• How to make distributed builds using XCode 3.2 on OS X 10.6

  After I upgraded using a clean install from OS X 10.5 to 10.6.2 and upgraded the XCode to 3.2.1 I wasn't able to use distributed builds feature anymore. There are several issues that I detected: In most cases Bonjour is not detecting the other computers even they are on the same switch. I added a custom 'set' where I added manually the IP addreses of each computer. Even so I still get status: "unreachable" on them.BTW, ping does work without problems. Both share my computer for shared workgroup builds (distcc) and distribute builds via shared workgroup builds options are checked.

• Authorization in a more purely OOP style...

  I've never seen this done but I had an idea of doing authorization in a more purely OO way. For each method that requires authorization we associate a delegate. During initialization of the class we wire up the delegates so that they point to the appropriate method (based on the user's rights). For example: class User { private deleteMemberDelegate deleteMember; public StatusMessage DeleteMember(Member member) { if(deleteMember != null) { deleteMember(member); } } //other methods defined similarly... User(string name, string password) //cstor. { //wire up delegates based on user's rights. //Thus we handle authentication and authorization in the same method. } } This way the client code never has to explictly check whether or not a user is in a role, it just calls the method. Of course each method should return a status message so that we know if and why it failed. Thoughts?

• Jquery Delay Function Calls

  I'm trying to find a way to delay all code that takes place after I make a service call. The reason for this delay is that my service returns code necesarry for the following functions and the result I pass is to these following functions is undefined.   Hi there, I'm aware of several question on this forum relating to this. But I'm not talking about splitting tables for the same entity (like user for example) Suppose I have a huge options table that stores list options like Gender, Marital Status, and many more domain specific groups with same structure. I plan to capture in a OPTIONS table.   Hello everyone, I am designing a transportation agency/workflow system, and it including 3 types of people, customer who requests to transport some stuff, drivers who deliver the stuff, and truck manager who manages transport source/destination truck coordination and communicates/organizes drivers. The system is expected to be a web site, and 3 kinds of people could use the web site to submit request, accept request, monitor status of specific stuff transportation, etc. The web site is more like an open agency or a workflow system. I am wondering whether there are any existing technologies, tools or projects (better to be open source, but not a must) which I could build my application faster based on? • How do I start a XUL Runner application maximized?

  I've started developing my first app with XUL and I've run into a problem that I can't seem to solve. All I want to do is have my app start maximized. I've set the sizemode attribute to maximized on my top level window element but that has no effect. My prefs.js file has the following line: pref("toolkit.defaultChromeFeatures", "chrome,centerscreen,menubar,resizable,status,toolbar,scrollbars"); This also does not work. My window appears and it only has a close button (X) and does not have a minimize or maximize button. Any ideas???

• Java Socket Disconnect Reporting vs. C# Disconnection

  in C# when a sockets connection is terminated the other node is informed of this before terminating the link thus the remaning node can update the connection status. in Java when i terminate a communication link the other node keeps reporting the connection as valid. do i need to implement a read cycle (makes sense) that reports the connection as lost when it recieves a -1 during read (in C# this is 0 i think)? thank you for your insight. EDIT: thanks to you both. as i suspected and mentioned in my post that an additional check is required to confirm the connected state of a connection.

• Tag-like autocompletion and caret/cursor movement in contenteditable elements.

  I'm working on a jQuery plugin that will allow you to do @username style tags, like Facebook does in their status update input box. My problem is, that even after hours of researching and experimenting, it seems REALLY hard to simply move the caret. I've managed to inject the <a> tag with someone's name, but placing the caret after it seems like rocket science, specially if it's supposed work in all browsers. And I haven't even looked into replacing the typed @username text with the tag yet, rather than just injecting it as I'm doing right now... lol There's a ton of questions about working with contenteditable here on Stack Overflow, and I think I've read all of them, but they don't really cover properly what I need. So any more information anyone can provide would be great :)

• Why does UMN-Mapserver shows an ERDAS Image-File (.img) as white shape?

The Image contains many layers. • AJAX: Statusbar: force update of UpdatePanel while function executes

  Hi Guys, I have a label inside an update panel which I wouldl ike to use as a status bar. Basically the user clicks a button which executes a main fucntion that performs a series of tasks. I'd like to inform the user as to the state of the function as it progresses e.g.: Stage 1: Retrieving data... Stage 2: Calculating values... Stage 3: Printing values... Stage 4: Done! I've tried updating the updatepanel directly from the function but it only updates the panel at the end of function (stage 4) and shows "Done!" (which I understand is how it should work). I've been looking into timers and threads to try and update the panel seperate to the main function but I thought I'd post here incase anyone has any better ideas? Thanks for any help in advance!   Hello, What are the ways to communicate with a kernel module from user space? By communication i mean sending information and commands between the module and a user space process. I currently know of two way: open/close/read/write/ioctl on published device node. read/write on exported and hooked /proc file. More specifically, can someone advice the best way to communicate with a kernel module that does not actually drives any hardware and therefore should not be littering /dev with stub nodes that exists solely for ioctl calls? I mostly need to check its various status variables and send it a block of data with a request type tag and see if the request succeeded. Inso.

• How do I test how my client program will react to a web server error?

  I have a client program based on LibCurl. I have run into a situation where on some occasions a program on the server runs longer than the configured IIS timeout. IIS then terminates the program and returns a 502 error status to the client. I have added code to the client to capture this issue. Now, I need to find a way to prove that the change will work. I haven't been able to reliably reproduce the issue, so don't have a good test case. Any suggestions?

• Jenkins merge dev branch to master with -Xtheir stategy

  In GIT Plugin, we can merge one branch to other on work space before the starting of Build. However, plugin does not provide -Xtheir strategy. Now i want dev branch to merge on master, validate test cases and if successful then only push back to master. Problem i face is that if there is a merge conflict, i want changes of dev branch to exits (i know i can use -Xtheirs manually). [Like i can check git as Source Code Management, but can;t use its Additional behavior 'Merge Before Build' ] However when i run the required code in Execute Shell Section of Jenkins Job, It does not works as required and fails with error: fatal: dev - not something we can merge Jenkins Job Code is echo Start of Build git checkout dev git checkout master git status git merge dev --no-commit echo End of Build I have also used them with bask -l -c "", but is same problem.

• correct approach to store in database

  I'm developing an online website (using Django and Mysql). I have a Tests table and User table. I have 50 tests within the table and each user completes them at their own pace. How do I store the status of the tests in my DB? One idea that came to my mind is to create an additional column in User table. That column containing testid's separated by comma or any other delimiter. userid | username | testscompleted 1 john 1, 5, 34 2 tom 1, 10, 23, 25 Another idea was to create a seperate table to store userid and testid. • sql server deadlock issue on a single table..................

  I have one table let's say "xxx "in sql server 2000 . One .exe is inserting data into that table "xxx" through sql job. But once data is inserted , one stored procedure is reading the data from that "xxx table "and inserting/updating into other two tables and updating back the status into the same "xxx" table. Now, client says that multiple deadlocks are occuring on that "xxx" table . please kindly anyone sdvice me the resolution steps to be taken to resolve this deadlock issue and how to identify it step by step.............
