  i have a site like twitter.com on server one and on server two i have forum, which path is like domain.com/forum on server one i wanted to implement wild card dns and put main domain on it. but on server two i wanted to keep forum separate, i cant give sub-domain forum.domain.com, because all its links are already put in search engines and link back to domain.com/forum. so i was wondering, how can i put domain and wild card dns on server one and still able to give path on server 2 for domain.com/forum (as sub-folder). any ideas? do you think htaccess can do that job? if yes, then how?

• Creating yum repo

  I followed this link on how to create my own yum repository for base install and update purposes. If you notice, why would I need a 5 folder on top of 5.4? My installation at the moment is all 5.4, so when I ran "yum update" it wanted to go to http://domain.com/5/... instead of picking up the 5.4 directory. Is 5 basically 5.4 w/ the most updated packages for that tree? meaning, if 5.5 comes out, 5 would be the latest and greatest and if I wanted to track 5.4, I would still need a 5.4 folder to track changes with?

• Granting rights to the sa account using osql

  I'm installing sql instances through script, and after creating a certain instance, I cannot get the sa account to be enabled through osql. What I've tried osql -S .\INSTANCENAME -E use master ALTER LOGIN sa ENABLE GO Using SSMS to enable the account (by logging in using Windows Auth., 'New query', and exactly the same query as in 1.) Suggestions in this issue No. 2. is actually working; and the account is enabled instantly. No 1 is not working, not even with the suggestions provided in 3., I have restarted the SQL services after executing the commands in osql. Additional info Windows 2003 Server, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise, No password policies apply to the account.

  We Have : Exchange 2007 Standard Edition IBM System X3650 2 x Intel Xeon 5430 2.66 GHz Version 8.1 Build 240.6 Mailbox, Hub Transport, Client Access Role Installed on One Box Total Number of Mailboxes : 110 - 130 6 Physical Disks Disk 0,1 (68 GB) = Raid-1, OS Partition ( C: Partition) Disk 2,3 (279GB) = Raid-1, Exchange Database (First and Second Storage Groups) ( D: Partition ) Disk 4,5 (68 GB) = Raid-1, Exchange Transaction Logs ( E: Partition ) Setup: Storage Groups : D:\First Storage group\Mailbox database.edb Storage Groups : D:\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database.edb Transaction Logs : E Partition Problem 1: On our D Partition (Mailbox Database Partition), total size is 279 GB, free space remaining is 64.7 GB, when I select the first storage group and second storage group folders and right click properties they report a size of 165 GB. Mailbox database reports a size of 157GB when right clicked Properties. where as the size displayed in the folder is 164,893,456 KB So, we are missing around 50-54 GB, there is nothing else on these drives, no page file, nothing at all. The partition housing the Transaction logs is reporting the sizes accurately. Any suggestions / fixes on the above ? Problem 2: As you may have already read in Problem 1, the size of the mailbox database is 157GB or 164GB reported; which is not recommended, a) What would you suggest we should do to divide mailboxes in storage groups on this same server ? b) How would we move mailboxes into different storage groups ? c) This is the information store size ? (Am I right in thinking that this is not recommended) d) Having multiple storage groups with one Mailbox DB in each, would that reduce the size of the Information Store? e) Any suggestions / how-to reduce the size of information store ? We didn't install this, we have inherited this - what other recommendations you can make in order to keep ourselves better prepared for any server disaster? We are backing up with Yosemite Backup on RD1000 (320GB) at the moment, which is backing up successfully, flushing the logs daily. We haven't done a test restore YET. I have tried to provide as much info as possible, please let me know if you need further info. Also, we haven't yet faced any problems in mailflow, access speeds, everything is working fine, we have two to five people accessing OWA or Outlook via vpn only. • Copy Thunderbird accounts and preferences from Linux to Mac/Windows

  This is similar to this question but not exactly a duplicate. My Linux laptop has recently been hanging for no apparent reason, and so I have been using a Mac OS X laptop in the meantime. I just installed Thunderbird and wanted to copy all my preferences and account settings to the new laptop. All email accounts are IMAP based. Can I simply copy the data, or does Thunderbird for OS X store data in a different format from OS X? What about if I wanted to copy the preferences to Thunderbird under Windows? Finally, what files do I copy? I haven't powered up the Linux laptop yet but I'm guessing there's a ~/.thunderbird/ directory, can I just copy this to the Mac?

  I'm hoping to get some suggestions for possible Wireless Access point/router models which will allow us to have two separate networks. We run an internal network on 10.x.x.x IP range where we have shares and other network resources for which we would like to have our regular users access. However, we would also like to offer a separate wireless network for guests which ideally would be on 192.168.x.x and these users would not be able to see any of the resources sitting on the 10.x.x.x network. Anyone have any recommendations on single devices that might be able to get the job done? I was looking at the Linksys E4200 and it seems to support what I'm looking to do... any others? • Sharepoint Server 2007 generates event log entry every 5 minutes - "The SSP Timer Job Distribution L

  I get the following error logged into the Event Log every 5 minutes: The SSP Timer Job Distribution List Import Job was not run. Reason: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer In addition, OWSTimer.exe periodically gets into a state where its consuming almost all the CPU and only killing the process or restarting the Sharepoint services fixes it (although I'm not sure if this is a related or seperate issue). I have tried the following (based on various suggestions floating around the web), all to no avail: iisreset (no affect) Added the Sharepoint and Sharepoint Search service accounts to Log on as a batch job and Log on as a service policies in the Group Policies for the domain. I went into the Local Computer Policy on the Sharepoint server and verified that those policies had actually been applied Verified that the Sharepoint and Sharepoint Search service accounts are both in the WSS_WPG group Verified in dcomcnfg that the WSS_WPG group (and indeed the Sharepoint and Sharepoint search service accounts) has local activation rights for SPSearch. Any more suggestions would be valued. Thanks

• Must I have Exchange to use Blackberry Enterprise Server Express?

  In the past I've setup BES (not express) for a company that just wanted their users on the corporate network, they didn't care for email or any other enterprise feature, they just wanted to push a policy that the phones internet should be routed through the corporate network. I want to setup BES Express now for a customer that also just wants the phones on his network but wherever I look, it says that BES Express requires Exchange. Is there a way to install BES Express without Exchange and without a AD Domain? Basically what the customer wants to accomplish is to be able to filter and log the internet access on the phones.

• CPU overheating after cleaning it

  I wanted to clean my computer CPU heatsink and fan itself, because the temperature is not what I wanted. About (50C ~ 70C). I have Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 @1.8 GHz (LGA775). The heatsink wasn't so scary filled with dust but I wanted to clean it anyway. I didn't know how to get heatsink with fan from the socket. So after 25 minutes I've figured it out. But I didn't know how to get it back on so I spent a lot time getting out the motherboard from the case. The fan and heatsink... The case and all components are clear of dust. (I'm tired now). Then I put all back just the way it was, well did few things on cable management. But the problem was that I didn't know how to connect front audio connectors. I had Windows XP hibernated. So I started the PC and everything was normal, except CMOS memory was clear. I configured the BIOS just the way it was and while I was doing that I saw about 58C CPU temperature and fan at 1789 RPM. Restarted the computer with new settings applied. But Windows halted with Blue Screen (I forgot what error it was but something with KERNEL). Restarted the PC and deleted hibernation session and everything was back normal. But couldn't record any sound from front panel microphone. The problem was that I messed ground wire with mic. Again after fixing it I turned computer on. No problems. The fan currently is noisy and temperature was 78C. The temperature before was 55C - 60C at idle. Now it's about 60C. If I do something then temperature raises to 79C. While speaking in skype the temperature was 82C. Could this problem occur because of the thermal grease (it's old and never replaced)? Edit The problem wasn't in thermal paste (because I didn't touch it). The problem was that I installed heatsink wrong. Now instead of regular 60C CPU temperature the CPU is at 48C (cool).

• Issue with PHP and osx 10.7 - runs via command line but not in browser

  I recently removed MAMP as I wanted to have more control over my machine and wanted to make use of PHP5.4 I installed using the script located here I cannot now not even get my default PHP that is built in to osx to work. I am running this script with a simple In a document in my ~/Sites directory. I am really at a loss as to why this will not work. I have php5 installed in my /usr/local directory via the link provided above and it seems like the main php is installed in /usr/bin Any and all insight on how to debug this would be greatly appreciated.

• I need a few minutes of dedicated server a week, but not for hosting, just to convert ogg etc.

  I'm completely happy with my webhosting, it's just that I need to do one little thing they won't allow, and that's run an instance of Sox to convert about 30 mp3s to ogg files, in various directories, a couple of times a week, to be done automatically in response to the detection of the upload of an mp3. Probably looking at a minute of server time over the whole week. I've had unhelpful suggestions on other forums like "why not leave your home PC on 24 hours a day and then use all your isp bandwidth to do this", which doesn't work for me. I know that I can host files on, say, Amazon S3, but is there something similar for my needs? All it would need to do would be: wget/ftp the mp3 files, convert them to ogg, ftp the files back to my hosting. Of course, all this wouldn't be needed if there was such a thing as a compiled binary of Sox (or any mp3ogg converter) for Centos which I could upload without needing root access, but I've given up asking that one, but always open to suggestions!

• Lexmark C532 error code won't go away

  I can't get rid of error code 84 - Yellow PC unit missing. I've just replaced all 4 photoconductors with genuine Lexmark parts and now the error code keeps appearing. I've swapped the PC units around so know it's not a faulty unit. I've followed the suggestions in the online Lexmark manuals and even called the Lexmark helpline but to no avail. any suggestions? Printer was fine until it gave me a PC unit life warning and I renewed them. Thanks.

• Increase backup speed, Backup Exec 2010 - QNAP TS419U+ NAS

  We have a QNAP NAS and the network shares are being backed up by Backup Exec 2010 over SMB. We can't install the remote agent on the NAS as it has an ARM processor and, as far as I am aware, there is no compatible agent. Do you have any suggestions on any faster method of backing up these shares as opposed to the current scenario? Currently the network bandwidth is not the issue, it seems that this access method is just not able to go any quicker. We've also added the NAS shares to the start of the selection list, but we're still running into 18 hours total backup time (total amount of data on the NAS is roughly 650GB). Any comments and/or suggestions welcome. EDIT: Data is being pulled from the NAS by Backup Exec to a LTO4 tape drive

• Reinstall of Microsoft Office 2010 beta isn't prompting me for upgrade vs. side-by-side installation

  I'm running Office 2007 on Windows 7. When I ran the Microsoft Office 2010 beta installation, it asked if I wanted to upgrade the existing 2007 installation or install along side 2007. I later uninstalled 2010 and rebooted. When I re-ran the Office 2010 setup program, it no longer asked if I wanted to upgrade or install side by side. It just did a side by side install by default. How can I get it to re-prompt me, as I'd now like to upgrade my 2007 install.

• Win 7 laptop taking a long time to log on when off the domain

  I've clicked through on a few forums but unable to find a suggestion for this issue. I have a user with a HP laptop which will boot perfectly fine whilst connected to the network but at home it will take 4 minutes to log on. Some suggestions I have had is that its looking for the DNS server of the domain. Another was that it was suggested it was a roaming profile (it isn't). So hoping someone has encountered Windows 7 acting like this and has some suggestions. The other users on this domain don't have the issue and its a mix of XP and Win 7 client PCs.

• Will my Lenovo One Key Recovery work if I install Ubuntu on my Ideapad U410?

  I own a Lenovo Ideapad U410. Being a game developer the first thing that I wanted to do is install Ubuntu. But I don't want to lose the Windows 7 that ships with the laptop. So, I wanted to know if the Lenovo One Key Recovery mechanism is capable of restoring the Windows 7, from the hidden recovery partition, after I install Ubunutu and enable Grub boot loader? Note: I am already aware that an alternative would be to create Factory Restore disks, to restore when necessary. But I cannot immediately do it unless I buy an External DVD Burner.

• Seeking webcam with own IP address

  I am not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I couldn't find anywhere better. I am looking for a webcam/movie cam and this site seems more addressed to still images, but ... I am looking for a small, rugged web-cam which can be hand-held or perhaps head-mounted (failing that I can settle for a tripod mount, but I need portability). It must have its own IP address so that anyone can view its video stream from a web browser. I would prefer 2 way voice communication too. Encryption of data is nice, as is compression (H.264). Maybe also remote control, like causing it to zoom from the browser. Does anyone have any suggestions, even suggestions of somewhere else to look? Thanks very much in advance.

• Trouble with installing VMWare-Player 3

  After downloading the VMware-Player 3 from the VMware-Site I wanted to install it; because I used an older VMware-Player the system wanted this to be deinstalled this version first. After starting the deinstallation I had trouble with my machine - shutdown - now I have no proper deinstallation of the older VMware-Player and everytime, I want to install the 3.0, I get an error-message. Is there any possibility, to clean up the rest of the older installation (3-4 processes are still active or are starting again, when I try to close them and therefore I can't delete different .dll-files by hand)? • Refering to a Cell in a Different Workbook

  I work between different spreadsheets, and I like to have one main workbook that links to certain cells in other workbooks. For example, I will do a statement of business activities workbook that has all the business expenses listed, and then I will have individual workbooks for each expense account. In the old excel, I would just put =(and then go to the workbook that i wanted, and then select the cell i wanted and then hit enter) and it would put the amount from that specific cell in my statement of business activities. When I try to do that in excel 2010, I put the equals sign in the cell, and then go to the other workbook and find the cell I want, and when I hit enter, it just moves down a line and nothing happens in the other workbook. How can I get this to work again, what do i need to do??

• Is there a program that compares image files and reports if they are exactly the same pixel-wise?

  I'm making a regression testing suite for some rendering software. I need to be able to load an image file (PNG or TGA, ideally) and compare the pixel values to a standard approved image. I'd like it to be command line driven too, so I can make a batch file to run all the tests. All the compare utilities I have found so far either show differences (I just need it to fail if they are different) or compare all the bytes, meaning that meta-data will trigger a fail. Anyone got any suggestions? I am not a coder, and can only barely cobble a batch script together. Thanks for any suggestions.

  Hey SuperUsers, is it possible to make some sort of change or add a plugin that allows me to make every 'external' link open in a new window? Just an example: if my blog was called http//timmy.com/ and I wanted to link to http//tom.com/, it would open a new window instead of the same window, but I wanted to link from http//timmy.com/ to http//timmy.com/somewhere/ in the same window. So I want all external link from my website to another in a new window/tab, but I want every internal link, from my website to somewhere else on my website, to be in the same window/tab. Is this possible?

• XNA Music mixing real-time

  I've created a "format" to store segments of music (prelude part, repeated part, ending part) and time information for these segments (offset, scored length) so I can mix it up in real-time as if it were one piece of music, while repeating the repeated part (optionally) indefinitely. This way, the segments can store decay where the next segment is played, while the previous one is finished. (I've created a player for this in Java, and used the Clip class.) I wanted this format, so I can provide a finite length music (for a jukebox feature), while I play infinite length music in-games. However, when I wanted to code a class in XNA that manages this "format" I've noticed, that there is no obvious way to play "Songs" simultaneously/overlapped. How can I do this/what is the best practice, not leaving the XNA framework? (I don't want to create infinite play-lists.)
