  Where do I find this drivers on my .iso image for the server software, or what is the ftp: location to download these files as those are the two options i am given on how to solve this issue. ubuntu-server 11.10, hardware: dell r210 what I am reading is that I am possibly missing 'mpt2sas' driver somewhere in this boot disc. I'm attempting to download a different version in the hopes that the mistake I made was downloading software meant for an AMD architecture.

  Can I use a Windows 7 system restore disc and system image disc (of Windows drive C) to restore WUBI if my computer crashes? I use Deja Dup for backups, and have a CD of the WUBI .iso installation file? I don't want to run Ubuntu in a separate partition because I find it convenient to run Ubuntu as a WUBI because I can use Windows drivers etc. Thanks for any advice.   I had to use an .iso USB to upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04 Ringtail. Great results, except the USB stick install app asked me to provide an identity so I provided the same one I used for 12.10 . Unfortunately it overwrote my other identity with a fresh one, so now I have no ownership of all my previous profiles, etc. A dumb mistake, but is there a way to take ownership of my previous user identity and merge it with the current?

  I've been trying to copy a Proxmox container based on the Ubuntu Precise Standard template to a VirtualBox VM. I am now stuck at a point where my new Ubuntu/VirtualBox VM hangs after the message "Running /scripts/init-bottom ... done" during boot. I started by installing Ubuntu Server 12.04.4 LTS on a VirtualBox VM. Ubuntu Server 12.04.4 LTS was the closest "official" Ubuntu ISO to the Proxmox container OS I could find. I installed all updates on both the Proxmox container and on the VirtualBox VM. The idea was to get same version kernal running on the ProxMox container and VirtualBox VM. sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade ; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo reboot rsync the entire proxmox container to a temporary directory in the VirtualBox VM: cd / mkdir /tmp/backup rsync -e ssh -av --exclude={/dev,/proc,/sys,/tmp,/run,/mnt,/media,/lost+found,/boot,/selinux} root@my_proxmox_container_hostname:/ /tmp/backup Shut down the virtual machine, and boot the VM with a bootable linux image. I used the Desktop image of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, ubuntu-12.04.4-desktop-i386.iso Drop to a root prompt. Mount the VM root filesystem: sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt Remove files from most of /mnt cd /mnt sudo rm -rf bin etc home lib opt sbin root usr var Move all of the files from /mnt/backup into /mnt sudo mv /mnt/tmp/backup/* /mnt Rebooted system. For me, at this point the system freezes after starting, after the message: Running /scripts/init-bottom ... done I've tried reinstalling GRUB and all manner of other thing. I am almost ready to give up.

• 32-bit Ubuntu or 64-bit w/Intel Atom D510 w/4GB RAM?

  (I've seen this question and some related ones, and perhaps this is a duplicate although part of my question is specific to the Atom D510.) I'm going to be installing Ubuntu on a new silent desktop as my latest (and hopefully last) attempt to switch from Windows to Linux for at least most everyday tasks. The new machine is entirely passvely cooled, but as a consequence, not astonishingly powerful — an Atom D510 (dual-core, 1.6GHz, HT) on Intel's D510MO board. That's fine, I won't use it for gaming, (much) video editing, etc. It's a 64-bit processor and I'm maxing the board out at 4GB of RAM (hey, that 1.6 CPU needs all the help it can get), which naturally raises the question of whether to install Ubuntu 64-bit or 32-bit (and if the latter, either live with the missing RAM, or do the PAE kernel dance). Although I've used Linux on servers for years, I'm very nearly a Linux desktop newbie and am not currently in the mood to fight driver wars and such. So if I'm setting myself up for failure with 64-bit, I'll live with the missing ~0.8GB or fiddle with PAE. But if 64-bit is entirely "ready," great, I'm there. So: Do most mainstream apps (now) play nicely with 64-bit Linux? I can't help but notice the "AMD" in the ISO image filename ubuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso and I know AMD lead the way on this stuff — does Ubuntu 64-bit play nicely with Intel processors? Just generally, would you recommend one or the other? (And if anyone has any experience with Ubuntu specifically on the D510 [32-bit or 64-bit] which might lead me one way or t'other, that would be useful.) Thanks in advance.

  My first question on here on SF so please forgive me if I manage to bork the post. :) Anyways, I'm using mod_rewrite on one of my machines with a simple rule that redirects to a webapp on another machine. I'm also setting the header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' on both machines. The problem is that when I hit the rewrite rule, I loose the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header setting. • Error when trying to deploy Windows XP SP3 with WDS

  I have created a WDS server running Windows Server 2008 R2. I have built my custom images of Windows 7 using WAIK and MDT 2010 that are installed on the server. I used this guide to help me through the process. The Windows 7 images that I have created capture and deploy properly. I am attempting to follow the same steps from the guide I linked to capture and deploy a Windows XP SP3 image. I am able to sysprep and capture the reference machine with no errors. I am then able to import the custom .wim that I just captured in to MDT 2010 with no issues either. However when I try to deploy this image to a test virtual machine I get the following error: Deployment Error: I have made sure that the .iso that I am importing the source files from originally to create the sysprep and capture sequence is indeed a Windows XP SP3 iso. When I first select a PE boot environment before I deploy I select the x86 PE boot image that I created originally when making this for my Windows 7 deployments. Could this be the issue? If so how do I make a boot image specific for Windows XP SP3 deployments? I have Googled around for this error and some places point to the deployment image not being able to find setup.exe and other important system files for installing the operating system. If so, how do I add these to the image? Any ideas?

• Xen HVM networking wont work

  I'm trying to get a Xen HVM network working using route however I am failing. Xen PV works fine using Ubuntu but when installing Ubuntu on HVM it fails to pick up the network. I'll let you know now that I'm not that experienced with Xen so I would appreciate any help. vm104 is the HVM thats causing me the problems, here is the configs that I believe should help resolve the problem. • Can't boot flash drive on GIGABYTE motherboard

  Situation When I try to boot from my flash drive, my GIGABYTE 970A-UD3 motherboard returns this: Loading Operating System ... Boot error All other motherboards I've tried support booting from that flash drive (and a backup flash drive). The operating systems I tried on both flash drives were created with usb-creator-gtk (Ubuntu USB Startup Disk Creator). I know that the motherboard understands that there is an operating system on the flash drives because when I erase them, it complains in an ALL CAPS RAGE that there isn't an operating system, which is correct. How can I boot a flash drive that's bootable from other motherboards on this motherboard? Qualification This question is not a duplicate of this one because directly writing to the flash drive as an ISO 9660 (dd if=operating_system.iso of=/dev/sdb) still does not have the motherboard recognize the operating system. This question should be a duplicate of this one because I provide more information not provided by that poster. This forum thread has broken links and does not have a solution to my problem. Nobody knows what's going on in this forum thread.

• Windows Server 2008 R2 install reboots unexpectedly during "Completing installation" phase

  I am attempting to install Windows Server 2008 R2 onto a Cisco UCS C201 M2 rack mounted server but am having major difficulties and wondering if anyone has some insight or items they could recommend for me to look at to get this one resolved. Installation is being attempted via the Cisco remote console (using CIMC's Virtual dvd-rom).. following the first phase of Setup where the installation files are copied to the target hard drive, then a reboot occurs to load Setup from the HDD, mid-way in the "Completing Installation" phase the system then reboots unexpectedly. System configuration Cisco UCS C201 M2 (2RU rack mounted server) 16GB RAM, 2x 73GB 15K SAS, 4x 300GB 10k SAS Add-on cards - Intel quad-port GigE card (no fibre channel cards) Storage - LSI MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i. onboard SATA is disabled (no SATA drives connected) KVM - Belkin No physical DVD-ROM.. :( I have... Run memtest86+, no RAM faults Disabled/enabled SATA support (BIOS) Attempted install from USB DVD-ROM, no effect Attempted unattended install scripted via Cisco Configuration Manager DVD provided Removed Belkin KVM in case that was causing drama Discovered that the Cisco website is "awesome" for searching for PDFs/Drivers cough, reverted back to Google Downloaded latest LSI drivers from LSI's site and used during Server 2008 install checked Windows ISO against checksum's from MS site checked Windows ISO by using it for an install in a VM Running out of ways to troubleshoot this as I am not sure how to enable any sort of 'verbose' mode during the setup process. Next step I have planned is to remove the Intel NIC and try the installation again.. Edit: Problem was the "Cisco INTEL QUAD PT GBE" (1000/PT) .. will have to see if this card is faulty or if it's just drivers.. thanks for the help.

• Apache (Solaris 10): 2 symlinks to the same file, one works the other doesn't

  I'm seeing a strange issue with Apache I have a system that pulls a configuration file from a web server. I want to use a symlink with the name 'ocds-dpsarch01a.rules'. This doesn't work. However, if I change one character in that name and link it to the same file, it works - See below I can't think of any reason why one symlink would work when another doesn't? I would have thought either the Apache configuration is right and all symlinks work, or it isn't and no syslinks work(?) • Setting up Windows SBS 2008 network on Xen

  I'm trying to install a Windows SBS 2008 server in a Xen environment. The OS is booting fine. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to set up the network settings. Dom0 is a Debian Lenny hosting around 10 virtual servers. Here are the settings I'm using in the hosted Windows SBS: IP address: 10.20.0.8 Network mask: 255.255.0.0 Gateway: 10.20.0.1 Note that during the installation stage, Windows set the net mask at 255.255.255.0 without letting me choose. Gross. Windows SBS tells me I have a "limited connection". I can't ping the gateway nor any other IP except localhost and it's own IP (10.20.0.8). • RHEL 5.3 Kickstart - How specify location of individual package in Workstation folder?

  I keep getting "package does not exist" errors during the install. I made a kickstart ISO to create an unattended install of a RHEL 5.3 build machine for C++ software releases. It pulls the kickstart config file from our internal web server. This is handy; it makes it easy to test and modify without having to make a new ISO. And I plan to check it in to version control if I can get it working. Anyway, the rpm packages are located in two folders on the disk; Client and Workstation. The packages install fine for the ones that are physically located under the Client folder. It cannot find those under the Workstation folder such as as doxygen and subversion complaining that packages do not exist. • Since upgrading to Windows 8.1, I can't open any files on a SMB share shared by my OS X Mavericks Mac

  I have a PC with Windows 8.1 and a Mac with Mavericks. I have a folder on the Mac that is shared with the PC. When I'm on the PC and I try to open a file that is shared by the Mac, such as an ISO file (a disk image), then I get a message saying that I cannot open the file, or the file is in use (it depends on the app/filetype). I have the same problem when I open a video file. Strangely, text files and PDF files are just fine. And if I copy any of the problematic files to the local Windows disk, then I can open them just fine. The specific error messages are: AVI files opened in VLC: "Your input can't be opened. VLC is unable to open the MRL." ISO files opened by Windows Explorer: "Sorry, there was a problem mounting the file." This only started happening after I upgraded to Windows 8.1 on the PC and Mavericks on the Mac. Mavericks upgraded its SMB version from SMB1 to SMB2, so perhaps that is related? Does anyone know what the problem might be, and how I could fix it? Thanks in advance!
