  • amixer volume controls applies twice

    The volume increment or decrement is happening double the intended amount using amixer for my alsa driver using ./amixer -c 0 set Master 1- command. This happens becuase by default volume controls apply for both playback and capture moduels. My alsa driver config doesnt enabled any of the capture controls. even there is no capture enabled, the function from simple_none.c returns true for capture channel. All the capture volume controls are applied to my playback driver. static int is_ops(snd_mixer_elem_t *elem, int dir, int cmd, int val) case SM_OPS_IS_CHANNEL: return (unsigned int) val < s-str[dir].channels; ./amixer -c 0 set Master Playback 10+ ./amixer -c 0 set Master Playback 10 - ./amixer -c 0 set Master Capture 10+ ./amixer -c 0 set Master Capture 10 - I suspect capture is enabled by default in my system for alsa drivers.   • Winform custom control in WPF

    Hi, I'm inserting a custom winform control in a WPF/ XAML window, however i'm realising that the sizing seems to be very different, what i designed in winform to be 730pixels wide for instance, when placed via a WindowsFormsHost, in a container 730pixels (or at least i think they're pixels..) wide, the control looks much larger and doesnt fit in the host and results in clipping from the right and bottom. Would anyone know how to make these sizes match or something? I'm really at a loss and its very difficult to fix a custom control to make it look as it should off hand on WPF! Please help!

  • validates_associated in production

    Hi all. Imagine a simple model. class Service belongs_to :user validates_associated :user accepts_nested_attributes_for :user end Nothing special right? The validations on the associated User model trigger correctly in development mode. But don't do anything in production. I've added a validates_on_presence :user just like the docs say. This triggers when there's no User associated with the Service, but fill in one thing on the User model and nothing happens! It's driving me up the walls. Am I overlooking something? More info about the MVC: I use formtastic for the forms. Thanks!

  • Convert input to integer before save in rails

    Hello, i have a set of select inputs representing a users birthday: birthyear, birthmonth and birthday. And i want to validate birthyear like this: validates_inclusion_of :birthyear, :in => Date.today.year-50..Date.today.year-12 So the user can be at least 12 years but at most 50 years when they are registering. But my problem is that the variable from the input is a string and not an integer. So how can i convert the input to an integer? or is there any easier way to check the users age? Thanks, Micke

    I want to have my own base TabItem class and use other classes that derive from it. I define base class in MyNs namespace like this: public class MyCustomTab : TabItem { static MyCustomTab() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(MyCustomTab), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(TabItem))); } } And this is what I do for the class that inherits from it: code-behind in MyNs namespace: public partial class ActualTab : MyCustomTab { public ActualTab() { InitializeComponent(); } } XAML: <MyCustomTab x:Class="MyNs.ActualTab" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <Grid> </Grid> </MyCustomTab> The error I get is "The tag 'MyCustomTab' does not exist in XML namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation'". If I use TabItem tag in XAML the error says that it's not possible to define to different base classes. How to fix this?

  • Custom Silverlight button with <Path> content and visual states

    I would like to create a button control that has a Path element as its content--an IconButton if you will. This button should fulfill two conditions: 1. The Path element's stroke and fill colors should be available for manipulation by the VisualStateManager. 2. The Path element's data string (which defines it's shape) can be set in code or in XAML, so that I can create several such buttons without creating a new custom control for each. The only way I can see to do it would involve no XAML whatsoever. That is, setting all the visual states and animations in the code behind, plus generating the Geometry objects point by point (and not being able to use the convenient Data string property on the Path element). Is there a simpler way to do this?

  • recaptcha asp.net always returns invalid

    The reCaptcha example for ASP.NET does not seem to work. I followed the instructions but it always returns false, "The verification words are incorrect.". The entries are good. I'm using localhost as the site but am not getting any public/private key errors which I did get when adding a bad key (as a test). I've seen this error reported a lot but no good answers. Some suggest to call the validate on the control before checking to see if it is valid but this did not work for me.

    Hopefully some Custom Control Designers/Builders can help I'm attempting to build my first custom control that is essential a client detail collection form. There are to be a series of elements to this form that require various styles applied to them. Ideally I'd like the VS 2005/2008 properties interface to be able to apply the CSSClass as it does at the control level, i.e. with a dropdown list of available CSS Clases. Take for example the Class to be applied to the legend tag /// <summary>Css Class for Legend</summary> [Category("Appearance")] [Browsable(true)] [DefaultValue("")] //I am at a loss as to what goes in [Editor] [Editor(System.Web.UI.CssStyleCollection), typeof(System.Drawing.Design.UITypeEditor))] public string LegendCSSClass { get { return _LegendCSSClass; } set { _LegendCSSClass = value; } } I have tried a couple of options, as you can see from above, without much luck.     I am using javascript (and PHP) to validate a simple form with a phone number field. I have it working fine checking that the field has only 10 characters, but I really want to check if the field has between 10 and 11 characters. Reason being, some people type numbers like so: 1 555 555 5555 and some people do this 555 555 5555.   • JSF - Prevent validationFailed when raising a WARN ValidatorException

    Hello, I have a form which uses validators for its fields. These validators can send back either Severity.SEVERITY_ERROR or Severity.SEVERITY_WARN messages, as illustrated: if (!isInMainFamily) { FacesMessage message = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_WARN, "You should make sure to tag your competency in at least one main category", null); throw new ValidatorException(message); } However, SEVERITY_WARN messages are not blocking for me. They are just a way to tell the user they should correct their input, but won't prevent them from submitting the form and saving their data. However, it seems that throwing any kind of ValidatorException flags the FacesContext as "validationFailed", which then prevents the submission of the form. Is there a way to get around this? Or am I misunderstanding something? Thanks a lot for your help, Sébastien

One question I wanted to verify (I think I know the answer, but I can't find verification online) - does the DataType DataAnnotation perform regular expression checks to ensure that you have received a valid e-mail/phone/currency/etc?     I have a standard html form where the user can specify a website/domain: favourite website: [ ] I expect the user to type things like: [www.google.com] [www.yahoo.com] [www.example.co.jp] I want to validate the domain/site via javascript so if a user had typed something wrong: [www...google.com] [www.-example.com] I tell them straight away.
