  • How to prevent launcher from influencing window placement?

    - by Jeromy Anglim
As I understand it, in Ubuntu 11.04 setting the AutoHide setting on Compiz Config - Unity (see here) not only hid the launcher but prevented the launcher from influencing window placement. However, since updating to Ubuntu 11.10 when I open a new window it gets indented the space of the launcher. I just want new windows to open flush left. This is annoying, because I like to have two windows on my large screen, one taking up the left half of the screen and the other taking up the right half of the screen. Indenting causes them to overlap. How can I stop Ubuntu 11.10 thinking that the launcher takes up desktop space when placing windows? The following screen shot shows what I'm talking about. I've just opened chromium and the window is indented by the width of the launcher.

  • Ubuntu 11.10 Unity - all Windows decorations disappear after I maximize any window

    - by korda
When I maximize some of the windows all decorations disappear (by all, I mean on all windows)... Is that common issue on Unity or I'm just unlucky to have some prone to that bug configuration? Anyone have idea how to fix this? EDIT: It won't fix after unmaximize. It seems like maximazing window simply crashes window decorator. Decoration isn't displayed for all existing windows and any new ones. Only way I found to fix this is to run compiz --replace (but this ruins current windows placement - all windows end up on same desktop). It happens almost every time I maximize window.

  • Why do my window titles lag behind the window contents?

    - by user8758
The window title displayed in my maverick is often for the previous window. This is most noticeable in Firefox after using the back key to go to the previous window, but it also happens in file search and various media players. This even occurs in brand new installs of maverick and linux mint 10, so I know it has nothing to do with any configuration file snafu. I am using a Toshiba Satellite notebook with Intel graphics. Oddly enough, linux mint does not display this glitch when running in virtualbox (don't know about maverick in vbox). Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • jQuery + Validation plugin: add/remove class to/from element's parent

    - by FreekOne
Hi guys, I'm working with the jQuery Validation plugin and I wrote the following code which adds a class to the element's parent if not valid (as well as inserting the actual error message at a particular location within the parent): errorPlacement: function(error, element) { element.parent().addClass('error'); error.insertBefore(element.parent().children("br")); } This works, however, if a field's content is corrected and becomes valid, the class obviously doesn't get removed from its parent (actually, neither does the error element, instead it just gets a display: none; CSS property). How can I check if an element becomes valid and remove its parent class if so ? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you !

  • .NET TreeView causes application to crash when trying to check Parent node

    - by alexD
    I have a TreeView with check boxes, and when a user checks a child node, I want to go up the tree and check each parent. However, for some reason my application blows up whenever I touch the parent node. For the nodes in my tree, I've extended TreeNode to create my own objects with some data that I need to store in them, but I still reference them as TreeNodes when checking/unchecking. My code looks like this: //checkBox checked event handler if (node.Parent != null) { checkAllParents(node.Parent); } // private void checkAllParents(TreeNode node) { node.Checked = true; if (node.Parent != null) { checkAllParents(node.Parent); } }

  • AS3 Accessing Variables of Parent Class From Child

    - by TheDarkIn1978
i'm trying to assign a parent's variable from the parent's child //Parent public class Main extends Sprite { public var selectedSquare:Sprite; public function Main() { //inits and adds new Square child class to display list } ... ------- //Child public function dragSquare(evt:MouseEvent):void { Sprite(parent).selectedSquare = this; //evil doesn't work! parent.addChild(this); this.startDrag(); } i'm receiving this error, but i'm casting parent from displayObjectContainer to a Sprite so i have no idea why it's not working. 1119: Access of possibly undefined property selectedSquare through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite.

  • Window focus confusion in unity

    - by Bryan Agee
I like having focus prevention set to high, so that I don't have some stupid auto-launched app steal my typing in the middle of something else. Unfortunately, Unity keeps focus on the right window while raising the new one. A number of times, this has caused me to close an application by accident that had control of the menu bar, even though it was underneath the new window. Is there a way to prevent raise without focus?

  • How to get a "Maximize" button in every window in GNOME Fallback

    - by RockKeyman
Just installed Ubuntu 11.10 (AMD64), and immediately switched back to GNOME with GNOME Fallback. I'm searching for a feature which provided a "maximise" button in every window, even ones which should have only the "close" button. In older Ubuntu versions this feature was activated when switching from "None" to "Normal" in "Visual Effects": But now, that window is out, and I can't find that feature. I guess it's somewhere in CompizConfig, but I've searched there with no result. Does anyone know what's the feature I'm searching for?

  • Silverlight data binding to parent user control's properties with using MVVM in both controls

    - by MagicMax
Hello! I have two UserControls ("UserControlParentView" and "UserControlChildView") with MVVM pattern implemented in both controls. Parent control is a container for Child control and child control's property should be updated by data binding from Parent control in order to show/hide some check box inside Child control. Parent Control Description UserControlParentViewModel has property: private bool isShowCheckbox = false; public bool IsShowCheckbox { get { return isShowCheckbox; } set { isShowCheckbox = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("IsShowCheckbox"); } } UserControlParentViewModel - how I set DataContext of Parent control: public UserControlParentView() { InitializeComponent(); this.DataContext = new UserControlParentViewModel(); } UserControlParentView contains toggle button (in XAML), bound to UserControlParentViewModel's property IsShowCheckbox <ToggleButton Grid.Column="1" IsChecked="{Binding IsShowCheckbox, Mode=TwoWay}"></ToggleButton> Also Parent control contains instance of child element (somewhere in XAML) <local:UserControlChildView IsCheckBoxVisible="{Binding IsShowCheckbox}" ></local:UserControlChildView> so property in child control should be updated when user togggle/untoggle button. Child control contains Boolean property to be updated from parent control, but nothing happened! Breakpoint never fired! Property in UserControlChildView that should be updated from Parent control (here I plan to make chechBox visible/hidden in code behind): public bool IsCheckBoxVisible { get { return (bool)GetValue(IsCheckBoxVisibleProperty); } set { SetValue(IsCheckBoxVisibleProperty, value); } } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for IsCheckBoxVisible. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty IsCheckBoxVisibleProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("IsCheckBoxVisible", typeof(bool), typeof(TopMenuButton), new PropertyMetadata(false)); So the question is - what I'm doing wrong? Why child's property is never updated? BTW - there is no any binding error warnings in Output window...

  • Question regarding parent/child relationships with dynamically generated checkboxes using jquery

    - by Jeff
I have a form of checkboxes, that is dynamically generated based on the users content. Sections of checkboxes are broken up by categories, and each category has projects within. For database purposes, the category values have checkboxes, that are hidden. IF a category has sub items that have checkboxes that are checked, THEN the category checkbox is checked as well. I have gotten this working ok using the JQuery .click(), but I can't figure out how to do it when the page loads. Here is my code for when a checkbox is actually clicked: $(".project").click(function() { if($(this).is(":checked") && $(this).hasClass("project")) { $(this).parent().parent().children(':first').attr('checked', true); }else if(!$(this).parent().children('.project').is(":checked")){ $(this).parent().parent().children(':first').attr('checked', false); } }); Now when I am editing the status of these boxes (meaning after they have been saved to the db) the category boxes are not showing up as checked even though their children projects are checked. What can I do to make it so that my category box will be checked at load time if that category's child is checked? Part of the problem I think is with the dynamically changing parent child setup, how can I find the parent box in order to have it checked? Thanks!

  • SQL SERVER – SSIS Parameters in Parent-Child ETL Architectures – Notes from the Field #040

    - by Pinal Dave
[Notes from Pinal]: SSIS is very well explored subject, however, there are so many interesting elements when we read, we learn something new. A similar concept has been Parent-Child ETL architecture’s relationship in SSIS. Linchpin People are database coaches and wellness experts for a data driven world. In this 40th episode of the Notes from the Fields series database expert Tim Mitchell (partner at Linchpin People) shares very interesting conversation related to how to understand SSIS Parameters in Parent-Child ETL Architectures. In this brief Notes from the Field post, I will review the use of SSIS parameters in parent-child ETL architectures. A very common design pattern used in SQL Server Integration Services is one I call the parent-child pattern.  Simply put, this is a pattern in which packages are executed by other packages.  An ETL infrastructure built using small, single-purpose packages is very often easier to develop, debug, and troubleshoot than large, monolithic packages.  For a more in-depth look at parent-child architectures, check out my earlier blog post on this topic. When using the parent-child design pattern, you will frequently need to pass values from the calling (parent) package to the called (child) package.  In older versions of SSIS, this process was possible but not necessarily simple.  When using SSIS 2005 or 2008, or even when using SSIS 2012 or 2014 in package deployment mode, you would have to create package configurations to pass values from parent to child packages.  Package configurations, while effective, were not the easiest tool to work with.  Fortunately, starting with SSIS in SQL Server 2012, you can now use package parameters for this purpose. In the example I will use for this demonstration, I’ll create two packages: one intended for use as a child package, and the other configured to execute said child package.  In the parent package I’m going to build a for each loop container in SSIS, and use package parameters to pass in a value – specifically, a ClientID – for each iteration of the loop.  The child package will be executed from within the for each loop, and will create one output file for each client, with the source query and filename dependent on the ClientID received from the parent package. Configuring the Child and Parent Packages When you create a new package, you’ll see the Parameters tab at the package level.  Clicking over to that tab allows you to add, edit, or delete package parameters. As shown above, the sample package has two parameters.  Note that I’ve set the name, data type, and default value for each of these.  Also note the column entitled Required: this allows me to specify whether the parameter value is optional (the default behavior) or required for package execution.  In this example, I have one parameter that is required, and the other is not. Let’s shift over to the parent package briefly, and demonstrate how to supply values to these parameters in the child package.  Using the execute package task, you can easily map variable values in the parent package to parameters in the child package. The execute package task in the parent package, shown above, has the variable vThisClient from the parent package mapped to the pClientID parameter shown earlier in the child package.  Note that there is no value mapped to the child package parameter named pOutputFolder.  Since this parameter has the Required property set to False, we don’t have to specify a value for it, which will cause that parameter to use the default value we supplied when designing the child pacakge. The last step in the parent package is to create the for each loop container I mentioned earlier, and place the execute package task inside it.  I’m using an object variable to store the distinct client ID values, and I use that as the iterator for the loop (I describe how to do this more in depth here).  For each iteration of the loop, a different client ID value will be passed into the child package parameter. The final step is to configure the child package to actually do something meaningful with the parameter values passed into it.  In this case, I’ve modified the OleDB source query to use the pClientID value in the WHERE clause of the query to restrict results for each iteration to a single client’s data.  Additionally, I’ll use both the pClientID and pOutputFolder parameters to dynamically build the output filename. As shown, the pClientID is used in the WHERE clause, so we only get the current client’s invoices for each iteration of the loop. For the flat file connection, I’m setting the Connection String property using an expression that engages both of the parameters for this package, as shown above. Parting Thoughts There are many uses for package parameters beyond a simple parent-child design pattern.  For example, you can create standalone packages (those not intended to be used as a child package) and still use parameters.  Parameter values may be supplied to a package directly at runtime by a SQL Server Agent job, through the command line (via dtexec.exe), or through T-SQL. Also, you can also have project parameters as well as package parameters.  Project parameters work in much the same way as package parameters, but the parameters apply to all packages in a project, not just a single package. Conclusion Of the numerous advantages of using catalog deployment model in SSIS 2012 and beyond, package parameters are near the top of the list.  Parameters allow you to easily share values from parent to child packages, enabling more dynamic behavior and better code encapsulation. • Why does the add() method in PHP-GTK cause 2 parent-set signals to be emmitted?

    - by JW
I am going through the book PHP-GTK and trying out listing 4-1 One thing I notice is that with the following code some odd output occurs: <?php //listing4-1b.php function setParentFunction($widget) { //get the widgets parent $parent = $widget->get_parent(); //echo a mssg about the widget echo 'The ' . get_class($widget) .' has '; if (isset($parent)) { //ech the class of the parent widget echo 'a '. get_class($parent); } else { //the widget does not have a parent echo 'no'; } echo " parent. \n"; } //start with widgets $frame = new GtkFrame('i am a frame'); $button = new GtkButton('i am a button'); //connect the event to our test function $button->connect('parent-set', 'setParentFunction'); $frame->add($button); ?> The output is: # php listing4-1b.php The GtkButton has a GtkFrame parent. The GtkButton has no parent. Now, I can understand why the first signal is getting emitted and causing the first line of output: The GtkButton has a GtkFrame parent. But, I don't understand why the 2nd 'parent change' is reported to have happened: The GtkButton has no parent. I expected only to see the signal getting emitted / and handled only once in this short script. Does this 2nd signal get emmitted when the script closes down?

  • Window management shortcuts?

    - by pwnguin
I've got a single massive monitor at home, and I've decided to mimic the Windows 7 window tiling shortcuts. I found a few guides online using wmctrl, and it's going well, save one thing: maximized windows don't respond to it. gconftool-2 --type string --set /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_1 "wmctrl -r :ACTIVE: -e 0, 0,0, `xwininfo -root | grep Width | awk '{ print ($2/2)}'`, `xwininfo -root | grep Height | awk '{ print $2 }'`" (I've added line returns to make an otherwise massive one-liner readable.) I've bound this to a hotkey and it works, unless the window is maximized. Any ideas on how to fix this up?

  • LXDE keybind "Raise" window not working

    - by Campa
I am using LXDE* over Ubuntu Oneiric on a DELL Studio-XPS 64-bit machine and I can't get the keybind for raising windows to work. In my ~/.config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml I put: <!-- Iconify window: it works. --> <keybind key="A-Down"> <action name="Iconify"/> </keybind> <!-- Raise window: does nothing. --> <keybind key="A-Up"> <action name="Focus"/> <action name="Raise"/> </keybind> then I openbox --reconfigure, but no rasing windows keybindings. I could use the NextWindow action, but... not really the same. • run a script on window switch (on alt-tabbing into/outof a particular app)

    - by hwjp
I'd like to run a script whenever I switch into or out of a window. Specifically, I have a "toggle touchpad on/off" script, which i want to run whenever I switch into or out of gvim. so, is there any kind of hook for that? even something that can be run whenever alt-tab is detected, as long as it can tell what window you're going from/to? I'm using gnome-shell, if that makes any difference. [edit] Have started looking into gnome-shell-extensions, which seem to be written in javascript, so might not be too hard to hack one together myself...

  • PHP object parent/child recursion

    - by Damien
I've got a parent-child OO relationship. Parent obejcts has many child objects and every child object knows about it's parent by reference. The parent can be a child too (basically its a tree). When i do a var_dump() on the root object it says ["parent"]=RECURSION many times and the generated description will be really long. I'm wondering if i do something wrong. If yes, i'm interested in the "best practice". Thanks for the help!

  • [C++] Parent-Child scheme

    - by rubenvb
I'm writing a class that holds a pointer to a parent object of the same type (think Qt's QObject system). Each object has one parent, and the parent should not be destroyed when a child is destroyed (obviously). class MyClass { public: MyClass(const MyClass* ptr_parent): parent(parent){}; ~MyClass(){ delete[] a_children; }; private: const MyClass* ptr_parent; // go to MyClass above MyClass* a_children; // go to MyClass below size_t sz_numChildren; // for iterating over a_children } (Excuse my inline coding, it's only for brevity) Will destroying the "Master MyClass" take care of all children? No child should be able to kill it's parent, because I would then have pointers in my main program to destroyed objects, correct? Why might you ask? I need a way to "iterate" through all subdirectories and find all files on a platform independent level. The creation of this tree will be handled by native API's, the rest won't. Is this a good idea to start with? Thanks!

  • Infinite loop during A* algorithm

    - by Tashu
    The A* algorithm is used by enemies to have a path to the goal. It's working but when sometimes I placed a tower in a grid (randomly) it produces a stack overflow error. The A* algorithm would iterate the enemy and find its path and pass the list to the enemy's path. I added debug logs and the list that I'm getting it looks like it would arrive from start cell to goal cell. Here's the log - 06-19 19:26:41.982: DEBUG/findEnemyPath, enemy X:Y(4281): X2.8256836:Y3.5 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/findEnemyPath, grid X:Y(4281): X3:Y2 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/START CELL ID:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/GOAL CELL ID:(4281): 47 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 38(4281): passThrough:0.0 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 39(4281): passThrough:8.875 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 39 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 39 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 39 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 40(4281): passThrough:7.9375 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 40 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 40 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 52(4281): passThrough:8.9375 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 52 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 52 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 53(4281): passThrough:7.96875 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 53 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 28(4281): passThrough:8.9375 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 28 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 65(4281): passThrough:8.984375 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 65 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 65 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 66(4281): passThrough:7.9921875 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 66 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 78(4281): passThrough:8.99609375 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 78 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 79(4281): passThrough:7.998046875 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 79 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 80(4281): passThrough:6.9990234375 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 80 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 80 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 81(4281): passThrough:5.99951171875 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 81 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 81 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 82(4281): passThrough:4.999755859375 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 82 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 82 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 83(4281): passThrough:3.9998779296875 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 83 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 71(4281): passThrough:2.99993896484375 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 71 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 59(4281): passThrough:1.99951171875 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 47(4281): passThrough:0.99951171875 Then, the goal cell would be iterating its parent till start cell to break off the loop. private void populateBestList(Cell cell, List<Cell> bestList) { bestList.add(cell); if (cell.parent.start == false) { Log.d("ID:", ""+cell.id); Log.d("ParentID:", ""+cell.parent.id); populateBestList(cell.parent, bestList); } return; } The log with error above would show like this - 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 47 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ParentID:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ParentID:(4281): 71 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 71 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ParentID:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ParentID:(4281): 71 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 71 71 and 59 would switch over and goes on. I thought the grid is the issue due to the fact that enemies are using the single grid so I make the parent, start, and goal clear before starting the A* algorithm for an enemy. for(int i = 0; i < GRID_HEIGHT; i++) { for(int j = 0; j < GRID_WIDTH; j++) { grid[i][j].parent = null; grid[i][j].start = false; grid[i][j].goal = false; } } That didn't work. I thought it might be something related to this code, but not sure if I'm on right track - neighbor.parent = best; openList.remove(neighbor); closedList.remove(neighbor); openList.add(0, neighbor); Here's the code of the A* algorithm - private List<Cell> findEnemyPath(Enemy enemy) { for(int i = 0; i < GRID_HEIGHT; i++) { for(int j = 0; j < GRID_WIDTH; j++) { grid[i][j].parent = null; grid[i][j].start = false; grid[i][j].goal = false; } } List<Cell> openList = new ArrayList<Cell>(); List<Cell> closedList = new ArrayList<Cell>(); List<Cell> bestList = new ArrayList<Cell>(); int width = (int)Math.floor(enemy.position.x); int height = (int)Math.floor(enemy.position.y); width = (width < 0) ? 0 : width; height = (height < 0) ? 0 : height; Log.d("findEnemyPath, enemy X:Y", "X"+enemy.position.x+":"+"Y"+enemy.position.y); Log.d("findEnemyPath, grid X:Y", "X"+height+":"+"Y"+width); Cell start = grid[height][width]; Cell goal = grid[ENEMY_GOAL_HEIGHT][ENEMY_GOAL_WIDTH]; if(start.id != goal.id) { Log.d("START CELL ID: ", ""+start.id); Log.d("GOAL CELL ID: ", ""+goal.id); //Log.d("findEnemyPath, grid X:Y", "X"+start.position.x+":"+"Y"+start.position.y); start.start = true; goal.goal = true; openList.add(start); while(openList.size() > 0) { Cell best = findBestPassThrough(openList, goal); //Log.d("ID:", ""+best.id); openList.remove(best); closedList.add(best); if (best.goal) { System.out.println("Found Goal"); System.out.println(bestList.size()); populateBestList(goal, bestList); /* for(Cell cell : bestList) { Log.d("ID:", ""+cell.id); Log.d("ParentID:", ""+cell.parent.id); } */ Collections.reverse(bestList); Cell exit = new Cell(13.5f, 3.5f, 1, 1); exit.isExit = true; bestList.add(exit); //Log.d("PathList", "Enemy ID : " + enemy.id); return bestList; } else { List<Cell> neighbors = getNeighbors(best); for (Cell neighbor : neighbors) { if(neighbor.isTower) { continue; } if (openList.contains(neighbor)) { Cell tmpCell = new Cell(neighbor.position.x, neighbor.position.y, 1, 1); tmpCell.parent = best; if (tmpCell.getPassThrough(goal) >= neighbor.getPassThrough(goal)) { continue; } } if (closedList.contains(neighbor)) { Cell tmpCell = new Cell(neighbor.position.x, neighbor.position.y, 1, 1); tmpCell.parent = best; if (tmpCell.getPassThrough(goal) >= neighbor.getPassThrough(goal)) { continue; } } Log.d("Neighbor's Parent: ", ""+best.id); neighbor.parent = best; openList.remove(neighbor); closedList.remove(neighbor); openList.add(0, neighbor); } } } } Log.d("Cannot find a path", ""); return null; }

  • Ubuntu Screenshot Window Class

    - by Weylin Schreck
I would like to know the class for the "thing" that pops up when you take a screen shot using the default screen capture utility in Ubuntu 12.04. When I do a full screen capture it lags a lot because of particular animation I use to open things like drop down menus. Therefore I’d like to disable that only. If someone could provide me with the window "class=" or however I would disable the animation there it would be greatly appreciated.

  • jQuery parent of a parent

    - by Bloudermilk
Hello, I am currently trying to find the parent of a parent of an element. I have a link being clicked that is in a <td>, and I'd like to get the <tr> object. Why wont "$(this).parent().parent()" work? What will? Thanks, Brendan Edit: It appears an error in my syntax was throwing the whole thing off. "$(this).parent().parent()" does in fact work, but I wound up going with $(this).closest('tr')" because it seems like the most efficient solution.

  • Program to Hide/show Given window with hotkey?

    - by Wayne Werner
Hi, I'm fairly sure this program exists, but I don't remember what it was called. There are a few drop-down terminal programs (guake, yakuke, tilde), and I've been a fan of guake for a while. However, since I discovered GNU Screen I've been more interested in using Eterm. But I would like to make it dropdown/hide on keypress, similar to the way Guake does. I remember at some point that someone mentioned a program that allowed you to do similar things with basically any other window. Unfortunately my time spent googling around for terms like "show/hide any terminal ubuntu" have been met with stupid Windows search engine spam. Any clue where I could find the program I'm looking for? Thanks!
