  • UITableViewCell selected subview ghosts

    - by Jonathan Cohen
    Hi all, I'm learning about the iPhone SDK and have an interesting exception with UITableViewCell subview management when a finger is pressed on some rows. The table is used to assign sounds to hand gestures -- swiping the phone in one of 3 directions triggers the sound to play. Selecting a row displays an action sheet with 4 options for sound assignment: left, down, right, and cancel. Sounds can be mapped to one, two, or three directions so any cell can have one of seven states: left, down, right, left and down, left and right, down and right, or left down and right. If a row is mapped to any of these seven states, a corresponding arrow or arrows are displayed within the bounds of the row as a subview. Arrows come and go as they should in a given screen and when scrolling around. However, after scrolling to a new batch of rows, only when I press my finger down on some (but not all) rows, does an arrow magically appear in the selected state background. When I lift my finger off the row, and the action sheet appears, the arrow disappears. After pressing any of the four buttons, I can't replicate this anymore. But it's really disorienting and confusing to see this arrow flash on screen because the selected row isn't assigned to anything. What haven't I thought to look into here? All my table code is pasted below and this is a screencast of the problem: http://www.screencast.com/users/JonathanGCohen/folders/Jing/media/d483fe31-05b5-4c24-ab4d-70de4ff3a0bf Am I managing my subviews wrong or is there a selected state property I'm missing? Something else? Should I have included any more information in this post to make things clearer? Thank you!! #pragma mark - #pragma mark Table - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return ([categories count] > 0) ? • Jetty 7 hightide distribution, JSP and JSTL support

    - by Lior Cohen
    Hello guys. I've been struggling with Jetty 7 and its support for JSP and JSTL. My JSP file: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=utf-8" pageEncoding="utf-8" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <%@taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %> <head> <title>blah</title> </head> <body> <table id="data"> <tr class="columns"> <td>Hour</td> <c:forEach var="campaign" items="${campaigns}"> <td>${campaign}</td> </c:forEach> </tr> <c:forEach var="hour" items="${results}"> <tr> <td class="hour">${hour.key}</td> <c:forEach var="campaign" items="${campaigns}"> <td>${hour[campaign]}</td> </c:forEach> </tr> </c:forEach> </table> </body> </html> The JSP portions above work as expected. JSTL, however, does not. The campaigns and results variables are request attributes set by a servlet.   • Difference of 2 NSArray's for animated insert/delete in UITableView

    - by Alexander Cohen
    At some point in my Application, I have an NSArray whose contents change. Those contents are shown in a UITableView. I'm trying to find a way to find the diff between the contents of before and after of the NSArray so i can pass the correct indexPaths to insertRowsAtIndexPaths:withRowAnimation: and deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:withRowAnimation: in order to have the changes nicely animated. Any ideas? thx

  • hover effect jQuery

    - by Ori Cohen
    I have a bunch of li elements that I want to alternate in color using odds and evens, and then highlight based on mouse hover. In order to un-highlight I need to keep track of what the color used to be, odd or even. To do this when I apply the highlight color, I first set an arbitrary attribute to it. Are there any downsides to doing it this way? Is there a better way? Here's the code: <script type="text/javascript"> var init = function(event){ $("li:odd").css({'background-color' : '#eeeeee', 'font-weight' : 'bold'}); $("li:even").css('background-color', '#cccccc'); //initial colors setup $("li").hover( function () //hover over { var current = $(this); current.attr('old-background', current.css('background-color')); current.css('background-color', '#ffee99'); } , function() //hover out { var current = $(this); current.css('background-color', current.attr('old-background')); }) } $(document).ready(init); </script> So is there a better way to do this?

  • "Debug Assertion" Runtime Error on VS2008?

    - by Linda Cohen
    I' writing a C++ MFC program on VS2008 and I'm getting this "Debug Assertion Error" when I first run the program sometimes. When I try to debug it, it takes me to this winhand.cpp file which is not part of the program I wrote so I'm not sure how to debug this. It takes the error to this place in winhand.cpp CObject* pTemp = LookupTemporary(h); if (pTemp != NULL) { // temporary objects must have correct handle values HANDLE* ph = (HANDLE*)((BYTE*)pTemp + m_nOffset); // after CObject ASSERT(ph[0] == h || ph[0] == NULL); if (m_nHandles == 2) ASSERT(ph[1] == h); } So why does this error happen? Why does it only happen sometimes (50% of the time)? How would I debug this? I'll provide some code if is needed. THANKS!

  • Is it possible to get an NSView to pass rightMouseDown: to the next responder without subclassing?

    - by Benedict Cohen
    I have a view which contains a few subviews: mainView subViewA subViewB SubViewC mainView is an NSView constructed from a nib and is controlled with an NSViewController subclass. The subviews are standard views such as NSTextField and NSImageView and are configured to be non-editable. I want mainView to receive rightMouseDown: even when the event is triggered in one of the subviews. The default implementation of rightMouseDown: in NSResponder passes the event to the next responder, but NSView changes the default behaviour and does not pass it to the next responder. I could subclass all of the subviews but this doesn't seem like a very elegant or maintainable solution. How can I get the subviews to pass rightMouseDown: messages to the next responder without subclassing all of the subviews?

  • How to secure connection between PHP and Android

    - by Elad Cohen
    I am developing an application for the Android that requires a connection with PHP pages in order to add sensitive data to a database that will affect the application. Since it's very easy to reverse engineer an android app, one can simply find the url where the data is sent to and manipulate it. I thought about creating a registration based on IMEI, but one can still able to manipulate it for his malicious purposes. I have also checked OAuth but I didn't really understand how it works and if it can help in my condition. What can I do to fully secure my application? Thanks in advance! EDIT: By the way, what I am mostly trying to achieve here is to make sure the requests are being sent from an Android and not from any other device.

  • iPhone - how to track touches and allow button taps at the same time?

    - by Jonathan Cohen
    I'm wondering how to track touches anywhere on the iPhone screen and still have UIButtons respond to taps. I subclassed a UIView, made it full screen and the highest view in the hierarchy, and overrode its pointInside:withEvent method. If I return YES, I'm able to track touches anywhere on the screen but the buttons don't respond (likely because the view is instructed to handle and terminate the touch). If I return NO, the touch passes through the view and the buttons respond, but I'm not able to track touches. Do I need to subclass UIButton or is this possible through the responder chain? What am I doing wrong? - (BOOL)pointInside:(CGPoint)point withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ return NO; } //only works if pointInside:withEvent: returns YES. -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ NSLog(@"began"); [self.nextResponder touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; } //only works if pointInside:withEvent: returns YES. -(void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ NSLog(@"end"); [self.nextResponder touchesEnded:touches withEvent:event]; }

  • Ad-Hoc mode and Cell (how does it work)?

    - by Ori Cohen
    hello, I am setting up a wireless Ad-Hoc network manually in linux using iwconfig and ifconfig. I have gotten everything working, and I think I understand it all except access point. The part that confused me is this: If I have essid='some_id', channel=11, Mode=Ad-Hoc and appropriate routing/ip on both laptops, why do I need to make sure the Cell is the same? I was under the impression that Ad-Hoc worked independently of the access point. I can easily get around this, I just use iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:00:00:00:00:01 Why is this necessary? I've been unable to find a good tutorial on this. If anyone can clear this up I'd appreciate it. Thanks

  • Play Video on Safari iTouch

    - by dave cohen
    I have a web site that opens iframe for video on page, page uses ajax to pull in videos from selected menu. As expected and understood, on iTouch after selecting video it shows a play button, which brings up video in another screen. However, when the video completes, it returns browser to page prior to one where video was played from. Sequence: - open Page1 - go to Page2 which offers videos to play, in iframe - play video - video completes, returns to Page1, not Page2!! Only happens on iTouch, so must be issue with how control is returned on video completion. Any suggestions? If this is not a known problem, I can work up example (currently, need account on site). Thanks Dave

  • How are binding specified for Interface Builder plugins?

    - by Benedict Cohen
    I'm creating an Interface Builder plugin for an NSView subclass. I've been following the Interface Builder Plug-in Programming Guide but it's not answer all my questions. My class has one NSString property and 4 NSColor properties which I want to create bindings for at design time. I can't figure out where the bindings are specified in the plugin project. The documentation states that the Inspector Object is only for creating the Attribute Inspector. The class description file (.classdescription) lists outlets and actions but not bindings. Where do I specify the bindings for my class?

  • Help with possible Haskell type inference quiz questions

    - by Linda Cohen
    foldr:: (a -> b -> b) -> b -> [a] -> b map :: (a -> b) -> [a] -> [b] mys :: a -> a (.) :: (a -> b) -> (c -> a) -> c -> b what is inferred type of: a.map mys :: b.mys map :: c.foldr map :: d.foldr map.mys :: I've tried to create mys myself using mys n = n + 2 but the type of that is mys :: Num a => a -> a What's the difference between Num a = a - a and just a - a? Or what does 'Num a =' mean? Is it that mys would only take Num type? So anyways, a) I got [a] - [a] I think because it would just take a list and return it +2'd according to my definition of mys b) (a - b) - [a] - [b] I think because map still needs take both arguments like (*3) and a list then returns [a] which goes to mys and returns [b] c) I'm not sure how to do this 1. d) I'm not sure how to do this 1 either but map.mys means do mys first then map right? Are my answers and thoughts correct? If not, why not? THANKS!

  • How to determine if code is running in Foundation or GUI?

    - by Mitch Cohen
    I'm writing a Mac app with two targets - a regular Cocoa GUI and a Foundation command-line tool. They do very similar things other than the GUI, so I'm sharing most of the code between the two. I'd like to do a few things slightly differently depending on which target is running. I can think of many ways to do this (#define something in the pch, check for existence of GUI definitions...). I'm curious if there's a standard or recommended way to do this. Thanks!

  • Javascript works great locally, but not on my server

    - by Jonathan Cohen
    I'm teaching myself javascript by creating a script for displaying an external rss feed on a webpage. The code I patched together works great locally. This is a screen grab of the code producing exactly the desired behavior. The code is populating all the information inside the section "Blog: Shades of Gray", except for "tagged" which I hard coded: But when I upload the site files to my server, the code doesn't work at all. This is a screen grab of the code on my site NOT producing the desired behavior... This feels like I'm not getting something really basic about how javascript works locally vs. on the server. I did my half hour of googling for an answer and no trails look promising. So I'd really appreciate your help. This is my site (under construction) http://jonathangcohen.com Below is the code, which can also be found at http://jonathangcohen.com/grabFeeds.js. /*Javascript for Displaying an External RSS Feed on a Webpage Wrote some code that’ll grab attributes from an rss feed and assign IDs for displaying on a webpage. The code references my Tumblr blog but it’ll extend to any RSS feed.*/ window.onload = writeRSS; function writeRSS(){ writeBlog(); } function writeBlog(){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.open("GET","http://blog.jonathangcohen.com/rss.xml",false); xmlhttp.send(); xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML; var x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("item"); //append category to link for (i=0;i<3;i++) { if (i == 0){ //print category var blogTumblrCategory = x[i].getElementsByTagName("category")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogCategory1").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="http://blog.jonathangcohen.com/tagged/'+blogTumblrCategory+'">'+blogTumblrCategory+'</a>'; //print date var k = x[i].getElementsByTagName("pubDate")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue thisDate = new Date(); thisDate = formatTumblrDate(k); document.getElementById("getBlogPublishDate1").innerHTML = thisDate; //print title var blogTumblrTitle = x[i].getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue var blogTumblrLink = x[i].getElementsByTagName("link")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogTitle1").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="'+blogTumblrLink+'">'+blogTumblrTitle+'</a>'; } if (i == 1){ //print category var blogTumblrCategory = x[i].getElementsByTagName("category")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogCategory2").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="http://blog.jonathangcohen.com/tagged/'+blogTumblrCategory+'">'+blogTumblrCategory+'</a>'; //print date var k = x[i].getElementsByTagName("pubDate")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue thisDate = new Date(); thisDate = formatTumblrDate(k); document.getElementById("getBlogPublishDate2").innerHTML = thisDate; //print title var blogTumblrTitle = x[i].getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue var blogTumblrLink = x[i].getElementsByTagName("link")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogTitle2").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="'+blogTumblrLink+'">'+blogTumblrTitle+'</a>'; } if (i == 2){ //print category var blogTumblrCategory = x[i].getElementsByTagName("category")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogCategory3").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="http://blog.jonathangcohen.com/tagged/'+blogTumblrCategory+'">'+blogTumblrCategory+'</a>'; //print date var k = x[i].getElementsByTagName("pubDate")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue thisDate = new Date(); thisDate = formatTumblrDate(k); document.getElementById("getBlogPublishDate3").innerHTML = thisDate; //print title var blogTumblrTitle = x[i].getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue var blogTumblrLink = x[i].getElementsByTagName("link")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogTitle3").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="'+blogTumblrLink+'">'+blogTumblrTitle+'</a>'; } } } function formatTumblrDate(k){ d = new Date(k); var curr_date = d.getDate(); var curr_month = d.getMonth(); curr_month++; var curr_year = d.getFullYear(); printDate = (curr_month + "/" + curr_date + "/" + curr_year); return printDate; } Thank you!

  • ObjectiveFlickr - how to call getSizes on a photo ID not known until the response?

    - by Jonathan Cohen
    Hi guys, I'm building a free music instrument iPhone app with the Flickr API and ObjectiveFlickr.A random photo from the interestingness list is displayed in the background, but I can't center it without knowing its size. (so I can reset the UIWebView frame) I've been researching this for awhile, and if the answer is super easy, please have some mercy on a noob - it's my first time playing with a web service API. =) Since I don't know the photo ID until after I receive the response from the interestingness feed, how would I call flickr.photo.getSizes on the response? This is what I have so far: - (void)flickrAPIRequest:(OFFlickrAPIRequest *)inRequest didCompleteWithResponse:(NSDictionary *)inResponseDictionary{ int randomResponse = arc4random() % 49; photoDict = [[inResponseDictionary valueForKeyPath:@"photos.photo"] objectAtIndex:randomResponse]; NSString *photoID = [photoDict valueForKeyPath:@"id"]; NSLog(@"%@",photoID); NSURL *photoURL = [flickrContext photoSourceURLFromDictionary:photoDict size:OFFlickrMediumSize]; NSString *htmlSource = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"<html>" @"<head>" @" <style>body { margin: 0; padding: 0; } </style>" @"</head>" @"<body>" @"<img src=\"%@\" />" @"</body>" @"</html>" , photoURL]; [webView loadHTMLString:htmlSource baseURL:nil]; }

  • How do you solve this Haskell problem using a fold map and take?

    - by Linda Cohen
    Define a function replicate which given a list of numbers returns a list with each number duplicated its value. Use a fold, map, and take .. replicate [5,1,3,2,8,1,2] output: [5,5,5,5,5,1,3,3,3,2,2,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,1,2,2] I've figure this out using List comprehension and recursion: replicate2 [] = [] replicate2 (n:nn) = take n(repeat n) ++ replicate2 nn but how would you use fold and map to do this? so far I have: replicate n = map (foldl1 (take n(repeat n)) n) n which is obviously wrong, but I think I am close.. so any help would be nice, THANKS!
