  Hi all, Sorry if this is a noob question, I searched quite a bit and couldn't find an answer. I'm developing a html5 app that relies on sqlite for local storage.   I remember running into this problem when I started using OpenGL in OS X. Eventually I solved it, but I think that was just by using glut and c++ instead of Objective-C... The lines of code I have in init for the ES1Renderer are as follows: glEnable(GL_DEPTH_TEST); glDepthFunc(GL_LEQUAL); Then in the render method, I have this: glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT); I assume I'm missing something specific to either the iPhone or ES. What other steps are required to enable the depth test? Thanks

  Hi, guys, I've been developing an iphone web application for a while, and encountered a weird problem: when open the web app in safari(with safari chrome, not starting it from home screen), safari can generate proper "If-Not-Modified-Since" and "If-None-Matches", so the server simply gives 304 Not Modified to speed up the process. however, when starting the app from home screen, safari seems to forget these two headers, and server always replies with 200 OK... any ideas for this?

  My colleagues have a heated debate on what is the future of web development. One side is supporting HTML5 and the other is supporting Silverlight. There is no conclusion of the debate yet. In my humble opinion as a programmer, HTML5 will not improve programming productivity, while Silverlight will. In my understanding, programmers still need to program in JavaScript to take advantage of HTML5. For Silverlight, we can use C# which is static-type language. A lot of coding defects can be found in compilation time. For HTML5, different browsers might still have different behavior even though there is spec. For Silverlight, generally what works in IE will work the same way in other browsers. Just my thoughts. Any idea on how to choose future direction of web development?

  I am compiling an IPhone application via command line (so no XCode options involved) and I am unable to get my symbol names to show when profiling with Instruments. I have tried several flags such as -gdawrf-2 and -g without any success. I have also tried using dsymutils to generate a .dSYM file but i have no clue how I'm supposed to use it so that failed aswell. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  I am trying to sync my (Mac) desktop, with an iPad and an iPhone. OSX mounts WebDAV as a native filesystem, but syncing results in all files in my directory structure being copied again. This occurs when I use rsync -a or even a simple rsync -r. Various iPhone OS apps use the WebDAV server in iPhone OSX to transfer files. This occurs on several apps I use including GoodReader.

  Greetings, With all the existing development towards web development and emerging technologies in that area, I'm left wondering; what is a state of the art way to implement desktop applications in this day and age? If you were to start a new application of considerable size from scratch what technology would you invest your efforts in (focusing on cross platform portability, decent performance and interoperability with existing standards)? I've looked into the Adobe Air platform which appears quite impressive but seems rather limited to support a large application. Would something like Java/SWT still be the sensible choice?
