  I have installed postfix with dovecot and postfix admin and all seemed well at the beginning. I can log in with thunderbird and check the mailboxes (all empty now) and TRY to send mail, even TLS works. The problem comes when I try to send mail. This is the output of mail.log when I try to send mail from an address to the same address: Nov 23 16:41:55 mailforge postfix/local[6322]: 297792467C: to=, relay=local, delay=0.01, delays=0/0/0/0.01, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (unknown user: "test") Nov 23 16:41:55 mailforge postfix/qmgr[6293]: 297792467C: removed To me it looks like as if postfix tries to look for the user "test" while in the mysql database users are named as [email protected] . Where should I change this behaviour?

• Can I install linux has the host in a dell poweredge server (r710)?

  I might have a deal on dual six core poweredge server and I'm about to go test its performance but I'm wondering few things which I can't find answers for, and I can't test them before buying the machine. I don't want vmware at all so can I just wipe it and install linux instead, or is it embedded in some parts I have no access to. Will I still be able to update different firmwares (perc controllers, motherboard, etc) on this dell poweredge or does it require to have the vmware esxi installed as the host os. And optionally.. is there any foreseeable problems in doing so?

• Windows 7 booting and startup repair issues

  I have a MSI FR720 laptop with Windows 7 and Lubuntu partions. For quite a while (6 months or so) I've been having issues booting from my hard drive, it'd take me between 5 minutes and several hours for me to be able to have it recognize the hard drive as a bootable device. I did several disk checks on it, and my hard drive seems in perfect condition, and the fact that booting would usually only work after removing the hard drive and trying to reset it in its slot or lightly shaking it makes me think it had something to do with the connection in the hard drive slot as opposed to the hard drive itself. I was having particular issues with it detecting the hard drive today so I decided to try booting it from an external hard drive dock. It detected it first try and so far has had no problems finding the bootable partitions on my hard drive. When I selected my Windows 7 partition from the boot menu it said that it hadn't been shut down properly last time and needed startup repair. I've done this several times over the last 6 months, so this is hardly unusual. I do startup repair, it fails, and then I try to do a system restore. The system restore also failed, and it says that no files were changed. I restart and try it again. However, this time when I get to the startup repair it's not detecting a Windows OS. I tried clicking next and doing a startup repair but the repair is always failing. If I ignore the startup repair option and instead select "Launch windows normally" it will get to the windows animation, stop halfway through and then crash into a BSoD. I can't read the error on the screen because it immediately switches to back and tries to restart. This is my first time asking a question like this online, so let me know if I need to provide any extra information and I'll do my best to give it I tried using diskpart to find the list of partitions and see if one's labelled as an active partition, but it says that no disk were detected. I can run Lubuntu just fine. I can also see all of my Windows 7 files from it EDIT: The startup repair diagnosis and repair log is this: -- Number of repair attempts: 1 Session details System Disk = Windows directory = AutoChk Run = 0 Number of root causes = 1 Test Performed: Name: Check for updates Result: Completed successfully.   I have a xen server with xen-4.1.3, linux-image-3.2.0-3-amd64, debian squeeze and 16Gb of RAM. The domain-0 has 1Gb of ram, the rest of memory belongs to the hypervisor. I want to start a guest domain with a minimal amount of memory and increase it runtime later. • Tool to automate basic connectivity testing

  After our vendors have setup a certain test environment, we need to go in to perform connectivity testing between PC to servers and also between servers. The problem is that we run a range of tests to telnet between 2 nodes on several ports and this is a manual and rather tedious process. Does anyone know of a small tool or script that I can take input on the range of ports to be test and will run an automated range of testing against those ports? All I need to do is to validate whether a TCP connection can be established from the source PC / server to the target server IP address / port. Thanks, Wong

• Debian SMB share having permission issues in windows 7

  Hi Everyone, I setup a Debian squeeze server with samba. I then shared my /media directory with the following configuration: [media] comment=Hard Drives read only = no locking = no path = /media guest ok = yes browsable = yes directory mask = 0777 When the drives are mapped in Windows 7, the user can write to all of the subdirectories of media (sdb1, sdc1, etc), but cannot write to any folders that they create themselves in the subdirectories of media. For example, if the user mapped /media/sdb1 to Z:, and then creates a folder Z:\test, the folder is created successfully, but no files can be written to Z:\test. If the user ssh's into the server, they have no problems writing to these directories. I have included the screenshots, in order, of what happens on Windows. • Horrible time with WAMP, Joomla and Windows 7 (Permissions)

  I have WAMP and Joomla installed on Windows 7. I have made a virtual host outside of the www directory that houses a test joomla site. I have also made a joomla component that I want to install and test on this virtual host. I am having constant problems with permissions. I have given all users full access to the folder containing the files under the security Tab in Win7. It seems to me that when (Apache/PHP) creates a file it put restrictions on the permissions which does not allow it to delete or edit the file anymore so I have to manually go and delete the files when I want to uninstall my component. Also, I cannot install the .zip - instead I have to unzip manually to the tmp folder because when I upload the zip in the Joomla Installer I get the same permissions problems as above. How can I get rid of these issues once an for all?

  I am running ubuntu 11.10 in a virtual machine (VirtualBox) to learn more about development in linux. I am using a git repository to save my work and have written a script to bundle my work up and save it to the shared folder for use while the virtual machine is not running. I would like to automatically run this script before shutdown so that my work is always available if the vm is off (currently I have to manually run the script). • Insanity Day 3

  So on Tuesday (Sept 25th) I did my 2nd Insanity workout (for those keeping track, I’m not counting the fit test as #1) and it was MURDER on my legs. I wasn’t able to get to it yesterday, and I’m noticing a trend in this first week – I can easily push to do it every 2nd day, but life is just too crazy busy right now (yeah yeah, excuses right? I look at it more like priorities – I have a tech conference I’m running next week, crazy days right now). Today I moved to the 3rd workout – but honestly I couldn’t get into it. It was the cardio recovery day, which is a lot of stretching and stuff. I think if I had been doing the first two sessions back to back I’d need it, but I didn’t want to cool down today – I wanted to push! So I moved to the next DVD in the series but for some reason couldn’t get it to run on my computer, even with SlyDVD. So – back to Disc 1 and the Plyometric Cardio Circuit! Fantastic workout again this morning. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not all of a sudden in amazing shape, but I am noticing already that I seem to be somewhat better – I’m really looking forward to my next fit test at the end of the month!

• trying to copy security groups to a user using dsmod group utility in AD

• My Computer will not turn on?

  I recently built a gaming pc. It was working fine before the following events: I installed a graphics card driver update then: in windows it said that the user experience index needed to be refreshed, so i started the test and somewhere in the middle of the test my pc just switched off. No shutting down just stopped. Now it won't turn back on. I have checked its plugged in and the switch on psu is down, i tried a different power cable and i checked all the connections. When i press the power button nothing happens, no fans no lights no post beep. • Large OSX 10.6 to Windows 7 smb transfers fail?

  I'm connecting to a windows 7 box from a OSX 10.6 box via smb: smb://ftp1 Connection works fine, I can transfer individual files one at a time, but as soon as I try and move an entier folder I get the following error: The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “test” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36) This error happens on all our OSX boxes when trying to push the entier folder to the Win7 box. The folder TEST in the above error message has -R 777 permissions. I can move every image file to the windows box one by one with no errors. But if I try an move the entier folder. bam error out. This error seems to kill the smb client on the Windows box as well. There's an FTP server on the windows box and I can FTP in from the OSX box and move everything just fine. Not sure what is going on here?

  I have an Mailbox which multiple users have access to, it works fine for me and I can add it in Outlook as an additional mailbox to my account and list all its content. I can access my personal mailbox using IMAP, I'm testing it by just telneting in and LIST'ing it. The problem is that another user trying to access it is having problems accessing it through IMAP; and I want to test if I can access the shared mailbox with my account - how can I do that in terms of IMAP commands? What I am doing now is: telnet mail.server 01 LOGIN user pass 02 LIST "" * 03 LOGOUT Edit: If there is another way to test this, that is an equally good answer.

• Why might one hard disk perform slower than another?

  I have just bought two WD 3TB Reds (WD30EFRX) for a FreeNAS box and whilst doing burn-in testing it seems like one is consistently taking about 10% longer than the other. So far I've done: a dd read test of the whole device, a long SMART test and it's currently halfway through a badblocks -wvs. The second device is lagging behind the first on all of them. I'm running these commands on Debian stable in two Konsole tabs. Is there a reason this could be considered normal behaviour or is it worth running the tests independantly? They're both plugged in to the LSI 2308 (IT mode) on a Supermicro X10SL7-F.

  Possible Duplicate: How to deal with huge changes to a data specification? As described in this question, I need to modified a 4800 line c program to fulfill the new functional specification. However I have no idea of HOW to do it. Background: There is a updated version of a header file which the program depends on. I've speculated the changes and found that at least 30 critical changes are present. With the new header file, the c program cannot even compile. The error is too much that the compile said "too much error" and don't list every one. Unlike normal modification which can be easily test, this has no way to test without overcoming the 30 critical changes. For example, there would be no point to run the modified program with the old header file. On the other hand, with the new header file, the program can't run until I've covered every one of the 30 critical changes scattered in the new header file so that I can't even verify the correctness of each modification until there is no more compilation error. Do you have any idea to deal with this situation?

• LinkedIn API returns 'Unauthorized' response (PHP OAuth)

• Access, ADO & 64-bit

  We have a large codebase that uses ADO under 32-bit, and we need to convert the code to 64-bit. We were using the Jet provider, but I know this is not supported under x64. We're importing definitions from msado15.dll. As of a while ago a 64-bit version of this DLL became available, but we are unable to get it to work. Obviously, we tested the code under 32 bit and got the desired results. On the 64-bit machine, the code explicitly imports from the known 64-bit version of msado15.dll (v6.1.7600.nnn). The machine has had the Office Data Providers (AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe) applied to get the new ACE drivers (ACEODBC.DLL, v14.nnn.nnn.nnn). If I look at Data Source under Administrator Tools (I know ODBC isn't the same as ADO, it was just to confirm the DLL was installed correctly), it shows the expected DLL. I can even confirm, using Process Explorer, that the version of msado15.dll it loads at run time (thus confirming that COM is finding the ADO dll) is the 64-bit version. I believe we have MDAC 2.8 installed (we have msado28.tlb in the same place as msado15.dll, but that might have been installed by AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe). The test machine is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit. The test code was recompiled on that machine using VS2008 for x64 in full Release and run externally. And yet, we still get COM error 0x800a0e7a (Provider not found). Is there anything any one can suggest as to why this isn't working, or what further tests / checks I can perform to verify that I have all the right stuff on the machine (and thus, that it should work)? I know that ODBC will work under x64 (tried the test program using that) but rewriting our code base for ODBC would be undesirable!

  Hi, I am using a DataGrid (from Microsoft.Windows.Controls.DataGrid) to display items on and on this DataGrid I use a custom Column which extends DataGridBoundColumn. I have bound an ObservableCollection to the ItemSource of the DataGrid. Conversation is one of my own custom datatypes which a (among other things) has a boolean called active. However: When there are more entries on the DataGrid then fit at any one time (and vertical scrollbars are added) the behavior with respect to the column for all the conversations is strange. The conversations that are initially loaded are correct, but when I use the scrollbar of the DataGrid conversations that enter the view seems to have a random status (although more inactive than active ones, which corresponds to the actual ratio). When I scroll back up, the active images of the Conversations initially shown (before scrolling) are not correct anymore as well. When I replace my custom DataGridBoundColumn class with (for instance) DataGridCheckBoxColumn it works as intended so my extension of the DataGridBoundColumn class must be incomplete. • How can I use the Boost Graph Library to lay out verticies?

• Mercurial hg clone on Windows via ssh with copSSH issue

  I have a Windows Server 2008 machine (iis7) that has CopSSH set up on it. To connect to it, I have a Windows 7 machine with Mercurial 1.5.1 (and TortoiseHg) installed. I can connect to the server using PuTTY with a non-standard ssh port and a .ppk file just fine. So I know the server can be SSH'd into. Next, I wanted to use the CLI to connect via hg clone to get a private repo. I've seen elsewhere that you need to have ssh configured in your mercurial.ini file, so my mercurial.ini has a line: ssh = plink.exe -ssh -C -l username -P #### -i "C:/Program Files/PuTTY/Key Files/KyleKey.ppk" Note: username is filled in with the username I set up via copSSH. #### is filled in with the non-standard ssh port I've defined for copSSH. I try to do the command hg clone ssh://inthom.com but I get this error: remote: bash: inthom.com: command not found abort: no suitable response from remote hg! It looks like hg or plink parses the hostname such that it thinks that inthom.com is a command instead of the server to ssh to. That's really odd. Next, I tried to just use plink to connect by plink -P #### ssh://inthom.com, and I am then prompted for my username, and next password. I enter them both and then I get this error: bash: ssh://inthom.com: No such file or directory So now it looks like plink doesn't parse the hostname correctly. I fiddled around for a while trying to figure out how to do call hg clone with an empty ssh:// field and eventually figured out that this command allows me to reach the server and clone a test repo on the inthom.com server: hg clone ssh://!/Repos/test ! is the character I've found that let's me leave the hostname blank, but specify the repo folder to clone. What I really don't understand is how plink knows what server to ssh to at all. neither my mercurial.ini nor the command specify a server. None of the hg clone examples I've seen have a ! character. They all use an address, which makes sense, so you can connect to any repo via ssh that you want to clone. My only guess is that it somehow defaults to the last server I used PuTTY to SSH to, but I SSH'd into another server, and then tried to use plink to get to it, but plink still defaults to inthom.com (verified with the -v arg to plink). So I am at a loss as to how plink gets this server value at all. For "fun", I tried using TortoiseHg and can only clone a repo when I use ssh://!/Repos/test as the Source. Now, you can see that, since plink doesn't parse the hostname correctly, I had to specify the port number and username in the mercurial.ini file, instead of in the hostname like [email protected]:#### like you'd expect to. Trying to figure this out at first drove me insane, because I would get errors that the host couldn't be reached, which I knew shouldn't be the case. My question is how can I configure my setup so that ssh://[email protected]:####/Repos/test is parsed correctly as the username, hostname, port number, and repo to copy? Is it something wrong with the version of plink that I'm using, or is there some setting I may have messed up? If it is plink's fault, is there an alternative tool I can use? I'm going to try to get my friend set up to connect to this same repo, so I'd like to have a clean solution instead of this ! business. Especially when I have no idea how plink gets this default server, so I'm not sure if he'd even be able to get to inthom.com correctly. PS. I've had to use a ton of different tutorials to even get to this stage. Therefore, I haven't tried pushing any changes to the server yet. Hopefully I'll get this figured out and then I can try pushing changes to the repo.
