  • Eclipse javascript character encoding

    Hi, I'd like to display some language specific characters from javascript but I can't. My app is a Java webapp and the front end is jQuery. All the characters that are sended from the server - in a JSP or with AJAX - are displayed properly. When I want to display some text hardcoded in to the javascript file it's broken. I'm using Eclipse. In the JSP's header I use: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> I've tried this (charset in the script element) too: <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"><c:import url="/JS/mainJS.js" /></script> In my Eclipse I've set the project properties / text file encoding to UTF-8 AND I've checked the JS files' resource properties / text file encoding that is UTF-8 too.   • get data from gridview without querying database

    Hi there I am new at this so please bear with me... I have managed to get the following code to work...so when I click on the "select" link in each row of the gridview, the data is transfered to other label/textbox on the webpage. So far so good, the thing is that everytime I click on select...it goes and checks on the database for the data and there is a delay of a few seconds... I was hoping that the data, since it is already visible on the gridrows, is simply "picked up" and used on other labels/textboxes...without requerying the database. Is this possible ? Writing code that takes the text, splits it by whitespace or newlines or something, then processes each line and has a dictionary for variables. Or writing code that takes text and converts it to another programming language. I'm trying to use lxml cleaner to clean out a couple of html pages, so in the end i am just left with the text and nothing else - but try as i might, the above doesnt appear to work as such, i'm still left with a substial amount of markup (and it doesnt appear to be broken html), and particularly links, which aren't getting removed, despite the args i use in remove_tags and links=True any idea whats going on, perhaps im barking up the wrong tree with lxml ? i thought this was the way to go with html parsing in python?

    I have a bunch of PDF files that came from scanned documents. The files contain a mix of images and text. Some were scanned as images with no OCR, so each PDF page is one large image, even where the whole page is entirely text. Others were scanned with OCR and contain images and searchable text where text is present. In many cases even words in the images were made searchable. I want to make an automated process to recognize the text in all of the scanned documents using OCR, with Acrobat 8 Pro, but I don't want to re-OCR the files that have already been through the OCR process in the past. Does anyone know if there is a way to tell which ones contain only images, and which ones already contain searchable text? I'm planning on doing this in C# or VB.NET but I don't think being able to tell the two kinds of files apart is language dependent.

But the cursor position always creates a problem when the size of the text is not equal to the size of the rendered text as shape. Can anyone please show the way to achieve this.

  • Ubuntu - Is there a way to associate keyboard shortcuts to bring a window to front?

    I am using exactly 3 programs: - a browser - a terminal - a code editor I keep all in fullscreen windows. What I need is to be able to bring any one of them up with a simple keyboard shortcut, like Ctrl+Alt+B for browser, etc. Alt-Tab sucks because I have to stop and see where the selector is. Using 3 workspaces is better but still not ideal - I need to think about where I am and where I need to go. E.g. My browser is on top of my terminal and my code editor is to the right of the terminal. So to move from browser to terminal I use Ctrl+Alt+Down, but to move from code editor to terminal I have to do Ctrl+Alt+Left. Instead I should just do Ctrl+Alt+T for terminal, for example. Thanks!

I can't find any way to shrink it to the correct size - the clientHeight value comes back as the full size of the textarea, not its contents. The code from that page is below. This works very well on all major browsers but not in safari. I tried it even with out jquery, but didn't work. When the focus falls on search text field, I have another jQuery function, is that the problem.     I am trying to create a table to only has a foreign key, not a primary key. I am getting this error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: column '_id' does not exist I read a tutorial that the primary key must be _id, with no explanation. And that is fine. But what if I do not want a primary key! What if I only want a foreign key. I am assuming this is where my problem lies. The schemas below are what I have. He spent many years as a VP & Fellow at Sun Microsystems. He has built satellite data acquisition systems, a multiprocessor version of Unix, several compilers, mail systems and window managers. He has also built a WYSIWYG text editor, a constraint based drawing editor and a text editor called `Emacs' for Unix systems. At Sun his early activity was as lead engineer of the NeWS window system. He did the original design of the Java programming language and implemented its original compiler and virtual machine. He has been a contributor to the Real-Time Specification for Java, and a researcher at Sun labs where his primary interest was software development tools.     He then was the Chief Technology Officer of Sun's Developer Products Group and the CTO of Sun's Client Software Group.   • How to keep word document, html and pdf documentation aligned

    Is there a way to write documentation in a WYSIWYG editor which can then export into HTML, WORD and PDF and keep copies synchronized? This documentation are mostly technical notes and some contextual help for some softwares so they must contain images and some styling, they are not programmer's documentation (API list or functions list) for which probably a program like Javadoc or Doxygen would be the best choice. For example how do companies with hundreds different software lines and thousands of programmers deal with this? I have several solutions but they all seem lacking in some aspect: Latex/Tex : very good pdf and html export, not very user friendly and no full-blown WYSIWYG editor available. LibreOffice/OpenOffice : full blown WYSIWYG editor however html export not so good (need to edit manually exported html which needs to be maintained separately ) Mediawiki or any other wiki : could be keeping documentation in wikitext format, so html is automatically generated, pdf exportation is quite good with many available plugins. Again however need some formation for the staff to use it and need to setup a server for this. Notice I'm not asking for software A vs software B, I'm asking for general advice, big companies procedures for documentation and yes some software product names if available.

  • Pointer position way off in Java Application menu's when using gnome-shell

    When using any java application in gnome-shell if the window is maximised the pointer position is way off; but only on the menu's, in the editor, or the side panel, the pointer is fine. This only presents itself when the window is maximized, and it seems that the further away from 0x0 the window is when you maximise it, the bigger the pointer offset. From what I have gathered it has to do with the window not updating it's size when it gets maximised. The other issue is that when a gnome-shell notification appears, when clicking on it, I lose the ability to type in the editor, I can select text etc, but can't give it focus to type. I must bring up some other text input (e.g. right click on a file on the left, select rename, which brings up a rename dialog) after that I can type in the editor again. So, how can I fix this?   • Write DAX queries in Report Builder #ssrs #dax #ssas #tabular

    If you use Report Builder with Reporting Services, you can use DAX queries even if the editor for Analysis Services provider does not support DAX syntax. In fact, the DMX editor that you can use in Visual Studio editor of Reporting Services (see a previous post on that), is not available in Report Builder. However, as Sagar Salvi commented in this Microsoft Connect entry, you can use the DAX query text in the query of a Dataset by using the OLE DB provider instead of the Analysis Services one. I think it’s a good idea to show the steps required. First, create a DataSet using the OLE DB connection type, and provide the connection string the provider (Provider), the server name (Data Source) and the database name (Initial Catalog), such as: Provider=MSOLAP;Data Source=SERVERNAME\\TABULAR;Initial Catalog=AdventureWorks Tabular Model SQL 2012 Then, create a Dataset using the data source previously defined, select the Text query type, and write the DAX code in the Query pane: You can also use the Query Designer window, that doesn’t provide any particular help in writing the DAX query, but at least can show a preview of the result of the query execution.
