  • Outlook 2011 Contact Import from CSV with Notes containing new lines / cr / lf

    I'm trying to import several thousand contacts into Outlook 2011 for Mac. Everything is working well except the Notes field as I cannot figure out how to get new lines / carriage returns into it. There is no documentation for the exact format that Outlook supports. After searching the web and experimenting I have tried: Creating a single contact in Outlook with Notes containing several lines of text. I then export the contact to a csv, deleting the contact in Outlook, then re-import. All lines in Notes merge together :-/ Following tips I found such as containing new lines around quotes. e.g. http://creativyst.com/Doc/Articles/CSV/CSV01.htm (search for line-break) Switching the CSV format from DOS to Unix, experimenting using manually injected ctrl-characters such as ^M etc. I would include an example export/import but unfortunately the the new breaks included do not work well in a SU code block.

  • SBS 2003 to SBS 2011

    We've migrated SBS 2003 to SBS 2011...so far everything has gone smoothly. We're in the final phase of migrating the last amount of data over. Is there a way I can check to be sure that our old server isn't restarting due to the 21 day grace period? As our 21 days is up on Thursday. Yet it's restarting on its own now...maybe a power supply issue...? Is there any way to extend the 21 days? or roll it back? or does this take a call to MSFT? Very odd...

    I have been using Outlook for Mac 2011 for last 2 years. Now I want to list out all the people in my email correspondences (sent and inbox) and send them one email. Where can I find the database of everyone's email address in my Mac? The mail will have to have email addresses one after another like this: [email protected], [email protected] all in the format which is accepted in outlook and which can be emailed immediately. I need to basically tag all my email address to send them one email.

  • new SBS 2011 Standard problems

    Brand new SBS 2011 install. I went to remove the DHCP server role. It went into a "Preparing to configure Windows. Do not turn off your computer." Been there for hours. Finally, decided to power off and restart. After boot up, the same window and message appear and it just sits there spinning. "Preparing to configure Windows. Do not turn off your computer." I'd love to get this installed before the end of the day but it doesn't look like that's possible. Any ideas on how to get passed this?

  • SBS 2011 on different subnet than domain computers

    The setup is as follows: SBS 2011 in datacentre on subnet A Domain PCs at another location on subnet B There is a site-to-site VPN. The domain PCs have joined the domain and have the SBS as their primary DNS server. The domain PCs can ping the DC but the problem is that the DC cannot ping any of the remote subnet (subnet B) SBS --Switch -- Router A ------------------- Router B -- Switch -- Domain PCs What is strange is that router A can ping any host on the subnet B. Another host on Subnet A can also ping any host on subnet B. It's only the DC which cannot ping anything to that specific remote subnet B. I did a tracert from the SBS to router B. The packet reaches Router A from the SBS but then it fails. Am I missing some specific settings that needs to be done when SBS is on a different subnet than its member pcs ?

  • Tie stock quote value to cell in Excel 2011 Mac

    I've been working on a mock stock portfolio in Excel, and I've been looking for ways to automatically update the data, eg. stock price and P/E ratio. I have tried using a web query to MSN Money, but that just brings up the whole stock quote across multiple cells, I want data to be updated in individual cells only. The only web query solution I can think of is if someone hosted a website where each value in the stock quote was saved on a different HTML file. I could then WebQuery to that file for each cell requiring that value. However, no website offers this. So in essence, is there any tool on Excel 2011 Mac that will let me pull individual values from a stock quote and assign them to a single cell?

  • Word: MAC 2011, TOC on too many pages

    I have a Word: MAC 2011 document where the bottom of the first 40 pages or so say "TOC: Page x". This notation appears to be in the Footer, as it is gray until I click on it (then the rest of the text goes gray instead). There is no TOC that I can see in the document, so I'm presuming someone tried to create one and messed things up. After the first 40 pages or so, all the other bottom of the page notations appear to be correct. (i.e. Chapter One, Chapter Two, etc.) How can I get those first 40 pages to be part of Chapter One rather than TOC?

Static Code Analysis feature of Visual Studio performs static code analysis on code to help developers identify potential design, globalization, interoperability, performance, security, and a lot of other categories of potential problems according to Microsoft's rules that mainly targets best practices in writing code, and there is a large set of those rules included with Visual Studio grouped into different categorized targeting specific coding issues like security, design, Interoperability, globalizations and others. Code Analysis can be enabled in the Build Definition file by selecting the correct value for the build process parameter "Perform Code Analysis" Once configure, Kick-off your build definition to queue a new build, Code Analysis will run as part of build workflow and you will be able to see code analysis warning as part of build report Understand the Code Analysis results & learn how to fix them Now after you went through Code Analysis configurations and the different ways of running it, we will go through the Code Analysis result how to understand them and how to resolve them. Code Analysis window in Visual Studio will show all the analysis results based on the rule sets you configured in the project file properties, let's dig deep into what each result item contains: 1 Check ID The unique identifier for the rule. CheckId and Category are used for in-source suppression of a warning.       2 Title The title of warning message       3 Description A description of the problem or suggested fix 4 File Name File name and the line of code number which violate the code analysis rule set 5 Category The code analysis category for this error 6 Warning /Error Depend on how you configure it in the rule set the default is Warning level 7 Action Copy: copy the warning information to the clipboard Create Work Item: If you're connected to Team Foundation Server you can create a work item most probably you may create a Task or Bug and assign it for a developer to fix certain code analysis warning Suppress Message: There are times when you might decide not to fix a code analysis warning. You might decide that resolving the warning requires too much recoding in relation to the probability that the issue will arise in any real-world implementation of your code. Or you might believe that the analysis that is used in the warning is inappropriate for the particular context. You can suppress individual warnings so that they no longer appear in the Code Analysis window. Two options available: In Source inserts a SuppressMessage attribute in the source file above the method that generated the warning. This makes the suppression more discoverable. In Suppression File adds a SuppressMessage attribute to the GlobalSuppressions.cs file of the project. This can make the management of suppressions easier. Note that the SuppressMessage attribute added to GlobalSuppression.cs also targets the method that generated the warning. It does not suppress the warning globally.       Visual Studio makes it very easy to fix Code analysis warning, all you have to do is clicking on the Check Id hyperlink if you are not aware how to fix the warring and you'll be directed to MSDN online or local copy based on the configuration you did while installing Visual Studio and you will find all the information about the warring including how to fix it. Create a Custom Code Analysis Rule Set The Microsoft standard rule sets provide groups of rules that are organized by function and depth.   • Tasks not appearing in Mac Outlook 2011

    My current workplace uses Macs and my old workplaces used Windows. In my old workplaces I heavily used Outlook's Task functionality to manage my workload. I understand that the Task functionality in Outlook 2011 for Mac is heavily limited so I was very pleased to find this useful "how-to" on making the most of Tasks. My problem is that my tasks don't appear in the Task folder, or anywhere else for that matter. Even if I search for a the title of a task I've recently found I still can't find them. After some Googling I found this forum thread that suggests it may be a problem with the Outlook database, which points to a Microsoft KB. So I went through all of the recommended steps on rebuilding/ adding a new identity using the "Microsoft Database Utility" - the theory being that if I create a new identity I can test the task creation using a "blank slate" identity. When I change the default identity to my newly created identity using the Microsoft Database Utility (have to restart the computer) Task creation still doesn't work. Any ideas appreciated, I really miss the task functionality in Outlook 2010 for Windows.

  • Embedded Spotlight does not function in Outlook 2011

    I have a rather strange problem. I manage a network of about 35 Mac, and we all recently switched from Mail.app to Outlook 2011 (Please don't debate this, I've already had this conversation ad nauseum) We are using network home directories (NHD) server from a Windows file server over the SMB protocol. The problem I'm having is Spotlight does not function inside of Outlook. But ONLY inside of Outlook. The global Spotlight can find all email and contacts with Outlook, but the embedded Spotlight cannot. As a test, I took one of my users and switched them from a network home directory to a portable home directory (PHD) (this means the home folder was copied to the local hard drive). This resulted in a working Spotlight within Outlook, as soon as I switched the user back to an NHD, however, it stopped working. I have already tried erasing the Spotlight index and killing the process to force re-indexing. I have exhausted all Spotlight troubleshooting, and since the global is working that is obviously not the issue. I believe it has something to do with the Spotlight plugin Microsoft wrote that is located in /Library/Spotlight. Any ideas?

  • Active Directory Corrupted In Windows Small Business Server 2011 - Server No Longer Domain Controller

    I have a rather bad problem with my Windows SBS 2011. First of all, I'll give the background to what caused the problem. I was setting up a new small business server network. I had my job about finished. The server was working great, all the workstations had joined the domain, and I had all my applications and data moved to the server. I thought I was done. But then it happened. I tried adding one more computer to the domain, and to my dismay the computer name was set to the same name as the server. Apparently when a computer joins a domain with the same name as another machine that is already on the domain, it overrides the first one. For normal workstations, this is not a big deal, you just delete the computer from AD and rejoin the original computer to the domain. However, for a server that is the domain controller it is a whole different story. Since the server got overridden in AD, it is no longer the domain controller. The DNS service is not working and all kinds of other services are failing also. So the question is, what are my options? I am embarrassed to admit it, but since this is a new server one thing I did not have setup yet was backup. So I have no backups to work from. I am worried that things are broken enough that I might need to do a reinstall. However, I already have several days worth of configuration into this server, so I would obviously prefer if there was a fix that would prevent me from needing to do a reinstall. All the server components are there and installed correctly, but they are misconfigured (I think it is basically just Active Directory). So I have the feeling that if I did the right thing I could solve the issue without a reinstall. Is there anyway to rerun the component that installs the initial configuration to "convert" the base windows server 2008 r2 install into a SBS? In other words in the program files folder there is an application called SBSsetup.exe, is there anyway to rerun this and have it reconfigure AD, etc. to work with SBS? Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Non-printing characters in Word 2011 not showing even when enabled

    I have a document I work on often, my resume. I have created a few different styles that I use and for some reason the non-printing characters have stopped showing properly. I have the option enabled (the reversed P) and the proper settings in the preferences checked. Here is a screenshot of the current view: basically, only the tab stops and the returns are showing. Upon doing an experiment by creating a new document, all characters (especially the spaces) show up nicely: I can copy this line and paste it into my resume document and it shows up there too.   • Excel 2011 for Mac VLOOKUP Date Issue

    I'm fairly proficient in using vlookups, but I'm having an issue vlooking up dates between two different spreadsheets. =VLOOKUP(B6,'[example.xlsx]Sheet1'!$B$1:$AA$260, 19, FALSE) My formula is retrieving a date fine, but the date is different when the cell is formatted for a date. Yet, when I change the formatting on each spreadsheet to display the date as a number, the number is the same (40115). The dates are displaying differently in each spreadsheet and I can't figure out why, they differ by about 3 years and 1 day (10/30/13 vs. 10/29/09). One was previously .xls, but I saved both a .xlsx.   • How to automatically move mail into appropriate folders - Outlook for Mac 2011

    Is there anyway to have emails automatically placed into folders where the original email resides? Situation: I sort my emails into various folders based on clients. However, when a new email comes in that was a reply to a previous it goes to my inbox versus going into the client folder. I know the typical answer is "just create a rule for that client". The problem with that is my clients change often, and creating a new rule that often is infeasible. I was hoping there might be some way to have a "follow source email" option. That way, when I move email A into folder X, all subsequent replies to email A will automatically be placed in folder X. Any ideas?

    Anyone know if there is a way to setup a Word form to allow the user to select multiple items from a dropdown list that are then displayed? For example, I need to setup a form to identify applicability of specific procedures to various levels of our organization. Since the listing of all departments under all divisions can be pretty lengthy, I was hoping for the ability to check off a division and then have a dropdown list on the same line to select the applicable departments (so the selections are specific to that division and not all listed on the form if that division is not applicable). First, I'm not seeing how to create a dropdown that would allow multiple selections. Beyond that, I don't know if that form element alone would then display all selected items or if that would require another element of some type. Anyone have any suggestions on this?     Assume I'm working away from the office; its a hotel computer Windows 7, Office 2010 and fast - so the best possible conditions. Using Companyweb - Every time I open a document, I have to go through the logon process - seems odd to have to do that. Is this a 'by design' feature or is something wrong with my configuration? When I do open the documents, are they being stored somewhere locally and should I be looking to delete on this computer - or are they in a temporary file?

  • TFS 2008 Web Access Report 100 record limitation

    By default TFS 2008 Web Access has the limit of 100 record when you open any query in report mode. Even if you tried to export the query to excel or PDF you will only get first 100 record exported. To overcome this issue, you have to reconfigure this count in the web.config file Navigate to web access files C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System Web Access\Wiwa Open web.config modify maxWorkitemsInReportList count to whatever count you need.
