• Populate InfoPath Combo Box

  I am trying to populate a drop down and found this page, which provides part of the solution: http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/programmatically-fill-populate-drop-down-list-box-infopath-2007.htm I got this to work, but if players.xml was changed, the drop down list didn't reflect it. I had to rename the file and add the new file as my secondary data source to see the change. For my purposes, the xml file that is used to populate the drop down box would need to be created anew. Each time the form is loaded, I programatically create a new xml file, but the drop down doesn't pick up the new file, even though I have named it as the secondary data source. It seems that once you set a file to be your secondary data source, it takes a snapshot of that file at the time the source was added as a secondary data source and if you change the file, you must rename and add it as your secondary source. How do I populate a drop down box from an XML file such that if the XML file changes, the contents of the drop down change accordingly?

• Container Options in AWS Elastic Beanstalk

  We have deployed a java webapplication in Elastic Beanstalk with the minimum instance count 1 and max instance count 2 for Autoscaling. The custom AMI we are using is c1.medium with Sun JDK 6. The environment status changed to yellow and then red. After checking into the log file from the snapshot logs we found a exception - Caused by: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. Assuming this could be one of the possible reason for the Environment failure. The settings that we have configured in the Environment Container option are Initial JVM Heap Size (MB) - 256M Maximum JVM Heap Size (MB) - 512m The maximum heap size the java virtual machine will ever consume, specified on the JVM launch command line using -Xmx. Maximum JVM Permanent Generation Size (MB) - 512m Should i increase the Heap size from 512m to more or is it fine.

  I have two maven projects Project AAA * AAA-Core * AAA-Other Project BBB * BBB-Core * BBB-AAA-specific I want to create a build plan in Bamboo to build the BBB-AAA-specific project. The plan configuration is such that this project depends on the AAA-Other projec build. Thus everything should work ok. But when I try to run the BBB-AAA-specific Bamboo plan I get an error that states: "Unable to find resource 'foo.bar.AAA:AAA:pom:0.0.1-SNAPSHOT' in repository snapshots (http://foo.bar.com)" What is going on? The bamboo builds for "AAA-Core" and "AAA-Other" work as expected.

It's because I have like 100 files already in this format and I need to upload to a website, I have the mp4 file embeded in the site already and the file played changes according to php. but what I really need is a way to dynamically create a thumbnail or take a snapshot of the video file to display on the page.   I've been digging around the NHibernate sources a little, trying to understand how NHibernate implements removing child elements from a collection. I think I've already found the answer, but I'd ideally like this to be confirmed by someone familiar with the matter. So far I've found AbstractPersistentCollection (base class for all collection proxies) has a static helper method called GetOrphans to find orphans by comparing the current collection with a snapshot. The existence of this method suggests NHibernate tries to find all oprhaned elements and then deletes them by key. Is this correct, in terms of the generated SQL?

I made a maven multi module project with the following modules: /api /domain /repositories /webapp I like to share the domain and the repositories between the api and the webapp (both web projects). • Disabling a link tag using JavaScript on my printable page

  I have a script that creates a printable page by copying the HTML across and then doing some manipulation, such as disabling the buttons on the page, on page load. I also want to disable the links on the page. I don't really mind if they look like links still as long as they don't do anything, and don't give any JavaScript errors! The anchor tag doesn't seem to have a disabled attribute... Unfortunately, I can't use jQuery, so JavaScript only please! Edit: I want to disable the links, buttons etc on the page so that when the 'printable page' opens in another window, the user cannot mess with it by clicking buttons or links. I want it to essentially be a 'frozen snapshot' of the page that they want to print.

• How do I get Eclipse CDT to ignore files

  I have a C++ project in Eclipse. The project uses Perforce and Eclipse has the Perforce plugin installed. Everything was fine, until I decided to create a git repo in my project. I created the git repo to snapshot some changes which I wasn't ready to commit. Everything was fine until I refreshed my files in Eclipse. Two problems have occurred: Eclipse found my .git folder, and indexed all of the files inside of it. Eclipse also decided to add all the git file to my pending change list. If I create a new file within Eclipse, I'd like it to add it to Perforce, but if it happens to find a file, I don't want it to do anything with it. I'd also like to give Eclipse a list of file types to always ignore, just like I do with my .hgignore file.

  Hi, just a quick query about safe/unsafe states in Dijkstra's Banker's algorithm... If one of the processes in the snapshot of the system (for example the one below) already has all of its needs fulfilled and there are not sufficient resources available to fulfil the needs of any of the other processes, is the system in a safe state? I know normally we assume that once a process receives its required resources it will terminate soon after and return all resources, but is this assumption factored in when we calculate the state of the system? • Does Team Foundation Server supports Checkpoints?

  My dev team used in the past MKS Source Integrity source control and we are not evaluating to migrate to TFS 2010. Some concepts and meaning are a bit different and we need sometime to learn how to do the same things we do before in TFS or how to change our approach. First of all, we used to do Checkpoints for each software release. MKS in this case does a snapshot of all source code files. You can later compare different checkpoints to see the code differences, or extract a whole checkpoint as a build. Does TFS have a similar feature? Do you know where can I read something about it? • Are there any free .NET OCR libraries that will perform OCR on an application window directly?

  I am looking for a free .NET OCR library that will be able to do OCR on a given application window or even a image in memory (I can take a snapshot of the application window myself). I have looked at tessnet2 and MODI but both require an image located on disk. I need to use OCR because the application I am trying to write a script for does some wacky stuff that cannot be read using windows API and I need to scrape data from the screen. I have tested both of tessnet2 and MODI and they both can read the text mostly but because this has to run in an enviroment that will not be able to write to disk, I need it to be able to read directly from the applciation window or some type of memory stream. I am thinking OCR is my only soution but there could be other methods that I am not thinking of. Suggestions?

Once all approvals are completed the data shall be permanantly persisted into the actual table. Example: 1) Consider an entity called "User". One way to create the user is through the "Create Account Process". 2) The "Create Account Process" shall capture all the information of the User and store it in a temporary table in the database. 3) The data shall be used by the "Account Approval Process" to run its verification process. 4. After all the verification is completed successfully, the User data shall be persisted to the actual table. Question: Where to store the user data entered during "Create Account Process". Additionally, User data should be editable till the verification process is complete.

  I am evaluating cloud e-mail solutions based upon: Google Apps for Education Microsoft Live@edu I work for a University and we currently have an institutional portal (based on uPortal). We currently have our local IMAP server and webmail client fully integrated with the portal. We would like to replicate the current portal e-mail experience with the new e-mail services. At present users can see a snapshot of their inbox in the portal and click through into the appropriate place in the webmail client. We expect that we need to solve similar problems when integrating with the cloud based e-mail solutions. We need to solve the single sign-on (SSO) problem. We need to be able to access the inbox messages on the users behalf. (e.g. proxy authentication) Does anybody have an experience or advice on this? Many thanks, Mark

• Is it possible to scan Entities in jar files using JPA and hibernate

  I have the following situation : Project A - Contains a few entities and is independent Project B - Contains a few entities and is independent Project C - Contains few entities and is dependent on Project A & Project B. I am using Maven to manage dependencies and builds. When I try to test Project A and project B it goes through fine. Each of them has a persistence.xml and a separate persistent context. When I run Project C , It does map any of the entities. I have tried to use the auto-detect, specified the jar file attribute ... but nothing seems to work. It gives me a Mapping Exception saying unknown entity and wont persist or read the Entities from Projects A or B. I have posted the 3 persistence.xml files here. Also, I tried using the class attribute and using the same persistent context but it just wont find the files. Any help is really appreciated. • Help with game development. Render loop?

  Hello, I'm working on a simple game, this is my first game project. Most of the samples I find have a Render Loop where all the game logic is made too and I just don't like this. Let's say I have a ball with X=0, and a wall in X=10 and in a slow machine, the first loop places the ball in X=7 and in a second loop, it places the ball in X=14. It would just crash the game! Is this "render loop" the right way to make games? Should I write code to check for things like this in every frame? Example, new frame X=14, last frame have X=7, so I should check if there's anything from X=7 to X=14?? I was thinking that I should have a separated thread for the game logic and in the render loop, I should just "take a snapshot" of the current game logic and display that, no? How do you guys, experienced game developers work around this? thanks!

So what is the best way to assign value of ivar in init()??

  Hi there I can take snapshot of a component. But the problem is the component is lil bigger with scroll bars. The saved image has scrollbars (only the visible area is getting saved). What i need is I want the entire component to be saved as an image. This exact functionality is available while we print the component using FlexPrintJob, where by setting the FlexPrintJobScaleType.NONE. But here in my case i want it to be saved using ImageSnapShot ( not thru FlexPrintJob ). Thanks Advance, Sriss

• In MS SQL Server, is there a way to "atomically" increment a column being used as a counter?

  Assuming a Read Committed Snapshot transaction isolation setting, is the following statement "atomic" in the sense that you won't ever "lose" a concurrent increment? update mytable set counter = counter + 1 I would assume that in the general case, where this update statement is part of a larger transaction, that it wouldn't be. For example, I think this scenario is possible: update the counter within transaction #1 do some other stuff in transaction #1 update the counter with transaction #2 commit transaction #2 commit transaction #1 In this situation, wouldn't the counter end up only being incremented by 1? Does it make a difference if that is the only statement in a transaction? How does a site like stackoverflow handle this for its question view counter? Or is the possibility of "losing" some increments just considered acceptable?

• how random is Math.random() in java across different jvms or different machines

  I have a large distributed program across many different physical servers, each program spawns many threads, each thread use Math.random() in its operations to draw a piece from many common resource pools. The goal is to utilize the pools evenly across all operations. Sometimes, it doesn't appear so random by looking at a snapshot on a resource pool to see which pieces it's getting at that instant (it might actually be, but it's hard to measure and find out for sure). Is there something that's better than Math.random() and performs just as good (not much worse at least)?

  How can I query the read/write ratio in Sql Server 2005? Are there any caveats I should be aware of? Perhaps it can be found in a DMV query, a standard report, a custom report (i.e the Performance Dashboard), or examining a Sql Profiler trace. I'm not sure exactly. Why do I care? I'm taking time to improve the performance of my web app's data layer. It deals with millions of records and thousands of users. One of the points I'm examining is database concurrency. Sql Server uses pessimistic concurrency by default--good for a write-heavy app. If my app is read-heavy, I might switch it to optimistic concurrency (isolation level: read uncommitted snapshot) like Jeff Atwood did with StackOverflow.

• Unit of measurement API in Java?

  JSR-275 has been rejected, the Units of Measurement API for Java project is a set of interfaces, but haven't found an open source implementation. On this post: Which jsr-275 units implementation should be used? the project owner mentions the implementation was going to be ready by the end of last year on JScience, but didn't find anything there to convert between weight or length units and when I looked for JScience on https://maven.java.net/, I found it, but the JAR wasn't even in the directory https://maven.java.net/content/repositories/snapshots/org/jscience/jscience/5.0-SNAPSHOT/, so I had to get it from somewhere else. Has this project been left behind? And is there currently an implementation for conversion of Units of measurement in Java and even perhaps a Maven repo?
