  • krenew command not working : Permission Denied

    - by prathmesh.kallurkar
I am using a Linux server to perform my simulations. The login and the file-system of the server are protected using kerberos. The file-system is supported using NFS. Since my simulations take a lot of time to run, my ssh sessions used to hang regularly. So, I have started running my simulations in byobu (similar to screen). In order to make sure that my kerberos session remains active, I am using the krenew command. I have entered the following command in my .bash_profile file. (I am sure that it is called for every login) killall -9 krenew 2> /dev/null krenew -b -t -K 10 So everytime I ssh to the server, I kill the existing krenew command. Then, I spawn a new krenew command -b (which runs in background), -t (I forgot why I was using this option !), and -K 10 (It must run after every 10 minutes and refresh the kerberos cache). When I run the simulations, It runs for 14 hours and then suddenly, I am getting error for reading file Permission Denied Is the command that I am running incorrect ??

  • PHP Page Stopped outputting content After Running "yum install php-devel" Command

    - by stwhite
This error is bizarre but after running the "yum install php-devel" command (after a long day of trying to install Facedetect and OpenCV for face detection) my site stopped functioning. The site uses mysql and php. When you hit the url, the page executes the mysql and the php, but it appears to randomly stop outputting the content of the page. None of the code was changed and the site was working flawlessly prior to running the mentioned ssh command. I do use output buffering in the site, but after removing the calls "ob_flush", "ob_end_flush" and "ob_start" it didn't appear to help—still having issues with the site. Any ideas what this could be? Here is output from terminal: [myserver ~]# cd Facedetect-4b1dfe1 [myserver Facedetect-4b1dfe1]# phpize Configuring for: PHP Api Version: 20090626 Zend Module Api No: 20090626 Zend Extension Api No: 220090626 [myserver Facedetect-4b1dfe1]# configure bash: configure: command not found [myserver Facedetect-4b1dfe1]# phpize && configure && make && make install Configuring for: PHP Api Version: 20090626 Zend Module Api No: 20090626 Zend Extension Api No: 220090626 bash: configure: command not found bash: Read: command not found [myserver Facedetect-4b1dfe1]# make make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. • Call 'script' command and exit it from within a bash script

    - by William Jamieson
I'm using the linux 'script' command http://www.linuxcommand.org/man_pages/script1.html to log all input and output in an interactive bash script. At the moment I have to call the script command, then run my bash script, then exit. I want to run the script and exit commands from within the actual bash script itself. How can I do this? I've tried script -a but that doesn't work for interactive scripts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Windows command line "suspend"

    - by bobobobo
On Windows, there's the shutdown cmd line, but is there a windows command line command to call a "standby"? What I'd really like is to call something like standby -force to force a system to enter standby even when a pesky app is trying to prevent it.

  • Bash command to focus a specific window.

    - by D Connors
Is there a way, in bash command line, to give focus to a specific window of a running process. Assume I know the process' name, number, and anything else I need. For instance, if I have a single instance of Firefox running, but it's minimized (or there's some other window on top of it). I need a bash command that brings up and gives focus to the Firefox window, by making it the active window. Thanks

  • Creating new bash command for Sublime Text 2

    - by Gavin
I'm trying to get Sublime Text 2's command line alias working. The instructions make perfect sense: Run ln -s "/Applications/Sublime Text 2.app/Contents/SharedSupport/bin/subl" ~/bin/subl So, in ~/bin, subl exists. However, even when I restart terminal, the command 'subl' is not found. The path specified to the application's subl file is correct, I've verified that. Logging out does not fix it. Any help would be awesome!

  • Easiest way to get right-click "Open command window here" with admin priveleges in Windows 7

    - by joshcomley
I don't want to install PowerToys, I'd rather a simpler solution for this specific problem. I've tried Ctrl+Shift+Right-Click. I've tried adding a registry script, but I get the following error: Cannot import D:\Admin\Reg\Open command window here (Administrator)\Open command window here (Administrator).reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor. Any suggestions?

  • How do I teach my command line manners?

    - by Sam152
Whenever I complete something in the command line while using Ubuntu and my computer does something of value to me, I enjoy saying thank you, just because it's the polite thing to do. A typical conversation might look something like this: mtp-sendfile HamishAndyPodcast.mp3 /Music/podcasts Sending file... Progress: 17769768 of 17769768 (100%) New file ID: 76098 sam@sams-laptop:~$ thanks thanks: command not found What's the best way to teach my PC a few manners and respond with something like "No problemo".

  • windows xp command prompt remote

    - by user19810
I was wondering if it was possible to have remote access to a command prompt on a windows xp machine, like using remote desktop services, only with the command prompt. I'm programming a java application, and having a full remote desktop service is a kind of a system hog. Also, the system I am using to access windows remotely is ubuntu. Thanks.

  • Reset network (airport) connections from the command line

    - by Klaus Byskov Hoffmann
I have this MacBook Pro that has intermittent problems connecting to my Wifi network. Sometimes it helps to disable/re-enable airport and sometimes I have to restart the computer to get my network running again. Has anyone experienced this? And is there a command I can run that would do the same as I do when I restart the computer (short of actually restarting it, obviously) or at least a command that restarts the airport service? Thanks in advance.

  • Use of hyphen in shell command

    - by deanloh
I feel shy to ask this question, but if I don't I will never know, so here I am giving it a shot: I notice most shell commands use "-" for options, but I also noticed some commands do not have it. For example, to archive files in a given direct, the command is: tar czvf allmyfiles.tar.gz * However, to extract an archive, the command I learned, is: tar -zxvf allmyfiles.tar.gz Looking at both examples above, is there any significance whether to include the hyphen or not?
