  • Minor tweak to this javascript function?

    - by RKS
    I have a script that shows/hides used via onClick. I can get it to show/hide just fine, but I can't get it to show/'hide everything else'. So what I get is a bunch of open containers when I really want just the one. Javascript: <script> function showfields(fields){ if(document.getElementById(fields).style.display=='none'){ document.getElementById(fields).style.display='block'; } else{ document.getElementById(fields).style.display = 'none'; } } </script> HTML: <div id="hidden" class="steps" style="display: block;"> <div class="section" style="margin-right: 10px;"> <h2>Something</h2> </div> <button class="continue dropdown" id="showLink" onClick="showfields('hidden2');return false;" href="#">Continue</button> </div> <div id="hidden2" class="steps" style="display: block;"> <div class="section" style="margin-right: 10px;"> <h2>Something2</h2> </div> <button class="continue dropdown" id="showLink" onClick="showfields('hidden3');return false;" href="#">Continue</button> </div> <div id="hidden3" class="steps" style="display: block;"> <div class="section" style="margin-right: 10px;"> <h2>Something3</h2> </div> <button class="continue dropdown" id="showLink" onClick="showfields('hidden3');return false;" href="#">Continue</button> </div> <div id="hidden4" class="steps" style="display: block;"> <div class="section" style="margin-right: 10px;"> <h2>Something4</h2> </div> <button class="continue dropdown" id="showLink" onClick="showfields('hidden4');return false;" href="#">Continue</button> </div> Thanks

  • Is there any tweak to bring back emblems in Nautilus?

    - by Achu
I read the following dev email Removing 'Backgrounds and Emblems' and when i read this part: Note that this does not completely remove the ability for extensions (e.g. Dropbox) to add emblems programmatically by using the libnautilus-extension library, just the user-added emblems from the properties dialog/emblems sidebar. There is ability to bring emblems programmatically. So, How can i use libnautilus-extension library to add some emblems like Dropbox does? Or is there any tweak tool for this?

  • Customise date-time format in Windows.

    - by infant programmer
Is it possible to customize data (or date-time) format in Windows [I am using windows XP]? The current format which is followed by the OS [to show date-modified, etc.] is MM/DD/YYYY or M/D/YYYY, whereas I have been comfortable with DD/MM/YYYY or D/M/YYYY format. I am finding it hard to refer Date-modified [which I use often] of files and folders.

  • How can I tweak this split-tar-gz-archive script?

    - by Sai
I came across this shell script that can be used to split an entire directory across multiple compressed files. I am interested in making a minor tweak to this script. Lets say I have n GB of files in a directory. I do not want the contents of a particular folder to be split across multiple tar files but inside the same file. I want the n MB folder to be fit within a single compressed file and the remaining (n GB -n MB) split across multiple files. I am not sure whether it is possible with this script. I was looking forward to some suggestions. Though the script has been well documented, it is quite complex to understand for me

  • All tweak settings not saving after last 2 updates?

    - by mawburn
I am running Ubuntu GNOME 14.04. After the last 2 updates, all settings in the Tweak menu are no saving. It will also not switch to the Gnome Dark theme at all. This includes all Startup Application changes as well as any changes to Extension settings. I'm not sure if I need to include any sort of log records or anything like that, so if you need any more information please ask. I've noticed the default fonts seem to be different. I don't remember that being part of the theme settings. It's almost like I'm running in Safe Mode.

  • Is Java much harder to "tweak" for performance compared with C/C++?

    - by user997112
Does the "magic" of the JVM hinder the influence a programmer has over micro-optimisations in Java? I recently read in C++ sometimes the ordering of the data members can provide optimizations (granted, in the microsecond environment) and I presumed a programmer's hands are tied when it comes to squeezing performance from Java? I appreciate a decent algorithm provides greater speed-gains, but once you have the correct algorithm is Java harder to tweak due to the JVM control? If not, could people give examples of what tricks you can use in Java (besides simple compiler flags).

  • How to tweak the appearance of desktop icons in Lubuntu?

    - by vasa1
In Ubuntu 11.10 with Nautilus it was possible to tweak the appearance of desktop icons by editing nautilus.css as I had posted in How can I change the text colour on my desktop icons?. In Xubuntu the same can be done by adding a few lines to one's .gtkrc-2.0 as described in How to highlight items on Desktop using xfce?. In both cases, it is possible to assign colors to the various icon states (such as normal, selected and active). My question is this: is it possible to do the same in Lubuntu? PCManFM seems to be responsible but I can't find any GUI or files to edit for the purpose. The default ~/.config/pcmanfm/lubuntu/pcmanfm.conf doesn't have any relevant settings.

  • How can I tweak this A* search pathfinding algorithm to handle different terrain movement values?

    - by user422318
I'm creating a 2D map-based action game with similar interaction design as Diablo II. In other words, the player clicks around a map to move their player. I just finished player movement and am moving on to pathfinding. In the game, enemies should charge the player's character. There are also five different terrain types that give different movement bonuses. I want the AI to take advantage of these terrain bonuses as they try to reach the player. I was told to check out the A* search algorithm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A*_search_algorithm). I'm doing this game in HTML5 and JavaScript, and found a version in JavaScript: http://www.briangrinstead.com/blog/astar-search-algorithm-in-javascript I'm trying to figure out how to tweak it though. Below are my ideas about what I need to change. What else do I need to worry about? When I create a graph, I will need to initialize the 2D array I pass in passed on with a traversal of a map that corresponds to the different terrain types. in graph.js: "GraphNodeType" definition needs to be modified to handle the 5 terrain types. There will be no walls. in astar.js: The g and h scoring will need to be modified. How should I do this? in astar.js: isWall() should probably be removed. My game doesn't have walls. in astar.js: I'm not sure what this is. I think it indicates a node that isn't valid to be processed. When would this happen, though? At a high level, how do I change this algorithm from "oh, is there a wall there?" to "will this terrain get me to the player faster than the terrain around me?" Because of time, I'm also debating reusing my Bresenham algorithm for the enemies. Unfortunately, the different terrain movement bonuses won't be used by the AI, which will make the game suck. :/ I'd really like to have this in for the prototype, but I'm not a developer by trade nor am I a computer scientist. :D If you know of any code that does what I'm looking for, please share! Sanity check tips for this are also appreciated.

  • Can I tweak a page's appearance using Google Chrome's developer tools?

    - by Nathan Long
When I'm working on a web page layout, I often use Firefox and Firebug to tweak the CSS until it looks right, then modify my style sheet to match. Right now, I'm trying to fix something that looks fine in other browsers but wrong in Google Chrome. I have pulled up Chrome's Developer Tools, and can inspect the computed style, but don't see a way to edit values and see the results on my page. Is there a way to do this?

  • Land of Lisp example question

    - by cwallenpoole
I've read a lot of good things about Land of Lisp so I thought that I might go through it to see what there was to see. (defun tweak-text (lst caps lit) (when lst (let ((item (car lst)) (rest (cdr lst))) (cond ; If item = space, then call recursively starting with ret ; Then, prepend the space on to the result. ((eq item #\space) (cons item (tweak-text rest caps lit))) ; if the item is an exclamation point. Make sure that the ; next non-space is capitalized. ((member item '(#\! #\? #\.)) (cons item (tweak-text rest t lit))) ; if item = " then toggle whether we are in literal mode ((eq item #\") (tweak-text rest caps (not lit))) ; if literal mode, just add the item as is and continue (lit (cons item (tweak-text rest nil lit))) ; if either caps or literal mode = true capitalize it? ((or caps lit) (cons (char-upcase item) (tweak-text rest nil lit))) ; otherwise lower-case it. (t (cons (char-downcase item) (tweak-text rest nil nil))))))) (the comments are mine) (FYI -- the method signature is (list-of-symbols bool-whether-to-caps bool-whether-to-treat-literally) but the author shortened these to (lst caps lit).) But anyway, here's the question: This has (cond... (lit ...) ((or caps lit) ...)) in it. My understanding is that this would translate to if(lit){ ... } else if(caps || lit){...} in a C style syntax. Isn't the or statement redundant then? Is there ever a condition where the (or caps lit) condition will be called if caps is nil?

  • Is it possible to tweak TStringField to work like TWideStringField in Delphi?

    - by mjustin
We want to use Unicode with Delphi 2009 and Interbase, and found that to switch the character encoding from WIN1252 to UNICODE_FSS we first have to replace all instances of TStringField with TWideStringField in all datamodules. For around 60 datamodules, we can not simply do this over one weekend. I can see only two options for a migration strategy: find a workaround which allows to use the existing TStringField fields without triggering the 'expected: TWideStringField' error or remove all persistent fields to avoid the string type conflict As far as I know the field types for persistent database fields are registered in some kind of class registry. Could we use this to make Delphi believe that a TStringField is ok for a Interbase character column with UNICODE_FSS encoding? Or can we use a commercial dbExpress driver which work with TStringField in both cases? See also my related question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2302670/delphi-dbexpress-and-interbase-unicode-migration-steps-and-risks

  • Over-enthusiastic Intellisense in VS2010 - can I tweak it?

    - by CJM
Since I have upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010, I've been having an increasingly infuriating battle with the Intellisense. For example, when specifying CSS styles, when I press Enter to start an new line, Intellisense (appropriately) lists available Styles to me. And if I select color and then type ':', it presents a list of color presets - often helpful. However, if I type in a space (I like them for readability) or if I type '#' to enter RGB values, it selected the default Intellisense selection, in this case inherits. Another example is in an ASP.NET page - say I am concatenating strings, I type myString =, I get an Intellisense pop-up. If I type space or '"' (to enter a literal) or '.' (so select a property or method within a WITH block), the Intellisense selects the first entry in the list. I can dismiss the Intellisense pop-ups with escape but it makes it incredibly slow to code. This behaviour is different to my VS2008 set-up. I can't seem to find any way to configure Intellisense to behave differently... I really only want it to select and Intellisense entry when I type or ... at least, certainly not when I type '"' or ' ' or '.'!

  • How can I tweak this elisp function to distinguish between C-d & DEL?

    - by Fletcher Moore
Here's my current function (blindly copy-pasted from a website) (defun tweakemacs-delete-one-line () "Delete current line." (interactive) (beginning-of-line) (kill-line) (kill-line)) (global-set-key (kbd "C-d") 'tweakemacs-delete-one-line) There are two quirks here that I want to get rid of. 1) This actually rebinds DEL to the same function. I want my DEL to remain "delete one character". 2) There needs to be a condition where it will not double-kill if the line is only a newline character.

  • How do I tweak columns in a Flat File Destination in SSIS?

    - by theog
I have an OLE DB Data source and a Flat File Destination in the Data Flow of my SSIS Project. The goal is simply to pump data into a text file, and it does that. Where I'm having problems is with the formatting. I need to be able to rtrim() a couple of columns to remove trailing spaces, and I have a couple more that need their leading zeros preserved. The current process is losing all the leading zeros. The rtrim() can be done by simple truncation and ignoring the truncation errors, but that's very inelegant and error prone. I'd like to find a better way, like actually doing the rtrim() function where needed. Exploring similar SSIS questions & answers on SO, the thing to do seems to be "Use a Script Task", but that's ususally just thrown out there with no details, and it's not at all an intuitive thing to set up. I don't see how to use scripting to do what I need. Do I use a Script Task on the Control Flow, or a Script Component in the Data Flow? Can I do rtrim() and pad strings where needed in a script? Anybody got an example of doing this or similar things? Many thanks in advance.

  • Customize the Default Screensavers in Windows 7 and Vista

    - by Matthew Guay
Windows 7 and Vista include a nice set of backgrounds, but unfortunately most of them aren’t configurable by default.  Thanks to a free app and some registry changes, however, you can make the default screensavers uniquely yours! Customize the default screensavers If you’ve ever pressed the Customize button on most of the default screensavers in Windows 7 and Vista, you were probably greeted with this message: A little digging in the registry shows that this isn’t fully correct.  The default screensavers in Vista and 7 do have options you can set, but they’re not obvious.  With the help of an app or some registry tips, you can easily customize the screensavers to be uniquely yours.  Here’s how you can do it with an app or in the registry. Customize Windows Screensavers with System Screensavers Tweaker Download the System Screensavers Tweaker (link below), and unzip the folder.  Run nt6srccfg.exe in the folder to tweak your screensavers.  This application lets you tweak the screensavers’ registry settings graphically, and it works great in all editions of Windows Vista and 7, including x64 versions. Change any of the settings you want in the screensaver tweaker, and click Apply. To preview the changes to your screensaver, open the Screen Saver settings window as normal by right-clicking on the desktop, and selecting Personalize. Click on the Screensaver button on the bottom right. Now, select your modified screensaver, and click Preview to see your changes. You can change a wide variety of settings for the Bubbles, Ribbons, and Mystify screensavers in Windows 7 and Vista, as well as the Aurora screensaver in Windows Vista.  The tweaks to the Bubbles screensaver are especially nice.  Here’s how the Bubbles look without transparency. And, by tweaking a little more, you get a screensaver that looks more like a screen full of marbles. Ribbons and Mystify each have less settings, but still can produce some unique effects.   How’s that for a brilliant screensaver? And, if you want to return your screensavers to their default settings, simply run the System Screensavers Tweaker and select Reset to defaults on any screensaver you wish to reset. Customize Windows Screensavers in the Registry If you prefer to roll up your sleeves and tweak Windows under-the-hood, then here’s how you can customize the screensavers yourself in the Registry.  Type regedit into the search box in the Start menu, browse to the key for each screensaver, and add or modify the DWORD values listed for that screensaver using the Decimal base. Please Note: Tweaking the Registry can be difficult, so if you’re unsure, just use the tweaking application above. Also, you’ll probably want to create a System Restore Point.   Bubbles To edit the Bubbles screensaver, browse to the following in regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Screensavers\Bubbles Now, add or modify the following DWORD values to tweak the screensaver: MaterialGlass – enter 0 for solid or 1 for transparent bubbles Radius – enter a number between 1090000000 and 1130000000; the larger the number, the larger the bubbles’ radius ShowBubbles – enter 0 to show a black background or 1 to show the current desktop behind the bubbles ShowShadows – enter 0 for no shadow or 1 for shadows behind the bubbles SphereDensity – enter a number from 1000000000 to 2100000000; the higher the number, the more bubbles on the screen. TurbulenceNumOctaves – enter a number from 1 to 255; the higher the number, the faster the bubble colors will change. Ribbons To edit the Ribbons screensaver, browse to the following in regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Screensavers\Ribbons Now, add or modify the following DWORD values to tweak the screensaver: Blur – enter 0 to prevent ribbons from fading, or 1 to have them fade away after a few moments. Numribbons – enter a number from 1 to 100; the higher the number, the more ribbons on the screen. RibbonWidth – enter a number from 1000000000 to 1080000000; the higher the number, the thicker the ribbons. Mystify To edit the Mystify screensaver, browse to the following in regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Screensavers\Mystify Now, add or modify the following DWORD values to tweak the screensaver: Blur – enter 0 to prevent lines from fading, or 1 to have them fade away after a few moments. LineWidth – enter a number from 1000000000 to 1080000000; the higher the number, the wider the lines. NumLines – enter a number from 1 to 100; the higher the value, the more lines on the screen. Aurora – Windows Vista only To edit the Aurora screensaver in Windows Vista, browse to the following in regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Screensavers\Aurora Now, add or modify the following DWORD values to tweak the screensaver: Amplitude – enter a value from 500000000 to 2000000000; the higher the value, the slower the motion. Brightness – enter a value from 1000000000 to 1050000000; the higher the value, the brighter the affect. NumLayers – enter a value from 1 to 15; the higher the value, the more aurora layers displayed. Speed – enter a value from 1000000000 to 2100000000; the higher the value, the faster the cycling. Conclusion Although the default screensavers are nice, they can be boring after awhile with their default settings.  But with these tweaks, you can create a variety of vibrant screensavers that should keep your desktop fresh and interesting. • Gnome extensions stay in the list after being removed

    - by SingerOfTheFall
I've got a little issue with gnome shell extensions. After installing some of them, I understood I didn't like them and decided to remove them. The extensions themselves (their folders in /home/username/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions) were deleted successfully. However, the deleted extensions were not removed from the list of installed extensions at extensions.gnome.org. They also were not removed from the list in gnome-tweak-tool. So now in my list I have a bunch of extensions that I have already deleted. The funny thing is that I can't reinstall them too, since both the gnome-tweak-tool and the website think they are still there. This isn't a big deal of course, but I find it to be a little annoying. Reinstalling gnome-tweak-tool didn't help. Is there a way to somehow update the status of installed extensions?

  • Environment font size is too small

    - by Adobe
So I've chosen a font by System Settings - Application Appearance - Fonts And there I've adjusted all fonts to be of 14th size. And also checked "Use my KDE fonts..." in Gtk+ appearance. I've also did the same using kdesudo systemsettings But still some fonts are tiny! It's not the 14th size! Edit 2: I thought it might be one of Gnome font settings. So I've increased all fonts in gnome-tweak-tool sudo gnome-tweak-tool gconf-editor sudo gconf-editor No help! Edit: Ubuntu tweak also gives no help (note the tiny fonts!): Edit: It looks like the problem is with gtk3: when I compile emacs 24.0.92 with gtk3 - i get small menu fonts. When I do the same with a default gtk2 - everything is all right.

  • Is there any way to tweak / rotate mouse orientation? Any applications? Registry edits?

    - by calbar
I've got a very frustrating issue with my new Logitech Marathon Mouse M705. It is absolutely perfect for what I need, with the exception that it tracks on an angle for some reason. What I mean is when you slide the cursor to the left, it trends upward - when you slide to the right, it trends down. Moving the cursor along a flat horizontal line is no longer a natural motion - you need to fight what I suspect is a mechanical error of some kind. Unfortunately, I've already exchanged this mouse once and tested both on different Windows 7 and Mac OS machines - the problem continues to occur. So is there a software solution for me? I'm incredibly surprised there is no simple way to adjust the orientation... How can every mouse manufacturer possibly adjust their hardware to track to everyone's tastes? What about those who need to flip orientation a full 90 or 180 degrees? I only need to adjust mine a few degrees, but I'm sure that need has arisen as well. Anyway, I'm running the latest SetPoint drivers (6.00) on Windows 7 and there are no orientation options available. I've checked out uberOptions (http://uberoptions.net/) and the M705 isn't supported yet (with the last version update over 6 months ago). MAF Mouse (http://www.maf-soft.de/mafmouse/) instructions are a very strange series of mouse clicks to activate? This app also seems a little overkill and costs $$ (which I'm willing to pay as a last resort). Is there no universal registry value for mouse orientation? How about for SetPoint drivers specifically? I've done a simple search in regedit without any luck. An XML file somewhere? Anything?? Thanks a million for any help - it's driving me nuts!
