  • Adding a virtual directory IIS 7.5 Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    Trying to get my IIS 7.5 playing nice with VS 2008 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I'm getting this error: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. This happens when accessing a virtual directory outside C:\inetpub\wwwroot. I'd like to be able to create virtual directories outside the root if I can. I've added the NETWORK SERVICE to the folder hosting the virtual directory, still no luck. This folder is on my C: drive, not a share. TIA

  • MSSQL:Ultimate configuration for rebuilding indexes+statistics

    My database is growing slower even though I have a bunch of indexes setup. Yesterday I figured out that I need to setup a maintenance plan to build the indexes etc. So my question is what's the ultimate configuration for this? Do I need All: "Rebuild idex task", "Reorganize index task" and "update statistics task". Anything else I need to setup. Shrink database? (Today, the only maintenance plans I have is backup) Does it matter in what order I run them? Any configuration options I should be aware of? I've read of problems with log growing wild, how do I fix that? My transaction log is quite small and is usually a problem for me. -

    I have installed a volume licensed version of Expression Studio 4 Ultimate. When I contacted support, I was told that a product key is not required for volume license version. But after I installing it, I get folowing error message: A licensing error has occurred. Restart your Expression program and try again. If you continue to receive this error message, reinstall your Expression program to make sure that the license installs correctly. As a side note, I used to have full version of Blend 3 and Blend 4 Beta installed side by side.

    I'm running IIS 7.5 on Windows 7 Ultimate. I've installed PHP Version 5.2.14 using Microsoft Web Platform Installer. I've created a virtual directory and a file with which I can browse it and it returns all the PHP information just fine. I'm trying to install MantisBT, and when I copy all the file to my virtual directory and browse index.php I receive the following error detail: Error Summary HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.     Hello, i am trying to install VS TS 2008 on W7 Ultimate (64bit), but i have run into errors during the setup. Please take note that i have tried to mount the iso to a virtual drive, and also extracted the iso contents to a local folder. Both methods have failed and produce the same error log below. [10/26/09,03:02:40] Runtime Pre-requisites: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Runtime Pre-requisites. MSI returned error code 1603 [10/26/09,03:02:42] VS70pgui: [2] DepCheck indicates Runtime Pre-requisites is not installed. [10/26/09,03:02:42] VS70pgui: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 64bit Prerequisites (x64) was not attempted to be installed. And the list goes on and on.. This is a fresh install of W7, and i have not installed MS Office 2007 at all yet, not sure if it would be causing my errors right now.. I appreciate any help i can get thank you.

    I'm a software developer and my workstation is running Win7 Ultimate, 64bit. I want to run a virtual PC on which I can deploy and run the web-software I create, as a virtual web-server PC. I want the VM to also be Windows as that's what I know, the version isn't too important but on that PC I want to run things like MySQL, TomCat, etc. I see VMWare make 'Player', also I see VirtualBox and I know MS also have solutions too, which I've heard good things about. Does it make much difference which I use as far as creating & using VMs? Or are they all pretty similar?

    I'm trying to get my HP T5740 thin clients to connect to my local network without much success. I asked a question here but haven't got any response. I think that question should have been posted on serverfault instead. I was thinking that the problem seems to be that the thin clients aren't able to get an IP address when they are connected and I can't manually set it. So if I was to somehow set up a dhcp server on the network with my server that runs a 32 bit version of windows 7 ultimate edition. How do we set up a dhcp server in windows?

  • Live Mesh starts exactly once on fresh Win7 Ultimate installation

    I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Ulimate 64-bit on a formatted drive on a refurbed Lenovo PC, applied all 102 (!) windows updates, windows seems to be working fine. No quirks installing, no apps, no junkware, just straight, legal, Win7 Ultimate right from an unopened 2009 Microsoft box. Ok, breathe sigh -- Install Live Mesh (no messenger, no mail, no writer, no photo, none of the rest of the Windows Live freeware). Set up my shares, let it run overnight. watch MOE.exe in the Task-Manager perf pane to make sure it's all settled down. reboot. Ok, check that MOE is running and files are getting updated properly from other machines in the mesh. Great. HOWEVER -- when I try to launch Windows Live Mesh app from the Start jewel, I get a brief hourglass, then nothing. Reboot. Same story. result -- the shares I already posted seem to be synching properly, but I can't run the app, so I can't add and delete shares. The background process MOE seems to run, but I can't get the app going. btw, the reason I did this fresh install is I had exactly the same experience running Vista, so I wiped the machine hoping it would solve this nasty problem. Imagine my surprise! Will be grateful for clues, advice, etc, please & thanks!

  • Windows-7 Ultimate 64 bit wont connect to my wired/wireless networks

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Everything was working fine & then just stopped working. The nic card Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is enabled but does not connect to my router (cables & router ports are good). Wireless Atheros AR5007EG is enabled but the connection is limited (encryption type / key have been verified). A laptop running XP can connect both wired / wireless. SSID is not being broadcast, connect to network if it is not broadcasting is checked. Have checked services.msc for Bonjour & did not see it listed. Network & sharing center does not list any active networks. Device manager lists both devices as functioning properly. Router configuration has not been changed. Virus scan has not found anything. I would like to fix this rather than using Acronis to do a system restore. Thanks in advance for any advice offered in solving this. 26 Jan, the nic card & wireless are working using PCLinux OS Live CD. It appears that the problem is Windows 7 related.

Now the question is, If I want to upgrade the second laptop but uninstall the windows 7 on the first one, would this be possible. I am only wanting to swap the OS onto the other laptop as the other one is faster. Is this possible? and if so how can it be done?

    Running Safari 4.0.5. When I download a file, it never appears in the download folder. If I pause the download I get the xxxxxx.xxx.download temp file to show up. When I then resume the download, it will finish, but will never rename the file to xxxxx.xxx. I've heard from some other posts that AV seems to have a hand in it, but I'm running clamwin av which doesn't have an in memory av process. What should I do?

  • Quicktime won't install on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

    Hi! I am trying to install quicktime (actually just need iTunes..but then iTunes needs qt), but it fails. There seems to be a problem with the folder C:\Program Files(x86)\QuickTime\ - Quick Time wants to write the file QTTask.exe, but complains that it does not have permission to do so. Same thing happens with \PropertyPanels\PanelHelperBase.qpa I have tried deleting all Apple programs (in the order suggested in the support forum) and also tried to delete the temp folder. That did not work. I have tried to manually adjust the permissions of the QuickTime folder - no effect. I have run the installation file with admin rights and with different compatibility modes to no effect. I consider myself to be an experienced user - able to solve most problems - but now I am stuck. I need some input / fresh ideas on how to tackle the problem. This is very annoying as I cannot sync iPhone/iPad/iPod while iTunes is not running - due to the stupid (sorry) idea of only have your device linked to one library. Please help. Thanks!

    In word 2007 I click office button top left I click open, I get the open box, in the top address bar, I if I click on the down arrow far right (previous Locations) the drop down menu is empty just a box with nothing in it. To go anywhere from here I have to navigate via the left had pane, on all other windows systems this dropdown has enabled me to go to any location on my computer. I'm wondering if because all my word documents are on my D drive that windows 7 doesn't like it.

SQL SERVER 2005 :- Installed correctly without any error, but when I opened Management studio, it is not showing any server name, I tried to put systemName , systemName/Sqlexpress. Visual Studio 2008: After 8-9 minute of successful installation , I received a error in installing & I had no more option other than closing the installer window.     hi, i recently had trouble with wamp running properly in my windows 7 ultimte.(it was running properly some days ago) so i tried to install ii7 in my os but it didn't seem to work great though, so i uninstalled it. Now i have managed to install wamp properly but when i access localhost, it opens ii7 page. i can't figure out whats wrong? can anyone help. I want to remove that ii7 page from localhost and want wamp page in it. And when i try to access another page by typing "http://localhost/info.php" it shows page with this headings "Server Error in Application "DEFAULT WEB SITE""

    I have network IPP working on Ubuntu and Windows XP. On my Windows 7 instance, it refuses to acknowledge the remote server connection. Can anyone suggest how to configure this correctly? My install steps are: Add Printer Add a Local Printer Create a New Port and "Standard TCP/IP Port" Enter hostname http://host:631/printers/Printer_Name After that it says the printer is not detected, asks me to pick a driver, and finish up. Trying to use the device does not produce any output? If anyone has got this work, I would really appreciate a fix.
