  • Writing a unique identifier to script?

    - by dannycab
I'd like to write a subscript that adds a unique identifier (machine time) to a script everytime that it runs. However, each time I edit the script (in IDLE) the indetifiers are over-written. Is there a elegant way of doing this. The script that I wrote appears below. import os, time f = open('sys_time_append.py','r') lines = f.readlines() f.close() fout = open('sys_time_append.py','w') for thisline in lines: fout.write(thisline) fout.write('\n#'+str(time.time())+' s r\n') fout.close() Thanks for any help.

  • Sharepoint 2010 - Managed KeyWords

    - by Audioillity
Hi, Is it possible to import managed keywords into SharePoint 2010? Where are the keywords stored within which database? Background - I'm currently working on a migration from a legacy system into SharePoint 2010. So far everything is going well, and I can even bring across the managed meta data across along with most other data. The process I use was built for SharePoint 2007 to update Lists over SOAP. With a few manual tweaks I've managed to get the metadata to come across. To bring across either managed metadata or managed keywords I need to know the ID for the existing label/keyword. I have this for the Managed Metadata however not for the Managed Keyword. Currently I create a CSV file to be imported for managed metadata before working out the reverent GUID for the source label. Many Thanks Luke

  • Take advantage of multiple cores executing SQL statements

    - by willvv
I have a small application that reads XML files and inserts the information on a SQL DB. There are ~ 300 000 files to import, each one with ~ 1000 records. I started the application on 20% of the files and it has been running for 18 hours now, I hope I can improve this time for the rest of the files. I'm not using a multi-thread approach, but since the computer I'm running the process on has 4 cores I was thinking on doing it to get some improvement on the performance (although I guess the main problem is the I/O and not only the processing). I was thinking on using the BeginExecutingNonQuery() method on the SqlCommand object I create for each insertion, but I don't know if I should limit the max amount of simultaneous threads (nor I know how to do it). What's your advice to get the best CPU utilization? Thanks

  • What do I put in my Ruby (JRuby) code to break into the debugger?

    - by Daryl Spitzer
I'm familiarizing myself with some JRuby code, and I'd like to be able to place a breakpoint in the code and run (as usual) from the command-line, having it break into the debugger when it gets to that point. Is there something I can put in my code to force JRuby to break into the debugger? I've tried running jruby -r debug foo.rb (instead of the usual jruby foo.rb), and then setting a breakpoint with b bar.py:98, and then continuing. But the debugger stops every time there's an exception, and there seem to be a lot of them before it gets to the line of code I'm interested in. I'd like to be able to put the "break-into-debugger" line(s) in my code and run jruby foo.rb and have the first place the debugger stops be at that line. (i.e. I'm looking for the Ruby/JRuby equivalent of import pdb;pdb.set_trace() in Python.)

  • Is it possibile to modify a link value with Beautifulsoup without recreating the all link?

    - by systempuntoout
Starting from an Html input like this: <p> <a href="http://www.foo.com" rel="nofollow">this is foo</a> <a href="http://www.bar.com" rel="nofollow">this is bar</a> </p> is it possible to modify the <a> node values ("this i foo" and "this is bar") adding the suffix "PARSED" to the value without recreating the all link? The result need to be like this: <p> <a href="http://www.foo.com" rel="nofollow">this is foo_PARSED</a> <a href="http://www.bar.com" rel="nofollow">this is bar_PARSED</a> </p> And code should be something like: from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulSoup soup = BeautifulSoup(html) for link_tag in soup.findAll('a'): link_tag.string = link_tag.string + '_PARSED' #This obviously does not work

  • Embedded Java Databases for Large Data Sets

    - by ExAmerican
I would like to port a PHP/MySQL-based client/server application to be a standalone desktop application written in Java. The database has grown to be fairly large, with several tables with hundreds of thousands of rows. I expect these could grow to over a million entries for certain tables. What embedded database would best handle this? HSQLDB and Sqlite seem to be the obvious choices, though I'm guessing there are others out there as well. My main priorities are the ability to perform queries on large amounts of data efficiently (this thread seems to confirm Sqlite can handle this) and the ease with which I can import old data from MySQL (I remember HSQLDB being kind of a pain for that). Note: I am aware that similar questions comparing embedded databases have been posted before (for example here and here) but as my priorities differ somewhat from most applications considering the large data migration I thought it justified a new question.

  • Jython project in Eclipse can't find the xml module, but works in an identical project

    - by Rob Lourens
I have two projects in Eclipse with Java and Python code, using Jython. Also I'm using PyDev. One project can import and use the xml module just fine, and the other gives the error ImportError: No module named xml. As far as I can tell, all the project properties are set identically. The working project was created from scratch and the other comes from code checked out of an svn repository and put into a new project. What could be the difference? edit- Same for os, btw. It's just missing some path somewhere...

  • Passing a NSString to another ViewController using classes

    - by Jeff Kranenburg
I know this insanely simple, but I am re-teaching myself the basics and trying to get my head around this:-) I have one ViewController called MainVC and I have one called ClassVC In ClassVC I have this code: @interface ClassVC : UIViewController { NSString *mainLine; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *mainLine; @end and I have this in the implementation file: @synthesize mainLine = _mainLine; -(NSString *)_mainLine { _mainLine = @"This a string from a Class"; return _mainLine; } Now I was thinking that if I #import the ClassVC into MainVC I would be able to transfer that string along as well like so: This code is in the viewDidLoad _mainLabel.text = _secondClass.mainLine; NSLog(@"%@", _secondClass.mainLine); But that is not working - so cannot I not pass strings in through this way???

  • How to Export a Table to Excel File at Client Side with JQuery?

    - by kamaci
I use java, jQuery and jsp at my web application. I want to learn that how can I import the values at my table to excel file with JQuery at client side. There are many examples and suggestions even at stackoverflow.com but I saw the solutions as server side as like Apache POI or something like that. There is a datable plug-in: http://www.datatables.net/ at that plug-in it can be done to export the table data into a excel file I think at client side and so I am searching for a solution as like that.

  • Print the next X number of lines in Scala

    - by soulesschild
Trying to learn Scala using the Programming in Scala book and they have a very basic example for reading lines from a file. I'm trying to expand on it and read a file line by line, look for a certain phrase, then print the next 6 lines following that line if it finds the line. I can write the script easily enough in something like java or Perl but I have no idea how to do it in Scala (probably because I'm not very familiar with the language yet...) Here's the semi adapted sample code from the Programming in Scala book, import scala.io.Source if(args.length>0) { val lines = Source.fromFile(args(0)).getLines().toList for(line<-lines) { if(line.contains("secretPhrase")) { println(line) //How to get the next lines here? } } } else Console.err.println("Pleaseenterfilename")

  • Couldn't match expected type - Haskell Code

    - by wvyar
I'm trying to learn Haskell, but the small bit of sample code I tried to write is running into a fairly large amount of "Couldn't match expected type" errors. Can anyone give me some guidance as to what I'm doing wrong/how I should go about this? These are the errors, but I'm not really sure how I should be writing my code. toDoSchedulerSimple.hs:6:14: Couldn't match expected type `[t0]' with actual type `IO String' In the return type of a call of `readFile' In a stmt of a 'do' block: f <- readFile inFile In the expression: do { f <- readFile inFile; lines f } toDoSchedulerSimple.hs:27:9: Couldn't match expected type `[a0]' with actual type `IO ()' In the return type of a call of `putStr' In a stmt of a 'do' block: putStr "Enter task name: " In the expression: do { putStr "Enter task name: "; task <- getLine; return inFileArray : task } toDoSchedulerSimple.hs:34:9: Couldn't match expected type `IO ()' with actual type `[a0]' In a stmt of a 'do' block: putStrLn "Your task is: " ++ (inFileArray !! i) In the expression: do { i <- randomRIO (0, (length inFileArray - 1)); putStrLn "Your task is: " ++ (inFileArray !! i) } In an equation for `getTask': getTask inFileArray = do { i <- randomRIO (0, (length inFileArray - 1)); putStrLn "Your task is: " ++ (inFileArray !! i) } toDoSchedulerSimple.hs:41:9: Couldn't match expected type `[a0]' with actual type `IO ()' In the return type of a call of `putStr' In a stmt of a 'do' block: putStr "Enter the task you would like to end: " In the expression: do { putStr "Enter the task you would like to end: "; task <- getLine; filter (endTaskCheck task) inFileArray } toDoSchedulerSimple.hs:60:53: Couldn't match expected type `IO ()' with actual type `[String] -> IO ()' In a stmt of a 'do' block: schedulerSimpleMain In the expression: do { (getTask inFileArray); schedulerSimpleMain } In a case alternative: "get-task" -> do { (getTask inFileArray); schedulerSimpleMain } This is the code itself. • Change Dll loaded with MEF

    - by Tim
Hi all, I'm using MEF and the System.ComponentModel.Composition.dll to load some dll. I'm doing something like : AggregateCatalog catalog = new AggregateCatalog(new AssemblyCatalog(Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly()), new DirectoryCatalog(directory)); _container = new CompositionContainer(catalog); _container.ComposeParts(this); to import my dll. After some times, I would like to update my dll but if I try to delete it, I have an access denied, because it's alrealdy used by the program. How can I release the dll, replace with a new dll and load the dll again ? (without closing the program) Thanks in advance for your help

  • How to optimize this script

    - by marks34
I have written the following script. It opens a file, reads each line from it splitting by new line character and deleting first character in line. If line exists it's being added to array. Next each element of array is splitted by whitespace, sorted alphabetically and joined again. Every line is printed because script is fired from console and writes everything to file using standard output. I'd like to optimize this code to be more pythonic. Any ideas ? import sys def main(): filename = sys.argv[1] file = open(filename) arr = [] for line in file: line = line[1:].replace("\n", "") if line: arr.append(line) for line in arr: lines = line.split(" ") lines.sort(key=str.lower) line = ''.join(lines) print line if __name__ == '__main__': main()

I am using the following code from this tutorial (http://jeriwieringa.com/blog/2012/11/04/beautiful-soup-tutorial-part-1/). from bs4 import BeautifulSoup soup = BeautifulSoup (open("43rd-congress.html")) final_link = soup.p.a final_link.decompose() trs = soup.find_all('tr') for tr in trs: for link in tr.find_all('a'): fulllink = link.get ('href') print fulllink #print in terminal to verify results tds = tr.find_all("td") try: #we are using "try" because the table is not well formatted. This allows the program to continue after encountering an error. names = str(tds[0].get_text()) # This structure isolate the item by its column in the table and converts it into a string. years = str(tds[1].get_text()) positions = str(tds[2].get_text()) parties = str(tds[3].get_text()) states = str(tds[4].get_text()) congress = tds[5].get_text() except: print "bad tr string" continue #This tells the computer to move on to the next item after it encounters an error print names, years, positions, parties, states, congress However, I get an error saying that 'continue' is not properly in the loop on line 27. I am using notepad++ and windows powershell. How do I make this code work?

  • How to find out how libraries work together?

    - by Eric
I'm tasked to replicate a few functionnalities from an existing application. This application rely on .NET managed assemblies accessible from C#. I can import those DLLs in my new C# project but there is no documentation on how to use them. Yes, this is labeled as an "SDK", but does not contain examples or documentation. Any pointers on how I should procceed? I thought about creating stubs assemblies and monitor their usage by the original application but this involves a lot of code, maybe a tool could do it for me?

  • How do you ensure a mimetype in asp.net?

    - by Sem Dendoncker
Hello, I have the following code to export a zip file: byte[] buffer = FileUtil.FileToByteArray(zipLocation, true); // push the memory data to the client. _ctx.Response.ContentType = "application/zip"; _ctx.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", String.Format("attachment; filename={0}", String.Format("map{0}.zip", mapId))); _ctx.Response.BinaryWrite(buffer); This code works great. After every export I get a perfectly made zipfile. The problem however is that when I try to import it, the mimetype sometimes is "application/empty". Now I wonder how can I ensure that the mimetype is always added? Cheers, M.

  • The return value should be a list but doesn't return as expected?! - Python newbie

    - by user1432941
Hi this must be a very simple solution that has eluded me this last hour. I've tried to build this test function where the return value of the test_cases list should match the values in the test_case_answers list but for some reason, test case 1 and test case 2 fail. When i print the return values for the test cases they return the correct answers, but for some reason test case 1 and test case 2 return False. Thanks for your help! import math test_cases = [1, 9, -3] test_case_answers = [1, 3, 0] def custom_sqrt(num): for i in range(len(test_cases)): if test_cases[i] >= 0: return math.sqrt(test_cases[i]) else: return 0 for i in range(len(test_cases)): if custom_sqrt(test_cases[i]) != test_case_answers[i]: print "Test Case #", i, "failed!" custom_sqrt(test_cases)

  • Can a method return an NSRange?

    - by Dan Donaldson
I have a method that returns an NSRange. When I call this method from outside the class I get a compile error. NSRange tmpRange; tmpRange = [phrase rangeInString:searchString forString:theLetter goingForward:YES]; return tmpRange.location == -1; in the .h file: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface Phrase : NSObject { } - (NSRange) rangeInString:(NSString *) tgt forString:(NSString *) find goingForward:(BOOL) fwd; @end This method is called within the Phrase object by other methods without problems. The compiler says 'incompatible types in assignment'. Can anyone explain this to me? I assume it has to do with returning an NSRange/struct type value generated outside the object, but I don't know why it works in one place and not the other.

  • checking the return code using python (MAC)

    - by cyberbemon
I have written a script that checks if an SVN Repo is up and running, the result is based on the return value. import subprocess url = " validurl" def check_svn_status(): subprocess.call(['svn info'+url],shell=True) def get_status(): subprocess.call('echo $?',shell=True) def main(): check_svn_status() get_status() if __name__ == '__main__': main() The problem I'm facing is that if I change the url to something that does't exist I still get the return value as 0, but if I were to run this outside the script, i.e go to the terminal type svn info wrong url and then do a echo $? I get a return value of 1. But I can't re-create this in the python. Any guidelines ?

Take the simplest case -- I run celeryd: python manage.py celeryd The daemon starts and I try to run a ping: >>> from celery.task.control import ping >>> ping() [] I can see the message that ping created appear in the database, but apparently none of the nodes are picking it up? Am I doing something wrong here? Does broadcast not work with carrot?
