  • Automatic login into asp.net site from flash movie

    Hello friends, I have a landing page designed as a flash movie. Please visit http://ivautoinc.com. The movie contains login button. For now when you click on this button I am redirecting to asp.net site login page. What I need is if you click on login button, the login form which is designed within flash will be shown on the same movie. The users will provide username and password. As soon as they press OK button they should see the page from my asp.net site as it is displayed after loggin in. Can anybody help me? Thanks for sharing your valuable time.

  • Linq to Entities performance within ASP.NET Development Server

    I've been evaluating linq to entities and linq to SQL for a project. Obviously each has its own advantages and disadvantages which have been discussed plenty of times here. However, One thing I am seeing with L2E is kind of odd. Using L2S, when using the ASP.NET Development Server, the performance is a little slower for my web service calls. I'm looking at 300ms vs. 250 ms. However, when using L2E, when using ASP.NET Dev Server, the performance is awful. I'm talking 1,250 ms vs. 220 ms. I know I should probably just use local IIS for development, but I'm curious if anyone else has seen this, or knows what is causing it.

    Hi, I want to use Christian Bach's tableSorter client-side table sorting jQuery plugin with my asp.Net GridView control. But the problem is, in the documentation it writes: tablesorter works on standard HTML tables. You must include THEAD and TBODY tags: And unfortunately asp.net renders my GridView only with tags and header row stays within as the 1st row. I have tried: dgvRate.HeaderRow.TableSection = TableRowSection.TableHeader; after calling .DataBind(); It only helped to have <TH></TH> within the header . But still everything is inside <tbody> Can I accomplish this, I mean moving my 1st row from <tbody></tbody> to <thead></thead> ? I do not want to add it manually on PreRender stage; I am sure this could be handled much simpler, isn't it? thanks

    I notice with ASP.NET if the server side control TextBox is used with out autopostback it will not submit (or postback) the form when typed text ends with enter, which is different from the behavior for plain old HTML pages. Fine, I can set autopostback to get the behavior I want after the enter key. However, autopostback will also cause submit (or postback) when the typed text does not end with enter but focus has changed (i.e. with tab or mouse click), which again is different from plain old HTML pages. How can I get an ASP.NET page to behave the same as a plain old HTML page with respect to text input regardless of whether enter key or change of focus occurs?

    I'm working on a tutorial to build a media player in Silverlight and am trying to wire up an EventHandler to the timer.Tick event of a DispatchTimer object so that the time of the video is synced with a Slider object. The sample code is in C# and I can't for the life of me figure out the proper syntax in VB.NET with RaiseEvent and/or Handles to wire up the event. Below is the relevant C# code. I tried checking the event log for errors, but found nothing. Or more precisely, I did find local an activation permission error, but this was fixed once I added local launch/activation permission for Network Service to the Machine Debug Manager via the component services tool.     Hi, I am about to upgrade my pc, and operating system at the same time. I was wondering what version of Windows 7 to get pre-installed, given that I want to do some ASP.NET development using Visual Studio. Specifically : Will all versions of Windows 7 run an IIS server & be suitable for ASP.NET development ? Are all good for running SQL Server etc ? Will Windows 7 have any probs running old versions of Visual Studio (Ie. 2003 & 2005 versions). Are there any other things I need to consider ? I'm probably going for the 32 bit version of Windows 7. Windows Server 2003 has been built to test the application. The database has been scripted across using MS SQL Server GUI. ASP.Net application services tables were created using an utility. The connection strings are stored in the web.config and connectionStrings.config. The application connects to the database successfully, but then it times out after 10 seconds.

  • Security Token/Cross Domain Cookie in Classic ASP?

    I have an interesting conundrum. We have a site that is a completely separate domain, we'll say http://www.x.com and our own site that is http://www.y.com. The y.com site is actually a classic ASP site, and we aren't converting it to .NET at this time. The problem is that there is a link on x.com that redirects to y.com from a members area. We want to "authenticate" the user to make sure they are a member from the other site. If they are, they are directed to a members area on y.com. If not, they have to provide login information on y.com. Cookies obviously don't work due to the cross domain security, but is there a way around this? I've also looked at a service for tokens, but I'm not sure exactly how that works in Classic ASP. Any ideas or suggestions?

  • Spawning Process Never Finishes on ASP.NET Page

    The code below spawns the process and sits forever, never finishing. It doesn't matter what process I run. If I use delegates it doesn't work either. It just hangs up in my dev and on the test enviornment. Also, if I use Shell with Wait it does the same thing. If I set wait to false in either approach it works just fine. It's ASP.NET 2.0 VB.NET DotNetNuke 4.0 on Windows Server 2003. I can't even phathom why this would hang up. UPDATE: It causes the CPU to throttle up but it's not running anything. It's like there's something weird going on in the threading.   • ASP.NET Build Images Links Dynamically

    Good Day, I am developing a website that has product images on an external server. I have code that tests to see if the image exists like (pseudo code): DynamicString = FunctionThatCreatesDynamicString() ' DynamicString = "http://external_server/path/to/file1.jpg" If ImageExists(DyanmicString) = StatusCode.200 Then ' Embed link in ASP.NET page Else ' Embed not found image in ASP.NET page End If My code builds fine and appears to execute. The problem occurs when I attempt to view the external link in a browser, the image appears properly (I have to authenticate first, but that's OK considering I'm on an internal network and this app will be used internally). However, when I attempt the view the source in my generated HTML page, I am seeing the image to the "Not Found" image when I know the image is there. I compared all the characters in my dynamically assembled to the external link and all the characters are matching up correctly. I'm wondering if the authentication has anything to do with why the image is not rendering properly on my rendered HTML. Any thoughts? TIA, coson

    I'm working on an old web application in Visual Studio .Net 2003 (yeeich) and I'm having an issue with a Checkbox that will not set the Visibility to True. It's declared as such: Protected WithEvents chkTraining As System.Web.UI.WebControls.CheckBox and <asp:CheckBox id="chkTraining" runat="server" Visible="False"></asp:CheckBox> When I am debugging through the line that has: chkTraining.Visible = True it goes past it fine, but as I check this value on the very next line, chkTraining.Visible = False. What could possibly be going on here? There's no events firing off or anything else going on... this really is throwing me for a loop. Thanks for your help.

    We have several fairly large JavaScript files embedded into a single script resources DLL. This is then consumed by multiple projects by way of a reference and page includes via the ASP.NET script manager. This keeps things nice and neat within our ASP.NET pages and requires very little work to integrate into new projects. The problem is that some of these script files are quite larger (approx 100KB) and take time to download. By running minify on them before embedding this is reduced down a lot (around 70KB) but not enough. What we would like to do is GZIP the files before they are embedded. However, just gzipping the files causes syntax errors as the content is not unzipped. There is a content type "text/javascript" applied in AssemblyInfo when the resource is embedded but we can't find a way to specify content-encoding. Is there any way to make this work without having to write a httpmodule/handler (which would mean changing the config for all consuming projects)?

Solution needs to be JScript classic ASP. I am reading a file from a remote server and I want to process that (binary) file on my server and spit the results back to the client as XML. Here's a simplified version of what I am trying to do. This code runs, or will if the URL is filled in for your site. This test file is readbin.asp. It reads a file called test.bin, and writes the result to a stream. I used a stream because that makes it easier to read the file and parse the contents.
