• iPhone:How to make an integer array and store values in Obj-C?

  Hi, I want to know a simple thing, which i couldn't get it is that i want to store 10 values in an integer array dynamically and then i have to check that stored values and compared with the current values whether it is same or not in some other condition. Initially i tried same like C array, int temp[10], but seems to be that is not possible to set and get method, then i tried NSNumber like below, In AppDelagate file, NSMutableArray *reqID; @property (nonatomic,readwrite) NSMutableArray * reqID; @synthesize reqID; ........................ ........................ ........................ In Some other file, int rd = (1+arc4random() % [arr count]); [myDelagate.reqID addObject:[NSNumber numberWithUnsignedInteger:rd]]; then i need to check, for (int i=0; i<10; i++) { NSUInteger anInt = [[amyDelagate.reqID objectAtIndex:i] unsignedIntegerValue]; if ( anInt==rd ) { rd = (1+arc4random() % [arr count]); break; } } [myDelagate.reqID addObject:[NSNumber numberWithUnsignedInteger:rd]]; But it doesn' work as expected, i.e array value doesn't give proper value. i don't know how to use integer array in Obj-C and handle it to access later etc. Could someone please explian me?

• Making REST request using LWP::Simple

  I am trying to use LWP::Simple to make a GET request to a REST service. Here's the simple code: use LWP::Simple; $uri = "http://api.stackoverflow.com/0.8/questions/tagged/php"; $jsonresponse= get $uri; print $jsonresponse; On my local machine, running Ubuntu 10.4, and Perl version 5.10.1: farhan@farhan-lnx:~$ perl --version This is perl, v5.10.1 (*) built for x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi I can get the correct response and have it printed on the screen. E.g.: farhan@farhan-lnx:~$ head -10 output.txt { "total": 1000, "page": 1, "pagesize": 30, "questions": [ { "tags": [ "php", "arrays", "coding-style" (... snipped ...) But on my host's machine to which I SSH into, I get garbage printed on the screen for the same exact code. I am assuming it has something to do with the encoding, but the REST service does not return the character set type in the response, so how do I force LWP::Simple to use the correct encoding? • How do I debug a crash when I run my garbage-collected app in Rosetta?

  I have a Universal app which is targeting 10.5 and which uses garbage collection. I am building for ppc, i386 and x86_64. I don't have access to a physical PowerPC machine so I am trying to use Rosetta to confirm that the PowerPC portion of the app works correctly. • Internet Explorer 8 timeout too quick on page POSTs

  We have an asp.net site running, which has been working fine for some time, but recently I have been experiencing some issues with IE8. On posting some pages - mainly on our development server, although on staging too - we get an occasional "Internet Explore cannot display the webpage" error along with the button asking to diagnose connection problems. IE only seems to wait 10 seconds before timing out. I know that the page itself may take longer to load the first time (on dev and staging). So press F5 and everything then works fine. Is there anything that should be done in the aspx page to tell IE to wait a bit longer? I thought I had read that the default timeout supposed to be 90 seconds or something for browsers. A bit more info: It mostly happens on a POSTing a signup page, but that is just because I test that page and it starts the IIS App, makes the first connection to SQL and pre-caches some information. That first time the page can take 10-15 seconds to come back. IE8 times out after 10 seconds as it has had nothing back. This happens on a dev W7x64 machine with 8GB RAM, as well as on a staging server WIN2008. Having googled around a bit, some people are seeing the same problem, but no conclusive pointers to the problem or a solution. It isn't a connection problem; everything works fine in Firefox, Chrome and even IE7; I have tried with add-ons disabled and resetting IE settings, still happens. Ideas welcome.

• OpenGL-ES Texture Atlas. t axis is inverted.

  I'm mapping a texture from my texture atlas to a square on a cube. For some reason, the t axis is inverted with 0 being at the top and 1 being at the bottom. Also, I have to specify the texture coordinates in clockwise order rather than counter-clockwise. I am using counter-clockwise windings. • SQL 2005 indexed queries slower than unindexed queries

  Adding a seemingly perfectly index is having an unexpectedly adverse affect on a query performance... -- [Data] has a predictable structure and a simple clustered index of the primary key: ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Data] ADD PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [ID] ) -- My query, joins on itself looking for a certain kind of "overlapping" records SELECT DISTINCT [Data].ID AS [ID] FROM dbo.[Data] AS [Data] JOIN dbo.[Data] AS [Compared] ON [Data].[A] = [Compared].[A] AND [Data].[B] = [Compared].[B] AND [Data].[C] = [Compared].[C] AND ([Data].[D] = [Compared].[D] OR [Data].[E] = [Compared].[E]) AND [Data].[F] <> [Compared].[F] WHERE 1=1 AND [Data].[A] = @A AND @CS <= [Data].[C] AND [Data].[C] < @CE -- Between a range [Data] has about a quarter-million records so far, 10% to 50% of the data satisfies the where clause depending on @A, @CS, and @CE. As is, the query takes 1 second to return about 300 rows when querying 10%, and 30 seconds to return 3000 rows when querying 50% of the data. Curiously, the estimated/actual execution plan indicates two parallel Clustered Index Scans, but the clustered index is only of the ID, which isn't part of the conditions of the query, only the output. ?? If I add this hand-crafted [IDX_A_B_C_D_E_F] index which I fully expected to improve performance, the query slows down by a factor of 8 (8 seconds for 10% & 4 minutes for 50%). The estimated/actual execution plans show an Index Seek, which seems like the right thing to be doing, but why so slow?? CREATE UNIQUE INDEX [IDX_A_B_C_D_E_F] ON [dbo].[Data] ([A], [B], [C], [D], [E], [F]) INCLUDE ([ID], [X], [Y], [Z]); The Data Engine Tuning wizard suggests a similar index with no noticeable difference in performance from this one. Moving AND [Data].[F] <> [Compared].[F] from the join condition to the where clause makes no difference in performance. I need these and other indexes for other queries. I'm sure I could hint that the query should refer to the Clustered Index, since that's currently winning - but we all know it is not as optimized as it could be, and without a proper index, I can expect the performance will get much worse with additional data. What gives?

  I have a DataTemplate which contains a CheckBox and ListBox. When the CheckBox is checked, I want to change the ItemTemplate property on the ListBox to change the appearance of each item. • Sharing large objects between ruby processes without a performance hit

  I have a Ruby hash that reaches approximately 10 megabytes if written to a file using Marshal.dump. After gzip compression it is approximately 500 kilobytes. Iterating through and altering this hash is very fast in ruby (fractions of a millisecond). Even copying it is extremely fast. The problem is that I need to share the data in this hash between Ruby on Rails processes. In order to do this using the Rails cache (file_store or memcached) I need to Marshal.dump the file first, however this incurs a 1000 millisecond delay when serializing the file and a 400 millisecond delay when serializing it. Ideally I would want to be able to save and load this hash from each process in under 100 milliseconds. One idea is to spawn a new Ruby process to hold this hash that provides an API to the other processes to modify or process the data within it, but I want to avoid doing this unless I'm certain that there are no other ways to share this object quickly. Is there a way I can more directly share this hash between processes without needing to serialize or deserialize it?   Please don't crucify me for this one. I decided it might be good to use a char* because the string I intended to build was of a known size. I am also aware that if timeinfo-tm_hour returns something other than 2 digits, things are going to go badly wrong. • Google Radar Chart: Not plotting data

  Hi. I have different types of data that I have normalized just with base10, so everything is on a 10 point scale. There are two data points, and the legend for them show up fine. All the points around the radar show up fine and so do the labels for them, but I don't see any filled in data. Outside of the labels and axis, the chart is blank. Below is the actual image tag I render, then I split up the variables on each line for easy readability. • Play multiple audio files using AVAudioPlayer

  Hi all, I am planning on releasing 10 of my song recordings for free but bundled in an iphone app. They are not available on web or itunes or anywhere as of now. I am new to iphone sdk (latest) as you can imagine, so I have been going through the developer documentation, various forums and stackoverflow to learn. Apple's avTouch sample application was a great start. But I want my app to play all the 10 tracks one by one. All the songs are added to resources folder and are named as track1, track2...track10. In the avTouch app code I can see the following 2 parts which is where I think I need to make changes to achieve what I am looking for. Also thought about using more dynamic SQL and applying the formulas by name, basically. Any other tricks, techniques or tactics to keeping these kinds of formulae which need to be applied at different levels in sync and/or organized?

• SQL Server: A Grouping question that's annoying me

  I've been working with SQL Server for the better part of a decade, and this grouping (or partitioning, or ranking...I'm not sure what the answer is!) one has me stumped. Feels like it should be an easy one, too. I'll generalize my problem: Let's say I have 3 employees (don't worry about them quitting or anything...there's always 3), and I keep up with how I distribute their salaries on a monthly basis. Month Employee PercentOfTotal -------------------------------- 1 Alice 25% 1 Barbara 65% 1 Claire 10% 2 Alice 25% 2 Barbara 50% 2 Claire 25% 3 Alice 25% 3 Barbara 65% 3 Claire 10% As you can see, I've paid them the same percent in Months 1 and 3, but in Month 2, I've given Alice the same 25%, but Barbara got 50% and Claire got 25%. What I want to know is all the distinct distributions I've ever given. In this case there would be two -- one for months 1 and 3, and one for month 2. I'd expect the results to look something like this (NOTE: the ID, or sequencer, or whatever, doesn't matter) ID Employee PercentOfTotal -------------------------------- X Alice 25% X Barbara 65% X Claire 10% Y Alice 25% Y Barbara 50% Y Claire 25% Seems easy, right? I'm stumped! Anyone have an elegant solution? I just put together this solution while writing this question, which seems to work, but I'm wondering if there's a better way.
