• Bad request - Invalid Hostname Error when using ARR IP address

  I'm trying to setup a simple ARR system. I have 1 ARR machine load balancing between 2 APP servers. I can reach the app sites if i use the server name of the ARR machine. (http://arrserver/app) But i can't do it with its IP address. (http://10.7.10.25/app). It gives the "Bad Request - Invalid Hostname". In the ARR machine i configured the default site's bindings to "All Unassigned","80" (default values). Do i need to change the binding rule or need additional url rewrite rules? And also, in the ARR server http://127.0.0.1/app doesn't work. But http://localhost/app works fine. Thx in advance

• Remote Desktop fails with no error

  Recently, I've been having problems connecting to a remote machine via RDP. I can connect fine exactly once, but all subsequent attempts fail until the remote machine is rebooted. I seem to authenticate properly, but the RDP logon dialog disappears after showing, "Configuring remote session..." for a few seconds. No errors or other useful info is written either to my screen or the Event Logs of the two machines involved. I've tried disabling remote sound as others have suggested, with no success. I'm still investigating a solution, but would appreciate any thoughts. Fortunately, I can reboot the box remotely w/o causing any problems, but this is a less than ideal workaround.

• Getting 404 error on MVC web-site

  I have an IIS7.5 web-site, on Windows Server 2008, with an ASP.NET MVC2 web-site deployed to it. The website was built in Visual Studio 2008, targeting .NET 3.5, and IIS 5.1 has been successfully configured to run it as well, for local testing. We've installed the world's simplest MVC application (the one which is created when you create a new MVC2 project in Visual Studio), and we are getting 404s on any page we try and access - e.g. <my_server>/Home/About will generate a 404. I've asked this question on StackOverflow as well, but that was before I knew it was a server issue. I have checked the following things: There are 404 entries in the IIS log, corresponding to each request. The application pool for the web-site is set to use the Integrated pipeline. The "customErrors" mode is set to off. .NET 3.5 SP1 is installed ASP.NET MVC 2 is installed I've used MVC Diagnostics to confirm all MVC DLLs are being found. ASP.NET is enabled in IIS, which we've demonstrated by running the MVC Diagnostics page. KB 2023146 did highlight that HTTP Redirection was off, so we've turned it on, but no joy. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Someone did suggest that there might be problems running it caused by Windows Server 2008 being 64-bit - does anyone know anything about this?

• Varnish does not start properly (crashes after startup) with no error messages

  I am running Varnish (2.0.4 from the Ubuntu unstable apt repository, though I have also used the standard repository) in a test environment (Virtual Machines) on Ubuntu 9.10, soon to be 10.04. When I have a working configuration and the server starts successfully it seems like everything is fine, however if, for whatever reason, I stop and then restart the varnish daemon it doesn't always startup properly, and there are no errors going into syslog or messages to indicate what might be wrong. If I run varnish in debug mode (-d) and issue start when prompted then 7 times out of time it will run, but occasionally it will just shut down 'silently'.   I am setting OpenVPN up, and I'm in the state of adding users. Details: Host System: Windows Server 2003 32-bit. Guest System: Ubuntu Linux (with OpenVPN installed already), actually I downloaded it from OpenVPN.Net. Virtualization: VMWare v7.0 Problem: I can access the Access Server web portal (on the port 5480), but when I login to http://host_ip:943/admin and enter my (correct) login info, it shows me a page saying that "You don't have enough permissions". I am the (root) user!!!! that is really weird!!! Note: if I enter wrong login it will denote an incorrect login, this means that I am logging in successfully but the problem comes after the login process. What I tried: I tried to create another user after (root) logging in to Linux Bash using (useradd) command, but the same resulted.

• “NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON” error in Windows 7 (ASP.NET & Web Service)

  I have an asp.net web app which works fine in Windows XP machine in a domain. I am porting it to a Windows 7 stand alone machine. The app uses a web service which makes a call to sql server. The web server (IIS 7.5) and SQL Server are on the same stand alone machine. I enabled Windows authentication for the website and web service. The web service uses a trusted connection connection string. The web service credentials uses System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials. I noticed username, password and domainname are blank after the call! The webservice and web site use the 'Classic .NET AppPool' with NetworkServices identity. I am getting an exception "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" in the database call in the web service. I am assuming it's related to the blank credentials. I am expecting ASPNET user to be the security token to the database. Why is this not happening? Did I miss a setting? (Usually this happens when sql server and web server are on two different machines in a domain, delegation & double hopping, but in my case everything is on a dev box)

• Creative software leftovers - ASIO error message

  I temporarily installed an old Creative Audigy 2 soundboard on my Vista x64 Home Premium computer. Bad idea! I uninstalled the board & all software visible on the control panel. Now, with one particular app. (Sibelius) I keep getting a start-up message "CTASIO Warning: Creative ASIO: there are no Creative audio products installed on the system that support ASIO". I offer this as a candidate for "Most useless message", but that's beside the point. I used a commercial registry cleaner (PC-Tools Registry Mechanic) and then edited the registry looking for "creative", "audigy" and "ASIO". After removing everything I could find, I still get the message. Any suggestions?

• Opening Python in CMD (Unfixable Error)

  I recently tried opening one of my Python projects with CMD to see what would happen. The result did nothing amazing, but Windows 7 thought I wanted to open .py files in CMD all the time. I have tried everything, setting it back to python.exe does not work, I even went to Control Panel to see if it could help, but Control Panel couldn't help either. • SQL 2008 R2 replication error: The process could not connect to Distributor

  I have two servers running SQL 2008 R2 Standard, each with an instance named "MAIN". I have a small test database on my primary server (one table, 13 rows) that I want to replicate to a second server as a proof-of-concept for some larger databases that I want to replicate. I set up the primary server to be a publisher and distributor, and set the database to do transactional replication. I copied the data to the second server via a backup/restore, not via a snapshot (which I'll have to do with the larger databases due to database size and limited bandwidth). I followed the instructions here: http://gnawgnu.blogspot.com/2009/11/sql-2008-transactional-replication-and.html Now on the subscriber, I go under Replication / Local Subscriptions / Right click / Properties on my subscription to the DB. The status of the last synchronization shows a status of: "The process could not connect to Distributor 'PRIMARYSERVER\MAIN'." Data IS replicating from the primary to the secondary. Any record I add on the primary shows up on the secondary server within seconds. Is the Distributor part of the Snapshot system that I'm not using, or is it part of the transaction replication stuff? • Automated Syslog Error Solution Finder

  Any automated syslog solution finding frameworks? I want my central syslog server to email a list of problems, their severity and suggested solutions. There have been several questions about centralising system logs and alternative log analysis systems, but I don't get the impression that any of them help with issue resolution. A little background: At work I am now literally doing the work of two people, and both jobs have expanded beyond their initial frameworks. It is not so bad as I have helpers, but they are little more than smart monkeys. While one of my predecessors [I have two, that is how I know I have the jobs of two people] set-up logwatch to email its results out, my monkeys don't have the skills necessary to identify unimportant data. This has caused all of them, and myself sadly, to setup email filters and ignore the whole thing until something goes "bang". It would be handy to have someone else tell them what is important, what is connected, and to suggest a few ways to resolve the issue (I could train then to research the solution first, ha!). My reading of the Splunk and Octopussy sites indicates that I still need to bring my own highly trained monkey to the party. Which I am several years from having.

• "PHP Error" when running PHPUnit tests from within Komodo IDE.

  I am using the latest version of the Komodo IDE, PEAR and PHPUnit with PHP version 5.3.0. When I run the unit tests for my Komodo project the tests run correctly, but regardless of whether there are any tests to run or not I get shown the error: --------------------------- PHP Error --------------------------- parse error in Unknown on line 7 --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Everything works fine despite this error but it is irritating to see every time I run my tests. Furthermore, running the unit tests from the command line does not trigger any kind of error, suggesting that this is a problem with Komodo. How can I fix the error or, at the very least, stop it from showing up.

• Error When Trying to Exchange Encrypted Emails with Sender Outside Domain

  I have an end user who is trying to exchange encrypted messages with a person outside of our company domain. When receiving emails from the user they receive a message that says: Signed By: (There were errors displaying the signers of this message, click on the signature icon for more details.) However, when you click on the signature icon it says: The digital signature on this message is Valid and Trusted. Then when you look at the "Message Security Properties" it shows two layers, each with a green checkmark beside them. The layers are presented as below: Subject: Digital Signature Layer It also has: Description: OK: Signed message The end result with all of this is that when the user on my side tries to send this user an encrypted message it says: Microsoft Outlook had problems encrypting this message because the following recipients had missing or invalid certificates, or conflicting or unsupported encryption capabilities: Continue will encrypt and send the message but the listed recipients may not be able to read it. However, the only options you are actually given is "Send Unencrypted" and "CanceL" (Continue is grayed out). If anybody can assist I would greatly appreciate it!

• Cron Jobs unable to deliver email error report

  I am sure I have right syntax and I am still unable to receive report emails to my email address. My OS is CentOS 6.4. My Crontab script is MAILTO="[email protected]" * * * * * /usr/bin/php5 /home/myusername/public_html/cron.php /post/find_submit_test/1/ Email address [email protected] is working fine and I tested sendmail from ssh which is too working fine but cron reports are unable to be delivered. I checked WHM for notification settings couldn't even find anything relevant there. Please advice me how to fix this. Thanks

• startx error no desktop manager

  I have Backtrack 5R2 KDE. I started recovery mode and did a failsafe xorg configuration. After that, I cannot load the KDE manager when I enter the startx command after logging in. Whenever I do a startx command (as root), the result resembles the following: This is not the actual output (I just drew this with MS paint because I cannot do a printscreen). The screen is just black with the icon in the upper left corner. The other pop-up menu appears when left-clicking the mouse. I tried the cp xorg.conf.failsafe xorg.conf advice from other websites with no luck. I have also tried the 'reconfigure option(s)' form the recovery mode with no success.

• Symfony sfControlPanel 500 error only when executing 'tasks'

  As a bit of background, I recently had to restore a Symfony site from backup. Ever since the 'successful' restore, I am running into an exception when trying to execute a(ny) task via the web-based sfControlPanel: Unable to find PHP executable stack trace * at sfToolkit::getPhpCli() in SF_ROOT_DIR/plugins/sfControlPanelPlugin/modules/sfControlPanel/actions/actions.class.php line 93 FYI: symfony version 1.0.6 PHP 5.2.6 (cli) (built: May 2 2008 16:06:40) Apache/2.2.3 CentOS 5.* Thank you very much for any and all suggestions as to what might be amiss. Addendum: I neglected to mention that I can the frontend app (and certain backend apps) perfectly fine via the web. I am also able to run common tasks via the command line (cc etc.).

• Run disk error check on NTFS file?

  I have a feeling that my system hard drive is dying. Benchmark kind of enforces it. Here is the benchmark of my system hard drive during low system activity: And here is the benchmark of backup drive: Furthermore, there are some files which I just can't touch because I get CRC errors and the hard drive activity spikes to 100% with operating speeds less than 1 MB/s while working with such files. I haven't yet tried swapping SATA cable as I have read this might cause the problems. Anyway, I would like to run some tests on specific clustsers where those files I am interested in are stored. I don't want to do the full chkdsk because it takes a very long time. I would like to either find the utility which executes the disk check directly on the clusters where the file belongs or a couple utilities where one tells me the cluster locations and another can check just those locations. How do I check and possibly fix disk errors where the files I am interested in are stored? Edit: S.M.A.R.T. info:
