  • Configuring UCM content cache invalidation for a custom portal application

    Recently, I had blogged about enabling the UCM content cache invalidator for Spaces (found here).  This can also be enabled for a WebCenter Custom Portal application as well.  The much overlooked setting is done through the Content Repository connection definition in the JDeveloper Application Resources section.   Enabling the cache invalidator "sweeper" can be invaluable, where UCM content is being updated from within UCM (console) and not within the portal.

    Have you ever been challenged with the situation where your work task asks you to implement functionality in the WebCenter Portal and you browse through the Resource Catalog (Business Dictionary) and find the functionality you need. However when you get started there is small short comings and you ask your self- how can I re-use what is out of the box ca?- I wonder what code I need to use to produce the similar functions and include my new requirements?- Must I write a new taskflow? The answer to above questions are in many times answered with simply you can  do a taskflow customization to out-of-the-box taskflows. In this post I will help you understand how to do such customization. Best described is a 4 step process, see image flow below for illustration: Just to clarify few naming confusions that might occur when go through above process. Customization Role is a function within JDeveloper that will allow you to implement view and flow customizations to existing taskflows WebCenter Portal – Spaces Taskflow Customization Framework this technology scope do not only refer to WebCenter Spaces, this also include WebCenter Portal/Framework A taskflow customization do not overwrite or replace any code, it just creates an additional tip view of the taskflow in the MDS for the current application (WebCenter Portal or WebCenter Spaces) To sum up this simple procedure I also like to help you find your way around the main topic for this post series, this post series is focusing primarily on Content integration with WebCenter Portal, so where can I find content related taskflows in the WebCenter Libraries.   • Avoid Ajax loaded content for search engine bots

    A website I run has a lot of content that is being loaded using Ajax. The reason for using Ajax is that the content generation takes some time (a few seconds), because it loads data from other websites using their respective APIs. My concern is, that search engine bots will not see any useful content. The solution I've been thinking about would be to serve search engine bots differently, so that the content will be displayed directly for them. Technically, this would not be a big problem. My question is: Will search engines (read: Google) consider this behaviour as website cloaking? Are there other concerns I might not have considered?

  • Ubuntu 13.04 on UEFI system with Windows Boot Manager as the main loader

    On my old laptop (legacy BIOS, MBR disk), this was perfectly possible to get working: I turn on the computer and see the Windows Boot Manager I use EasyBCD (or BootPart, or something else) to add an option to the BCD menu which allows me to boot into GRUB, and then into Ubuntu I can't figure how to do this on my new laptop (UEFI, GPT disk), whether in UEFI or legacy mode. Currently I've installed (and even booted!) Ubuntu on my laptop, but only with the help of an external GRUB (on a USB flash drive). How can I add GRUB as an option in the Windows Boot Manager on a UEFI laptop? (No, I don't want to change my primary boot loader. So no, I don't want to overwrite the Windows boot loader with GRUB.)

    Currently I am working in a company as a Manager (software dev). But I only have 6.8 yrs experience. I joined this company as a software engineer and got promoted to SSE, Lead and Manager. Some of my team members are having better experience than me, and I feel like I need to have more exposure/experience to take these roles. I feel like it is better to be an individual contributor learn many things for another couple of years and become a Principal Software Engineer, rather than involving in Management. Options I have: 1. Ask my current employer to make me an individual contributor? 2. Find a new company and join as an SSE to start over? 3. Find a new company for a lead position? Please advice.

  • Xfce Power Manager on Xubuntu 13.10 doesn't work

    The problem is that its actually works, but something works with Xfce Power Manager at the same time. For example, I set that if I pressed Suspend button (on my Lenovo B560 its Fn+F2 hotkey) then system ask me what to do. But when Log out window appears, system goes to suspend. Another example is closing the lid. I set it to lock the screen via Xfce Power Manager, but system still goes to suspend. I thought that it might be laptop-mode-tools, but it's not installed. Before 13.10 I had 13.04 and everything were fine.

    We are moving our projects to TFS 2010 using the SfTS v3 (Scrum for Team System) template. We need to understand how Microsoft Test Manager is supposed to be used in this Scrum process. Specific scenario & question: The QA manager uses Test Manager to create Acceptance Test Work Items (WIs). These new WIs are created and "assigned to" him. The manager doesn't run all the tests, instead he wants to give that responsibility to his staff. How is a QA engineer supposed to know that he has tests to run? Everything says it is assigned to the manager.

  • Ubuntu Software Center and Update Manager fail to open

    After attempting to install Google Chrome i386 the installation failed. I then proceeded to the AMD64 to see if it was the problem but...... My computer froze and I forced shut down. Now apport has a message saying An Error occurred please run Package Manager to fix the problem E:the package google-chrome-stable needs to be reinstalled but but i cant find an archive on it) This usually means your packages have unmet dependencies. Solution anyone PS:Update manager does not work and I don't have Snyaptic. The file itself failed at the real real end and froze everything but the cursor.
