    Hi - I'm playing around with the new yahoo API. I'd like to scrap some dummy data using the following address http://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql?q=desc%20social.updates.search&format=json&diagnostics=true&env=store%3A%2F%2Fdatatables.org%2Falltableswithkeys&callback=cbfunc When I run this I get an authenticaion error (Need to be logged into Yahoo) This is fine obviously for me messing around on the internet. However I'd like to call this from a ruby script. Any ideas how I go about authenticating? I can only seem to find some web enabled version.

  • Adding sections to a plist for Xcode for use in Cocoa touch Table View

    I am a beginning iPhone SDK programmer. I built a simple practice application I am trying to use to learn more about table views. It's an app that loads football teams from a plist and displays them in a table view with their stadium name and logo. Tapping the team goes to a detail view for that team. I am trying to understand how to add sections to this, so that I might have a couple of teams in one section and others in another section, etc. I would assume I need to both re-structure my plist and change the code to read arrays from the different levels of the plist? To begin, I had a plist with the root array consisting of 3 dictionaries, one for each team. Each dictionary had 3 keys, "name" "stadium" and "logo". This works fine. I am loading it via: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"teams" ofType:@"plist"]; teams = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:path]; and then // Configure the cell. NSDictionary *team = [teams objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [team objectForKey:@"name"]; NSString *imgPath = [team valueForKey:@"logo"]; cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:imgPath]; cell.detailTextLabel.text =[team objectForKey:@"stadium"]; return cell; No problem. But now I wanted the sections, so I changed my plist to: <array> <dict> <key>teams 1</key> <array> <dict> <key>name</key> <string>Packers</string> <key>stadium</key> <string>Lambeau Field</string> <key>logo</key> <string>packers.jpg</string> </dict> <dict> <key>name</key> <string>Jets</string> <key>stadium</key> <string>Giants Stadium</string> <key>logo</key> <string>jets_logo.jpg</string> </dict> </array> </dict> <dict> <key>teams 2</key> <array> <dict> <key>name</key> <string>Cincinnati Bengals</string> <key>stadium</key> <string>Paul Brown Stadium</string> <key>logo</key> <string>bengals.jpg</string> </dict> </array> </dict> And I am unsure how to modify the viewDidLoad to assign the sections to one NSArray and the teams "level" to another array.

  • Problems with Continuous Integration (CI) in TFS during Build Automation?

    Hi all, I am using TFS 2008 and Visual Studio and my boss has instructed me to implement Build Automation for Development and Release builds for a web Project. I am a total newbie in Build Automation. There are multiple developers working on the project on different machines using Visual Studio 2008 team System. Source is already being maintained on TFS 2008. SQL Server in Use is SQL Server 2000 and hosted IIS is IIS 7.5 on Windows Server 2008 x64. I have searched over the net and found Continuous Integration and Nightly Builds as two important Build Automation techniques. I was just wondering of any disadvantages associated with both the methodologies (CI and Nightly Builds). If someone could guide me to a working tutorial that explains both techniques the it would be quite helpful. Please also tell the requirements of IIS, SQL Server and any other that might be pre-requisite to implement build automation. Also i would like to know whether there are other techniques that are better then CI? Replies and discussion much appreciated. Thanks

  • jQTouch with PhoneGap on webOS

    I'm writing an application in PhoneGap that I want to run on iOS, Android, and webOS. jQTouch plays nice with everything on iOS and Android, but not webOS. Since the webOS Mojo framework is based on Prototype (which uses the $ variable), it's necessary to use jQuery in noConflict mode. I can handle that much. However, the problem is that I also want to use the jQTouch plugin. The jqtouch.js file uses $ throughout, causing JavaScript errors when that file is loaded. Is there a way to run the jQTouch plugin (or any plugin for that matter) in my PhoneGap application without interfering with Prototype?

    I already have Visual Studio 2008 installed. When installing developer Sql Server 2008, do I need to check the Business Intelligence Development Studio option? I'm guessing not. I assume if I already have VS 2008, the install will just add the relevant Sql Server related project types into VS 2008. EDIT: I marked the question answered before I did the install - I've installed Sql Server before and I thought this was what happened, but on doing this install, leaving the BI studio option unchecked does NOT install the SQL Server projects in Visual Studio. I had to go back and install it, so the answer is... Check it! I was overthinking the install - it's smart enough not to install VS twice.

There are few promising frameworks in python but I was not able to find a top 100 site using python except for google, which uses python extensively. Python has great frameworks but I am not able to find a really popular sites using python. Definitely most of the site would use python for background processing and stuff. On the other hand, ruby on rails has a few sites like twitter,hulu,yellowpages,scribd are present in top 100 sites. Can you mention some really popular sites using either of these languages.

  • ListView: convertView / holder getting confused

    I'm working with a ListView, trying to get the convertView / referenceHolder optimisation to work properly but it's giving me trouble. (This is the system where you store the R.id.xxx pointers in as a tag for each View to avoid having to call findViewById). I have a ListView populated with simple rows of an ImageView and some text, but the ImageView can be formatted either for portrait-sized images (tall and narrow) or landscape-sized images (short and wide). It's adjusting this formatting for each row which isn't working as I had hoped. The basic system is that to begin with, it inflates the layout for each row and sets the ImageView's settings based on the data, and includes an int denoting the orientation in the tag containing the R.id.xxx values. Then when it starts reusing convertViews, it checks this saved orientation against the orientation of the new row. The theory then is that if the orientation is the same, then the ImageView should already be set up correctly. If it isn't, then it sets the parameters for the ImageView as appropriate and updates the tag. However, I found that it was somehow getting confused; sometimes the tag would get out of sync with the orientation of the ImageView. For example, the tag would still say portrait, but the actual ImageView would still be in landscape layout. I couldn't find a pattern to how or when this happened; it wasn't consistent by orientation, position in the list or speed of scrolling. I can solve the problem by simply removing the check about convertView's orientation and simply always set the ImageView's parameters, but that seems to defeat the purpose of this optimisation. I am trying to calculate bandwidth consumption, (bytes transferred in and out) using C#, described Here using the MS Log Parser. In the above case, if the log files are deleted by the user or any administrator even, the bandwidth calculation will not be possible. Q1: *What is the standard way to measure the Bandwidth for various Hosting accounts (of websites) on a single server?* Q2: *If Log parser mechanism (as described above) is used, then how to take care of the security issue? Is there some system directory or event viewer logs or something which cannot be deleted except by the System account and contains bandwidth data?* Please point me in the right direction. Thanks

  • Horizontal "tab"ish scroll between views

    I'm interested in creating a horizontal scroll view that "snaps" to the viewed item, so only one item is ever shown at a time. The user can touch-drag left/right and will see previous/next views, switching to it if there's enough velocity. This interaction is exactly like what the new weather/news widget that comes with the Nexus One does for navigating between its "tabs". Are there any existing view widgets that do this? Update: found a copy of the news/weather widget (GenieWidget) and they seem to have implemented their own widget to accomplish this which they call com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.ui.FlingableLinearLayout which is part of their own custom com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.ui.TabView. As that source isn't available, that's not looking too hopeful a direction.

  • vb.net pdf reader load problem

    From the tools menu I have done right clickchoose itemCOM (tab) and ticked adobe pdf reader. From here I simply dragged the pdf tool onto my form. That's all I've done. Now on form load it throws a bug. "InvalidOperationException was unhandled" hovering over the message it says the following, An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) Any ideas anyone? Gonna take a mastermind to work this one out seriously

  • Java exception: "Can't get a Writer while an OutputStream is already in use" when running xAgent

    I am trying to implement Paul Calhoun's Apache FOP solution for creating PDF's from Xpages (from Notes In 9 #102). I am getting the following java exception when trying to run the xAgent that does the processing -- Can't get a Writer while an OutputStream is already in use The only changes that I have done from Paul's code was to change the package name. I have isolated when the exception happens to the SSJS line: var jce: DominoXMLFO2PDF = new DominoXMLFO2PDF(); All that line does is instantiate the class, there is no custom constructor. I don't believe it is the code itself, but some configuration issue. The SSJS code is in the beforeRenderResponse event where it should be, I haven't changed anything on the xAgent. I have copied the jar files from Paul's sample database to mine, I have verified that the build paths are the same between the two databases. Everything compiles fine (after I did all this.) This exception appears to be an xpages only exception.

  • Team build of Web Projects generates App_web_xxxx.dll files and TFSBuild.Proj Script

    Hi all, I have a web application that has some non-web projects as well. When using Web Deployment, a single assembly is generated for all the aspx.vb files. When using Team Build (TS 2008), a lot number App_Web_xxx.dll file(s) are generated instead of a single assembly. How can i solve this problem and change the TFSBuild.proj file so that it can generate a single Web Assembly instead of a lot number of assemblies. Please help. Thanks Edit: I guess thats because the MERGE operation is not occurring like it used to happen for Web Deployment Project in my solution. How can i enable MERGE of App_web_*.dll files into a single Web.dll assembly file and delete the satellite assemblies?   • jquery mouse wheel scroll horizontal

    I currently have a site that is a sidescroller (http://www.studioimbrue.com) and I'm trying to bind a mousewheel to scroll sideways. Currently I'm using the one found at thehorizontalway.com but it doesn't seem to work in all browsers (Chrome). I'm trying to get this one to work: http://brandonaaron.net/code/mousewheel/docs , to simply scroll the whole window, nothing else. There is very limited documentation so I can't figure it out.   • H.264 / FLV best practices for HTML

    I run a website with about 700 videos (And no, it's not porn -- get your mind out of the gutter :-) ). The videos are currently in FLV format. We use the JWPlayer to render those videos. IIS6 hosted. Everything works just fine. As I understand it, H.264 (not FLV and likely not OGG) is the emerging preferred HTML5 video standard. Today, the iPad really only respects H.264 or YouTube. Presumably, soon many more important browsers will follow Apple's lead and respect only the HTML5 tag. OK, so I think I can figure out how to convert my existing videos into the proper H.264 format. There are various tools available, including ffmpeg.exe. I haven't tried it yet, but I don't think that's going to be a problem after fiddling with the codec settings. My question is more about the container itself -- that is, planning graceful transition for all users. What's the best-practice recommendation for rendering these videos? If I just use the HTML5 tag, then presumably any browser that doesn't yet support HTML5 won't see the videos. And if I render them in Flash format via the JWPlayer or some other player, then they won't be playable on the iPad. Do I have to do ugly UserAgent detection here to figure out what to render? I know the JWPlayer supports H.264 media, but isn't the player itself a Flash component and therefore not playable on the iPad? Sorry if I'm not being clear, but I'm scratching my head on a graceful transition plan that will work for current browsers, the iPad and the upcoming HTML5 wave. I'm not a video expert, so any advice would be most welcome, thanks.

  • M2Eclipse and EAR projects on Weblogic

    How can I import a maven EAR project into Eclipse 3.4, and be able to use the IDE (WTP) to deploy the ear successfully to Weblogic (9.2)? The main issue is that the dependent jars are not being included in the ear (under APP-INF/lib) when it gets deployed through the IDE. When I build from command line, the ear is exactly how I want it. I am using the APP-INF/lib configuration for the ear plugin, and have included the jarModule sections for all the required jars. When editing the eclipse EAR project's Java EE components, all the jars are listed, but not in the APP-INF/lib. Only when I open a dependent jar project do those specific jars get set under that subfolder. All the 3rd party jars are showing they will end up in the wrong place.     I have had pain in my wrists in the past, and as someone who types all day, I was wondering what are some keyboards or mice that have helped for this sort of pain. Update: Many answers have recommended examining chairs/desks for ergonomics. As someone who isn't able to work from home and therefore doesn't have a lot of control over this; is ordering my own chair/desk (whether my employer or I purchase it) a solution that's really realistic?

    I want to create a Delicious bookmarklet in Firefox that bookmarks the current page with a predefined tag. For proof of concept, if I enter this url, it works: https://john:[email protected]/v1/posts/add?url=http://www.google.com& description=http://www.google.com&tags=testtag But this as a bookmark doesn't, I get access denied: javascript:( function() { location.href = 'https://john:[email protected]/v1/posts/add?' + encodeURIComponent(window.location.href) + '&description=' + encodeURIComponent(document.title) + '&tags=testtag'; } )() Is this possible via a javascript bookmark?
