  • Is this a Java DateFormat bug?

    The pattern is "dd-MM-yyyy" I think the string "01-01-2010mwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" does not satisfy the pattern, but the following code shows the contrary.   • iphone tableview & webservice

    Hi, I have a tableview, when the user selects a row i call a webservice depending on which row is selected. my problem is i can connect to the webservice but i dont get any response from the webservice. I used soap client to test if webservice is working correctly or not. //rootviewcontroller.m - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {.... //call to webservice [self connectToWebService]; } On debugging i found that my code does not go to any of the following methods -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *) response{} -(void) connection:(NSURLConnection *) connection didReceiveData:(NSData *) data {} -(void) connection:(NSURLConnection *) connection didFailWithError:(NSError *) error{} -(void) connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *) connection {} any suggestions where am i going wrong??? thanks

  • Converting String^ and Collection of String^ to const char*

    Using VS2008 Managed C++ to wrap a dll. The native method takes a series of single const char* values and a collection of char* values. Going to make an example function: Function1(char * value1, TF_StringList& catList); TF_StringList is a dll class with 3 insert methods, the one I want to use is: TF_StringList::insert(const char* str); So I set up a wrapper method of: WrapperClass::callFunction(String^ mvalue1, ArrayList mcatList); mvalue1 is converted to const char* using: const char* value1 = (char*)(Marshal::StringToHGlobalAnsi(mvalue1)).ToPointer(); However, when a get to the collection of strings, I iterate over it getting each string using the index: String^ mstr = mcatList[i]; Have tried every way of converting String^ to const char* and in every case the TF_StringList::insert(const char* str) method throws a C2663 error which has to do with the const-ness of the value. What is the problem?

    I have thos piece of code: Math&&Math.random?Math.floor(Math.random()*10000000000000):Date.getTime(); And as far as i know && is logic operator for AND, so im trying to convert this into PHP and this is where i got: intval(floor(time()/10800000)%10+(rand()?floor(rand()*10000000000000):time())) The problem is that i can't understand the first part Math&& Can anyone help with this one cause i always get negative result, when i should get positive (probably the logic rand-time is not working in my php example)

    I'm having real difficulty with a query involving 3 tables. I need to get the 3 newest users per department grouped by department names. The groups should be sorted by the users.dateadded so the department with the newest activity is first. The users can exist in multiple departments so Im using a lookup table that just contains the userID and deptID. My tables are as follows.   • Facebook - using an external flash application to connect via PHP

    So, I have this application that needs to connect to facebook. It uses php for all of its data access, in older examples of the facebook API, i see people get the UID, and sessionkey from the iframe page, then send them to php and run a function called $facebook-setUser($UID, $sessionKey). This is how the majority of the tutorials online are doing it. That would be great, except the newest facebook API doesn't have any function like that. I have been scouring the web for 2 hours and have found nothing relating to the disappearance of this seemingly critical function. So, I have a flash application that needs to authenticate via a stateless php resource. I would love it if my PHP code could be completely uncaring if the request originated from flash, or iphone, or another application altogether-it should just need userId and and sessionKey. Is this still possible? Thank you in advance for your help! :)

  • Private Java class properties mysteriously reset between method calls....

    I have a very odd problem. A class property is mysteriously reset between method calls. The following code is executed so the constructor is called, then the parseConfiguration method is called. Finally, processData is called. The parseConfiguration method sets the "recursive" property to "true". However, as soon as it enters "processData", "recursive" becomes "false". This problem isn't isolated to a single class -- I have several examples of this in my code. How can this possibly be happening? I've tried initialising properties when they're declared outside any methods, I've tried initialising them in constructors... nothing works. The only complication I can think of here is that this class is invoked by an object that runs in a thread -- but here is one instance per thread, so surely no chance that threads are interfering. I've tried setting both methods to "synchronized", but this still happens.     Hi, I have an Indian company data set and need to extract the City and Zip from the address field: Address Field Example: Gowripuram West, Sengunthapuram Post, Near L.G.B., Karur, Tamilnadu, Karur - 639 002, India As you can see the City is Karur and the zip is followed after the - (hyphen). I need the PHP code to match [city] - [zip] Not sure how to do this I can find the Zip after the Hypen but not sure how to find the City, please note the City can be 2 words.   • Boolean Code Clarity - which style to use? [closed]

    I was wondering what style others' use when writing conditional statements that include boolean types. Currently I'm caught between using two styles. bool foo; if (foo == true) if (foo) if (foo == false) if (!foo) Obviously the first set is a bit more obvious. However, when combining conditions it could get a bit clunky. if (foo == true || blah == false || abc == true) if (foo || !blah || abc) Switching between one style for short conditionals and the other for long conditionals seems like inconsistent coding so it seems like I'd have to choose between one or the other. What do you prefer or consider better style and why?

So i have: Already compiled executable (for whom i don't have the source) A class in that program that i want to call The program doesn't have export for the class, and that's my problem i don't have definition for this class, so is there a way to get a callback to this class? Example: In the compiled executable: foo::bar (example) { printf(example); } My app: CALLBACK(foo::bar, "this text must be passed as argument") Or in other words i want to call a class in other executable (without having its source) and pass arguments to its function.

  • Problem with jquery #find on partial postback

    I have a third party component. It is a calendar control. I have a clientside event on it which fires javascript to show a popup menu. I do everything client side so I can use MVC. dd function MouseDown(oDayView, oEvent, element) { try { e = oEvent.event; var rightClick = (e.button == 2); if (rightClick) { var menu = $find("2_menuSharedCalPopUp"); menu.showAt(200, 200, e); } } catch (err) { alert("MouseDown() err: " + err.description); } } The javascript fires perfectly withe $find intially. I have another clientside method which updates the calendar via a partial postback. Once I have done this all subsequent MouseDowns( rightclicks) which use the $find statment error with 'null'. All similar problems people have out there seem to be around calling javascript after a postback - with solutions being re-registering an event using PageRequestManager or registering a clientside function on the server - et cetera. However, the event is firing, and the javascript working - it's the reference in the DOM that seems an issue. Any ideas?

  • How can I get PHP to compile a LaTeX document if it (www-data) can't get access to the required packages?

    I have a PHP script that compiles LaTeX documents with the use of: exec('cd /path/to/doc && /usr/bin/latexmk -pdf filename.tex'); This is working for some of my LaTeX documents but my latest document doesn't compile and a look at the log reveals: !pdfTeX error: pdflatex (file ecrm1000): Font ecrm1000 at 600 not found ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced! Which I have found is the result of LaTeX not being able to see the required font packages. When I run the same compile command under my username the document compiles as it should. So my question is, how can I get PHP (executing as www-data) to get access to the necessary LaTeX packages? I have tried installing the required package under the www-data account using: sudo -u www-data sudo apt-get install texlive-fonts-recommended but it askes for www-data's password, which I don't believe was set by me and isn't anything I've thrown at it. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 if it's any help.

  • Setting up a domain using WAMP and NameCheap's DNS service

    So, I've been working on this for far longer than I should be and I'm quite thoroughly perplexed and lost. I apologize if this turns out to be a facile question, but I'm entirely befuddled and very much in need of some guidance. Earlier today I registered a cheap .info domain on NameCheap just to play around with as I learn webdev. I have WAMP installed on my computer and I've been testing my projects through localhost. I thought it would be a good idea to have a domain at my disposal in order to understand how it works and better test my work. NameCheap has a complimentary DNS service (not that I entirely understand what DNS is, although I tried), so I'm using that. I direct both the "@" and "www" host names to my IP address, as shown in the below tutorial: https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/319/78/how-can-i-setup-an-a-address-record-for-my-domain However, now when I go to the URL of the domain I bought, it confronts me with a login box that seems to be coming from my wifi network. How do I set this up so that it hosts the information in my WAMP server? Thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it. And, as a side-note, what should read (print or online) to better understand the structure of the internet? I've been studying HTML/CSS/Javascript, but I'm not sure where to look for pragmatic and comprehensive information on how the internet works and how to utilize it as a website administrator.   • Internet and Intellisense bad for your memory?

    Having programmed for a while now I have noticed that I am becoming more and more reliant on the internet and intellisense to do my job. But I was wondering how much that has effected my knowledge over the past year or so. But does this matter? For example I am more likely now to remember that when I need to program against objects I have no knowledge about, I will go to the System.Reflection namespace and a quick look down the list will provide me with enough detail to get going again. But if you was to ask me which classes etc are required I would struggle to name them all. This problem of remembering seems to manifest itself more when going for interviews when people seem to focus more on the minute detail of obscure areas of the .NET framework and not on the wide and varied knowledge and experience of the applicant. Anyway I digress. Does anyone else think that maybe its time to turn of the intellisense and try and find better ways to learn, then quick fixes and work arounds of the internet?

  • Using twitter gem to signup and authenticate users

    Hi, I'd like to allow users the option to register using their Twitter account. Basically, I'll present them with a standard signup form (name, login, email, pwd, pwd_confirm) as well as a "Signup with Twitter" link. If a user chooses to signup with Twitter creds, then I'll create a user record in db. Then I'd like to be able to allow a user to authenticate using their Twitter creds on returning visits. Also, I'm using restful_authentication, so I need to have this work within that context. What is the best way to do this? I haven't been to find any tutorials on allowing the signup and authentication pieces. Most examples just show how to authenticate a Twitter user into your app. Thanks.
