• Is it possible to deploy a Ruby app on a plain clean Passenger setup?

  I'm thinking to something really similar on what you can do with mod_php: drop an application in some way inside Apache and making it run with Passenger, without adding anything inside httpd.conf (no vhost, nothing except the basic Passenger configuration). It's something very similar to Wordpress or many other frameworks: just unzip/svn checkout it inside a folder and run it. I know that it's possible with CGI and FCGI, but I'm wondering if it's also possible to tap in the speed of Passenger. I've tried fiddling with the Rack instructions on the official website trying to find a specific .htaccess and config.ru configuration, but nothing so far. I know it's not common, but... is it even possible?

• Deploying WPF applications with SQL Server

  Ok so I'm developing a WPF application that makes heavy use of SQL Server. I've been asked to create an installer package that checks whether the client already has SQL Server Express 2005 already installed, his operating system (64bit Vs x86) and install the required SQL Server instance if needed. I'm then required to automatically map my App.config's connection string to the SQL Server's connection string and run a script to create my database. Is it just me, or does this look like a lot of hard work? Any idea where to start? Edit: Ok should I move to SQL Server Compact edition? Thanks!

• How can I pass in specific parameters to mstest in Visual Studio

  I'm trying to modify my test projuect to allow for remote invocation of an api we're building. Right now the tests are hard coded to run locally(against localhost), but I would like to be able to point the tests at any endpoint (even remote ones in production). Ideally there would be a place in the .testsettings for config values to be stored. Sadly this isn't the case. Or, being able to pass parameters to MSTest that the test would read...? Any ideas?   The context: i have a project, that contains configs/ directory, which contains (surprise-surprise!) a set of config files: database.php, facebook.php, twitter.php, cache.php, etc What I did in svn: I have created branches per specific file and made changes there (changed database connections, facebook API keys, etc). So they were stored in my private branch. Now I'm trying to migrate to "modern" nowadays DSCM - Mercurial. And I cannot get any possibility of doing the same. Any ideas?

• Drupal 6: moving localhost to server | clear cached data

  Hi friends, I worked on localhost to build my drupal site. then, I moved to server. Steps: Clear cache tables (Site Configuration Performance Clear Cached Data button) on localhost Export db and then import on live server Move files/folders to live server Edit settings.php to reflect live server config everything is working great until I make Clear Cached Data on Server. than my custom theme, custom front page, etc... all mess up :( What can be the problem? I appreciate helps so much!! Thanks! !!SORTED!! I used a subtheme for Zen, named mgf . then I had taken a back-up as mgf- somehow after I make Clear Cached Data, Drupal links to this mgf- which is old and doesnt have latest stylings. I just removed this folder from themes, and it linked to the right-latest mgf.

  Is there an easy way to make Struts 2 action names case insensitive? Currently I have the following action defined: <action name="printTest" class="MyClass" > <result name="error">/WEB-INF/jsp/error.jsp</result> <result name="input">/WEB-INF/jsp/test.jsp</result> <result name="success">/WEB-INF/jsp/test.jsp</result> </action> If the user types URL "/app/printtest.do" instead of "/app/printtest.do" this action is not executed. Other then mod_rewrite on the httpd level or something like that, the only option that I know about right now is simply adding the same exact action and changing the name to "printtest". Ideally it would be a simple config change to struts.xml

• Forms Authentication Across Applications Stopped Working

  Hi, I have a .net 1.1 ASP application (domain.com) which has a .net 2 virtual directory (domain.com/v2) beneath it, both applications run within their own app pool on the same machine running IIS 6. The web.config files for both apps are setup for Forms Authentication as described here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/eb0zx8fc(v=VS.80).aspx. Users would be directed to the domain.com/v2/login.aspx page which would authenticate for both applications, this configuration has been working fine for the last few years until installing one of the recent Windows 2003 security updates today. Now after authenticating under /v2 users keep getting redirected back to domain.com/v2/Login.aspx as domain.com doesnt see them as authenticated anymore. Any ideas as to which security update would have caused this and if its possible to rollback? I've looked at a few suggestions on this (e.g. Cross app on subdomain form authentication not working) and other sites but no luck so far Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

• OpenID login on local development server for google app engine

  Are you able to use open id to log into the local development server with google app engine sdk version 1.4.1 and python 2.5? When I execute this self.redirect(users.create_login_url(continue_url, None, openid_url)) I get redirected to http://localhost/_ah/login rather than the openid url. The openid url and continue url are valid. My app.yaml looks like this - url: /_ah/login_required script: do_openid_login.py - url: /users/(.*) script: routers/user_router.py login: required If I browse to http://localhost/users/ I am also redirected to http://localhost/_ah/login rather than http://localhost/_ah/login_required Is there a config issue or does openid not work locally?

• Windows service installed successfully but not responding after started.

  I have a windows service written in C#, .Net framework 2.0. I installed it on three machines and it worked fine but on one machine (with .Net framework 2.0) the setup has installed the service successfully but the service is not responding after I start it. I check for this by checking whether a log file is created at a specific path insribed in the config file or not. This log file is created everytime the timer elapses the interval time. I'm unable to figure out the reason. Have checked all the parameters but unable to get any solution to this. The funny thing is that the same setup is running well on other machines. P.S.: I have admin access on all the servers I'm installing this service on.

  I have a WinForm application, with some dependencies on an external library that can on occasion cause an exception outside of the running threads context. As it stands now, this is completely OK behavior ( well, except of course the exception ) and we wired up AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException to simply restart the program. The only problem is, the [Your Program] has stopped working like the one below, appears: Is there a way to prevent this dialog from appearing at all, be it in the AppDomain unhandled exception handler or in a config setting, as no end users are going to be reading it and it just holds up resources until it is clicked.

  In my environment my Dev and QA Database Instances are on the same server. I would like to deploy the same package (or different versions of the package) into SSIS and set the filter to select different rows in the Config table. Is this possible? This is SQL 2005. For the sake of this question lets say I have one variable, which is a directory path. I would like to have these variables in the table twice (with different Filters applied (Dev and QA) as below (simplified) . . . Filter / Variable Value / Variable Name Dev / c:\data\dev / FilePath QA / c:\data\qa / FilePath Do I need to apply a change within the settings of the package in SSIS or is it changed on the job step within Agent? Any help would be appreciated.

• Why is Drupal writing to root and not sites/default/files?

  I'm using Drupal 6.14 on Win7. Everything seems to work except files that should be written to sites/default/files are trying to be written to /. The site was moved from a linux installation, which is writing the files correctly. I have setup a web.config w/ the rewrite rules for drupal. Not sure what or where else I should check.   We use database to centralize our configuration. As part of it, I want to store the standard service behaviors configuration like expose service metatdata, service debug, service throttling for a service inside database rather than in web/app.config. I was planing to store the configuration for a behavior in database as XML. For e.g. <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailsinFault=true / What I am struggling with is once I read this XML from database how do I create ServiceDebugBehavior instance from it and apply it to my service host? I have tried using XML Serializer but didn't had success. Any thoughts on how this could be achieved or any alternate solutions?

• Execute a batch script from Firefox

  I have written an intranet application from which you can directly connect to a virtual machine by clicking on a RDP-button. The click calls a .bat file, which opens the connection. With IE, this is no problem, as you can choose to directly execute the batch file. But with Firefox, I can only download the script, and have to start it manually afterwards. Is there a way to trust the intranet domain (about:config?) so Firefox allows it to execute scripts directly? Or is there an even better (easier) way to start an RDP connection from Firefox?

  We're using SQL Inserts to insert some data via a script into DB/2 tables, e.g. CREATE TABLE TICKETS (TICKETID VARCHAR(10) NOT NULL); On my home installation, this statement works fine (note that I'm using an integer which is autoatically cast into a VarChar): INSERT INTO TICKETS (TICKETID) VALUES (1); while at my customer's site I get a type error. My question(s): Is this behavior version dependent? (I use a DB2 Express V9.7, while the customer has an Enterprise V9.5) Is there a config option to change the behavior? (I would like my home install to behave as close as possible as the production environment is going to be.)

• Visual Website Optimizer and Code Igniter

  We are trying to integrate visual website optimizer into a site of ours that uses Code Igniter. The problem is when we go into the VWO control panel to look at stats and previews nothing seems to be working. In the previews panel, all of them come up as code igniter error pages that say "The URI you submitted has disallowed characters." I have researched some solutions to this and have tried changing the regex in system/config to allow more characters, all characters etc and I am still having the problem. Any known issues or problems trying to integrate VWO and Code Igniter? This definitely seems to be a url issue but I can't nail it down.

• Software buttons in the android 4.2 emulator not showing up (tablet)

  I'm getting crazy right now. I just installed the latest android adt bundle from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html. It's version v21.0.0. Now I wanted to test my tablet app (designed for 10.1" xlarge mdpi) in the emulator, but I cannot get any software buttons for home/back/... Here's my device configuration. This config is afterwards assigned to the avd. http://i.stack.imgur.com/Q7xvP.png Hardware-buttons don't work as well (you cannot set hardware buttons in a tablet-like emulator). The target api is level 15 (android 4.0.3). I searched stackoverflow, but didn't find any help concerning the latest version of android.   I have an issue where adding this to any asp.net request causes and unhandled error (regardless of CustomErrors setting): ?aspxerrorpath=<script The weird thing is that I have two applications that are totally immune to the problem, but I can't spot the difference. I'm running on IIS 7 and using the 4.0 Framework. But this also happens on my 3.5 IIS 6 apps. Again, I have two sites that are fine (IIS 7, 4.0) but can't determine why. I have tried turning off request validation to no avail. Has anyone encountered something similar? FIXED: This looks like it was an Umbraco issue. It was ignoring my validateRequest="false" in the web.config. Adding this to the template fixed it:
