  • JQuery Hover li Show div which sits outside li structure

    - by Dave_Stott
    Hi everyone I'm currently trying to create a "mega" dropout menu using JQuery but have encountered an issue I'm yet to be able to resolve. At the moment I have the following HTML structure: <div id="TopNav" class="grid_16"> <ul class="cmsListMenuUL level0" id="TopNavMenu"> <li class="cmsListMenuLIcmsListMenuLI highlightedLI" id="TopNavMenu_Home"><a href="/"> <span class="text">Home</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLIfirst" id="TopNavMenu_0_1"><a href="/Key-Sectors.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"> <span class="text">Key Sectors</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLI" id="TopNavMenu_0_2"><a href="/Global-Brands.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"> <span class="text">Global Brands</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLI" id="TopNavMenu_0_3"><a href="/News---Features.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"> <span class="text">News &amp; Features</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLI" id="TopNavMenu_0_4"><a href="/Videos.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"> <span class="text">Videos</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLI" id="TopNavMenu_0_5"><a href="/Events.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"> <span class="text">Events</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLI" id="TopNavMenu_0_6"><a href="/Key-Cities.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"> <span class="text">Key Cities</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLI" id="TopNavMenu_0_7"><a href="/Doing-Business-in-Yorkshire.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"><span class="text">Doing Business in Yorkshire</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLI" id="TopNavMenu_0_8"><a href="/How-We-Can-Help.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"> <span class="text">How We Can Help</span></a></li> <li class="cmsListMenuLI" id="TopNavMenu_0_9"><a href="/Contact-Us.aspx" class="cmsListMenuLink"> <span class="text">Contact Us</span></a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="sectorsDropped"> <div class="floatLeft leftColumn"> <div class="parentItem" style="border-color: #0064BE;"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Advanced-Engineering---Materials.aspx" class="parentItemContent"> Advanced Engineering &amp; Materials</a><div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Advanced-Engineering---Materials/Nuclear.aspx">- Nuclear</a></div> <div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Advanced-Engineering---Materials/Logistics---Infrastructure.aspx"> - Logistics &amp; Infrastructure</a></div> </div> <div class="parentItem" style="border-color: #FFB611;"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Chemicals.aspx" class="parentItemContent">Chemicals</a></div> <div class="parentItem" style="border-color: #B7CC0B;"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Environmental-Technologies.aspx" class="parentItemContent">Environmental Technologies</a><div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Environmental-Technologies/Offshore-Wind.aspx">- Offshore Wind</a></div> <div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Environmental-Technologies/Carbon-Capture---Storage.aspx">- Carbon Capture &amp; Storage</a></div> <div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Environmental-Technologies/Tidal-Power.aspx">- Tidal Power</a></div> <div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Environmental-Technologies/Biomass.aspx">- Biomass</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="floatLeft rightColumn"> <div class="parentItem" style="border-color: #AC26AA;"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Digital---New-Media.aspx" class="parentItemContent">Digital &amp; New Media</a></div> <div class="parentItem" style="border-color: #e1477e;"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Food---Drink.aspx" class="parentItemContent">Food &amp; Drink</a></div> <div class="parentItem" style="border-color: #00c5b5;"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Healthcare-Technologies.aspx" class="parentItemContent">Healthcare Technologies</a><div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Healthcare-Technologies/Biotechnology.aspx">- Biotechnology</a></div> <div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Healthcare-Technologies/Pharmaceuticals.aspx">- Pharmaceuticals</a></div> <div class="childItem"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Healthcare-Technologies/Medical-Devices.aspx">- Medical Devices</a></div> </div> <div class="parentItem" style="border-color: #AC1A2F;"> <a href="/Key-Sectors/Financial---Professional.aspx" class="parentItemContent">Financial &amp; Professional</a></div> </div> </div> In normal circumstances the div containing the "mega" menu options would sit inside the li item that fires the show/hide but this is currently not possible as the ul list of navigation links is rendered using a 3rd party piece of software which does not provide an equivalent of an OnItemDataBound event for me to be able to inject the div into the item Does anyone know of a way, using JQuery, of showing the div but maintain the display of the div as the mouse focus leaves the li that originaly displayed the div and actually enters the div? I'm currently using the following JQuery which displays the div correctly but as the mouse focus enters the div the div then disappears as the mouse focus from the li has now moved: $(document).ready(function() { function addMega(){ $(".sectorsDropped").toggle("fast"); } function removeMega(){ $(".sectorsDropped").toggle("fast"); } var megaConfig = { interval: 500, sensitivity: 4, over: addMega, timeout: 500, out: removeMega }; $("#TopNavMenu_0_1").hoverIntent(megaConfig) }); Thanks Dave

  • Windows 7 Blank Screen on Boot / Login

    - by Greg
    I have a new system that's having a few problems... sometimes (seems to be when the PC is cold, i.e. has been switched off for a while, though that could be my imagination) I get a blank blue screen when I boot up. The system boots normally and auto-logs-in. The desktop loads and I'm even able to launch applications, but then everything disappears and the screen goes to the default windows desktop blue colour (not the desktop image, just a plain blue with no mouse cursor). At this point the machine completely locks up - I'm unable to even toggle Num Lock and have to hold in the power button for 5 seconds to kill it. Interestingly if I manage to launch some applications before it goes blank, they will usually crash... sometimes explorer.exe will crash too. When I reboot, the system is fine and stable. I've installed the latest graphics drivers and run memtest86+ for 6 passes (and counting) with no errors. The system specs are: CPU: Intel I7 2.66 @ 3.4GHz RAM: 6GB (3 * 2GB DDR3) HDD: 128GB Crucial M225 SSD Motherboard: Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Gfx: ATI Radeon Sapphire 5870 1GB Note: There are a few similar questions but I haven't found one that matches my symptoms

  • VIM with iA Writer type formatting?

    - by Ambidex
    I've been Googling for a while now. I would like to have iA Writer-like (or a bit like StackExchange) formatting in Vim. Since I love the way it formats my texts, but I'm constantly pressing "w" to skip words because my experience with Vim. I would love to be able to have the same smart formatting in Vim. I did found a nice Vim plugin for getting Vim to toggle to big and clean font: https://github.com/honza/writer.vim But this still does not enable me to use the formatting: # Header 1 ## Header 2 *underline* **strong** etc... Besides all this above, I would not mind to have Vim like shortcuts in my iA writer app if it would not be possible to implement iA formatting in Vim. Edit: After a while of even more searching, I found out this type of formatting is called Markdown. I am starting to think there isn't really a good way to directly edit a Markdown file in Vim, because Vim is not able to make things display like that? I would really like to be able to use the movement shortcuts in combination of the nice formatting of Markdown and how it is displayed in iA Writer.

  • How do I use key combinations on an axis on a joystick in xorg?

    - by valadil
    I'm using xserver-xorg-input-joystick on Debian Stable so I can use a joystick in place of the mouse. I have mouse movement working correctly, but got stuck trying to add functions for some other keys. These work: #Left stick #Pointer Option "MapAxis1" "mode=relative axis=1.5x" Option "MapAxis2" "mode=relative axis=1.5y" #Right stick #Arrow keys Option "MapAxis4" "mode=relative keylow=Left keyhigh=Right" Option "MapAxis5" "mode=relative keylow=Up keyhigh=Down" But when I try to make key combos (so I can navigate windows and screens in xmonad) I have no luck. #dpad #xmonad focus #up/down toggle window. l/r choose screen. Option "MapAxis8" "mode=relative keylow=Super_L,k keyhigh=Super_L,j" Option "MapAxis7" "mode=relative keylow=Super_L,w keyhigh=Super_L,e" I've also tried Super_R, plain old Super, Meta, and mod4mask, and anything else I can think of. These buttons print the letter, but don't appear to hold down the modifying key. The exception to that is shift. If I specify Shift_L or Shift_R, I get a capital letter. xev indicates that modifier keys are being pressed. If I lower Axis8, I get press Super_L, press k, release k, release Super_L. That looks like it should be working. Maybe this is an xmonad problem and not a joystick driver one? I'm also having trouble with getting an axis to use other XF86 keys: # triggers # song selection Option "MapAxis3" "mode=relative keylow=none keyhigh=XF86AudioForward" Option "MapAxis6" "mode=relative keylow=none keyhigh=XF86AudioBack" That does nothing. Any idea why? If it turns out that this isn't something I can do on an axis, but would work with a button, is there a way to treat my joysticks as buttons? Also, if anyone has suggestions for the other 5 buttons I'll have left after mouse buttons are bound, I'm listening.

  • Mapped network drive missing from My Computer and Explorer

    - by matt wilkie
    On a Windows XP Pro SP3 machine one network drive refuses to show up in My Computer or Explorer. The missing drive letter is G:, if that matters. Other mappings work fine. Other profiles one the same machine have no problem mapping G:. I can access the G: just fine typing it into the address bar or in CMD shell. I've used TweakUI to toggle hide/show G: with no difference. TweakUI says G: should be visible. I've logged off,on between toggles to make sure the settings are taking effect. I've looked at reg key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] and made sure it's zero'd. [insert ref link here] We've limped along with this broken setup for some time, just working around it, but some applications do not allow typing in a path when choosing a place to save files and it's reached the point where it's intolerable. So, anyone have any idea why XP won't show this drive letter? or how to fix it?

  • Advice on resizing 1280*720 for web audiences.

    - by jamiethompson90
    Forgive my spelling, I'm posting this from my mobile. I've recently decided to record videos to help teach a visual language. My camera likes to boast it can record in 1280; its a cheap camera about £75 so the quality isn't amazing. But its okay. Anyways, it has some other settings for lower res, but I figure might as well record in a larger size in case the need arises for a bigger source file in the future. I've been looking at jw player to play the converted files (mp4 to flv I think). What do you think a good size would be to convert to? I want to to look nice and clear remembering it is a visual language so lip patterns, facial expressions, body movement, fingers etc are all important, sound is not that important but I would like to have a choice to toggle captions. Thanks for any help, any advice apreciated, first time I have done a video project! P.s. If anyones interested its BSL. Jamie

  • Dell laptop keyboard doesn't work

    - by Tam
    I'm trying to fix my in-laws laptop, it's a Dell Studio 1745 that's running Windows 7 64 bit. The problem is that most of the keys on the keyboard do not work. The function keys work and the caps lock and numpad keys work, but no other keys do. If I hit the F2 key enough times when starting up, I can get to the BIOS, but after that even the function keys stop working. If I let it go all the way to the Windows login screen, I can see that the caps lock and num lock work - little images on screen actually appear, but they don't toggle the state of the key, i.e.,capslock is always off, numlock is always off. Using the fn+function combo works, so changing the brightness, etc. works fine. I'm stumped. I've tried disconnecting power and battery and leaving it for an hour or so before starting up but that hasn't helped either. Also - this might be a red herring - the touchpad is failing as well, the MS Device Manager says that it's failing with status 10, "unable to start device"

  • F2 in Paste mode

    - by dotancohen
    Vim has a terrific paste mode, in which abbreviations and mappings are ignored. Frustratingly, even keys that do not map to pastable ASCII characters, such as the function keys, are pasted literally. For instance the key F2 is pasted as <F2>. Is there anyway around this? Note that pastetoggle can in fact be mapped to a function key to easily leave paste mode, however the function that I am writing changes other values when entering or leaving paste mode (such as enabling or disabling line numbers and other things). Therefore I would really like to find a workaround. For reference, here is the current version of the function (that gets stuck in paste mode): iab if if<Space>(<Space>{{<Esc>kA<Left><Left><Left><Left><C-R>=Eatchar('\s')<CR> " Triple-toggle Insert Modes: coding, prose, and paste let g:insertModeGlobal=1 function! Te() if g:insertModeGlobal==3 " Was in paste insert mode, go to coding insert mode set nu set nopaste let g:insertModeGlobal=4 endif if g:insertModeGlobal==2 " Was in prose insert mode, go to paste insert mode set nolinebreak nnoremap j j nnoremap k k nnoremap gj gj nnoremap gk gk set relativenumber execute ":Signs" iab if if<Space>(<Space>{{<Esc>kA<Left><Left><Left><Left><C-R>=Eatchar('\s')<CR> set nonu set paste let g:insertModeGlobal=3 endif if g:insertModeGlobal==1 " Was in coding insert mode, go to prose insert mode set linebreak nnoremap j gj nnoremap k gk nnoremap gj j nnoremap gk k set number execute ":DisableSigns" iab if if let g:insertModeGlobal=2 endif if g:insertModeGlobal==4 let g:insertModeGlobal=1 endif endfunction

  • Hide/Show some HTML table cells individually and align the remaining cells as they belong to the same row [closed]

    - by Brian
    [Edited at the resquest of admins] The best way I can explain my problem is showning an example. I have the table that you can see on the link below (since I can't post images...), that ha a table head (blue) and four rows, whose cells are green and white in color. I just want the white cells to hide/show alternately by clicking on green cells, which would remain always visible as parent cells. After hiding white cells, the green ones should be aligned into the same row, as they would fit like tetris bricks. That's all, I think more clear is impossible. http://i.stack.imgur.com/3n3In.jpg (follow the link to see the image explanation) The table code: <table class="columns" cellspacing="0" border="0"> <tr> <td class="left" rowspan="2"> <div style="text-align:center;"></div> </td> </tr><tr><td class="middle"> <div id="detail_table_source" style="display:none"></div> <br> <table id="detail_table" class="detail"> <colgroup> <col style="width:20px;"> <col style="width:40px;"> <col style="width:70px;"> <col style="width:20px;"> </colgroup> <thead> <tr> <th width="88">Blahhh</th> <th width="211">BLAHH</th> <th width="229">BLAHH</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr class="parent" id="row123" style="cursor: pointer; " title="Click to expand/collapse"> <td bgcolor="#A6A4CC">Blahhh</td> <td bgcolor="#A6A4CC">blah blah </td> <td bgcolor="#A6A4CC">Blahh</td> </tr> <tr class="child-row123" style="display: none; "> <td rowspan="3" bgcolor="#5B5B5B">&nbsp;</td> <td>blah blah </td> <td>blah blah</td> </tr> <tr class="child-row123" style="display: none; "> <td>blah blah</td> <td>blah blah</td> </tr> <tr class="child-row123" style="display: none; "> <td>blah blah</td> <td>blah blah</td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#6B7A94" class="parent" id="row456" style="cursor: pointer; " title="Click to expand/collapse"><strong>Blahh</strong></td> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF" class="child-cell456" style="display: none; ">blah blah</td> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF" class="child-cell456" style="display: none; ">blah blah</td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="4" valign="top" bgcolor="#5B5B5B" class="child-row456" style="display: none; ">&nbsp;</td> <td bgcolor="#6B7A94" class="parent" id="cell456" style="cursor: pointer; " title="Click to expand/collapse">blah blah</td> <td bgcolor="#6B7A94" class="parent" id="cell456" style="cursor: pointer; " title="Click to expand/collapse">blah blah</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="child-cell456" style="display: none; ">blah blah</td> <td class="child-cell456" style="display: none; ">blah blah</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="child-cell456" style="display: none; ">blah blah</td> <td class="child-cell456" style="display: none; ">blah blah</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> The script to hide/show whole rows (this works because it is copied from another example): <script language="javascript"> $(function() { $('tr.parent') .css("cursor","pointer") .attr("title","Click to expand/collapse") .click(function(){ $(this).siblings('.child-'+this.id).toggle(); }); $('tr[@class^=child-]').hide().children('td'); }); </script> And the failed attempt at expanding/hiding individual cells: <script language="javascript"> $(function() { $('td.parent') .css("cursor","pointer") .attr("title","Click to expand/collapse") .click(function(){ $(this).siblings('.child-'+this.id).toggle(); }); $('td[@class^=child-]').hide().children('td'); }); </script>

  • All is working except if($_POST['submit']=='Update')

    - by user1319909
    I have a working registration and login system. I am trying to create a form where a user can add product registration info (via mysql update). I can't seem to get the db to actually update the fields. What am I missing here?!? <?php define('INCLUDE_CHECK',true); require 'connect.php'; require 'functions.php'; // Those two files can be included only if INCLUDE_CHECK is defined session_name('tzLogin'); // Starting the session session_set_cookie_params(2*7*24*60*60); // Making the cookie live for 2 weeks session_start(); if($_SESSION['id'] && !isset($_COOKIE['tzRemember']) && !$_SESSION['rememberMe']) { // If you are logged in, but you don't have the tzRemember cookie (browser restart) // and you have not checked the rememberMe checkbox: $_SESSION = array(); session_destroy(); // Destroy the session } if(isset($_GET['logoff'])) { $_SESSION = array(); session_destroy(); header("Location: index_login3.php"); exit; } if($_POST['submit']=='Login') { // Checking whether the Login form has been submitted $err = array(); // Will hold our errors if(!$_POST['username'] || !$_POST['password']) $err[] = 'All the fields must be filled in!'; if(!count($err)) { $_POST['username'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username']); $_POST['password'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['password']); $_POST['rememberMe'] = (int)$_POST['rememberMe']; // Escaping all input data $row = mysql_fetch_assoc(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM electrix_users WHERE usr='{$_POST['username']}' AND pass='".md5($_POST['password'])."'")); if($row['usr']) { // If everything is OK login $_SESSION['usr']=$row['usr']; $_SESSION['id'] = $row['id']; $_SESSION['email'] = $row['email']; $_SESSION['first'] = $row['first']; $_SESSION['last'] = $row['last']; $_SESSION['address1'] = $row['address1']; $_SESSION['address2'] = $row['address2']; $_SESSION['city'] = $row['city']; $_SESSION['state'] = $row['state']; $_SESSION['zip'] = $row['zip']; $_SESSION['country'] = $row['country']; $_SESSION['product1'] = $row['product1']; $_SESSION['serial1'] = $row['serial1']; $_SESSION['product2'] = $row['product2']; $_SESSION['serial2'] = $row['serial2']; $_SESSION['product3'] = $row['product3']; $_SESSION['serial3'] = $row['serial3']; $_SESSION['rememberMe'] = $_POST['rememberMe']; // Store some data in the session setcookie('tzRemember',$_POST['rememberMe']); } else $err[]='Wrong username and/or password!'; } if($err) $_SESSION['msg']['login-err'] = implode('<br />',$err); // Save the error messages in the session header("Location: index_login3.php"); exit; } else if($_POST['submit']=='Register') { // If the Register form has been submitted $err = array(); if(strlen($_POST['username'])<4 || strlen($_POST['username'])>32) { $err[]='Your username must be between 3 and 32 characters!'; } if(preg_match('/[^a-z0-9\-\_\.]+/i',$_POST['username'])) { $err[]='Your username contains invalid characters!'; } if(!checkEmail($_POST['email'])) { $err[]='Your email is not valid!'; } if(!count($err)) { // If there are no errors $pass = substr(md5($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'].microtime().rand(1,100000)),0,6); // Generate a random password $_POST['email'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['email']); $_POST['username'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username']); $_POST['first'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['first']); $_POST['last'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['last']); $_POST['address1'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['address1']); $_POST['address2'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['address2']); $_POST['city'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['city']); $_POST['state'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['state']); $_POST['zip'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['zip']); $_POST['country'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['country']); // Escape the input data mysql_query(" INSERT INTO electrix_users(usr,pass,email,first,last,address1,address2,city,state,zip,country,regIP,dt) VALUES( '".$_POST['username']."', '".md5($pass)."', '".$_POST['email']."', '".$_POST['first']."', '".$_POST['last']."', '".$_POST['address1']."', '".$_POST['address2']."', '".$_POST['city']."', '".$_POST['state']."', '".$_POST['zip']."', '".$_POST['country']."', '".$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']."', NOW() )"); if(mysql_affected_rows($link)==1) { send_mail( '[email protected]', $_POST['email'], 'Your New Electrix User Password', 'Thank you for registering at www.electrixpro.com.   • Application Demos in UPK

    - by [email protected]
    Over the years, User Productivity Kit has expanded to include solutions to many project challenges. As of UPK 3.6.1, solutions are provided for pre and post application go-live learning, application testing, system documentation, presentation output, and more. New in UPK 3.6.1 are additional features that can be used effectively for application demo purposes. This can come in handy when you need to do a demo but don't want to show or can't show the live application. Maybe you're doing a presentation for a group of project stakeholders and want to focus on the business workflow implemented by the application rather than the mechanics of using it. Or possibly, you need to show the application but you're disconnected from any network preventing you from running the live application. In any of these cases, a presentation aid that represents the live application is what's needed. Previous versions of the UPK topic player would allow you to do this but would always show those UPK user interface elements that help a user learn the application. When you're presenting the narrative live, the UPK bubbles can be a distraction. UPK 3.6.1 provides some new features that allow you to control whether the bubbles display. There are two ways to hide bubbles in a topic. The first is a topic property that allows you to control bubbles across the entire topic. There are 3 settings for the Show Bubbles topic property. The default setting is Use frame settings which allows you to control whether bubbles display on a frame by frame basis. When you choose Always, the bubbles will always display regardless of the frame setting. The final choice is Never. Choosing Never will hide every bubble in your topic with one setting change. As with Always, choosing Never will ignore the frame setting. The second way to control the bubbles is at the frame level. First ensure that the topic's Show Bubbles property is set to Use frame settings. Navigate to the frame on which you want to turn off the bubble and click the Display bubble for this frame button to turn off the bubble. When you play the topic, the bubble will no longer be displayed. Depending on your needs, you might also use another longstanding UPK feature that allows you to control whether the action area displays on a frame. Just click the Action area on/off button to toggle its display. I've found the frame properties to be useful beyond creating presentation aids. When creating "See It!" only topics for more advanced users, I may hide the bubbles on some of the more straightforward frames. For example, if I have a form where one needs to fill out an address, I may display the first bubble in the sequence and explain what the subsequent steps are doing. I then hide bubbles on the remaining frames which are the more mechanical steps of entering the address. We'd like to hear your thoughts on this new UPK feature. Use the comments below to tell us how you've used it. John Zaums Senior Director, Product Development Oracle User Productivity Kit

  • Crop, Edit, and Print Photos in Windows 7 Media Center

    - by DigitalGeekery
    Windows Media Center is a nice application for managing and displaying your personal photos, but you may occasionally need to make some basic edits to your pictures. Today we’ll take a look at how to crop, edit, and print photos right from Windows 7 Media Center. From within the Picture Library in Windows Media Center, choose a photo to work with, right-click and select Picture Details. You can also access this option with a Media Center remote by clicking the “i” button. Note: You’ll notice you have the option to rotate the picture from this menu. It is also available on the next screen.  Rotate a picture Now you’ll see more options on the Picture Details screen. From here you can rotate, Print, or Touch Up, Delete, or Burn a CD/DVD. To rotate the picture, simple select Rotate. Note: If you want your photo saved with the new orientation, you’ll need to select Save from the Touch Up screen that we will look at later in the article.   Each click will rotate the picture 90 degrees clockwise. You’ll see the new orientation of the picture displayed on the Picture Details screen after you have clicked Rotate. Print a picture From the Picture Details screen, select Print. Click Print again. • Visual Studio Exceptions dialogs

    - by Daniel Moth
    Previously I covered step 1 of live debugging with start and attach. Once the debugger is attached, you want to go to step 2 of live debugging, which is to break. One way to break under the debugger is to do nothing, and just wait for an exception to occur in your code. This is true for all types of code that you debug in Visual Studio, and let's consider the following piece of C# code:3: static void Main() 4: { 5: try 6: { 7: int i = 0; 8: int r = 5 / i; 9: } 10: catch (System.DivideByZeroException) {/*gulp. sue me.*/} 11: System.Console.ReadLine(); 12: } If you run this under the debugger do you expect an exception on line 8? It is a trick question: you have to know whether I have configured the debugger to break when exceptions are thrown (first-chance exceptions) or only when they are unhandled. The place you do that is in the Exceptions dialog which is accessible from the Debug->Exceptions menu and on my installation looks like this: Note that I have checked all CLR exceptions. I could have expanded (like shown for the C++ case in my screenshot) and selected specific exceptions. To read more about this dialog, please read the corresponding Exception Handling debugging msdn topic and all its subtopics. So, for the code above, the debugger will break execution due to the thrown exception (exactly as if the try..catch was not there), so I see the following Exception Thrown dialog: Note the following: I can hit continue (or hit break and then later continue) and the program will continue fine since I have a catch handler. If this was an unhandled exception, then that is what the dialog would say (instead of first chance exception) and continuing would crash the app. That hyperlinked text ("Open Exception Settings") opens the Exceptions dialog I described further up. The coolest thing to note is the checkbox - this is new in this latest release of Visual Studio: it is a shortcut to the checkbox in the Exceptions dialog, so you don't have to open it to change this setting for this specific exception - you can toggle that option right from this dialog. Finally, if you try the code above on your system, you may observe a couple of differences from my screenshots. The first is that you may have an additional column of checkboxes in the Exceptions dialog. The second is that the last dialog I shared may look different to you. It all depends on the Debug->Options settings, and the two relevant settings are in this screenshot: The Exception assistant is what configures the look of the UI when the debugger wants to indicate exception to you, and the Just My Code setting controls the extra column in the Exception dialog. You can read more about those options on MSDN: How to break on User-Unhandled exceptions (plus Gregg’s post) and Exception Assistant. Before I leave you to go play with this stuff a bit more, please note that this level of debugging is now available for JavaScript too, and if you are looking at the Exceptions dialog and wondering what the "GPU Memory Access Exceptions" node is about, stay tuned on the C++ AMP blog ;-) Comments about this post by Daniel Moth welcome at the original blog.

  • jqGrid - customizing the multi-select option (restrict single selection and adding custom events)

    - by Renso
    Goal: Using the jgGrid to enable a selection of a checkbox for row selection - which is easy to set in the jqGrid - but also only allowing a single row to be selectable at a time while adding events based on whether the row was selected or de-selected. Environment: jQuery 1.4.4 jqGrid 3.4.4a Issue: The jqGrid does not support the option to restrict the multi-select to only allow for a single selection. You may ask, why bother with the multi-select checkbox function if you only want to allow for the selection of a single row? Good question, as an example, you want to reserve the selection of a row to trigger another kind of event and use the checkbox multi-select to handle a different kind of event; in other words, when I select the row I want something entirely different to happen than when I select to check off the checkbox for that row. Also the setSelection method of the jqGrid is a toggle and has no support for determining whether the checkbox has already been selected or not, So it will simply act as a switch - which it is designed to do - but with no way out of the box to only check off the box (as in not to de-select) rather than act like a switch. Furthermore, the getGridParam('selrow') does not indicate if the row was selected or de-selected, which seems a bit strange and is the main reason for this blog post. Solution: How this will act: When you check off a multi-select checkbox in the gird, and then commence to select another row by checking off that row's multi-select checkbox - I'm not talking there about clicking on the row but using the grid's multi-select checkbox - it will de-select the previous selection so that you are always left with only a single selection. Furthermore, once you select or de-select a multi-select checkbox, fire off an event that will be determined by whether or not the row was selected or de-selected, not just merely clicked on. So if I de-select the row do one thing but when selecting it do another. Implementation (this of course is only a partial code snippet):             multiselect: true,             multiboxonly: true,             onSelectRow: function (rowId) {                 var gridSelRow = $(item).getGridParam('selrow');                 var s;                 s = $(item).getGridParam('selarrrow');                 if (!s || !s[0]) {                     $(item).resetSelection();                     $('#productLineDetails').fadeOut();                     lastsel = null;                     return;                 }                 var selected = $.inArray(rowId, s) != -1;                 if (selected) {                     $('#productLineDetails').show();                 }                 else {                     $('#productLineDetails').fadeOut();                 }                 if (rowId && rowId !== lastsel && selected) {                     $(item).GridToForm(gridSelRow, '#productLineDetails');                     if (lastsel) $(item).setSelection(lastsel, false);                 }                 lastsel = rowId;             }, In the example code above: The "item" property is the id of the jqGrid. The following to settings ensure that the jqGrid will add the new column to select rows with a checkbox and also the not allow for the selection by clicking on the row but to force the user to have to click on the multi-select checkbox to select the row: multiselect: true, multiboxonly: true, Unfortunately the var gridSelRow = $(item).getGridParam('selrow') function will only return the row the user clicked on or rather that the row's checkbox was clicked on and NOT whether or not it was selected nor de-selected, but it retrieves the row id, which is what we will need. The following piece get's all rows that have been selected so far, as in have a checked off multi-select checkbox: var s; s = $(item).getGridParam('selarrrow'); Now determine if the checkbox the user just clicked on was selected or de-selected: var selected = $.inArray(rowId, s) != -1; If it was selected then show a container "#productLineDetails", if not hide that container away. The following instruction populates a form with the grid data using the built-in GridToForm method (just mentioned here as an example) ONLY if the row has been selected and NOT de-selected but more importantly to de-select any other multi-select checkbox that may have been selected: if (rowId && rowId !== lastsel && selected) {                     $(item).GridToForm(gridSelRow, '#productLineDetails');                     if (lastsel) $(item).setSelection(lastsel, false); }

  • Day 5 - Tada! My Game Menu Screen Graphics

    - by dapostolov
    So, tonight I took some time to mash up some graphics for my game menu screen. My artistic talent sucks...but here goes nothing...voila, my menu screen!! The Menu Screen The screen above is displaying 4 sprites, even though it looks like maybe 7... I guess one of the first things for me to test in the future is ... is it more memory efficient (and better frame rate) to draw one big background image OR tp paint the screen black, and place each sprite in set locations? To display the 4 sprites above, I borrowed my code from yesterday ... I know, tacky, but...I wanted to see it, feel it. Do you feel it? FEEL IT! (homer voice & shakes fist) Note: the menu items won't scale properly as it stands with this code, well pretty much they do nothing except look pretty... Paint.Net & Google Fun So how did I create that image above? Well, to create the background and 3 menu items I used Paint.Net. Basically, I scoured Google images for: a stone doorway, a stone pillar, an old book, a wizards hat, and...that's it pretty much it! I'll let you type in those searches and see if you can locate the images I used. I know, bad developer...but I figured since I modified the images considerably it doesn't count...well for a personal project it shouldn't count...*shrug* Anyhow, I extracted each key assest I wanted from each image and applied lots of matting, blurring, color changes, glow effects and such. Then, using my vivid imagination I placed / composed each of the layered assets into the mashed up the "scene" above. Pretty cool, eh? Hey, did you know, the cool mist effect is actually a fire rendition in Paint.net? I set it to black & white with opacity set next to nothing. I'm also very proud of the yellow "light" in the stone doorway. I drew that in and then applied gausian blur to it to give it the effect of light creeping out around the door and into the room...heheh. So did I achieve the dark, mysterious ritual as I stated in my design doc? I think I had a great stab at it! Maybe down the road I can get a real artist to crank out some quality graphics for the game... =) So, What's Next? Well, I don't have that animated brazier yet...however, I thought it would be even cooler if I can get that door pulsing that yellow light and it would be extremely cool to have the smoke / mist moving across the screen! Make the creative ideas stop!! (clutches head) haha! I'm having great fun working on this project =) I recommend others giving something like this a try, it's really fulfilling. OK. Tomorrow... I think I'm going to start creating some game / menu objects as per the design doc, maybe even get a custom mouse cursor up on the screen and handle a couple of mouse events, and lastly, maybe a feature to toggle a framerate display... D.

  • Find Knowledge Quickly

    - by Get Proactive Customer Adoption Team
    Untitled Document Get to relevant knowledge on the Oracle products you use in a few quick steps! Customers tell us that the volume of search results returned can make it difficult to find the information they need, especially when similar Oracle products exist. These simple tips show you how to filter, browse, search, and refine your results to get relevant answers faster. Filter first: PowerView is your best friend Powerview is an often ignored feature of My Oracle Support that enables you to control the information displayed on the Dashboard, the Knowledge tab and regions, and the Service Request tab based on one or more parameters. You can define a PowerView to limit information based on product, product line, support ID, platform, hostname, system name and others. Using PowerView allows you to restrict: Your search results to the filters you have set The product list when selecting your products in Search & Browse and when creating service requests   The PowerView menu is at the top of My Oracle Support, near the title You turn PowerView on by clicking PowerView is Off, which is a button. When PowerView is On, and filters are active, clicking the button again will toggle Powerview off. Click the arrow to the right to create new filters, edit filters, remove a filter, or choose from the list of previously created filters. You can create a PowerView in 3 simple steps! Turn PowerView on and select New from the PowerView menu. Select your filter from the Select Filter Type dropdown list and make selections from the other two menus. Hint: While there are many filter options, selecting your product line or your list of products will provide you with an effective filter. Click the plus sign (+) to add more filters. Click the minus sign (-) to remove a filter. Click Create to save and activated the filter(s) You’ll notice that PowerView is On displays along with the active filters. For more information about the PowerView capabilities, click the Learn more about PowerView… menu item or view a short video. Browse & Refine: Access the Best Match Fast For Your Product and Task In the Knowledge Browse region of the Knowledge or Dashboard tabs, pick your product, pick your task, select a version, if applicable. A best match document – a collection of knowledge articles and resources specific to your selections - may display, offering you a one-stop shop. The best match document, called an “information center,” is an aggregate of dynamically updated links to information pertinent to the product, task, and version (if applicable) you chose. These documents are refreshed every 24 hours to ensure that you have the most current information at your fingertips. Note: Not all products have “information centers.” If no information center appears as a best match, click Search to see a list of search results. From the information center, you can access topics from a product overview to security information, as shown in the left menu. Just want to search? That’s easy too! Again, pick your product, pick your task, select a version, if applicable, enter a keyword term, and click Search. Hint: In this example, you’ll notice that PowerView is on and set to PeopleSoft Enterprise. When PowerView is on and you select a product from the Knowledge Base product list, the listed products are limited to the active PowerView filter. (Products you’ve previously picked are also listed at the top of the dropdown list.) Your search results are displayed based on the parameters you entered. It’s that simple! • Obfuscation is not a panacea

    - by simonc
    So, you want to obfuscate your .NET application. My question to you is: Why? What are your aims when your obfuscate your application? To protect your IP & algorithms? Prevent crackers from breaking your licensing? Your boss says you need to? To give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside? Obfuscating code correctly can be tricky, it can break your app if applied incorrectly, it can cause problems down the line. Let me be clear - there are some very good reasons why you would want to obfuscate your .NET application. However, you shouldn't be obfuscating for the sake of obfuscating. Security through Obfuscation? Once your application has been installed on a user’s computer, you no longer control it. If they do not want to pay for your application, then nothing can stop them from cracking it, even if the time cost to them is much greater than the cost of actually paying for it. Some people will not pay for software, even if it takes them a month to crack a $30 app. And once it is cracked, there is nothing stopping them from putting the result up on the internet. There should be nothing suprising about this; there is no software protection available for general-purpose computers that cannot be cracked by a sufficiently determined attacker. Only by completely controlling the entire stack – software, hardware, and the internet connection, can you have even a chance to be uncrackable. And even then, someone somewhere will still have a go, and probably succeed. Even high-end cryptoprocessors have known vulnerabilities that can be exploited by someone with a scanning electron microscope and lots of free time. So, then, why use obfuscation? Well, the primary reason is to protect your IP. What obfuscation is very good at is hiding the overall structure of your program, so that it’s very hard to figure out what exactly the code is doing at any one time, what context it is running in, and how it fits in with the rest of the application; all of which you need to do to understand how the application operates. This is completely different to cracking an application, where you simply have to find a single toggle that determines whether the application is licensed or not, and flip it without the rest of the application noticing. However, again, there are limitations. An obfuscated application still has to run in the same way, and do the same thing, as the original unobfuscated application. This means that some of the protections applied to the obfuscated assembly have to be undone at runtime, else it would not run on the CLR and do the same thing. And, again, since we don’t control the environment the application is run on, there is nothing stopping a user from undoing those protections manually, and reversing some of the obfuscation. It’s a perpetual arms race, and it always will be. We have plenty of ideas lined about new protections, and the new protections added in SA 6.6 (method parent obfuscation and a new control flow obfuscation level) are specifically designed to be harder to reverse and reconstruct the original structure. So then, by all means, obfuscate your application if you want to protect the algorithms and what the application does. That’s what SmartAssembly is designed to do. But make sure you are clear what a .NET obfuscator can and cannot protect you against, and don’t expect your obfuscated application to be uncrackable. Someone, somewhere, will crack your application if they want to and they don’t have anything better to do with their time. The best we can do is dissuade the casual crackers and make it much more difficult for the serious ones. Cross posted from Simple Talk.

  • Silverlight data binding to parent user control's properties with using MVVM in both controls

    - by MagicMax
    Hello! I have two UserControls ("UserControlParentView" and "UserControlChildView") with MVVM pattern implemented in both controls. Parent control is a container for Child control and child control's property should be updated by data binding from Parent control in order to show/hide some check box inside Child control. Parent Control Description UserControlParentViewModel has property: private bool isShowCheckbox = false; public bool IsShowCheckbox { get { return isShowCheckbox; } set { isShowCheckbox = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("IsShowCheckbox"); } } UserControlParentViewModel - how I set DataContext of Parent control: public UserControlParentView() { InitializeComponent(); this.DataContext = new UserControlParentViewModel(); } UserControlParentView contains toggle button (in XAML), bound to UserControlParentViewModel's property IsShowCheckbox <ToggleButton Grid.Column="1" IsChecked="{Binding IsShowCheckbox, Mode=TwoWay}"></ToggleButton> Also Parent control contains instance of child element (somewhere in XAML) <local:UserControlChildView IsCheckBoxVisible="{Binding IsShowCheckbox}" ></local:UserControlChildView> so property in child control should be updated when user togggle/untoggle button. Child control contains Boolean property to be updated from parent control, but nothing happened! Breakpoint never fired! Property in UserControlChildView that should be updated from Parent control (here I plan to make chechBox visible/hidden in code behind): public bool IsCheckBoxVisible { get { return (bool)GetValue(IsCheckBoxVisibleProperty); } set { SetValue(IsCheckBoxVisibleProperty, value); } } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for IsCheckBoxVisible. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty IsCheckBoxVisibleProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("IsCheckBoxVisible", typeof(bool), typeof(TopMenuButton), new PropertyMetadata(false)); So the question is - what I'm doing wrong? Why child's property is never updated? BTW - there is no any binding error warnings in Output window...

  • Javascript or CSS hover not working in Safari and Chrome

    - by PAZtech
    I have a problem with a script for a image gallery. The problem seems to only occur on Safari and Chrome, but if I refresh the page I get it to work correctly - weird! Correct function: The gallery has a top bar, which if you hover over it, it will display a caption. Below sits the main image. At the bottom there is another bar that is a reversal of the top bar. When you hover over it, it will display thumbnails of the gallery. The problem: In Safari and Chrome, the thumbnail holder will not display. In fact, it doesn't even show it as an active item (or a rollover). But oddly enough, if you manually refresh the page it begins to work correctly for the rest of the time you view the page. Once you have left the page and return the same error occurs again and you have to go through the same process. Here's one of the pages to look at: link text Here's the CSS: #ThumbsGutter { background: url(../Images/1x1.gif); background: url(/Images/1x1.gif); height: 105px; left: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px; • Mimicking the UltraGridColumnChooser's drag & drop ability

    - by Sören Kuklau
    (Infragistics 2008 Vol. 3, CLR 2.0) Infragistics's UltraGrid comes with a column chooser user control, which is simply a vertical arrangement of columns with checkboxes that toggle a column's hidden state. In addition, it allows you to pick a column and drag it directly to the grid so you don't have to manually position it afterwards. (This is particularly handy when you already have a lot of visible columns and have no clue where the new one ended up.) I'm building my own column chooser based on an UltraTree. Getting the checkboxes to behave the same wasn't an issue, but I haven't found a way to drag a column from the tree to the grid and have it accept it. In my tree, each UltraTreeNode has a Tag with the following struct: Private Structure DraggableGridColumn Public NodeKey As String Public NodeName As String Public ParentKey As String Public Column As UltraGridColumn End Structure I then have an event as follows: Private Sub columnsTree_SelectionDragStart(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles columnsTree.SelectionDragStart If columnsTree.SelectedNodes.Count <> 1 Then Return End If If Not TypeOf columnsTree.SelectedNodes(0).Tag Is DraggableGridColumn Then Return End If Dim column As UltraGridColumn = CType(columnsTree.SelectedNodes(0).Tag, DraggableGridColumn).Column columnsTree.DoDragDrop(column, DragDropEffects.All) End Sub In the DoDragDrop call, neither column (of type UltraGridColumn) nor column.Header (of type ColumnHeader) get accepted by the grid. I assume I'm sending the wrong type, and/or that the grid expects a special struct with some additional information. Unfortunately, I've also failed to catch an event (both on the column chooser side as well as on the grid side) where Infragistics's normal column chooser does this properly; the normal drag & drop events never seem to fire.

  • Why jquery have problem with onbeforeprint even?

    - by Cesar Lopez
    Hi all, I have the following function. $(function() { $(".sectionHeader:gt(0)").click(function() { $(this).next(".fieldset").slideToggle("fast"); }); $("img[alt='minimize']").click(function(e) { $(this).closest("table").next(".fieldset").slideUp("fast"); e.stopPropagation(); return false; }); $("img[alt='maximize']").click(function(e) { $(this).closest("table").next(".fieldset").slideDown("fast"); e.stopPropagation(); return false; }); }); <script type="text/javascript"> window.onbeforeprint = expandAll; function expandAll(){ $(".fieldset:gt(0)").slideDown("fast"); } </script> For this html <table class="sectionHeader" ><tr ><td>Heading 1</td></tr></table> <div style="display:none;" class="fieldset">Content 1</div> <table class="sectionHeader" ><tr ><td>Heading 2</td></tr></table> <div style="display:none;" class="fieldset">Content 2</div> I have several div class="fieldset" over the page, but when I do print preview or print, I can see all divs sliding down before opening the print preview or printing but on the actual print preview or print out they are all collapse. I would appreciate if anyone comes with a solution for this. Anyone have any idea why is this or how to fix it? Thanks. PS:Using a does not work either ( I assume because jquery using toggle) and its not the kind of question I am looking for.

  • jqGrid disable sortablerows

    - by gurun8
    I'm trying to disable sortablerows functionality from a grid. I'd like to have the ability to toggle on/off the sortablerows functionality. Enabling the feature is pretty straightforward: jQuery("#list").jqGrid('sortableRows', { update: function(event, ui) { updateOrder() } }); But disabling the feature has proven to be a little bit harder. I've consulted the UI Integrations where sortableRows is documented in the jqGrid Wiki: www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:jquery_ui_methods And found that "The method is fully compatible with jQuery UI sortable widget." So I ventured off to the jQuery UI sortable documentation and found this: http://jqueryui.com/demos/sortable/ jQuery("#list").jqGrid('sortableRows', {disabled: true}); The code above simply disables the rows. So I moved onto the destroy method: jQuery("#list").jqGrid('sortableRows', {destroy: true}); but that doesn't do anything. Based upon the documentation the destroy method seems to be exactly what I need, so maybe my syntax is wrong but I can't seem to get it to work. Does anyone have experience with this same issue?

  • HOW TO: Draggable legend in matplotlib

    - by Adam Fraser
    QUESTION: I'm drawing a legend on an axes object in matplotlib but the default positioning which claims to place it in a smart place doesn't seem to work. Ideally, I'd like to have the legend be draggable by the user. How can this be done? SOLUTION: Well, I found bits and pieces of the solution scattered among mailing lists. I've come up with a nice modular chunk of code that you can drop in and use... here it is: class DraggableLegend: def __init__(self, legend): self.legend = legend self.gotLegend = False legend.figure.canvas.mpl_connect('motion_notify_event', self.on_motion) legend.figure.canvas.mpl_connect('pick_event', self.on_pick) legend.figure.canvas.mpl_connect('button_release_event', self.on_release) legend.set_picker(self.my_legend_picker) def on_motion(self, evt): if self.gotLegend: dx = evt.x - self.mouse_x dy = evt.y - self.mouse_y loc_in_canvas = self.legend_x + dx, self.legend_y + dy loc_in_norm_axes = self.legend.parent.transAxes.inverted().transform_point(loc_in_canvas) self.legend._loc = tuple(loc_in_norm_axes) self.legend.figure.canvas.draw() def my_legend_picker(self, legend, evt): return self.legend.legendPatch.contains(evt) def on_pick(self, evt): if evt.artist == self.legend: bbox = self.legend.get_window_extent() self.mouse_x = evt.mouseevent.x self.mouse_y = evt.mouseevent.y self.legend_x = bbox.xmin self.legend_y = bbox.ymin self.gotLegend = 1 def on_release(self, event): if self.gotLegend: self.gotLegend = False ...and in your code... def draw(self): ax = self.figure.add_subplot(111) scatter = ax.scatter(np.random.randn(100), np.random.randn(100)) legend = DraggableLegend(ax.legend()) I emailed the Matplotlib-users group and John Hunter was kind enough to add my solution it to SVN HEAD. On Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 3:02 PM, Adam Fraser wrote: I thought I'd share a solution to the draggable legend problem since it took me forever to assimilate all the scattered knowledge on the mailing lists... Cool -- nice example. I added the code to legend.py. Now you can do leg = ax.legend() leg.draggable() to enable draggable mode. You can repeatedly call this func to toggle the draggable state. I hope this is helpful to people working with matplotlib.
