    hi, i write a simple webservice code in asp.net when i build the service and run the service it is working fine. when i try to access the webservice it is giving some problem , problem means i am not getting that method (webservice method). After completing writing the webserivce i take a asp.net page (.aspx) and in solution explorer i add a webservices and it is added successfully. but when i adding namespace it is not getting the service name ( i not able to add the namespace of websercice

  • Silverlight authentication during startup - how to mimic syncronous behavior?

    I have a Silverlight app that is using the MVVM pattern. I have a WCF service which will allow me to authenticate users (I don't have direct control over that service - assume it is a black box that just returns me the user info and a list of privileges the user has). So, when the app starts up, I want to pull security data from that service. Right now, when I do this, my views and view models can end up getting initialized before the service returns with the security data. This causes problems because the view models need to disable buttons and make things visible/invisible based on the user having certain privileges. Is there a pattern that allows me to prevent the initialization of the views / view models until the WCF call has returned? How would you go about solving this problem as elegantly as possible?

  • Should I be relying on WebTests for data validation?

    I have a suite of web tests created for a web service. I use it for testing a particular input method that updates a SQL Database. The web service doesn't have a way to retrieve the data, that's not its purpose, only to update it. I have a validator that validates the response XML that the web service generates for each request. All that works fine. It was suggested by a teammate that I add data validation so that I check the database to see the data after the initial response validator runs and compare it with what was in the input request. We have a number of services and libraries that are separate from the web service I'm testing that I can use to get the data and compare it. The problem is that when I run the web test the data validation always fails even when the request succeeds. I've tried putting the thread to sleep between the response validation and the data validation but to no avail; It always gets the data from before the response validation. I can set a break point and visually see that the data has been updated in the DB, funny thing is when I step through it in debug with the breakpoint it does validate successfully. Before I get too much more into this issue I have to ask; Is this the purpose of web tests? Should I be able to validate data through service calls in this manner or am I asking too much of a web test and the response validation is as far as I should go?

  • Single-port 2600 router with 2900XL switch

    I have a setup, where the single port 2600 router is in port 0/2 in the switch, outside network is on port 0/1, and the rest (0/3-0/24) should be clients for the second network that would be managed by the 2600 router. I configured everything with two VLANs: 100 for outside (0/2-0/24), 200 for inside (0/1-0/2). 0/2 is a trunk port for the two VLANs. The issue that came about is that I can't have two VLANs on at once: software doesn't allow it. Now, I can ping the outside network devices (172.16.7.1, 172.16.7.103), and even google (8.8.8.8) from the router, but not the switch. Devices on connected get a DHCP lease properly but can't ping outside the network, just the router - 172.17.7.1 and the switch itself, 172.17.7.7.   • SMO ManagedComputer.ServiceInstances is empty

    I am trying to use SMO (VS 2010, SQL Server 2008) to connect to SQL Server and view the server protocol configuration. I can connect and list the Services and ClientProtocols as well as the account MSSQLSERVER service is running under. However, the ServerInstances collection is empty. The only instance on the target server is the default (MSSQLSERVER), shouldn't that be in the collection? How can I get an instance of it so I can inspect the ServerProtocols collection?     Hi, I tried to setup a simple project with spring and enunciate+jax-ws/jax-rs annotation, but I didn't get it work.   • "interface not found" in WCF Moniker without registration for excel

    I'm trying to connect excel to a WCF service, but I can't seem to get even a trivial case to work... I get an Invalid Syntax error when I try and create the proxy in excel. I've attached the visual studio debugger to excel, and get that the real error is "interface not found". I know the service works because the test client created by visual studio is ok... so the problem is in the VBA moniker string. I'm hoping to find one of two things: 1) a correction to my moniker string that will make this work, or 2) an existing sample project to download that has the source for both the host and client that does work.   • IoC/DI in the face of winforms and other generated code

    When using dependency injection (DI) and inversion of control (IoC) objects will typically have a constructor that accepts the set of dependencies required for the object to function properly. For example, if I have a form that requires a service to populate a combo box you might see something like this: // my files public interface IDataService { IList<MyData> GetData(); } public interface IComboDataService { IList<MyComboData> GetComboData(); } public partial class PopulatedForm : BaseForm { private IDataService service; public PopulatedForm(IDataService service) { //... InitializeComponent(); } } This works fine at the top level, I just use my IoC container to resolve the dependencies: var form = ioc.Resolve<PopulatedForm>(); But in the face of generated code, this gets harder. In winforms a second file composing the rest of the partial class is generated. This file references other components, such as custom controls, and uses no-args constructors to create such controls: // generated file: PopulatedForm.Designer.cs public partial class PopulatedForm { private void InitializeComponent() { this.customComboBox = new UserCreatedComboBox(); // customComboBox has an IComboDataService dependency } } Since this is generated code, I can't pass in the dependencies and there's no easy way to have my IoC container automatically inject all the dependencies. One solution is to pass in the dependencies of each child component to PopulatedForm even though it may not need them directly, such as with the IComboDataService required by the UserCreatedComboBox. I then have the responsibility to make sure that the dependencies are provided through various properties or setter methods. Then, my PopulatedForm constructor might look as follows: public PopulatedForm(IDataService service, IComboDataService comboDataService) { this.service = service; InitializeComponent(); this.customComboBox.ComboDataService = comboDataService; } Another possible solution is to have the no-args constructor to do the necessary resolution: public class UserCreatedComboBox { private IComboDataService comboDataService; public UserCreatedComboBox() { if (!DesignMode && IoC.Instance != null) { comboDataService = Ioc.Instance.Resolve<IComboDataService>(); } } } Neither solution is particularly good. What patterns and alternatives are available to more capably handle dependency-injection in the face of generated code? I'd love to see both general solutions, such as patterns, and ones specific to C#, Winforms, and Autofac.

  • Space in Directory Parameter of svcutil.exe

    I'm attempting to download metadata for a WCF service using svcutil but I'm running into issues with the /directory:< parameter. The directory I want to save to has a space in it: C:\Service References\Logging so when I execute /t:metadata I receive the following error: Error: The directory 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\References\Logging' could not be found. Verify that the directory exists and that you have the appropriate permissions to read it. It looks to me like the space in "Service References" is causing the issue. From my understanding of command shell (which is very little) spaces act as delimiters for an executable. So I tried escaping the space with a carrot Service^ References and surrounding the path in double quotes "C:\Service References\Logging" but neither of those seem to be working, as the /directory: parameter doesn't recognize them as valid characters in the value. I haven't been able to find any direction in regards to this and svcutil, so I'm at a loss right now. I could download the files to a temp folder and then move them, but I would prefer not to take that approach. I would appreciate any direction that could be given on trying to resolve this.
