  • LINQ-to-SQL eagerly load entire object graph

    I have a need to load an entire LINQ-to-SQL object graph from a certain point downwards, loading all child collections and the objects within them etc. This is going to be used to dump out the object structure and data to XML. Is there a way to do this without generating a large hard coded set of DataLoadOptions to 'shape' my data?

  • Outputting a bar chart to an iPhone application?

    Right, I really want to output a Bar Graph to an Obj-C iPhone application - now I may be missing a vital SDK class or something; but right now my solution is to embed a WebView and inside that have a JQuery/Flot based graph - not totally ideal I know! Just wondering if anybody has any other creative solutions or whether a WebView/AJAX solution is the way to go? (For the record; my data source will be figures returned from an external source - i.e downloaded from the internet. So I was even toying with having a PHP Proxy/script do all the work on that, return the figures AND a graph to the application - but then I risk placing extra strain on the server!)

Regex Buddy uses the term "catastrophic backtracking" if you do not limit the scope of your Regexes. It seems to be too wide umbrella-term. So: how do you define "Backtracking" GRAPH-theoretically? what is "backtracking" in BFS and DFS?

    I use the GRAPH API with django for Facebook wall postings. Since yesterday, the wall posts only show on the Facebook web app but not the Facebook iPhone app. I tried Yelp, and their postings still show up. How can I debug this? Anyone notice this issue with their Facebook connect? Is this a Facebook algorithm issue. What I would like to know is that how will we find all the nodes that are two steps away from a particular node. Lets suppose I have a node numbered '1' and i would like to know all the nodes that are two steps away from it. I have tried(I am assuming the table name as graph) SELECT FROMNODE FROM GRAPH WHERE TONODE=1 (this is to select all the nodes that are connected to node 1, but I couldn't figure out how would I find all the nodes that are two steps away from node 1??)

  • Posting an action works... but no image

    I'm able to post an open graph action to facebook using the following url: https://graph.facebook.com/me/video.watches with the following post data: video=http://eqnetwork.com/home/video.html?f=8e7b4f27-8cbd-4430-84df-d9ccb46da45f.mp4 It seems to be getting the title from the open graph metatags at the "video" object. But, it's not getting the image (even though one is specified in the metatag "og:image"). Also, if I add this to the post data: picture=http://eqnetwork.com/icons/mgen/overplayThumbnail.ms?drid=14282&subType=ljpg&w=120&h=120&o=1&thumbnail= still no image. Any thoughts? Brian

  • Calculating Divergent Paths on Subtending Rings

    I need to calculate two paths from A to B in the following graph, with the constraint that the paths can't share any edges: hmm, okay, can't post images, here's a link. All edges have positive weights; for this example I think we can assume that they're equal. My naive approach is to use Djikstra's algorithm to calculate the first path, shown in the second graph in the above image. Then I remove the edges from the graph and try to calculate the second path, which fails. Is there a variation of Djikstra, Bellman-Ford (or anything else) that will calculate the paths shown in the third diagram above? (Without special knowledge and removal of the subtending link, is what I mean)

    Just came across FlockDB graph database. Details at github /flockDB. Twitter claims it uses FlockDB for the following: Twitter runs FlockDB on a large cluster of machines. we use it to store social graphs (who follows whom, who blocks whom) and secondary indices at twitter. At first glance, setup and trying it doesn't look straight forward. Have anyone already used it / setup this? If so, please answer the following general queries. What kind of applications is it better suited for? (Twitter claims it is simple and very rough, it remains to see what it meant though) How is FlockDB better than other graph db / noSQL db. Have you setup FlockDB, used it for a application? Early advices any? Note: I am evaluating the FlockDB and other graph databases mainly for learning them. Perhaps, I will build an application for that.

FQL could be an alternative (from table like and subqueries for friend and stream), but FQL seems so buggy in my tests I don't feel comfortable using it in a productive system. Is there anyway to achieve my target using the GRAPH api?

Now let's imagine that the xmlURL variable isn't around to help us - maybe we want to load 3 XML docs, named in sequence, and we want to use throwaway variables inside of a for-loop: for(var i:uint = 3; i > 0; i--){ var xmlURLLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(new URLRequest('content'+i+'.xml')); xmlURLLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, function(e:Event):void{ trace(e.target.src); // I wish this worked... trace(XML(e.target.data)); }); } Suddenly it's not so easy, right?   • Message driven bean not responding until client method is complete

    Hi, I have a MDB deployed on Jboss 4.2.2 and a client on the same server that produces messages and expects a reply from the MDB via a temporary queue created before the message is sent. When I run the client, I see that it creates the message, puts it in the queue and waits for the reply (no problem so far) ... but when I check in the logs I see that the timeout is reached and no response is received. When the timeout occurs and the client's method is complete the MDB starts processing the message that should have been processed the moment the client put it in the queue. As a consequence of this timing issue, when the MDB tries to reply to the temp queue, it fails since the client is already gone. If I run the same client from a remote server, I have no problem... The MDB picks up the message from the queue right away and the client receives its response right after the processing is complete. I'm using container managed transactions. I suspect it has something to do with that... I think the client's "send message/receive reply" might be all be considered a transaction before it commits to put the message in the queue... but I'm not sure if this is correct. If this is the case, why did I not see the same behavior from the remote client? is client managed transaction the default setting and that's what my remote server was using? Any idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance! PJ

    I have a FileSystemWatcher monitoring a directory that receives TIF files from a scanning device. Its necessary to check if the scanning process is done and then read a multipage TIF file, otherwise, the FileSystemWatcher will raise the event before the file be fully scanned. I have something like: private void OnFileCreated(...) { while(IsFileLocked(path)) Thread.Sleep(time); // OK to read } This is what is happening: - Scanner creates the file - FileSystemWatcher detects the file, but its in use - Scanner reads the first page to the file - Scanner releases the file - My code leaves the while(FileInUse(path)) - My code reads the incomplete file (problem) - Scanner adds more pages to the file Let's say the scanner is scanning 100 pages, then, when "OK to read", the file will be incomplete (99 pages left). So, its necessary to know if the file is complete or not. Maybe waiting some time to see if the file is modified, but this time span can be up to hours, because the scanner can get idle scanning the same TIF. Other solution would be checking some flag in the TIF file that indicates that the file is not complete(I've looked for this but don't found anything).

  • Detect if Download is Complete

    I have a very simple and standard PHP force download script. How do I check if/when the download has completed in order to notify the user on the clientside? I don't even need to show the progress in real time, I am only interested in the very specific event: "when the download completes". Based on my research, it seems like it would have to be determined from the serverside as there is noondownloadready event and I don't think it is possible to intercept browser events. So it seems that my best bet would be to compare bytes sent to total bytes with some sort of clientside/severside interaction. I can see in the debugger that it loads fine, but then when I get to detaching, I can't make anything beyond the User object load. (No Decks, no Cards). At first I tried without a transaction to simply "touch" all the fields on the attached object before detaching, but that didn't help. Then I tried adding everything to the default fetch group, but that just generated warnings about GAE not supporting joins. I tried setting the fetch plan's max fetch depth to -1, but that didn't do it.   • complete, monospaced Unicode font?

    I'm looking for a good programming font that lets me add comments and string literals in Unicode, usually Japanese and Chinese along with some Latin and Cyrillic languages. So far the situation seems to be "complete, monospace, free, pick 2" and Google is failing me with this (maybe because there are no good ones?). The best I found is Arial Unicode but it's not monospace, which is a big nuisance for me and the editors I use. Not to mention Python indentation when I'm coding Python. (Links, edits are welcome)

  • Creating line graph/chart in vb.net (VS2008)

    I am reluctant to ask this question because a lot of similar questions have been asked, but after reading through them I am not getting the info I need. I am trying to follow this tutorial and I think it is going to work ok, but I have a lot of data to put in and the tutorial has the reader create the chart data points manually. I want the data points to be generated from an integer which can change while the program is running (thus the chart size needs to change) and the y coordinate of the data points needs to come from an array. I have attempted to "bind" the data but I am messing it up somehow and I don't even think that is the best way to do what I want. Also, I do not have to use the methods suggested in the tutorial, I am looking for the highest quality most efficient way to generate a line graph in vb.net (VS2008) based on the criteria I previously mentioned.

  • jQuery Ajax (beforeSend and complete) working properly on FireFox but not on IE8 and Chrome

    I am using jQuery ajax version 1.4.1 in my MVC application (though the issue I am discussing was same with the old jQuery version 3.2.1) as well, to check during customer registration if the username is already registered. As the user clicks on the "Check Availibility" button, I am showing a busy image in place of the check button (actually hiding the check button and showing the image) while checking the availibility on the server and then displaying a message. It is a Sync call (async: false) and I used beforeSend: and complete: to show and hide the busy image and the check button. This thing is working well on Firefox but in IE 8 and Chrome, neither the busy image appear nor the check button hides rather the check button remained pressed as the whole thing has hanged. The available and not available messages appear correctly though.
