  • Tridion Installation

    I am currently upgrading an installation of Tridion from 5.3 to 2011 starting almost from scratch (aside from migrating the database), brand new virtual servers. I just want to ask for some advice on my current server setup... a sanity check. All servers are running Windows Server 2008. The pages on our website are all classic ASP. Database SQL Server cluster. The 5.3 database has been migrated using the DatabaseManager. This is pretty standard and works well (in test anyway). Content Manager A single server to run the Content Manager and the Publisher. There are around 10 people using it at any one time so not under a particularly heavy load. Content Data Store Filesystem located somewhere on the network. One directory for live and one for staging. Content Delivery Two servers (cd1 and cd2) each with the the following server roles installed. cd1 writes to a filesystem content data store for the live website, cd2 writes to the content data store for the staging website. Presentation Two public facing web servers (web1 and web2) serving both the live and staging websites. The web servers read directly from the content data store as its a filesystem. Each of the web servers have the Content Delivery Server installed so that I can use dynamic linking (and other features?). I've so far set up everything but the web servers. Any thoughts? edit Thanks to Ram S who linked me to a decent walkthrough, upvoted. I suppose I should have posed some questions as I didn't really ask a question. I guess I'm a little confused over the content deliver aspect. I have the Content Delivery split in two separate parts. cd1 and cd2 do the work of shifting information from the Content Manager to the Staging/Live web directories. web1 and web2 should do the work of serving the web pages to the outside world and will interact with the content data store (file system). Is this a correct setup? I need some parts of the Content Delivery on my web servers right? Theoretically I could get rid of the cd1 and cd2 servers and use web1 and web2 to do the deployment right? But I suspect this will put the web servers under unnecessary strain should there ever be a big publish. I've been reading the 2011 Installation Manual, Content Delivery section, and I'm finding it quite hard to get my head around!

  • WPF designer gives exception when databinding a label to a checkbox

    I'm sure it's something stupid, but I'm playing around with databinding. I have a checkbox and a label on a form. What I'm trying to do is simply bind the Content of the label to the checkbox's IsChecked value.   • Cocoa Bindings and Application Preferences - Crash

    Using the document provided by Apple to create an application preferences window that doesn't require any extra code, I seem to have triggered a crash that cannot be traced by me. While the stuff from Apple is older, I believe I have the settings pretty much the same as shown here: When I run my application (Hcode) and go to the preferences menu item, it brings up the proper window with the defaults I specified in the bindings with the exception of the Spaces per tab is blank (no idea how to fix this).   • Help with inner content box margins/padding

    I am working on a layout for a new site, and I'm having some trouble achieving what I want with the CSS. First of all, I want everything to always stay within the view of the current browser window, with scroll being in my content and not the browser itself. I have an outermost DIV which acts as my "wrapper" for the site displayed centered, with a set width, and having 100% height of the bowser window. Inside of this I place a header and all of this works as intended in all interested browsers. However, once I place my actual content DIV inside this "wrapper" I am unable to define it to be the size I want. If I simply give it margins or padding to make up for the header I have absolutely positioned, the content will overflow and I can't set scroll. And if I try to set the size directly, there are no values I can put in that will work since the margins/padding will add to the size and it will now be bigger than the current browser window, and overflow. Are there any styles people can think of I can use on the wrapper/content DIV(s) to get the desired look? Here is a diagram illustrating the look I want.

  • Subview of custom NSView is resizing itself to fit within its superview

    I have a custom NSView which contains a subview—for the purposes of solving this issue, the top level view is simply acting as a container and automatically resizes to fit within the window. Its subview draws a rectangle 10 pixels inset from the edge of the window, except for the bottom, which should get clipped by the window until it's resized to show the entire rectangle. It does not, however, behave as I intend, and instead shrinks the height of the rectangle when its superview has a smaller height than it does. How do I avoid this and have it stay at its proper height and instead get clipped when the superview is smaller?   • Connect rails application to SQL Server 2005 from Windows

    Hi guys. I (sadly) have to deploy a rails application on Windows XP which has to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Surfing in the web there are a lot of hits for connect from Linux to SQL Server, but cannot find out how to do it from Windows. Basically I followed these steps: Install dbi gem Install activerecord-sql-server-adapter gem My database.yml now looks like this: development: adapter: sqlserver mode: odbc dsn: test_dj host: HOSTNAME\SQLEXPRESS database: test_dj username: guest password: guest But I'm unable to connect it. When I run rake db:migrate I get IM002 (0) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I'm not a Windows user, so cannot understand really well the meaning of dsn element or so. Does someone have an idea how to solve this?   • How to debug UrlRewriter.NET?

    I have looked at their help page it seems like I can register a debug logger that outputs information to the 'standard ASP.NET debug window'. My problem is I don't know what that means, if it means the debug output window in Visual Studio (where you see build output, debug output and more) I am not seeing any UrlRewriter debug output. The rules are working (mostly) I just want to get more debug output to fix issues. I added the register call to the rewriter section like this: <rewriter> <register logger="Intelligencia.UrlRewriter.Logging.DebugLogger, Intelligencia.UrlRewriter" /> .... </rewriter> I am hosting this website locally in IIS on Vista, to debug it I attach the debugger to the w3wp process. Other selected parts from the web.config" <compilation debug="true"> <assemblies> ... </assemblies> </compilation> <trace enabled="true"/> Where should I see the debug output from UrlRewriter.NET? If it is in the Visual Studio debug output window, any ideas why I am not seeing it there?

  • Winforms - a strange problem a with simple binding

    Hi Guys, It's hard for me to clearly describe my problem but I'll try. I have a UserControl1 which contains UserControl2 which contains several WinForms controls (most of them DevExpress). I do simple binding to these controls to my datatable fields. So far everything works fine. When I move the focus to a record in the table (by navigating in a grid rows for example) the binding works great, the concurrenmcy manager moves the cursor and everything reflects right in the bounded controls. The problem starts when I add new user UserControl3 above UserControl2 and make UserControl2.Visible = false. Now UserControl3 is shown and UserControl2 exists but not shown. Now when I set UserControl2.Visible = true to show it again the simple binding stops working! I navigate in the grid but either the ConcurrencyManager stops working or the simple binding becomes disconnected. My question: Are there any known issues/ best practices with the binding & concurrency manager? Thanks a lot, Adi Barda

    Hi, I have a problem with IE8 and the opening of a new window with javascript and submitting parameters with special characters. <a href="javascript:oWin('/html/de/4664286/printregistrationcontent.html?12-security question&#61;Wie hei&#223;t Ihr Lieblingsrestaurant','PRINT',800,600);" class="print">Seite drucken</a> The Problem is the letter 'ß' (sharp S). As you can see the string above is encodes due to anti XSS. This link works in FF and IE6 but IE8 is transmitting the URL Parameter as character with code 65*** (don't know the exaxt value). In the opening window you will only see a square (because character with 65000+ is not printable). I also tried to use URL Encoding instead of HTML encoding <a href="javascript:oWin('/html/de/4664286/printregistrationcontent.html?12-security question%3DWie hei%C3%9Ft Ihr Lieblingsrestaurant','PRINT',800,600);" class="print">Seite drucken</a> If i click on this Link in FF or IE6 it works as expected, but IE8 will fail to transmit the "ß" to the server and therefor will also get it back in the wrong way. If i paste this url to the IE8 it will work too, but not if the window is opened by javascript.   • Core Location Best Placement and User Interruption

    Hi All, My application uses Core Location in three different views. It's working perfectly. In my first view, I subclass the CLLocationManager and use protocol methods for location updates to my calling class. Before I install the framework and code in my other classes, I was wondering: Is the protocol method the best way? What happens to the Core Location execution if the user exits the view or quits the app while it's trying to get a location fix? Is the location task terminated with the GPS system turned off immediately? If the user simply switches to another view, is it OK to assume that I can start Core Location in the next view without regard to the last? Where should the first update location call be placed. Should the application delegate instantiate the CLLocation Manager class using protocol so that it can update any of the views chosen or should each class instantiate the manager. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

But I have removed all cells in atableview before call 'reloadData'.     Till now I've been exporting data INTO the SQL Server CE database, but now in SSIS I'm attempting to source data that was inserted in a previous step of the import. The SSIS fails during validation with the following error Error: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsCouldNotCreateManagedConnectionException: Could not create a managed connection manager. I am attempting to use the ADO NET Source that connects to the Data Source using the Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client.3.5 provider (i.e. ADO.NET connection manager). I CAN preview the data in the ADO.NET Source editor, but the package validation fails due to the above error.

    I am currently trying to use AJAX in my application via jRails. I am trying to return a JSON object from my controller, and then parse it in my Javascript. I am using json2.js to do the parsing. Here is the code I currently have: function getSomething() { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "map/testjson", success: function(data) { var myData = JSON.parse(data[0]); window.alert(myData.login); } }); } and in the controller: class Map::MapController < ApplicationController def index end def testjson @message = User.find(:all) ActiveRecord::Base.include_root_in_json = false respond_to do |w| w.json { render :json => @message.to_json } end end end The window.alert simply says 'undefined' (without tics). However, if I change the javascript to window.alert(data) (the raw object returned by the controller) I get: [{"salt":"aSalt","name":"", "created_at":"2010-03-15T02:34:25Z","remember_token_expires_at": null,"crypted_password":"aPassword", "updated_at":"2010-03-15T02:34:25Z","id":1,"remember_token":null, "login":"zgwrig2","email":"[email protected]"}] This looks like an array of size 1, if I'm looking at it correctly, but I have tried just about every combination of JSON.parse on the data object that I can think of, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong here?

    I have already coded most of a Firefox add-on using the Add-on SDK API. I am now discovering that Add-on SDK might not be powerful enough for my purposes. I need two things: A drop down button in the toolbar next to the location bar. To modify the add-ons manager in firefox It is truly disappointing, but I don't believe either of these is possible with the Add-on SDK. First of all, I understand there is a widget module in the Add-on SDK API. But this only allows me to add a simple icon or label to the awkward add-on bar. What if I need to add a nicer button like the one next to the location bar for Firebug or Greasemonkey? As for modifying the add-ons manager in firefox, I have tried Nickolay Ponomarev's XUL with the Add-on SDK without any success whatsoever. If anyone knows how to get this working and can point me in the right direction that would be extremely helpful (cfx init --template xul doesn't do anything the regular SDK does when I try it)

  • Custom view in iPhone SDK gets placed incorrectly in realation to statusbar

    (ragh, i'm apparently not allowed to post images, so i have included links to the images in this post instead of embedding them) Im writing an iPhone application based on the navigation controller template, but I am not loading the actual navigation controller as the first view in the window. I create a new view controller from a xib, and then add that as a subview, and then only push the navigation view as a modal when i need it. Here's my application: didFinishLaunching ... method in the application deleate RootViewController *rootViewController = (RootViewController *)[navigationController topViewController]; rootViewController.managedObjectContext = self.managedObjectContext; mainViewController = [[MainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; mainViewController.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [window addSubview:[mainViewController view]]; [[mainViewController view] setNeedsLayout]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; It works but the view is not properly aligned with the statusbar: http://img.exdev.dk/1.png When i click "my ambiances" and push the navigation controller view, and then dismiss it again, the layout is fine: same link as above, just replace the 1 with a 2. Sorry for the hassle, apparently I can also only post one link....   • Starting CLI application programmatically does not work depending on arguments

    I try to start plink.exe (PuTTY Link, the command line utility/version of PuTTY) from a C# application to establish an SSH reverse tunnel, but it does no longer work as soon as I pass the correct parameters. What does that mean? The following works as expected: it opens a command line window, displays that I forgot to pass the password for the -pw argument quits, and shows the prompt. I know it got the arguments, since it specifically requests the one thing I did not provide. Uri uri = omitted; ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo(); info.FileName = "cmd"; info.Arguments = "/k \"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\PuTTY\\plink.exe\" -R 3389:" + uri.Host + ":" + uri.Port + " -N -l username -pw"; // TODO pwd Process p = Process.Start(info); I tried the same think with calling plink.exe directly instead of cmd.exe /k, but the window closes immediately, which is unfortunate for bug-hunting. Is there a way plink.exe notices it's not running in a real shell? If yes, how can I circumvent it, like the Start Menu "prompt" does? I hope this question is right on SO, since it, though specifically for a single application, revolves around launching it successfully programmatically.
