    How do YOU debug a Scala program? I mean YOU as in the person posting the Answer :) Please answer only from personal experience, not from stuff you've heard or read on the Internet. You should not believe everything you read on the Internet, especially tales of complex open-source software configurations that actually work :-) The are many Java tools which claim to support Scala in some way or another, but I have so far struck out in trying to get any one of them to actually let me set a breakpoint in Scala code and step through it. These are big, major open-source IDEs I'm talking about here. The main problem in getting a debugger to work seems to be the "version hell" with fast-changing IDEs, Plug-Ins, JDKs, and the Scala language itself. Hence, the more detailed re-statement of the question is appropriate: What is the exact version number of the IDE, Plug-In, JDK, Scala, and even Operating System, that you are successfully using?   • Suggestions for a good IDE for DB2

    Hi all, I know, I know... it's a horrible fate but I am forced to work in an environment with DB2 on the back end. OK just kidding but the truth is I do like MSSQL's data studio a lot, and well IBM's tool is sorda crummy in my opinion... I was using the free version of Toad but I just got a new 64bit machine which is nice and all but there isn't a free version of Toad that I can find for win7 64. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good IDE to use with DB2? Being a developer I really just do a lot of looking at the DB structure and querying to see what I get back and how I want to get things back etc... Thanks for any advice!

  • How Do I Setup the Notepad++ Run Command for Ruby?

    I'm trying to setup the Notepad++ IDE so that when I press F6 the Ruby script I'm editing will run. After searching the internet I've found that putting [cmd /K ruby "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)"] without the brackets into the run dialogue box that pops up when I press F5 will run basic scripts in the Command Prompt (I'm using Windows 7). However, if my code loads any external data such as .txt files, or as I've found with Gosu, loads any image files, Ruby complains that things do not exist which do in fact exist. I know my code and Ruby installation (Ruby 1.9.3) are fine because prior to now I've been using FreeRIDE, an older, somewhat buggy IDE that I've grown tired of, and my code runs fine when I press F5 using that IDE.   • Are there any good materials or examples on creating a custom Designer in the Delphi IDE

    I am working on creating a custom form designer in the Delphi IDE. I'm trying to use the RegisterCustomModule, TBaseCustomModule, and ICustomModule functions, classes, and interfaces. My first question on this pointed me to the Delphi Developer's Handbook and the idea that I could even create a custom form designer. However, that book seems to be all Delphi 3 information and things have really changed since then. I'm not finding any material in the Delphi Help file, and searches have not returned very much. I did find the Accidental Programmer's page on the Open Tools, but that looks like it was last up dated in 1998? It does at least have the correct unit names and uses the new interfaces. I'm willing to track down and buy an older book if that is the best reference.

    Hi, In short: is there a way to compile and run single file in NetBeans or Visual Studio without having to setup and tinker with projects? I'm currently using code::blocks as my IDE. It's fast and very simple: perfect for my needs as a begginner. I wanted to dive a little deeper and try out a more advanced IDE such as NetBeans or Visual Studio. It appears I have to mess with projects and have a setup that seems overkill for having to compile and run one very simple .c/.cpp source file that contains less than 50-100 lines of code etc. Is there a way around this?

Then, I saved the project, copied the project folder into a pendrive, tried to 'Open Project' in mate's laptop, using the same Java Netbeans IDE version. When I tried to open the frames, they displayed empty labels, without images. What went wrong?

  • Why isn't my new object being seen? C#

    I am getting ready to take a class at a college on C#. I have been reading up on it a lot and decided to start a fun project. Here is what my project consists of: Main Control Form Configuration Form Arduino Program.cs calls Configuration.cs at start. This is where pin modes for the Arduino are set and where a timer is set. When I set these values, they get sent to MainControl.cs. When I hit the "Save" button in Configuration.cs, a MainControl.cs object is created [[I am correct in that?]] All of those values that were sent by Configuration.cs had corresponding setters that set private static variables in MainControl.cs [[ I don't really know if that is the preferred way, I am most definetly open to any suggestion anyone has]] MainControl.cs uses its default constructor, and this constructor calls a method that creates an arduino object from one of the private variables (serialPort) [[ Using this Arduino class Firmata.NET ]] When the arduino object is created, I know (I guess I do) because the form takes a few seconds to come up (As opposed to not using serial port) My problem is this: I do not understand why nothing can see the object I have been very wordy, I apologize if I wasn't concise. Here is the code: public partial class CMainControl : Form { private static string serialPort; public CMainControl() { InitializeComponent(); createArduino(); updateConfig(); // Change label values to values set in configuration } private void createArduino() { Arduino arduino = new Arduino(serialPort); } In Configuration.cs, when I set the serial port through a combobox, the value is sent to MainControl.cs just fine. Here is the error I get: Error 1 The name 'arduino' does not exist in the current context C:\Programming\Visual Studio\Workhead Demo\Workhead Demo\CMainControl.cs 94 13 Workhead Demo Please let me know if anyone can help and/or offer pointers, and please let me know if I didn't post or format anything correctly.   • Installing Plugins from Cloud p2 repository in Eclipse IDE

    I have been recently reading a lot about p2 for a requirement of mine. Most of the p2 documentation online points to p2 for RCP. My requirement is for a plugin repo. I have a plugin that is used within Eclipse IDE. I dnt want to change the repo location but based on the Eclipse Version, if the user looks for Install New Software or Check for Updates it needs to download the respective plugins. My repo currently contains all the plugins for all the versions. but i need to everytime give a different URL to my user based on the Version. For e.g i am using Eclipse 3.7(Indigo). I install the plugin thru Install New Software by adding the p2 Repo URL. Now the user decides to for some requirement move to Eclipse 3.6, I want him to connect to the same p2 Repo URL and download the plugins created for Eclipse 3.6. This is definitely possible using p2 Discovery, or i could categorize the downloads using composite repository but i dnt want to do any of these. Just want to kno is there any API that i can hold on to, so that before processing the URL and finding the updates, i can check the version of Eclipse and redirect it based on the version to an internal URL. This is possible in RCP, want to kno if i can do it in Eclipse p2 UI. All the p2 UI looks to be internal classes. Any directives would be appreciated. Malai

  • VB.Net 2008 IDE hanging - MSVB7.dll eating 100% CPU when editing code

    I am having a problem with msvb7.dll eating 50%+ cpu on my dual core system. This usually lasts 10-30 seconds or so, during which time the IDE is non-responsive. This occurs when I do pretty much anything in the text editor, and can be replicated by simply adding blank lines to a function, and then deleting them. Or pasting some code. Or... lotsa stuff. SP1 installed I had DevExpress' refactor/coderush, components, and codeit.right installed, but have removed all 3 of them. (I had installed the latest version of Refactor Pro! (9.3.4), perhaps the day before) I have tried a VS.NET Repair. There is a kb that referenced some cpu destroying with vb, but it was included in SP1 Also: The solution consists of ~30 VB projects and 2 C# projects 8 other developers aren't having any issues with this (or at least not the SAME issues, we all have em) Clean get from TFS was done Project builds properly, can can even debug. This doesn't seem to happen on really small solutions, but perhaps it does and it just goes away super quick. Any clues at all as to what might be causing this, or how to fix it? I REALLY don't want to lose another day uninstalling and reinstalling and patching and so on =) If that even fixes it.     We use Eclipse as the IDE for developing all sorts of Java/J2EE applications in our 150 people odd IT department. One of the common problems we have been seeing is that developers download and install different versions of Eclipse and plugins based on their personal likes and dislikes. We have been trying to bring some consistency to this and have standardized on the version and the plugins that developers should be using. So the problem now is how do we distribute this installation to the team. We have zipped the directories and shared it through a shared drive. But I am looking for a better solution using some kind of provisioning tool for Eclipse using which people can install the IDE or get updates. Has anyone faced this problem? What are your solutions to this? How do you ensure a standard Eclipse environment across developers? I found Yoxos as a potential solution to this. Does anyone have any experience with it? Can p2 be used to do this?

    Hi, I'm currently evaluating Selenium and I can imagine that I will have to perform certain steps in my tests over and over again. Is there any way to wrap several steps from a selenium test into one single step which can be referenced by other tests?     Hi I want to get a bunch of dom-objects with xpath and loop through those to check if they contains a specified text, is this possible in the Selenium IDE or rc? Perl is my prefered language XPath would be something like xpath=//tbody[@class='table-data']/tr/td/div[@class='table-item'] This would return all row items in the table, but i need to check each div if contains a specified text string.
