Opening images sorted by modification date/size/type/etc.

Suppose I have a folder with pictures in them. If I sort them by name once I open one with Image Viewer and navigate to the others the order is respected. But if I sort my files by modification date, for example, I can't do that. Basically, the default Image Viewer only lets you navigate images by name. According to this post on the ubuntuforums this has been an issue since 2007! Is there a good/easy way to fix it? Seems like such a trivial thing to me.

Application Lifecycle Management with Visual Studio 2010 – Wrox Book

After running with a somewhat disconnected set of tools (vs 2008, Ontime, sharepoint 2007) for managing our projects we decided to make the move to Team Foundation Server 2010. With limited coverage of the product available online i went in search of a book and found this… View this book on the Wrox website I must point out that i have only read 10 of the 26 chapters so far, mainly the ones that cover source code control, work item tracking and database projects. This enables our dev team to get familiar with it before switching project management over at a future date. Needless to say i am very impressed with the detail it provides, answering pretty much every question i had about TFS so far. I'm looking forward to digging into the sections on testing, code analysis and architecture. Highly recommended.

Integrating Dynamics CMS with Sharepoint ASCX SecurityException Issue

Hi, I've an ASCX control (WebParts aren't used in this solution) which interrogates CMS 4's data via the API provided by Microsoft.Crm.Sdk and Microsoft.Crm.SdkTypeProxy. The solution works until it's deployed to Sharepoint. How do I read 64-bit Registry values from VBScript running as a an msi post-installation task?

I need to read the location of the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder from VBScript as part of a post-installation task in an installer created using a Visual Studio 2008 deployment project. I thought I would do something like this: Set oShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell") strPath = oShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ASP.NET\2.0.50727.0\Path") and then concatenate strPath with "\Temporary ASP.NET Files" and be done with it. On an x64 system, however, I am getting the value from the WOW6432Node (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ASP.NET\2.0.50727.0), which gives me the 32-bit framework path (C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727), but on an x64 system, I actually want the 64-bit path, i.e. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727. I understand that this happens because the .vbs file is run using the 32-bit script host due to the parent process (the installer) being 32-bit itself. How can I run the script using the 64-bit script host - or - how can I read the 64-bit values even if the script is run using the 32-bit script host?

SMO restore of SQL database doesn't overwrite

I'm trying to restore a database from a backup file using SMO. If the database does not already exist then it works fine. However, if the database already exists then I get no errors, but the database is not overwritten. The "restore" process still takes just as long, so it looks like it's working and doing a restore, but in the end the database has not changed. I'm doing this in Powershell using SMO. The code is a bit long, but I've included it below. You'll notice that I do set $restore.ReplaceDatabase = $true. Also, I use a try-catch block and report on any errors (I hope), but none are returned. Any obvious mistakes? Is it possible that I'm not reporting some error and it's being hidden from me? WebForms web site upon first launch from VS2008 throws this exception on my dev machine, after clicking continue everything works. Also, everything works on server when deployed. Web Deployment Projects for VS2010 on build server failing with Error MSB4086

When I upgraded my Web Deployment Project from VS2008 to the VS2010 beta version, I was able to execute the build locally on my development box. However, when I tried to execute the build on our TeamCity build server, I began getting the following exception: C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WebDeployment\v10.0\Microsoft.WebDeployment.targets(162, 37): error MSB4086: A numeric comparison was attempted on "$(_SourceWebProjectPath.Length)" that evaluates to "" instead of a number, in condition "'$(_SourceWebProjectPath)' != '' And $(_SourceWebProjectPath.Length) >= 4)". I did install the Web Deployment Project addin on my build server and I did copy over the C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications directory on my development box to the C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\ directory on the build server. Note: My dev box is 64bit and the build server 32bit. I can't figure out why this is behaving differently on the build server than on my dev machine. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Steve

So, how big can your SharePoint 2010 installation be? There are three kinds of limits you should know about Hard limits that cannot be exceeded by design. Configurable that are, well configurable – but the default values are set for a pretty good reason, so if you need to tweak, plan and understand before you tweak. Soft limits, you can exceed them, but it is not recommended that you do. Before you read any of the limits, read these two important disclaimers - 1. The limit depends on what you’re doing. So, don’t take the below as gospel, the reality depends on your situation. 2. There are many additional considerations in planning your SharePoint solution scalability and performance, besides just the below. So with those in mind, here goes. Get an error when trying to set the build version with the AssemblyInfo Task

I've added the AssemblyInfo Task reference to my C# project file (VS2008 .NET 3.5), but when I build I get the following error The "AssemblyInfo" task failed unexpectedly. System.ArgumentException: version Parameter name: The specified string is not a valid version number at Microsoft.Build.Extras.Version.ParseVersion(String version) at Microsoft.Build.Extras.AssemblyInfo.Execute() at Microsoft.Build.BuildEngine.TaskEngine.ExecuteInstantiatedTask(EngineProxy engineProxy, ItemBucket bucket, TaskExecutionMode howToExecuteTask, ITask task, Boolean& taskResult) My assemblyinfo file has these two attributes: [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.0.0")] [assembly: AssemblyFileVersion("1.0.0.0")]

Buzzfeed reports on some of the toys of holidays past that were quickly pulled off the shelves. In regard to the nuclear kit pictured here, they write: Only available from 1951–1952, this science kit for CHILDREN included four types of uranium ore, a Geiger counter, a comic called Dagwood Spits the Atom, and a coupon for ordering MORE radioactive materials.
