  • Getting lpfnAcceptEx (accpetex) to block in native C++

    - by Alikar
Hello, I've been trying to get the lpfnAcceptEX function in Win32 to block on accept. If this is not possible I was wondering if there was a flag I could accpet or some other function that I could wait on. Right now the program is simply continually creating accepted sockets with no connections behind them. Perhaps I am misunderstanding how this is to work. Is there another function I need to wait on? I am following the example laid out here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms737524(VS.85).aspx Thanks, = Alikar

  • Weird send() problem (with Wireshark log)

    - by Meta
I had another question about this issue, but I didn't ask properly, so here I go again! I'm sending a file by sending it in chunks. Right now, I'm playing around with different numbers for the size of that chunk, to see what size is the most efficient. When testing on the localhost, any chunk size seems to work fine. But when I tested it over the network, it seems like the maximum chunk size is 8191 bytes. If I try anything higher, the transfer becomes extremely, painfully, slow. To show what happens, here are the first 100 lines of Wireshark logs when I use a chunk size of 8191 bytes, and when I use a chunk size of 8192 bytes: (the sender is 192.168.0.102, and the receiver is 192.168.0.100) 8191: http://pastebin.com/E7jFFY4p 8192: http://pastebin.com/9P2rYa1p Notice how in the 8192 log, on line 33, the receiver takes a long time to ACK the data. This happens again on line 103 and line 132. I believe this delay is the root of the problem. Note that I have not modified the SO_SNDBUF option nor the TCP_NODELAY option. So my question is, why am I getting delayed ACKs when sending files in chunks of 8192 bytes, when everything works fine when using chunks of 8191 bytes? Edit: As an experiment, I tried to do the file transfer in the other direction (from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.102), and surprisingly, any number worked! (Although numbers around 8000 seemed to perform the smoothest). So then the problem is with my computer! But I'm really not sure what to check for. Edit 2: Here is the pseudocode I use to send and receive data.

  • Sequential WSASend() calls - can I rely on TCP to put them on the wire in the posting order?

    - by Poni
On Windows I/O completion ports, say I do this: void function() { WSASend("1111"); // A WSASend("2222"); // B WSASend("3333"); // C } If I got a "write-complete" that says 3 bytes of WSASend() A were sent, is it possible that right after that I'll get a "write-complete" that tells me that some or all of B & C were sent, or will TCP will hold them until I re-issue a WSASend() call with the rest of A's data? Or will TCP complete it automatically?

  • Windows service: Listening on socket while running as LocalSystem

    - by Socob
I'm writing a small server-like program in C for Windows (using MinGW/GCC, testing on Windows 7) which is eventually supposed to run as a service with the LocalSystem account. I am creating a socket, and using Windows Sockets bind(), listen() and accept() to listen for incoming connections. If I run the application from the command line (i.e. not as a service, but as a normal user), I have no problems connecting to it from external IPs. However, if I run the program as a service with the LocalSystem account, I can only connect to the service from my own PC, either with 127.0.0.1 or my local address, 192.168.1.80 (I'm behind a router in a small local network). Neither external IPs nor other PCs in the same local network, using my local address, can connect now, even though there were no problems without running as a service. Now, I've heard that networking is handled differently or even not accessible (?) when running as LocalSystem or LocalService or that services cannot access both the desktop and the network (note: my service is not interactive) at the same time due to security considerations. Essentially, I need to find out what's going wrong/how to listen for connections in a service. Is running as NetworkService the same as running as LocalSystem, but with network access? Surely there must be servers that can run as background services, so how do they do it?

  • Can single-buffer blocking WSASend deliver partial data?

    - by CodeAngry
I've pretty much always used send() with sockets and now I'm moving onto the WSA functions. With send(), I have a sendall() helper that ensured all data is delivered even if it didn't happen in one try and a partial send occurred on first call. So, instead of learning the hard way or over-complicating code when I don't have to, decided to ask you: Can a blocking WSASend() send partial data or does it send everything before it returns or fails? Or should I check the bytes sent vs. expected to send and keep at it until everything is delivered? ANSWER: Overlapped WSASend() does not send partial data but if it does, it means the connection has terminated. I've never encountered the case yet.

  • What causes winsock 10055 errors? How should I troubleshoot?

    - by Tom Kerr
I'm investigating some issues with winsock 10055 errors on a chain of custom applications (some of which we control, some not) and was hoping to get some advice on techniques to troubleshoot the problem. No buffer space available. An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full. From research, non-paged pool and ports seem to be the only resources which can cause this error. Is there another resource which might cause 10055 errors? Currently, we have perfmon counters setup on the applications and non-paged pool usage looks low in most circumstances. Open TCP connections looks low and I am unaware of another way to monitor ports. Since it only happens in production, we are unable to use more invasive counters. Is there some other tool or procedure you would recommend to diagnose which application is causing the issue?

  • Firefox on wine crashes on startup on Ubuntu

    - by Iam Zesh
First, let's explain why I want Firefox under wine, and not the Firefox that is shipped out of the box with Ubuntu. I want to use Firefox under wine because I want to use the Widevine addon, which is "at this time not available for linux". Here is what I did so far to install and use Firefox on wine. On Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, I just installed wine like that: sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install wine Then I downloaded the windows installer for Firefox from the mozilla website. I ran the Firefox Setup 25.0.exe file with wine but at the end of the install process when launching Firefox, I got a window notifying me that the program at crashed. I ran Firefox from the command line with wine, to get an idea of what could have went wrong: wine /home/myUser/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Mozilla\ Firefox/firefox.exe fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation (nil) 1 (nil) 0 fixme:process:SetProcessDEPPolicy (1): stub fixme:iphlpapi:NotifyAddrChange (Handle 0x368e8fc, overlapped 0x368e8e0): stub fixme:winsock:WSCGetProviderPath ({e70f1aa0-ab8b-11cf-8ca3-00805f48a192} 0x44fe6f8 0x44fe6b8 0x44fe6e4) Stub! fixme:advapi:RegisterTraceGuidsW (0x1b0e290, 0x39ead80, {509962e0-406b-46f4-99ba-5a009f8d2225}, 3, 0x3974d00, (null), (null), 0x39eadb0,): stub fixme:winsock:WSCGetProviderPath ({e70f1aa0-ab8b-11cf-8ca3-00805f48a192} 0x44fe6f8 0x44fe6b8 0x44fe6e4) Stub! fixme:winsock:WSCGetProviderPath ({11058240-be47-11cf-95c8-00805f48a192} 0x44fe6f8 0x44fe6b8 0x44fe6e4) Stub! fixme:winsock:WSCGetProviderPath ({11058241-be47-11cf-95c8-00805f48a192} 0x44fe6f8 0x44fe6b8 0x44fe6e4) Stub! fixme:winsock:WSCGetProviderPath ({11058241-be47-11cf-95c8-00805f48a192} 0x44fe6f8 0x44fe6b8 0x44fe6e4) Stub! fixme:ntdll:NtLockFile I/O completion on lock not implemented yet fixme:advapi:SetNamedSecurityInfoW L"C:\\users\\myUser\\Application Data\\Mozilla\\Firefox\\Profiles\\cn4oy6kh.default\\extensions.ini" 1 536870916 (nil) (nil) 0x13d40c (nil) fixme:imm:ImmReleaseContext (0x20022, 0x13e850): stub fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32ee18,0x00000000), stub! fixme:shell:ApplicationAssociationRegistration_QueryCurrentDefault (0x143b50)->(L"webcal", 1, 1, 0x32c7a0) fixme:shell:ApplicationAssociationRegistration_QueryCurrentDefault (0x143b50)->(L"ircs", 1, 1, 0x32c7a0) fixme:shell:ApplicationAssociationRegistration_QueryCurrentDefault (0x143b50)->(L"mailto", 1, 1, 0x32c7a0) fixme:shell:ApplicationAssociationRegistration_QueryCurrentDefault (0x143b50)->(L"irc", 1, 1, 0x32c7a0) fixme:alsa:AudioSessionControl_SetGroupingParam (0x153050)->({7b0a93ee-05e7-4576-9cc5-64fdf201f303}, (null)) - stub fixme:alsa:AudioSessionControl_SetGroupingParam (0x153050)->({00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}, (null)) - stub fixme:alsa:AudioSessionControl_UnregisterAudioSessionNotification (0x153050)->(0x6311880) - stub wine: Call from 0x7b839cf2 to unimplemented function dwmapi.dll.DwmGetCompositionTimingInfo, aborting fixme:dbghelp:elf_search_auxv can't find symbol in module Unfortunately I don't know what to do from there on...

  • socket connection failed, telnet OK

    - by cf16
my problem is that I can't connect two comps through socket (windows xp and windows7) although the server created with socket is listening and I can telnet it. It receives then information and does what should be done, but if I run the corresponding socket client I get error 10061. Moreover I am behind firewall - these two comps are running within my LAN, the windows firewalls are turned off, comp1: 192.168.1.2 port 12345 comp1: 192.168.1.6 port 12345 router: 192.168.1.1 Maybe port forwarding could help? But most important for me is to answer why Sockets fail if telnet works fine. client: int main(){ // Initialize Winsock. • Winsock tcp/ip Socket listening but connection refused, race condition?

    - by Wayne
Hello folks. This involves two automated unit tests which each start up a tcp/ip server that creates a non-blocking socket then bind()s and listen()s in a loop on select() for a client that connects and downloads some data. The catch is that they work perfectly when run separately but when run as a test suite, the second test client will fail to connect with WSACONNREFUSED... UNLESS there is a Thread.Sleep() of several seconds between them??!!! Interestingly, there is retry loop every 1 second for connecting after any failure. So the second test loops for a while until timeout after 10 minutes. During that time, netstat -na shows the correct port number is in the LISTEN state for the server socket. So if it is in the listen state? Why won't it accept the connection? In the code, there are log messages that show the select NEVER even gets a socket ready to read (which means ready to accept a connection when it applies to a listening socket). Obviously the problem must be related to some race condition between finishing one test which means close() and shutdown() on each end of the socket, and the start up of the next. This wouldn't be so bad if the retry logic allowed it to connect eventually after a couple of seconds. However it seems to get "gummed up" and won't even retry. However, for some strange reason the listening socket SAYS it's in the LISTEN state even through keeps refusing connections. So that means it's the Windoze O/S which is actually catching the SYN packet and returning a RST packet (which means "Connection Refused"). The only other time I ever saw this error was when the code had a problem that caused hundreds of sockets to get stuck in TIME_WAIT state. But that's not the case here. netstat shows only about a dozen sockets with only 1 or 2 in TIME_WAIT at any given moment. Please help.

  • Wireless internet connection connects but internet does not work (no packets received). Wired does.

    - by Rodney
When I connect my PC via ethernet cable to my ADSL router it works fine. When I connect via Wireless it connects and the internet will work for a random amount of time and then stop working. It stays connected with a strong signal but no packets are received. My laptop/iphone are right next to it and wireless works fine. If I open the Wireless USB status, it says it is connected to my SSID with full strength (54 mps - I am 3 meteres away from my router) and the activty shows as Packets 594 SENT and 105 RECEIVED (this goes up VERY slowly) I have tried the following: Turned off anitvirus and firewall completely. Tested the wifi signal- I am writing this on my laptop which is next to my PC and also has full wifi strength. Tried a different wireless adapter - I dug out an old PCI wireless card - it does the exact same thing. Compared all wireless settings to my laptop. I can ping google.com and it replies (sometimes with packet loss) When I reboot the PC it will connect for a minute or two (random time) and then just stops again. I tried Firefox, IE etc. no joy I have updated all latest versions (Netgear WG111v2) and drivers Checked Event Log - nothing unusual Ping the router (and even connect as admin for the few minutes when the internet does work) Changed the MTU down to 1200 using DrTCP Checked Device Manager for conflicts - none. I ping the router from the PC (192.168.0.10 - 192.168.0.1) and it replies with 4 packets. BUT, on my router admin page (which I access via http on my laptop wirelessly) - if I ping 192.168.0.10 all packets timeout (pinging my laptop 192.168.0.12 works fine) My router admin page shows the leased IP address for 192.168.0.10 (ie it is definitely talking to the router initially) Now I am out of ideas - please help. I think it is an OS/Software issue as I have tried 2 different wireless adapaters (PCI and USB) with the same result but all other wireless devices work fine around mine). It's not the firewall. It is getting assigned an IP address correctly (my PC gets 192.168.0.10, my laptop is .12) It is assigned by DHCP. As soon as I plug in the ethernet cable it all works fine. Repairing the adapter sometimes helps but it will always stop working after a random time. The wireless adapter always shows as connected with Excellent signal but the internet does not work. I am running Windows XP SP3 and have tried a Netgear WG111v2 USB adapter. Thanks in advance! UPDATE: The internet seems to be working, it is just either sending packets too small or slow to work (some small pages load bits of them very slowly but then hang). • Are .dll files loaded once for every program or once for all programs?

    - by Nilbert
I have a simple small question which someone who knows will be able to answer easily, I searched google but couldn't find the answer. There are many programs running at once on a computer, and my question is: when a program loads a DLL, does it actually load the DLL file or does it find the memory in which the DLL is already loaded? For example, is ws2_32.dll (winsock 2) loaded for every program that uses winsock, or is it loaded once and all programs that use it use the same memory addresses to call the functions?

  • how to install ipv4 via a cmd windows xp

    - by Kevin Babb
I need to script a way to install IPV4 on windows xp the reason is i have many pc with a corrupt win sock registry so the fix Microsoft has is to delete the reg keys hklm/system/currentcontolset/services/winsock and winsock2 and then to run a netsch ip reset which creates the winsock2 part of the registry then the part i need to script is go to network adapter properties goto tcpip and install a new protocol and select tcp/ip and install it which uses the file c:\windows\inf\nettcpip.inf and then this creates the winsock part is there a way to script this part?? i have looked and cant find anything

  • How to use data receive event in Socket class?

    - by affan
I have wrote a simple client that use TcpClient in dotnet to communicate. In order to wait for data messages from server i use a Read() thread that use blocking Read() call on socket. When i receive something i have to generate various events. These event occur in the worker thread and thus you cannot update a UI from it directly. Invoke() can be use but for end developer its difficult as my SDK would be use by users who may not use UI at all or use Presentation Framework. Presentation framework have different way of handling this. Invoke() on our test app as Microstation Addin take a lot of time at the moment. Microstation is single threaded application and call invoke on its thread is not good as it is always busy doing drawing and other stuff message take too long to process. I want my events to generate in same thread as UI so user donot have to go through the Dispatcher or Invoke. Now i want to know how can i be notified by socket when data arrive? Is there a build in callback for that. I like winsock style receive event without use of separate read thread. I also do not want to use window timer to for polling for data. I found IOControlCode.AsyncIO flag in IOControl() function which help says Enable notification for when data is waiting to be received. This value is equal to the Winsock 2 FIOASYNC constant. I could not found any example on how to use it to get notification. If i am write in MFC/Winsock we have to create a window of size(0,0) which was just used for listening for the data receive event or other socket events. But i don't know how to do that in dotnet application.

  • System halts for a fraction of second after every 2-3 seconds

    - by iSam
I'm using Windows 7 on my HP ProBook 4250s. The problem I face is that my system halts for a fraction of second after every 2-3 seconds. These jerks are not letting me concentrate or work properly. This happens even when I'm just typing in notepad while no other application is running. I tried to install every driver from HP's website and there's no item in device manager marked with yellow icon. • Can't communicate with Primary DNS Server

    - by horsley
A computer, with Windows 7, can't access any website by domain suddenly. Whether this computer use a wired link or connect to the WLAN, The fault persists IP and DNS obtained automatically, and seems normal (ipconfig /all return the correct info) I can visit websites by using HTTP proxy The DNS server is available, other computer in my room works properly. I can ping myself, the gateway and any other IP, but domains I can use nslookup and obtain the correct IP info There are some error information in the event log about dns client events explaining the client can not verify the DNS server available Windows network diagnosis explain that Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (Primary DNS Server) I guess the dns client should be blame. I tried to do the following things but the fault persist. Reinstall the driver of network adapter Reset TCP/IP (netsh int ip reset) Reset Winsock (netsh winsock reset) Reset LSP I don't want to reinstall the whole os, what should I do?

  • Determining whether compiling on Windows or other system

    - by NumberFour
Hi, Im currently developing a cross-platform C application. Is there any compiler macro which is defined only during compilation on Windows, so I can #ifdef some Windows specific #includes? Typical example is selecting between WinSock and Berkeley sockets headers: #ifdef _WINDOWS #include <winsock.h> #else #include <sys/socket.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #include <sys/un.h> #include <arpa/inet.h> #include <netdb.h> #endif So the thing Im looking for is something like that _WINDOWS macro. Thanks for any tips.

  • Linux and I/O completion ports?

    - by someguy
Using winsock, you can configure sockets or seperate I/O operations to "overlap". This means that calls to perform I/O are returned immediately, while the actual operations are completed asynchronously by separate worker threads. Winsock also provides "completion ports". From what I understand, a completion port acts as a multiplexer of handles (sockets). A handle can be demultiplexed if it isn't in the middle of an I/O operation, i.e. if all its I/O operations are completed. So, on to my question... does linux support completion ports or even asynchronous I/O for sockets?

  • boost::asio::io_service throws exception

    - by Ace
Okay, I seriously cannot figure this out. I have a DLL project in MSVC that is attempting to use Asio (from Boost 1.45.0), but whenever I create my io_service, an exception is thrown. Here is what I am doing for testing purposes: void run() { boost::this_thread::sleep(boost::posix_time::seconds(5)); try { boost::asio::io_service io_service; } catch (std::exception & e) { MessageBox(NULL, e.what(), "Exception", MB_OK); } } BOOL WINAPI DllMain(HINSTANCE hinstDLL, DWORD fdwReason, LPVOID lpvReserved) { if (fdwReason == DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH) { boost::thread thread(run); } return TRUE; } This is what the message box shows: winsock: WSAStartup cannot function at this time because the underlying system it uses to provide network services is currently unavailable Here is what MSDN says about it (error code 10091, WSASYSNOTREADY): Network subsystem is unavailable. This error is returned by WSAStartup if the Windows Sockets implementation cannot function at because the underlying system it uses to provide network services is currently unavailable. Users should check: That the appropriate Windows Sockets DLL file is in the current path. That they are not trying to use more than one Windows Sockets implementation simultaneously. If there is more than one Winsock DLL on your system, be sure the first one in the path is appropriate for the network subsystem currently loaded. The Windows Sockets implementation documentation to be sure all necessary components are currently installed and configured correctly. Yet none of this seems to apply to me (or so I think). Here is my command line: /O2 /GL /D "_WIN32_WINNT=0x0501" /D "_WINDLL" /FD /EHsc /MD /Gy /Fo"Release\" /Fd"Release\vc90.pdb" /W3 /WX /nologo /c /TP /errorReport:prompt If anyone knows what might be wrong, please help me out! Thanks.

Client Code: // thanks to cs.baylor.edu/~donahoo/practical/CSockets/code/TCPEchoClientWS.c #include <stdio.h> #include <winsock.h> #include <stdlib.h> #define RCVBUFSIZE 32 // size of receive buffer void DieWithError(char *errorMessage); int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int sock; struct sockaddr_in echoServAddr; unsigned short echoServPort; char *servIP; char *echoString; char echoBuffer[RCVBUFSIZE]; int echoStringLen; int bytesRcvd, totalBytesRcvd; WSAData wsaData; if((argc < 3) || (argc > 4)){ fprintf(stderr, "Usage: %s <Sever IP> <Echo Word> [<Echo Port>]\n", argv[0]); exit(1); } if (argc==4) echoServPort = atoi(argv[3]); // use given port if any else echoServPort = 7; // echo is well-known port for echo service if(WSAStartup(MAKEWORD(2, 0), &wsaData) != 0){ // load winsock 2.0 dll fprintf(stderr, "WSAStartup() failed"); exit(1); } // create reliable, stream socket using tcp if((sock=socket(PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_TCP)) < 0) DieWithError("socket() failed"); // construct the server address structure memset(&echoServAddr, 0, sizeof(echoServAddr)); echoServAddr.sin_family = AF_INET; echoServAddr.sin_addr.s_addr = inet_addr(servIP); // server IP address echoServAddr.sin_port = htons(echoServPort); // establish connection to the echo server if(connect(sock, (struct sockaddr*)&echoServAddr, sizeof(echoServAddr)) < 0) DieWithError("connect() failed"); echoStringLen = strlen(echoString); // determine input length // send the string, includeing the null terminator to the server if(send(sock, echoString, echoStringLen, 0)!= echoStringLen) DieWithError("send() sent a different number of bytes than expected"); totalBytesRcvd = 0; printf("Received: "); // setup to print the echoed string while(totalBytesRcvd < echoStringLen){ // receive up to the buffer size (minus 1 to leave space for a null terminator) bytes from the sender if(bytesRcvd = recv(sock, echoBuffer, RCVBUFSIZE-1, 0) <= 0) DieWithError("recv() failed or connection closed prematurely"); totalBytesRcvd += bytesRcvd; // keep tally of total bytes echoBuffer[bytesRcvd] = '\0'; printf("%s", echoBuffer); // print the echo buffer } printf("\n"); closesocket(sock); WSACleanup(); exit(0); } void DieWithError(char *errorMessage) { fprintf(stderr, "%s: %d\n", errorMessage, WSAGetLastError()); exit(1); } Server Code: // thanks cs.baylor.edu/~donahoo/practical/CSockets/code/TCPEchoServerWS.c #include <stdio.h> #include <winsock.h> #include <stdlib.h> #define MAXPENDING 5 // maximum outstanding connection requests #define RCVBUFSIZE 1000 void DieWithError(char *errorMessage); void HandleTCPClient(int clntSocket); // tcp client handling function int main(int argc, char **argv) { int serverSock; int clientSock; struct sockaddr_in echoServerAddr; struct sockaddr_in echoClientAddr; unsigned short echoServerPort; int clientLen; // length of client address data structure WSAData wsaData; if (argc!=2){ fprintf(stderr, "Usage: %s <Server Port>\n", argv[0]); exit(1); } echoServerPort = atoi(argv[1]); if(WSAStartup(MAKEWORD(2, 0), &wsaData)!=0){ fprintf(stderr, "WSAStartup() failed"); exit(1); } // create socket for incoming connections if((serverSock=socket(PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_TCP))<0) DieWithError("socket() failed"); // construct local address structure memset(&echoServerAddr, 0, sizeof(echoServerAddr)); echoServerAddr.sin_family = AF_INET; echoServerAddr.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY); // any incoming interface echoServerAddr.sin_port = htons(echoServerPort); // local port // bind to the local address if(bind(serverSock, (struct sockaddr*)&echoServerAddr, sizeof(echoServerAddr) )<0) DieWithError("bind() failed"); // mark the socket so it will listen for incoming connections if(listen(serverSock, MAXPENDING)<0) DieWithError("listen() failed"); for (;;){ // run forever // set the size of the in-out parameter clientLen = sizeof(echoClientAddr); // wait for a client to connect if((clientSock = accept(serverSock, (struct sockaddr*)&echoClientAddr, &clientLen)) < 0) DieWithError("accept() failed"); // clientSock is connected to a client printf("Handling client %s\n", inet_ntoa(echoClientAddr.sin_addr)); HandleTCPClient(clientSock); } // NOT REACHED } void DieWithError(char *errorMessage) { fprintf(stderr, "%s: %d\n", errorMessage, WSAGetLastError()); exit(1); } void HandleTCPClient(int clientSocket) { char echoBuffer[RCVBUFSIZE]; // buffer for echostring int recvMsgSize; // size of received message // receive message from client if((recvMsgSize = recv(clientSocket, echoBuffer, RCVBUFSIZE, 0) <0)) DieWithError("recv() failed"); // send received string and receive again until end of transmission while(recvMsgSize > 0){ // echo message back to client if(send(clientSocket, echoBuffer, recvMsgSize, 0)!=recvMsgSize) DieWithError("send() failed"); // see if there's more data to receive if((recvMsgSize = recv(clientSocket, echoBuffer, RCVBUFSIZE, 0)) <0) DieWithError("recv() failed"); } closesocket(clientSocket); // close client socket } How can I fix this?

  • Ogre3D, OGRE_NEW gives editor errors

    - by automaticoo
Hello Game Developers, I am trying to get more experienced with OGRE3D and I am following the basic tutorials on the website. All the code samples compile just fine. The first time I encountered a "error" was in Basic Tutorurial 3. The code line where visual studio says something is not right is : mTerrainGroup = OGRE_NEW Ogre::TerrainGroup(mSceneMgr, Ogre::Terrain::ALIGN_X_Z, 513, 12000.0f); Visual studio compiles this line but it shows a ugly red line beneath it and on mouse hover it says "#define OGRE_NEW new (FILE, LINE, FUNCTION) Error: no instance of overloaded 'operator new' matches the argument list" or if I mouse hover over Ogre::TerrainGlobalOptions() it says "Error: expected a type specifier". I searched on google but couldn't find my answer. I got about a year c++ experience but that was mainly with the WinSock libarys. Thanks in advance.
