  • Is there a version of postActionEvent for KeyEvent (specifically for a JTextArea)?

    I'm writing a program that contains multiple JTextFields and 2 JTextAreas within an input panel. I have a submit button on the bottom. I have it set up so when a user types something into each field (including the JTextAreas) and hits the Enter key, it updates a text file, and when they press the submit button it updates the file then outputs a new version of it in the local directory. If the user presses Enter in any of the fields, it validates their input, however, I want to re-validate all fields when they press the submit button. Each field (again, JTextAreas included) has it's own validation check within its ActionListener or KeyListener (for the JTextAreas). It's easy enough to use postActionEvent() for the JTextFields, but is there a similar method for the JTextAreas to force fire a KeyEvent? I don't want to duplicate code and consume memory by re-writing the validation for those 2 Components inside the ActionEvent for the JButton. Unfortunately, I can't provide a sample because I'm writing the program on a classified machine (PC).

    Hi, I have some hidden fields on my page, all of which work fine apart from one.   • how to populate an entity you have extended in the Entity Framework?

    I have an entity in my EDMX that I've extended with a few fields in a partial class like this: public partial class Employee { public string JobName {get;set;} } These properties are for display only. In the above example say the entity has a JobTypeID property. I wish JobName to be populated w/ the name that belongs to that JobTypeID. Is there anyway to query the employee record in EF including the value for the JobName property w/o explicity assigning each field using select()? The reason I ask is that there are a lot of fields in the Employee entity so I'd like to be able to take advantage of something like: ctx.Employees.Where(e=>e.EmployeeID==employeeID).Single() ...add somehow fill in JobName too Is this possible?

  • Can I make PDOStatement->fetchObject not use non-member variables?

    Lets say I have a class like this: Class User { var $id var $name; } And I run a query using PDO in php like so: $stm = $db->prepare('select * from users where id = :id'); $r = $stm->execute(array(':id' => $id)); $user = $r->fetchObject('User'); If I vardump my user object it has all kinds of other fields in it that I have not defined in the User class. Obviously I could make my query specific so that it only gives me back the fields I need/want. But if I don't want to do that is there any way to make this work the way I want it to? I like the idea of fetchObject, because it's one line of code to create this object and set member variables for me. I just don't want it to set variables I haven't defined in my class.

    I need to create an input form that will allow a user to enter any number of values for a particular attribute. I've tried several approaches, all of which seem to have various levels of failure. The latest model bean looks something like: public class Product { private String name; private String[] tags; ...accessors... } The input fields look something like: <h:inputText id="name" value="#{product.name}"></h:inputText> <h:inputText id="tag0" value="#{product.tag[0]}"></h:inputText> My plan was to allow the user is to use javascript to add additional form fields as needed. This type of setup gives me a 'Target Unreachable' error. What am I missing? I am using JSF 1.1 on WebSphere 6.1

    I am using mvc to create forms that are generated at runtime. For validation, I am trying my hand at the jquery validation library which is very convenient to use. I have the validation expression of each field in the cdata attribute of the tag <input type="text" name="xyz" id="xyz" class="defaultTextBox" cdata="{validate:{required:true, decimal:true, messages: {required:'Please enter an decimal value', decimal:'Please enter a valid decimal'}}}"> This works beautifully. Now one more requirement I have is that some fields are being shown and hidden according to the logic on the page and I need to disable the validation on the hidden fields such that they do not interfere with the form submission. Just toggling the required:true to false and back to true should be enough. Only i do not know how. Anyone has any experience with that?

There is a screencast on auto-completion with Prototype library by Ryan Bates ( http://railscasts.com/episodes/102-auto-complete-association). On the other hand, I have noticed that quite many guys suggest jQuery for this task ( http://jquery.bassistance.de/autocomplete/demo/). And I guess, there was probably some development last year(s), so I ask you - what would you use nowadays to auto-complete your form fields and why?     I need your help to understand this better. This is my case. I have a custom validator for each of my input controls in the form. So when there is any validation error,I add a corresponding FacesMessage in the validate method. My understanding was that when there is any validation error - or when there are any FacesMessages added in the validate method of the Custom Validator, it would skip the INVOKE APPLICATION phase and would directly call the RENDER RESPONSE PHASE - showing the FacesMessage that was added in the PROCESS VALIDATION Phase - Is this correct? The problem I'm facing is - I add a FacesMessage in the PROCESS VALIDATION Phase - because of a validation error - and I add a confirmation message for the action that was taken by the user in the INVOKE APPLICATION PHASE - Now both are shown in the page in the RENDER RESPONSE Phase ? - If my understanding is correct in the above question - is it the best practice to conditionally add a confirmation FacesMessage after confirming that there are no FacesMessages in the currect FacesContext ? Appreciate your help.

  • Visual Studio 2012 testing with csla and entity framework

    In VS2010 my MSTest test run just fine. When running in VS2012 I am getting an error. The test sets the Csla.ApplicationContext.User with a Custom Business Principal. When EntityFramework is asked to provide a new ObjectContext I receive a SerializationException saying that my Custom Business Principal type cannot be found. So far all tests that use EntityFramework fail when running through VS2012's test runner or Resharper7's test runner. I have tried NCrunch's test runner and they all pass. Thank you in advance.

  • How to Retrieve Values of A Dynamically Created Control's Child Controls on PostBack?

    Given: I have a custom server control in the markup of an aspx page. This control creates child controls in its CreateChildControls() method (e.g. it retrieves content from a database and based on that content dynamically creates either a CheckBoxList or a RadioButtonList) Now I understand that I cannot access the dynamically created controls on postback unless I add them again on Page_Init or Page_PreInit (as per here). My question is, how do I add them again explicitly in Page_Init or Page_PreInit if they are just going to be added yet again when we get around to calling Render() on each of the custom server controls? I'm very certain this is not a unique problem, so there must be a best practice way of doing it...I just don't know what it is :/

  • How can I make a UIPickerView like a UIDatePicker?

    I have a custom UIViewController subclass which acts as Datasource and Delegate for a UIPickerView which I would like to serve two different purposes, as each are simple enough, and don't really warrant separate files. One operation must be as a custom picker, and this works fine. However, for the other operation, I want it to act just like a UIDatePicker. The problem is, UIDatePicker is a subclass of UIControl, not UIPickerView. Is there any sort of enum value I can set in a method (or other way) that will set the UIPickerView to act as a date picker? Or do I have to make two completely different classes and use them differently (pain in the ass)?

    I had created a new table named USERLOG with two fields from a previous VIEW. The table already consist of about 9000 records. The two fields taken from the VIEW, i.e. weblog_views consist of IP (consists of IP address), and WEB_LINK (consists of URL). This is the code I used, CREATE TABLE USERLOG AS SELECT C_IP, WEB_LINK FROM weblog_views; I want to add another column to this table called the USER_ID, which would consists of a sequence starting with 1 to 9000 records to create a unique id for each existing rows. I need help with this part. I'm using Oracle SQL Developer: ODMiner version 3.0.04. I tried using the AUTO-INCREMENT option, ALTER TABLE USERLOG ADD USER_ID INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT; But I get an error with this, Error report: SQL Error: ORA-01735: invalid ALTER TABLE option 01735. 00000 - "invalid ALTER TABLE option" So, I would really appreciate any help that I can get!

I think a button, a input text box, a list box (that will need a scroll bar as there will be more items that can fit on the screen) and a slider control will be enough. I know about CeGUI framework but i just don't like it, way too many XML files for my taste. My question is where should i start in learning how to do this custom GUI controls, are there any tutorial available or any material that could get me started? I haven't done a GUI contol myself before.

  • Methodology for a Rails app

    I'm undertaking a rather large conversion from a legacy database-driven Windows app to a Rails app. Because of the large number of forms and database tables involved, I want to make sure I've got the right methodology before getting too far. My chief concern is minimizing the amount of code I have to write. There are many models that interact together, and I want to make sure I'm using them correctly. Here's a simplified set of models: class Patient < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :PatientAddresses has_many :PatientFileStatuses end class PatientAddress < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :Patient end class PatientFileStatus < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :Patient end The controller determines if there's a Patient selected; everything else is based on that. In the view, I will be needing data from each of these models. But it seems like I have to write an instance variable in my controller for every attribute that I want to use. So I start writing code like this: @patient = Patient.find(session[:patient]) @patient_addresses = @patient.PatientAddresses @patient_file_statuses = @patient.PatientFileStatuses @enrollment_received_when = @patient_file_statuses[0].EnrollmentReceivedWhen @consent_received = @patient_file_statuses[0].ConsentReceived @consent_received_when = @patient_file_statuses[0].ConsentReceivedWhen The first three lines grab the Patient model and its relations. The next three lines are examples of my providing values to the view from one of those relations. The view has a combination of text fields and select fields to show the data above. For example: <%= select("patientfilestatus", "ConsentReceived", {"val1"="val1", "val2"="val2", "Written"="Written"}, :include_blank=true )% <%= calendar_date_select_tag "patient_file_statuses[EnrollmentReceivedWhen]", @enrollment_complete_when, :popup=:force % (BTW, the select tag isn't really working; I think I have to use collection_select?) My questions are: Do I have to manually declare the value of every instance variable in the controller, or can/should I do it within the view? What is the proper technique for displaying a select tag for data that's not the primary model? When I go to save changes to this form, will I have to manually pick out the attributes for each model and save them individually?   • Database design: How should I add an information which can apply to several tables

    I am constructing a database System using Mysql, this will be an application of about 20 tables. The system contains information on farmers, we work with organic certification and need to record a lot of info for that. In my system, there are related parent-child tables for farmers, producing years and fields/areas - it's a simple representation of the real world in which farmers farm crops on their fields. I now need to add several status flags for each one of these levels: a farmer can be certified, or his field can be, or the specific year can be; each of these flags has several states and can occur a number of times. The obvious solution to this would be to add a child table to every one of these tables, and define the states there. What I wonder if there is an easier way to do this to avoid getting to many tables? Where/how would be best practise to keep that data?

    Is there a decent GUI tool for Windows that allows to publish files from/to a remote FTP (or SFTP) server with the same ease of use that WinMerge offers in local discs? I'll basically use it to upload changes to web sites. I've tried like a dozen tools and they're all terrible. They have difficult interfaces, you need to spend ten minutes configuring absurdly complicate project settings, there's no simple way to ignore specific files or they use custom databases that break when someone else uploads files—not to mention deployment frameworks that force you to script everything in their custom language. I don't need or even want to schedule or automate. I want a manual process I can review. I'm tired of picking files one by one in Filezilla while reading the Subversion logs. I'd love an open source tool but...

    I am trying to access the "MYSQL" database tables to create a GUI for adding users and privileges. Doing this, I have run into my first NHibernate problem. How do i map MySQL Enum's to a C# Boolean? Or if not possible then to at least a Enum? The database fields are delcared as enum('N', 'Y') These are all of the privilege fields in the database.   • Changing Clickonce source folder

    We copy our production build in a separate folder using post-build events, and replace the app.config file with our production app.config. However Clickonce reads the files in bin\Release folder. I have also tried copying all files from our custom build location to bin\Release folder in the post-build event, but app.config is still overridden (I guess clickonce re-builds the project into bin\Release). Is it possible to tell Clickonce to read from our custom folder? Or, if that's not the right way to go, how do you handle this kind of situation?
