• How can I get a nstableview to send an action when the user double-clicks an editable cell

  I am trying to emulate the behavior found in finder and itunes. Single click on a selected object edits it. Double click opens the object. I have set the doubleAction of the tableView but like it says in the documentation. "If the double-clicked cell is editable, this message isn’t sent and the cell is edited instead." I dont want this. Is there a way i can get that message sent even if the cell is editable? I really have no idea how to begin implementing this. Any general pointers would be appreciated.

  Let's say I have an Index view. The model I pass in is actually a collection of models, so the Html property is of type HtmlHelper<List<MyModel>>. If I want to call extension methods (e.g., Display() or DisplayFor() on the individual items in the list, however, I think I need to obtain an HtmlHelper<MyModel>. But how? I tried using the HtmlHelper<TModel> constructor, which looks like this: HtmlHelper<TModel>(ViewContext, IViewDataContainer) But I'm not having any luck with that. I don't know how to obtain the IViewDataContainer for the item, and the documentation on these things is very sparse. A lot of magic apparently happens when I do... return View(List<MyModel>); ...in my controller. How do I recreate that magic on individual items in a list/collection?

  The documentation on Core Data entities says: You might implement a custom class, for example, to provide custom accessor or validation methods, to use non-standard attributes, to specify dependent keys, to calculate derived values, or to implement any other custom logic. I stumbled over the non-standard attributes claim. It's just a guess: If my attribute is anything other than NSString, NSNumber or NSDate I will want to have a non-standard Attribute with special setter and getter methods? So, for example, if I wanted to store an image, this would be a non-standard Attribute with type NSData and a special method, say -(void)setImageWithFileURL:(NSURL*)url which then pulls the image data from the file, puts in in an NSData and assigns it to core data? Or did I get that wrong?

I was recently working with a DateTime object, and wrote something like this: DateTime dt = DateTime.Now; dt.AddDays(1); return dt; // still today's date! WTF? The intellisense documentation for AddDays says it adds a day to the date, which it doesn't - it actually returns a date with a day added to it, so you have to write it like: DateTime dt = DateTime.Now; dt = dt.AddDays(1); return dt; // tomorrow's date This one has bitten me a number of times before, so I thought it would be useful to catalog the worst C# gotchas.

However, if I bind a button to the array controller's add: input and click it during runtime (this adds a new object to the array and table) then the table will show the new object first, with the objects added during applicationDidFinishLaunching following it. Why does this happen? And is there a way to make my table populate without having to add an element first?

  I am currently attending college and the languages that I will 'know' by graduation are C++ and Java. That being said, i am also in the process of teaching myself Python. I know that every programming language has its own pros and cons, but would it be possible to become a python developer out of school? I always have more 'fun' programming in Python than i do in C++ or Java, and I am also in love with Pythons documentation. I know C++ will always be on top in terms of speed, but what would be the benefit of memorizing every javadoc against focusing on Python instead? are there good jobs to be had with Python? edit: also, would it be beneficial for me to look at C# as well? Microsoft is really throwing their support at it so that could be a decent career path as well.

  Dear ladies and sirs. I have to generate 19 bit random numbers. However, there is a constraint - two threads may not generate the same random number when running certain code. The simplest solution is lock the entire code. However, I would like to know if there is a non locking solution. I thought, I can incorporate ManagedThreadId within the produced random numbers, but the ManagedThreadId documentation on the Internet mentions that it may span the whole Int32 range. Unmanaged thread id seems to be limited to 11 bits, still this leaves me with just 8 truly random bits. Are there any other ways? Somehow to utilize the Thread Local Storage, may be? Thanks.

• Any Problems Using Samba as a Windows Domain Controller?

  We're looking to run a Windows domain using Samba+OpenLDAP on Ubuntu as a domain controller. The documentation out there is a bit spotty and out of date, especially when it comes to installation, which features are supported, and how well. Once this is set up, we hope to be able to use integrated authentication of our IIS sites (including Sharepoint) against the domain controller. Anyone out there who has done this already? Anything specific we should watch out for? Or is it not worth the hassle of trying to set up?

  This is not a question about how to compare two BigDecimal objects - I know that you can use compareTo instead of equals to do that, since equals is documented as: Unlike compareTo, this method considers two BigDecimal objects equal only if they are equal in value and scale (thus 2.0 is not equal to 2.00 when compared by this method). The question is: why has the equals been specified in this seemingly counter-intuitive manner? That is, why is it important to be able to distinguish between 2.0 and 2.00? It seems likely that there must be a reason for this, since the Comparable documentation, which specifies the compareTo method, states: It is strongly recommended (though not required) that natural orderings be consistent with equals I imagine there must be a good reason for ignoring this recommendation.

  Hi again, I have the following tag included in my HTML which causes the JEditorPane not to show the HTML output. <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> Not so much a big deal but anyone know why this would happen? Cannot find too much documentation on this - best I came up with was someone having a go a few years ago to see what was supported on retro virus site. At the minute I'm doing a simple find replace on the string which is not good - are there any better ways? I've seen a lot of people saying that RegEx is no good.   Say I want to create an array of pixel values to pass into the createBitmap method described here. I have three int values r, g, b in the range 0 - 0xff. How do I transform those into a opaque pixel p? Does the alpha channel go in the high byte or the low byte? I googled up the documentation but it only states that: Each pixel is stored on 4 bytes. Each channel (RGB and alpha for translucency) is stored with 8 bits of precision (256 possible values.) This configuration is very flexible and offers the best quality. Is there a way to kill the process of the slave kernel securely? EDIT: In really I need a function in Mathematica that returns only when the process of the slave kernel has already killed and its memory has already released. Both LinkInterrupt[link, 1] and LinkClose[link] do not wait while the slave kernel exits. At this moment the only such function is seemed to be killProc[procID] function I had showed in one of answers at this page. But is there a built-in analog?

  How can I obtain kerning information for GDI to then use in GetKerningPairs? The documentation states that The number of pairs in the lpkrnpair array. If the font has more than nNumPairs kerning pairs, the function returns an error. However, I do not know how many pairs to pass in, and I don't see a way to query for it. EDIT I tried to do the following, however, it still gave me 0.   Was just doing a code review and started to wonder: I thought if (self = [super init]) checks whether assigning return value of [super init] to variable self was successful or not (value of operation). Thus (self = nil) would actually be TRUE. I thought if ((self = [super init])) checks what is the value of self after assignment (value of variable). Thus ((self = nil)) would be FALSE. Which one is the correct way to use when initializing your own classes? Apple documentation uses the former one (for example here), which style I'm actually using now.

• Rails controller processing as HTML instead of XML

  I've recently upgraded from Ruby 1.8.6 and Rails 2.3.4 to Ruby 1.9 and Rails 3.0.3. Processing by ChartController#load_progress as HTML Completed 406 Not Acceptable in 251ms I have also tried changing the respond_to block to respond_with chart But I get the same response. I've read all the new Rails documentation on the new respond_with format but I can't seem to elicit an XML response. Am desperately hoping someone has some ideas.

• Recommand a Perl module to persist a large object for re-use between runs?

  I've got a large XML file, which takes 40+ seconds to parse with XML::Simple. I'd like to be able to cache the resulting parsed object so that on the next run I can just retrieve the parsed object and not reparse the whole file. I've looked at using Data::Dumper but the documentation is a bit lacking on how to store and retrieve its output from disk files. Other classes I've looked at (e.g. Cache::Cache) appear designed for storage of many small objects, not a single large one. Can anyone recommend a module designed for this?

• Xcode OpenGL Build Error (header file not found)

  When building my Objective-C project (for Mac OS 10.9, Xcode 5.11), I get the error message Lexical or Preprocessor Issue 'OpenGL/OpenGL.h' file not found. The error is caused by the include section of the file CVDisplayLink.h where the above named file is included. CVDisplayLink.h belongs to the framework CoreVideo. Now there are two strange points related to that issue: The error appeared after I tried to test some basic OpenGL features using the tutorial in the Mac Developer Library ( https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/OpenGL-MacProgGuide/opengl_drawing/opengl_drawing.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001987-CH404-SW8 ). I added an NSOpenGLView to my MainMenu as well as the related code given in the tutorial. Then the error message appeared. I also tried to add the OpenGL and CoreVideo frameworks to my project target, but this did not help. After some frustration, I removed the NSOpenGLView from my project, as well as all related code. Now the error Message still appeares and I have no Idea how to ged rid of it.

  What happens when I MPI_Send to a process that has finished? I am learning MPI, and writing a small sugar distribution-simulation in C. When the factories stop producing, those processes end. When warehouses run empty, they end. Can I somehow tell if the shop's order to a warehouse did not succeed(because the warehouse process has ended) by looking at the return value of MPI_Send? The documentation doesn't mention a specific error code for this situation, but that no error is returned for success. Can I do: if (MPI_Send(...)) { ... /* destination has ended */ ... } And disregard the error code? Thanks

I specifically want to have it in the form of a class and not a set of module functions. However, I can't find anything regarding this particular task in the official documentation. The closest I could find is PyClass_New function (in the Python.h header) but it is not mentioned anywhere in the official docs, so I assume it is not supposed to be used. Currently I'm using the following: EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN IF SQLCODE = -00955 What I would prefer is something like: EXCEPTION WHEN OBJECT_EXISTS THEN This seems cleaner to me and I would prefer that. But I've looked in SYS.STANDARD, and it lists relatively few named exceptions. Online documentation seems to mirror what's in SYS.STANDARD. Is there another package to look in? Some other resource?
