The application have a good internet connection and there is no problem reaching the app server-side api. I see in analytics that lots of startups and click-events the past few days are lost, even I know the traffic is normal since i can see statistics from the the server api. In the analytics reports I see a day by day under-reporting. So the problems seems to be spreading/growing to all the devices using this application. Im wondering why google does not answer this in their mail-groups - several people have complained about this...well, well... I found this thread relevant: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/682560/java-net-socketexception-broken-pipe But, I'm still not sure if there is anything I can do to fix it or not. If there is nothing I can do to fix it, I guess its not my fault that it got broken. But i got a feeling it is, since the problem got dramatically worse on the last deploy to Android market. • Python's Popen cleanup

  I wanted to use a python equivalent to piping some shell commands in perl. Something like the python version of open(PIPE, "command |"). I go to the subprocess module and try this: p = subprocess.Popen("zgrep thingiwant largefile", shell=True, stdout=subprocess.PIPE) This works for reading the output the same way I would in perl, but it doesn't clean itself up. When I exit the interpreter, I get grep: writing output: Broken pipe spewed all over stderr a few million times. I guess I had naively hoped all this would be taken care of for me, but that's not true. Calling terminate or kill on p doesn't seem to help. Look at the process table, I see that this kills the /bin/sh process, but leaves the child gzip in place to complain about the broken pipe. What's the right way to do this?

• Force validation on bound controls in WPF

  Hello. I have a WPF dialog with a couple of textboxes on it. Textboxes are bound to my business object and have WPF validation rules attached. The problem is that user can perfectly click 'OK' button and close the dialog, without actually entering the data into textboxes. Validation rules never fire, since user didn't even attempt entering the information into textboxes. Is it possible to force validation checks and determine if some validation rules are broken? I would be able to do it when user tries to close the dialog and prohibit him from doing it if any validation rules are broken. Thank you.

AnsiString broken(const AnsiString &format,...) { ... the rest, totally identical ... } My calling code is like this:- AnsiString s1, s2; s1 = working("Hello %s", "World"); s2 = broken("Hello %s", "World"); But, s1 contains "Hello World", while s2 has "Hello (null)". I think this is due to the way va_start works, but I'm not exactly sure what's going on.

• NUnit-console 2.5.4 not capable of running multiple assemblies?

  I am having problems running tests with the command line NUnit test runner. I am using version 2.5.4 with .NET 4 on an x64 machine. Using the following line results in a failure "Could not load file or assembly 'bar' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified." nunit-console-x86 foo.dll bar.dll /framework=4.0.30319 If I reverse the dll file names it complains about not finding 'foo' instead... It works if I run them separately like: nunit-console-x86 foo.dll /framework=4.0.30319 Also the tests of the second file works if I run: nunit-console-x86 bar.dll /framework=4.0.30319 Before upgrading our projects to 4.0 we used NUnit 2.5.2 and the same command line tool options and at that point the runner worked well with multiple assemblies. It seems like the ability to run tests on multiple files at the same time is broken... Anyone that can see the same behavior or does it work indicating that my environment is somehow broken? /Per

  Hi, I hope this question isn't tagged as too generic. But this is an honest concern/curiosity I have. Are you people still supporting Internet Explorer 6? Web developers sometimes use the concept of softly degrading their projects in older browsers. When I say "older", I mean mainly Internet Explorer 6. When you softly degrade you still have to waste tons of time tryng to fit things in IE6. This is time consuming and the client usually won`t even mind asking or checking how things look in IE6. So what are you doing when your website is completely broken in IE6? Do you bother to completely fix it and eat up your time or do you simply ignore it (leave broken boxes, opaque PNG files etc.)?

But if I send: <a href="domain.name">Go&nbsp;To</a> then I see the letter that comes with broken styles as there (3D is not my misprint) <div style=3D"margin:10 10 10 10;"><a href=3D"www.google.com">Go=C2=A0To</a></div> Well as the letter goes broken when I insert in the template symbols from national alphabets. Somebody can tell what the problem and check with yourself?

• What key on a keyboard can be detected in the browser but won't show up in a text input?

  I know this one is going to sound weird but hear me out. I have a heart rate monitor that is hooked up like a keyboard to the computer. Each time the heart rate monitor detects a pulse it sends a key stroke. This keystroke is then detected by a web based game running in the browser. Currently I'm sending the following keystroke: (`) In the browser base game I'm detecting the following key fine and if when the user is on any data input screens the (`) character is ignored using a bit of JavaScript. The problem comes when I leave the browser and go back to using the Operating system in other ways the (`) starts appearing everywhere. So my question is: Is there a key that can be sent via the keyboard that is detectable in the browser but wont have any notable output on the screen if I switch to other applications. I'm kind of looking for a null key. A key that is detectable in the browser but has no effect to the browser or any other system application if pressed.

• Can a http server detect that a client has cancelled their request?

  My web app must process and serve a lot of data to display certain pages. Sometimes, the user closes or refreshes a page while the server is still busy processing it. This means the server will continue to process data for several minutes only to send it to a client who is no longer listening. Is it possible to detect that the connection has been broken, and react to it? In this particular project, we're using Django and NginX, or Apache. I assumed this is possible because the Django development server appears to react to cancelled requests by printing Broken Pipe exceptions. I'd love to have it raise an exception that my application code could catch. Alternatively, I could register an unload event handler on the page in question, have it do a synchronous XHR requesting that the previous request from this user be cancelled, and do some kind of inter-process communication to make it so. Perhaps if the slower data processing were handed to another process that I could more easily identify and kill, without killing the responding process...

The mp3 player shall have the functionality of adapting to its user, by analyzing incoming biological sensor data, and from this data the mp3 player will choose a genre for the next song. Given in the assignment is 14 samples of data: One sample consist of Heart Rate, Respiration, Skin Conductivity, Activity and finally the output genre. Below is the 14 samples of data, just for you to get an impression of what im talking about. I have three different states for each sensor: Low, Medium, High. Two observations/output symbols: Rock, Classic In my own opinion I see my start probabilities as the weightened factors for either a Low, Medium or High state in the Heart Rate. So the ideal solution for the AI is that it will learn these 14 sets of samples. And when a users sensor input is received, the AI will compare the combination of states for all four sensors, with the already memorized samples. If there exist a matching combination, the AI will choose the genre, and if not it will choose a genre according to the weightened transition probabilities, while simultaniously updating the transition probabilities with the new data. Is this a right approach to take, or am I missing something ? Is there another way to determine the output probability (read about Maximum likelihood estimation by EM, but dont understand the concept)? Best regards, Casper

• iPhone tethering app source

  I know there are a few apps that allow a jail broken iPhone to tether over WiFi to a computer so the computer can use the iPhone's 3G. What I want to know is if anyone knows of any open source apps that do this, or partial code to handle the majority of this that I could make in to a minimal app? I don't want to jail break since I do official development, but would like to be able to compile and sideload an app on my personal phone to do this. Even without jail broken privileges an app could use an existing wifi connection (adhoc created by the computer) to share its 3G.

• How do you move html from one div to another with Jquery without breaking javascript

  I have two divs for different sections of my webpage, a working and a reference section. One is fixed size, the other is variable sized and they are vertically stacked. I am trying to design it so that if you want to work on something in the reference pane, you click a link and it swaps all the data between the two panes. My idea was to do the following: var working = $("#working_pane").html(); var ref = $("#reference_pane").html(); $("#working_pane").html(ref); $("#reference_pane").html(working); The problem with this, is it seems that any javascript referenced inside of these panes (for example, in place editors) get broken upon switching. No javascript errors occur, it's just that nothing happens, like the javascript ties are broken. Is there any to move the html without breaking the javascript contained?

My reasoning: This is a potential vulnerable point because a simple unfriendly user may fill up your hard drive in no time just by requesting wrong URLs! Some browsers often request resources up front - like for example favicon.ico, even if its not there. This is really annoying. But really I would like to know about a broken link if there exists one in my websites. Should I depend on the URL referrer? The problem with the URL referrer is that I cannot distinguish my internal redirect which may be broken with an unfriendly one from outside. What does the practice suggest?

  I'm using Mime::Lite to create and send E-Mails. Now I need to add support for S/Mime-encryption and finally could encrypt my E-Mail (the only Perllib I could install seems broken, so I'm using a systemcall and openssl smime), but when I try to create a mime-object with it, the E-Mail will be broken as soon as I set the Content-Transfer-Encoding to base64. To make it even more curious, it happens only if I set it via $myMessage->attr. If I'm using the constructor -new everything is fine, besides a little warning which I suppress by using MIME::Lite->quiet(1); Is it a bug or my fault? Here are the two ways how I create the mime-object. • Getting search results from Twitter in php

  I'm attempting to put together a little mashup with some twitter APIs. However, the whole area is new to me (I'm more of an embedded developer dabbling). And frustratingly, every tutorial I am trying in Php is either out of date, not doing what it claims to do, it or is broken. Essentially, I just want a nice bit of example code - say, an HTML file, a connection.js for the JQuery magic, and a php file - 'getsearch' which contains the relevant Curl calls to the API to just return the results for a given search term. Followed the tutorial to the letter at http://www.reynoldsftw.com/2009/02/using-jquery-php-ajax-with-the-twitter-api/ and even downloaded the guy's code and chucked it on my webserver, but it just seems to sit there. I'm relatively competent at php and html, but it's the Curl and the JQuery side of things which is new to me, and would appreciate any thoughts, links, or code suggestions. I've attempted reading the API - but even that seems sparse - and several links are broken to their own tutorials, so that's put me off a bit for now.

  Hi, It's a topic that everyone interests. How can I protect my software against stealing, hacking, reverse engineering? I was thinking: Do my best to protect the program for reverse engineering. Then people will crack it and seed it with torrents. Then I download my own cracked software with a torrent with my own torrent-software. My own torrent-software has then to seed incorrect data (bytes). Of course it has to seed critical bytes. So people who want to steal my software download my wrong bytes. Just that bytes that are important to startup, saving and loading data, etc... So if the stealer download from me (and seed it later) can't do anything with it, because it is broken. Is this idea relevant? Maybe, good torrent-clients check hashes from more peers to check if the packages (containing my broken bytes) I want to seed are correct or not? Thanks

As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus." img ----- src="image1.png" ---- Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation, which in 2012 consisted of over 4,500 sisters and is active in 133 countries.img ----- src="image2.png" ----. She was the recipient of numerous honours including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. She refused the conventional ceremonial banquet given to laureates, and asked that the $192,000 funds be given to the poor in India. img ----- src="image3.png" ---- Now from the above data I need to find how many images the paragraph has and need to get all the image names along with the extensions and should display them in android. Tried with splitting but did not work. Please help me regarding this. Thanks in advance

• What makes a web site 'finished' for delivery to a client?

  Hi, Sorry if this question has already been answered, and sorry if it's too subjective to make sense, or for StackOverflow. I'm delivering a site to a client and I want to send them high-quality HTML/CSS/JS, fully validated, accessible etc. So I'm compiling a list of things to check, and useful tools for doing so, before I hand the code over. Here's a partial list, but what am I missing? Link checking for any broken links I might have missed - W3C link checker HTML validation for accessibility and broken-ness - W3C HTML validator CSS validation - W3C CSS validator Check for slow-loading page elements - Firebug and YSlow plugin What's missing - if you were a client, what else would you want to be sure has been checked? I'm wondering about the etiquette of things like comments, indentation, and minification; is it good practice to sort out all these? And what else have I missed? Thanks :)
