  • I need to take the first three letters of a filename and set it into a text file, in a certain fashion. How can I do this?

    Okay, so I need to take the first three letters of a file from a list of files, and place this into a text file in a certain manner. I will provide examples below. Lets say that I have two file names in the same directory, one called cougar.txt and the other bear.txt. These are in the animals directory. I need to take the first three letters of these words, and transpose them into a text file along with the directory, in the following format: BEA = "animals/bear.txt" COU = "animals/cougar.txt" This should happen with any random thing that might be in the list. I'm fairly new to this sort of coding, so I'm not quite sure which language to use, and I'm learning as I go. This new challenge seems fairly daunting to me, and I would be much appreciated if you guys could help. Also, I'm using Windows 7. Been attempting at this all day, to no avail. Preferably done in batch, but if that is impossible I'm open to recommendations.

  • Simplemodal: four times on a page leads to extra "next" or "previous" button

    We are experiencing a problem with each instance of the call to the simplemodal div class .basic-modal-content adding an extra next or previous button in the modal windows. We are using simplemodal in four places on a page using a common JS in the container (provided below) and a common CSS format for the modal windows. In one area we are using six "statements" in a window with a next and previous button. I would include a picture of the modal window but it's being disallowed by the system as I'm a first time poster to this forum. In the other three areas we are using three "biographies" in a similar window with the ability to see each of the three bios from each of modal windows. Everything is working well except one thing: the first six windows have an extra next button that leads to an image of the close widow button only. Similarly, the BIOs pages have extra previous button that leads to the same "close button only" shown above. We want to maintain the same base CSS for the modal windows for this page. We want to keep the JS simple. The only behavior that is bad is the extra previous and next bottons that appear to be spurious. So is this a fix to the JS? Or do I have the instances of the modal windows too entangled? Perhaps there is a better method for having multiple instances of a simplemodal window on the same page?     In my application, i have tried to implement the visibility of tooltip based on the dataGrid Column's text length by using a converter. I am facing some problems in displaying the toolTip text. In the ToolTip, TextBlock's text binding is not working. If its binded with some hard coded strings, it works fine.   • How to handle Append Only text fields in a Sharepoint DataSheet view?

    We've created a Sharepoint site to track a process. Eventually we're going to make a workflow out of it, but in the meantime there's a list we all have to look at which lists the various dates each piece is supposed to be finished. So basically My group needs to see and update columns X, Y, Z and Comments while ignoring the other 30 billion or so columns. Which is great in datasheet view because we can easily view our columns, and update them right there without drilling into the item and browsing through all the other crap we don't need. The problem is the Comments field, in which we really need to see the last actual comment made. Unfortunately whenever anyone saves the record the field is updated with a blank value (unless they entered a comment) and the last actual comment is lost unless you drill into the item. Is there some way to get the Datasheet view to show all the entries? I should also note that I know very little about Sharepoint 2007... so detailed answers would be nice!

So the question how do delete characters from textview.text or re-enable the text view .

  • In Objective C, what's the best way to extract multiple substrings of text around multiple patterns?

    For one NSString, I have N pattern strings. I'd like to extract substrings "around" the pattern matches. So, if i have "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" and my patterns are "brown" and "lazy" i would like to get "quick brown fox" and "the lazy dog." However, the substrings don't necessarily need to be delimited by whitespace. I have a hunch that there's a very easy solution to this, but I admit a disturbing lack of knowledge of Objective C string functions.

  • how to localize a table with multiple text entries?

    Hello, I'm writing a web app which will allow creation of events. An event can have a title as well as a description amongst other things. The app needs to be multilingual. So I have 4 tables for localization: ResourceTypes, ResourceKeys, Resources, and Locales. A resource key can have multiple values in Resources table for different locales. So Resources is a many to many table between ResourceKeys and Locales. So in the event table I want to have a resourceKey for its title as well as a resourceKey for its description. So my question is, is it OK from database-design perspective to have two foreign keys from a table into another table? Has anybody used a better approach in such a scenario?

    If I have a class/object like this #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface anObject : NSObject { NSString *aProp; } @property NSString aProp; @end and in the cellForRowAtIndexPath method i want to assign one of the string values from its properties to a uilabel of a tableviewcell, how do i do it? I've tried this but it doesn't work [[cell topLabel] setText:(NSString *)anObject.aProp]; Putting a breakpoint on the above line and inspecting it, the debugger says "variable is not a CFString Casting the property to a CFString doesnt work Modifying the class and declaring the property as a CFStringRef doesnt work either

  • Single Regex for filtering roman numerals from the text files.

    I am stuck in between of a problem where only one pass of regular expression is allowed( some old hard code). I need the regex for roman numerals. I have tried the standard one i.e. ^(?i)M*(D?C{0,3}|C[DM])(L?X{0,3}|X[LC])(V?I{0,3}|I[VX])$, but the problem is it allows null( '') values also. Is there any way around to check is problem?
