  • How can i use a duration setting on .animate if it is inside the callback from a .fadeOut effect?

    I am trying to just fade the content of section#secondary out and once the content has been faded out, the parent (section#secondary) should animate 'shut' in a slider animation. All this is working however the durations are not and I cannot figure out why. What happens is that the fadeOut uses the appropriate slow speed but as soon as the callback fires (once the content is faded out) the section#secondary animates to width: 0 within a couple of milliseconds and not the 3000 ms ( 3 sec ) I set the animation duration to. Any ideas would be appreciated. PS: I cannot post an example at this point but since this is more a matter of theory of jQuery I don't think an example is necessary here. Correct me if I am wrong..

What's the best way to store the Status field data (field type) and still display a human-readable version in a view (HTML table)? If so, how do I display the correct human readable status in an HTML table in my Rails view, e.g. show "Active" instead of "1" in the HTML table. Should I use an enum? If so, is this easy to localize later? Should I use straight strings, e.g. "Normal", "Active", "Completed" Can you provide a quick code sample of the view helper, controller or view code to make this work?

  • How to build an offline web app using Flask?

    I'm prototyping an idea for a website that will use the HTML5 offline application cache for certain purposes. The website will be built with Python and Flask and that's where my main problem comes from: I'm working with those two for the first time, so I'm having a hard time getting the manifest file to work as expected. The issue is that I'm getting 404's from the static files included in the manifest file. The manifest itself seems to be downloaded correctly, but the files that it points to are not. This is what is spit out in the console when loading the page: Creating Application Cache with manifest http://127.0.0.1:5000/static/manifest.appcache offline-app:1 Application Cache Checking event offline-app:1 Application Cache Downloading event offline-app:1 Application Cache Progress event (0 of 2) http://127.0.0.1:5000/style.css offline-app:1 Application Cache Error event: Resource fetch failed (404) http://127.0.0.1:5000/style.css The error is in the last line. When the appcache fails even once, it stops the process completely and the offline cache doesn't work. The same error was returned every time. I'm certain the issue here is how the server is serving up the files listed in the manifest. Those files are probably being looked up in the wrong place, I guess. I either should place them somewhere else or I need something different in the cache manifest, but I have no idea what. I couldn't find anything online about having HTML5 offline applications with Flask. Is anyone able to help me out?

    So I am beginning to work with Rails and I get some of the concepts but am stuck on an important one. Let's say I have customers which has many jobs and jobs which belongs to customers. How would I go about creating a new job for a customer? I can create a link that goes to customers/1/jobs/new and I can grab the customer ID but how do I tell it that I am creating a job for customer 1?     I have been looking around a bit for info on how to do this. Essentially I have a Model: class SharableUserAsset(db.Model): name = StringProperty() users = ListProperty(users.User) My questions are: What is the best way to associate users to this value where they are not authenticated, visa vi invite from contacts list etc.? Is there a reasonable way to present a list control easily in a djangoforms.ModelForm? Once a user logs in I want to be able to check if that user is in the list for any number of SharableUserAsset class "records", how do I do that? Does user evaluate as a match to an email address or is there a way to look up a valid user against an email address?

    What is the difference between a rules engine and an expert system? Example1: Let's say that I have a program that determines the expiration date of a new driver's license. It takes inputs like visa expiration date, passport number, birthday, etc. It determines the expiration date of the driver's license from this input. It can even give an error if the input did not have enough valid identifications to allow a new driver's license. Example2: Let's say I am making an online version of the game Monopoly. I want the ability to change the rules of the game (say $400 for passing go or no one can buy properties until they land on the same property twice, etc). I have a module in the code to handle these rules. Are these both rules engines or are they expert systems? They both seem so similar. Is it just a synonym?

My question: Is there a method for injecting the Google AJAX Libraries API / jQuery into a page regardless of the onload/onready state?

  • Troubles with list "dropdowns" and which list item gets the dropdown

    I'm working on a project for an MMO "guild" that gives members of the guild randomly generated tasks for the game. They can "block" three tasks from being assigned. The lists will look something like this: <ul> <li class="blocked">Task that is blocked</li> <li class="blocked-open">Click to block a task</li> <li class="blocked-open">Click to block a task</li> </ul> The blocked-open class means they haven't chosen a task to block yet. The blocked task means they've already blocked a task. When they click the list item, I want this to appear: <ul class="tasks-dropdown no-display"> <li><h1>Click a Task to Block</h1></li> <ul class="task-dropdown-inner"> <?php //output all tasks foreach($tasks as $task) { echo '<li class="blocked-option"><span id="'.$task.'">'.$task.'</span></li>'; } ?> <br class="clear" /> </ul> </ul> I don't quite know how, when the user clicks the .blocked-open line-item, to show that dropdown under only the one they clicked. My jQuery looked like this before I became confused. $("li.blocked-open").click(function() { $("ul.no-display").slideToggle("900"); }); $(".blocked-option span").click(function() { var task = $(this).attr('id'); alert("You have blocked: " + task); location.reload(true); }); I tested it by putting the dropdown under a line item in the code, and it worked fine, but when I have more than one dropdown in the code, clicking on one line item toggles all the dropdowns. I'm not sure what to do. :-p.

    I've got multiple divs, each with an ordered list (various lengths). I'm using jquery to add a class to each list item according to its index (for the purpose of columnizing portions of each list).
