    Hi, I am pretty new to CakePHP, having been using rails for a little while. My question is, can anyone recommend a good user management, authentication and acl plugin or component for Cake? I have come across this one, but it has not been updated since 2008. If not can anyone recommend a good book/tutorial site for this kind of set up? I am more than happy to sit down and write this kind of thing myself, but would rather use a tested community plug-in. Cheers

    I'm looking into creating a GUI program for Windows in C++, I have a good knowledge of C++ in the command line and also in game creation. But I'm not sure where to start with GUI application development. I have Visual Studio 2010 and have created new projects with a GUI but these templates are complex and leaves me not understanding whats happening and how to modify it.     Hi, I'm currently working on a branch and want some commits to merge into other branches: /--a--b--c--d--e--f--g----- branchA (letters are commits) --o--------------------------- master -------------------------- branchB However I noticed that it would be a good idea to pool some commits. I want to "concatenate" commit a, d, e and g into one patch and commit it to master. Commits b and f should go as one commit to branchB. Is there a good 'git'-ish way to achieve it?

  • Decorator Design Pattern Use With Service Objects (wSingleton)

    I'm working on a project where I need to add some functionality to a service object and using a decorator to add it in seems like a good fit. However, I've only ever used decorators with simple beans, never on a singleton like a service object. Has anyone ever done this before and what are the pros and cons? In this case I don't think creating a subclass will work so a decorator seems to be a good fit. What are your thoughts on doing this?

    I need to take a file and find the first occurrence of a literal string pattern as a complete line of the file: Acknowledgments: And then I wish to create a new file from the line of match all the way to the end of the file. I expect perl is a good way to do this, but I'm not much of a perl person, alternatively maybe sed is a good way? Please suggest a simple way to reliably accomplish this in Unix.

    Hi, I have a folder for downloads on my server, i want to prevent direct access to that folder so i am makin it pass-protected with htaccess and i will push download with a php script. But i have some questions regarding mkdir and file_exists Do mkdir and file_exists works good for pass-protected folders ? and would i get any error while uploading file to that folder ? AND is this a good way of preventing direct access ? thanks
