  • Cheap cloning/local branching in Mercurial

    Hi, Just started working with Mercurial a few days ago and there's something I don't understand. I have an experimental thing I want to do, so the normal thing to do would be to clone my repository, work on the clone and if eventually I want to keep those changes, I'll push them to my main repository. Problem is cloning my repository takes alot of time (we have alot of code) and just compiling the cloned copy would take up to an hour. So I need to somehow work on a different repository but still in my original working copy. Enter local branches. Problem is just creating a local branch takes forever, and working with them isn't all that fun either. Because when moving between local branches doesn't "revert" to the target branch state, I have to issue a hg purge (to remove files that were added in the moved from branch) and then hg update -c (to revert modified files in the moved from branch). (note: I did try PK11 fork of local branch extension, it a simple local branch creation crashes with an exception) At the end of the day, this is just too complex. What are my options?

    Here is my rc.local for an autoscaling amazon ec2 instance based on ubuntu: (Note that user names, domains, and paths have been changed for security purposes) logger "Begin rc.local startup script:" logger "svn checkout" sudo -u nonRootUser /usr/bin/svn co svn+ssh://[email protected]/path/to/repo /var/www/html | logger logger "chown writeable folder" chown www-data /var/www/html/writeableFolder logger "restart apache" /etc/init.d/apache2 restart | logger exit 0 And here is the output of sudo tail -n 40 /var/log/syslog Mar 10 22:05:20 ubuntu logger: Begin rc.local startup script: Mar 10 22:05:20 ubuntu logger: svn checkout Mar 10 22:05:20 ubuntu logger: chown writeable folder Of course its not getting to apache2 restart because it error'd on the chown. I did find however that if I do a checkout beforehand, and set the rc.local svn command to an svn update, that it still does not run the svn command but does output apache2 restart successfully. These same svn commands work perfectly when I run them manually, tho it's strange that within rc.local they do not produce any output whatsoever to logger yet apache2 restart does. I've also tried running the svn co and svn update both with sudo -u and without. How do I get the svn command to run? Either a full checkout or an update. At this point either would be better than nothing!

  • Sync between local service with a thread and an activity

    Hello all, I'm trying to think of a way on how to sync in between a local service and the main activity. The local service has, A thread with a socket connection that could receive data at any time. A list/array with data. At any time the socket could receive data and add it to the list. The activity needs to display this data. So when the activity starts up it needs to attach or start the local service and fetch the list. It also needs to be notified if the list is updated. I think I would need to sync my list somehow so the local service does not add a new entry to it while the activity fetches the list when connecting to the service. Any ideas? Thanks.

    I have created a windows service. When I install msi, this service goes to local services, but doesn't start. When i try to start it, it gives this error: Windows could not start this service on Local computer. Error 1053: The service didnot respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. One more thing is, that when I install msi as a service, it goes to local services, but doesn't start and gives warning that you don't have privileges to start this service.

    The command hg outgoing compares the local repo to the default push location; it accesses the push location to do it. I'd like to ask the question "have I checked in changes in my local repo since my last hg push?" without having to access the remote repo. It seems like there might be enough info in the local repo to figure that out; if so, is there a command to determine that?

  • Postfix not receiving non-local mail

    I set up a server with Postfix/Dovecot on Linode/Ubuntu 10.04 according to this guide, admittedly I've never done this before. Local mail works just fine, but trying to send email to it from external addresses results in errors like this: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: <address>@ni-mate.com Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 553 553 Unknown recipient. (state 13). I honestly have no idea what to do or which configuration files/logs anyone needs to see.

  • rspec & rails 3 cannot find model object

    I'm trying to put some specs around a new rails 3 project I am working on, and my first test doesn't seem to be able to find a model.     I've installed Windows 2012 R2 and enabled the ADFS (3.0?) feature. After installation, it asks to configure ADFS, but this step requires a user account that is a domain administrator, as it wants to create certificate containers and SPN records. In ADFS 2.0, you could install in standalone mode which required only local admin rights, storing everything in the Windows Internal Database. If this still possible with the latest version? If so, how do I configure ADFS in standalone mode?

I need to do this on my iphone as I can no longer access via ssh or with the iphone cable. One of the files to edit is a ssh config file which is what is not allowing ssh connections. Any ideas on apps or other methods that I could use.

  • i cant ping to my DMZ zone from the local inside PC

    HI everybody. Can anyone please help me on the following issue. I got a Cisco Asa 5520 configured at my network. I cant ping to my DMZ interface from a local inside network PC. so the only way a ping the DMZ is right from the Cisco ASA firewall, there i can pint to all 3 interfaces, Inside, Outside and DMZ,,,, But no PC from the Inside Network can access the DMZ. Can please any one help?   • Unable to ping local machines by name in Windows 7

    I'm having a strange (and persistent!) problem with pinging local machines on my network by name. I believe my machine (Windows 7 64-bit) is the only one having this issue. This is over a wireless connection. As an example, consider a device on my network by the name of WDTVLiveHub. It's a Western Digital Live Hub (surprise!). If I go to my router's DHCP Client Table in the browser (my router is a WRT400N), I see this entry: WDTVLiveHub 192.168.1.101 Great. So I try to ping that IP address: ping 192.168.1.101 Pinging 192.168.1.101 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=64 Ping statistics for 192.168.1.101: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 9ms, Maximum = 16ms, Average = 14ms OK, still looking good. Now I try to ping it by name: ping WDTVLiveHub Ping request could not find host WDTVLiveHub. Please check the name and try again. From what I've read, this implies a problem with DNS servers and host name lookups. The biggest problem is that my mapped network drives have to be done by IP, and then any time the router assigns new IP addresses to those devices, all of my network shares break again. Stinks! Would love some assistance on possible solutions. I've tried all of this netsh catalog resetting and that didn't seem to fix anything at all. Would love an explanation of what's going wrong, too, rather than blindly resetting things! Thanks!

  • wget not working with domain on local machine

    Basically - I have some PHP scripts that need to be run as cron jobs. Lets say the script needing to be run is: http://admin.somedomain.com/cron_jobs/get_stats If I run the script from the local machine it gives me a 404 Not Found error. So I entered the following into /etc/hosts XX.XX.XX.45 admin.somedomain.com Now wget works fine from the local machine to that domain. However when I restart Apache that domain no longer works. Here is the config for that site in /etc/apache2/sites-available NameVirtualHost XX.XX.XX.45:80 <VirtualHost XX.XX.XX.45:80> ServerName admin.somedomain.com DocumentRoot /var/www/admin.somedomain.com/ <Directory "/var/www/admin.somedomain.com"> allowoverride all Options Indexes order deny,allow allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/admin.somedomain.com-error_log CustomLog /var/log/apache2/admin.somedomain.com-access_log combined </VirtualHost> It just goes to the default site config showing "It Works".     I have a domain that i bought from DynDNS. I pointed the domain at my ip adress so i can run servers. The problem I have is that I don't live near the server computer... Can I use an ssh tunnel? As I understand it, this will let me access to my servers. I want the remote computer to direct traffic from port 8080 over the ssh tunnel to the ssh client, being my laptop's port 80.     Recently we renamed our domain from single domain name COMPANY to COMPANY.LOCAL due to multiple problems. However now I get this information from BPA. Issue: The Active Directory integrated DNS zone _msdcs.COMPANY.LOCAL was not found. Impact: DNS queries for the Active Directory integrated zone _msdcs.COMPANY.LOCAL might fail. Resolution: Restore the Active Directory integrated DNS zone _msdcs.COMPANY.LOCAL. Clearly there is no _msdcs.COMPANY.LOCAL as there is only old one _msdcs.COMPANY however when i check under COMPANY there is no _msdsc, but there is one when i check inside COMPANY.LOCAL. So it seems to me that _msdcs.COMPANY.LOCAL should use the one that is inside COMPANY.LOCAL? Should it not? Should I try to recreate it by hand (since it wasn't created on domain rename).

  • Difference between accessing a website using Local host and IP address

    I have developed an ASP.NET website and deployed into my IIS server. Now to see that my IIS is installed fine, I type local host in my address bar, and I get the welcome screen of IIS and its documentation in a separate window. Now I gave the url of my website http://localhost/mysites/site2/Default.aspx I access my site. Also giving my IP address instead of local host like: http://192.168.1.46/mysites/site2/Default.aspx also works. Just out of curiosity I wanted to see what happens when I give my IP address in addressbar. It asks me a user name and password saying:The server 192.168.1.46:80 requires a user name and password. I donot know what user name and password it is asking, and as of my knowledge I thought localhost points to my own IP address internally. But what is the difference and also what username and password do I need for it? Update: On chrome and IE just giving localhost displays the welcome screen, but on mozilla, localhost is also asking for a username and password.
