• Windows Service Fails on Launch

  I'm trying to write a windows service. It installs fine, but fails when I run it with the following exception. I've searched for the string "MyNewProgramService", but I can't find any conversions that would throw this error. I've also added try/catch blocks to a bunch of code with custom exception handling without finding where this exception is occuring. I'm thinking it's somewhere in the auto-generated configuartion/setup code. Any ideas? • How can I replace ” with " in ASP.NET SQL?

  I am trying to run this SQL from ASP.NET 2005 but am getting an invalid SQL error because it has a weird character ” in it. In my code I am trying to replace ” with " but it is not doing it as the special character in the replace command is changing to ". Query: insert into userquery(description) values ('In fact, Topeka Google Mayor Bill Bunten expressed it best: “Don’t be fooled. Even Google recognizes that all roads lead to Kansas, not just yellow brick ones.”') If I copy and execute this in mysql it is working good. How can I solve this problem?

• How is the Trac Project List page customised?

  We've been using Trac for a while now for our developers only. However we are now opening it up for our (internal) clients. We have a project listing page (based on the default one that comes with Trac). What we'd like to do, is display more information about the project than what is currently available. I have searched google and here, to see if I can find how to get more information. There seems to be a variable called $project which has .name, .description and .href as attributes. Is there somewhere, a list of the attributes available? Or perhaps a different solution altogether that will allow us to display more information on the project list page. Such as the number of open tickets etc.

• How can I implement drag-out-to-delete in Flex?

  I have a List component from which I'd like to be able to remove items using drag & drop, but without having a specific target. If you use the mac, the behaviour I'm looking for is something like what the Dock uses; when you drag something out of the bounds of the control it should get an icon that indicates that it'll be deleted (OSX uses a cloud or something?) and then if you release it it will be removed from the list. How can I do this? (If I need to provide a more clear description, please comment; I'll fill in what I can)

  Should the playersToInvite property of the GKMatchRequest object contain an array of NSString objects that hold the player id's or should it contain an array of GKPlayer objects? The documentation on this critical property is not clear at all and I've tried both ways, but my code isn't working, so I can't tell by experimentation. Here's the description for that property in the docs... A list of players to invite to the match. Why did they even bother writing that? Thanks for your help!

  I have a table 'products' => ('product_id', 'name', 'description') and a table 'product_price' => ('product_price_id', 'product_id', 'price', 'date_updated') I want to perform a query something like SELECT `p`.*, `pp`.`price` FROM `products` `p` LEFT JOIN `product_price` `pp` ON `pp`.`product_id` = `p`.`product_id` GROUP BY `p`.`product_id` ORDER BY `pp`.`date_updated` DESC As you can probably guess the price changes often and I need to pull out the latest one. The trouble is I cannot work out how to order the LEFT JOINed table. I tried using some of the GROUP BY functions like MAX() but that would only pull out the column not the row. Thanks.

• Xcode automatically converts the object to NSArray

  I have been working on an app and during the development, I am facing a very strange problem. I have a NSMutableArray tempSortedArray, which is full of objects of Store types. All the objects are valid as I can see them in my GUI, the problem arises when I iterate through the array, at index 90, which can be generally anyone, the XCode converts the Store object to NSMutableArray object. Any idea, why this is happening.   I ran the following command at linux bash: apt-cache search hex.*(view|edit) My intention was to find any software packages whose name/description contains the pattern 'hex.*(view|edit)'. But among the results I got this: kipi-plugins - image manipulation/handling plugins for KIPI aware programs How could this be in the results list? I didn't see any matching string in this result. Is this a bug of the apt-cache search command? Or do I mis-understand how the regex is used by this command? Many thanks.

The image should always show fully on the screen, so it resizes when the screen does. It should have the biggest size possible, but never be cropped and never use scrollbars. The image should be centered with respect to the container, with the text showing on the right margin. The text should be left-aligned horizontally, center-aligned vertically and have a 30px separation from the image. • What is the best software to write and organize written copy / content for a website?

  I'm a newbie product manager, looking for tips on how to write and organize text copy for my company's website. I need to be able to prepare the content for our public site and turn it over to the web designer who publishes it to our live site. I want our UI team to be able to quickly glance at the copy I write and immediately know where on the page I intend for it to go. Currently, I'm using microsoft word to write and color code different text to signify where I want specific text to go. It is difficult for the UI guy to immediately know if something goes into the nav bar or into a header or a description below a header. In addition to that, it would be helpful for me to be able to write the copy in such a way that the web designer could copy and paste it into the XHTML without having to go back and manually replace special punctuation characters with the XHTML entities. What software is out there that will allow a comprehensive solution to these web copywriting issues?

  I'm trying to figure out how Feedly does their login with Google link. Based on the redirect URL it passes I'd think it was a google service, but at the same time, the login page says it's not associated "Note: Google is not affiliated with feedly. Your password will not be shared with the feedly service". Anyone know what exactly powers this? • How to install Qt on Windows after building?

  I can't find any information on how to install Qt built on Windows. In wiki article How to set up shadow builds on Mac and Linux there's description of -prefix option in configure script but this option is not available on Windows. I know I can use Qt right from the build folder but it does not seem the right thing not to perform an install step. One problem with this approach is size; Qt's build folder takes about 4GB space whereas after installing using binary installer Qt takes about 1GB space. I guess the difference is due to temporary files created during building. I hope some install procedure would install (copy) only needed files leaving temporary files in the build folder.
