How to check whether data is stored in core data ?

i am new to iphone development. I am trying to save a static values in to core data database.I want to check whether the data is stored to the database, i am not able to retrieve the data from the database, so i want to check myself whether i made mistake in retrieving the data or in storing the data itself. Transfering data from Excel to dataGridView

I have a problem when I want to transfer data from Excel to dataGridView in C#. My Excel's column has numeric and alphanumeric values. But for example, if the column has 3 numbers and 2 alphanumeric values then only the numbers are shown in the dataGridView, and vice versa. Why aren't all the values shown? Processing JSON data with jQuery - strange results needing alert()

I have this code below. I randomly ran across that it will work if I have that alert message exactly where it is. If I take it out or move it to any other spot the tabs will not appear. What exactly is that alert doing that allows the code to work and how can I make it work without the alert? Responsible BI for Excel, Even for Older Versions

On Wednesday, I will have the honor of co-presenting, for both The Data Warehouse Institute (TDWI) and the New York Technology Council. on the subject of Excel and BI. My co-presenter will be none other than Bill Baker, who was a Microsoft Distinguished Engineer and, essentially, the father of BI at that company. Details on the events are here and here. We'll be talking about PowerPivot, of course, but that's not all. Probably even more important than any one product, will be our discussion of whether the usual characterization of Excel as the nemesis of IT, the guilty pleasure of business users and the antithesis of formal BI is really valid and/or hopelessly intractable. Without giving away our punchline, I'll tell you that we are much more optimistic than that. There are huge upsides to Excel and while there are real dangers to using it in the BI space, there are standards and practices you can employ to ensure Excel is used responsibly. And when those practices are followed, Excel becomes quite powerful indeed. One of the keys to this is using Excel as a data consumer rather than data storage mechanism. Caching data in Excel is OK, but only if that data is (a) not modified and (b) configured for automated periodic refresh. PowerPivot meets both criteria -- it stores a read-only copy of your data in the form of a model, and once workbook containing a PowerPivot model is published to SharePoint, it can be configured for scheduled data refresh, on the server, requiring no user intervention whatsoever. Data refresh is a bit like hard drive backup: it will only happen reliably if it's automated, and super-easy to configure. PowerPivot hits a real home run here (as does Windows Home Server for PC backup, but I digress). The thing about PowerPivot is that it's an add-in for Excel 2010. What if you're not planning to go to that new version for quite a while? What if you’ve just deployed Office 2007 in your organization? What if you're still on Office 2003, or an even earlier version? What can you do immediately to share data responsibly and easily? As it turns out, there's a feature in Excel that's been around for quite a while, that can help: Web Queries. The Web Query feature was introduced, ostensibly, to allow Excel to pull data in from Internet Web pages…for example, data in a stock quote history table will come in nicely, as will any data in a Web page that is displayed in an HTML table. To use the feature In Excel 2007 or 2010, click the Data Tab or the ribbon and click the “From Web” button towards the left; in older versions use the corresponding option in the menu or toolbars. Next, paste a URL into the resulting dialog box and tap Enter or click the Go button. A preview of the Web page will come up, and the dialog will allow you to select the specific table within the page whose data you’d like to import. Here’s an example: Now just click the table, click the Import button, and the Import Data dialog appears. You can simply click OK to bring in your data or you can first click the Properties… button and configure the data import to be refreshed at an interval in minutes that you select. Now your data’s in the spreadsheet and ready to worked with: Your data may be vulnerable to modification, but if you’ve set up the data refresh, any accidental or malicious changes will be corrected in time anyway. The thing about this feature is that it’s most useful not for public Web pages, but for pages behind the firewall. In effect, the Web Query feature provides an incredibly easy way to consume data in Excel that’s “published” from an application. Users just need a URL. They don’t need to know server and database names and since the data is read-only, providing credentials may be unnecessary, or can be handled using integrated security. If that’s not good enough, the Web Query can be saved to a special .iqy file, which can be edited to provide POST parameter data. The only requirement is that the data must be provided in an HTML table, with the first row providing the column names. From an ASP.NET project, it couldn’t be easier: a simple bound GridView control is totally compatible. Use a data source control with it, and you don’t even have to write any code. Users can link to pages that are part of an application’s UI, or developers can create pages that are specially designed for the purpose of providing an interface to the Web Query import feature. And none of this is Microsoft- or .NET-specific. You can create pages in any language you want (PHP comes to mind) that output the result set of a query in HTML table format, and then consume that data in a Web Query. Then build PivotTables and charts on the data, and in Excel 2007 or 2010 you can use conditional formatting to create scorecards and dashboards. This strategy allows you to create pages that function quite similarly to the OData XML feeds rendered when .NET developers create an “Astoria” WCF Data Service. And while it’s cool that PowerPivot and Excel 2010 can import such OData feeds, it’s good to know that older versions of Excel can function in a similar fashion, and can consume data produced by virtually any Web development platform. As a final matter, instead of just telling you that “older versions” of Excel support this feature, I’ll be more specific. Ant get task throws "get doesn't support nested resources element" error

Exception using SQLiteDataReader

I'm making a Custom SQLite Wrapper. This is meant to allow a presistent connection to a database. However, I receive an exception when calling this function twice. public Boolean DatabaseConnected(string databasePath) { bool exists = false; if (ConnectionOpen()) { this.Command.CommandText = string.Format(DATABASE_QUERY); using (reader = this.Command.ExecuteReader()) { while (reader.Read()) { if (string.Compare(reader[FILE_NAME_COL_HEADER].ToString(), databasePath, true) == 0) { exists = true; break; } } reader.Close(); } } return exists; } I use the above function to check if the database is currently open before executing a command or trying to open a database. The first time I execute the function, it executes with no issue. After that the reader = this.Command.ExecuteReader() throws an exception Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Creating A Single Generic Handler For Agatha?

I'm using the Agatha request/response library (and StructureMap, as utilized by Agatha 1.0.5.0) for a service layer that I'm prototyping, and one thing I've noticed is the large number of handlers that need to be created. It generally makes sense that any request/response type pair would need their own handler. However, as this scales to a large enterprise environment that's going to be A LOT of handlers. What I've started doing is dividing up the enterprise domain into logical processor classes (dozens of processors instead of many hundreds or possibly eventually thousands handlers). The convention is that each request/response type (all of which inherit from a domain base request/response pair, which inherit from Agatha's) gets exactly one function in a processor somewhere. The generic handler (which inherits from Agatha's RequestHandler) then uses reflection in the Handle method to find the method for the given TREQUEST/TRESPONSE and invoke it. If it can't find one or if it finds more than one, it returns a TRESPONSE containing an error message (messages are standardized in the domain's base response class). The goal here is to allow developers across the enterprise to just concern themselves with writing their request/response types and processor functions in the domain and not have to spend additional overhead creating handler classes which would all do exactly the same thing (pass control to a processor function). However, it seems that I still need to have defined a handler class (albeit empty, since the base handler takes care of everything) for each request/response type pair. Otherwise, the following exception is thrown when dispatching a request to the service: StructureMap Exception Code: 202 No Default Instance defined for PluginFamily Agatha.ServiceLayer.IRequestHandler`1[[TSFG.Domain.DTO.Actions.HelloWorldRequest, TSFG.Domain.DTO, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]], Agatha.ServiceLayer, Version=1.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=6f21cf452a4ffa13 Is there a way that I'm not seeing to tell StructureMap and/or Agatha to always use the base handler class for all request/response type pairs? Or maybe to use Reflection.Emit to generate empty handlers in memory at application start just to satisfy the requirement? I'm not 100% familiar with these libraries and am learning as I go along, but so far my attempts at both those possible approaches have been unsuccessful. Can anybody offer some advice on solving this, or perhaps offer another approach entirely?

Suposing I have a Windows Form with 3 radio buttons to depict some "Mode" options as - Auto Manual Import How can I use boolean properties on Data/Domain Objects to DataBind to these buttons? I have tried many ways but to no avail. For example I would like to code like - rbtnAutoMode.DataBindings.Add("Text", myBusinessObject, "IsAutoMode"); rbtnManualMode.DataBindings.Add("Text", myBusinessObject, "IsManualMode"); rbtnImportMode.DataBindings.Add("Text", myBusinessObject, "IsImportMode"); There should be a fourth property like "SelectedMode" on the data/domain object which at the end should depict a single value like "SelectedMode = Auto". I am trying to update this property when any of the "IsAutoMode", "IsManualMode" or "IsImportMode" is changed, e.g. through the property setters. I have INotifyPropertyChanged implemented on my data/domain object so, updating any data/domain object property automatically updates my UI controls, that's not an issue. There is a simple solution to this issue by exposing a method like - public void SetMode(Modes mode) { this._selectedMode = mode; } which could be called from the "CheckedChanged" event of the Radio Buttons from the UI and would perfectly set the "SelectedMode" on the business object, but I need to stretch the limits to verify whether this can be done by DataBinding.

I used NetBeans to create the resources of RESTful service with MySQL, and now I can now use GET and POST/PUT to list and add/modify data entities in the MySQL server. Currently, I wish to make some calculations right after a client makes the POST activities, then the posted data with calculated results will be inserted into the MySQL database. I'm working on a Django app in which I want to order prints through Shutterfly's Open API: http://www.shutterfly.com/documentation/start.sfly So far I've been able to build the appropriate POSTs and GETs using the modules and suggested code snippets including httplib, httplib2, urllib, urllib2, mimetype, etc. But I'm stuck on the image uploading when placing an order (the ordering process is not the same process as uploading images to albums which I haven't tried.) From what I can tell, I'm supposed to basically create the multipart form data by concatenating the HTTP request body together with the binary data of the image. Uninterruptible Windows Process

Hi Guys, We're starting a new custom project right now from a client and one of the requirements is the process cannot be terminated unless the system is shutting down, restarting, or logging-off. This application monitors the USB interface. We will be using WMI to query the device periodically. The client want's to run the application on Windows XP Operating System and doesn't like installing .NET. So we targeted Visual Basic 6 as our language. My main concern is this application cannot be terminated. Our Project Adviser talks about Anti-virus and yes, some of the anti virus cannot be terminated. I was thinking how to do the same in Visual Basic 6. I know there will be API involved on the project but where should I go? so API is ok with me. I saw some articles that converts the EXE to a SERVICE, create Windows Service in Visual Basic 6, etc. So please .. share your thoughts.

Setting variables in web config for web service consumption

I did a couple google searches about this and am not finding anything, so I thought I'd ask here. I'm working on our internal CMS and I noticed that we're getting live data back when doing debugging because of our web services instead of the dev data that I wanted. It doesn't do this on our dev CMS website, but we're trying to do all our development on localhost. Is there any way to set up an environment variable in our web config for the URL so that the CMS points to the dev database instead of live database that is referenced in the wsdl files?

Designing a service for consumption on multiple mobile platforms

I am building and designing a (mostly) read-only interface to some data. I'll be uing ASP.NET MVC to build a psudo-restful API. I'm wondering if anyone can provide some resources for building full-client applications for various mobile platforms, iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, etc. I'm thinking that serving up XML data is going to be the most simple and universal, but parsing XML in objective-C for example doesn't sound like fun to me, but maybe there are some good libaries out there to help ease this task? In other words, what formt will be the quickest to implement on the client side? Are there any JSON parsrs for iPhone or Android? I know there are .NET JSON parsers, but not sure about other platforms -- is ther another format that might better? Or should I stick with pure XML and deal with it on each platform differently?

How to deploy a number of disparate project types?

The situation is this: I'm developing a product that needs to be deployed to a web server. It consists of 4 website projects, a background service, a couple of command-line tools, and two assemblies shared by all of these components. Now, I also happen to administer the server that this product will be deployed on. So I'm familiar with everything that may need to be done to perform an update: Copy website files Replace the service binary Install updated components in the GAC Configure IIS Update database schema After some research it seems that, to reduce deployment time and to be able to let the other sysadmins handle deployment, I want to deploy all of these as an MSI, except that I don't know a thing about installers. I know VS can generate web deployment projects, but where do I go from there? Being able to simply click Next a few times on an installer is my goal for deploying updates. It would also be nice to modularize it, so for example, I could distribute the four websites among multiple servers and have everything appear as individual components in the installer, and as one entity in Add/Remove Programs. Is all of this too much to ask in a single package?

Cannot execute "LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE" Mysql query in Rails after a connection reconnection

On Rails 2.3.8 (but I think Rails 3 might have this issue as well, not sure): I get an error when trying to execute a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE query after reconnecting to a database. I have a process that parses a file that can potentially take a bit of time. During the parsing, Mysql closes the connection due to timeout. This is fine, I do a ActiveRecord::Base.verify_active_connections! and I get the connection back (I do this in several places through my app). However, running a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE statement, I get this error: Mysql::Error: The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version It's not a permission issue, I know that for sure. It's just this one that giving me the error. I even tested this with a fresh rails app. You'll notice that I am able to do the exact same query before the disconnect. Thanks for the help!

Windows Server TCP Client application in c# Stops working after a while

I am developping an application in C# Net framework 2.0. It is basicly a service application with a tcp client class. Class for Tcp Client Part public TelnetConnection(string Hostname, int Port) { host = Hostname; prt = Port; try { tcpSocket = new TcpClient(Hostname, Port); } catch (Exception e) { //Console.WriteLine(e.Message); } } The application is connecting to the server and revieves update's and more information. It works for about 20 minutes then stops recieving information from the server. -- Server side Client is still connected and the client side its still connected but stops receiving information from the server. I've been searching Stack Overflow and Google but no luck. try { if (!tcpSocket.Connected) return null; StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); do { Parse(sb); System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(TimeOutMs); } while (tcpSocket.Available > 0); return sb.ToString(); } Application works perfect when it runs as console application but when running as service. It just stops.

Starting a new process in a asp.net web service

Could someone help me?

A good approach to db planing for reporting service

The scenario: Big system (~200 tables). 60,000 users. Complex reports that will require me to do multiple queries for each report and even those will be complex queries with inner queries all over the place + some processing in PHP. I have seen an approach, which I am not sure about: Having one centralized, de-normalized, table that registers any activity in the system which is reportable. This table will hold mostly foreign keys, so she should be fairly compact and fast. So, for example (My system is a virtual learning management system), A user enrolls to course, the table stores the user id, date, course id, organization id, activity type (enrollment). Of course I also store this data in a normalized DB, which the actual application uses. Pros I see: easy, maintainable queries and code to process data and fast retrieval. Cons: there is a danger of the de-normalized table to be out of sync with the real DB. Is this approach worth considering, or (preferably from experience) is total $#%#%t?

Hi, I have a SSRS report and using PL/SQL for the dataset creation. My report needs two tables 1 one gives detailed view.(dataset 1) 2 one below that gives a summary table (data should come from the calculations based on the data in 1 table) I am using a temporary table for the dataset one. What are the methods to get calculated result for dataset 2. I wrote 2 procedures for each. since first table is a temporary one i am not getting result for second dataset. Wht can be the options. Can I have multiple dataset outof single procedure please give me and idea. Thanks brijit
