    I need to invalidate cache in a web application when related data is updated in another application (running on the same machine). Both applications use the same database. I know there's SqlCacheDependency. How do is it in terms of performance? Is interprocess communication (e.g. using name pipes) an option in web applications? Does it outperform SqlCacheDependency?

  • asp.net prevent form submission twice

    I have a web forms web application (asp.net 2.0). When the user submits the form I have the submit link actually going away so they can't submit it again. However, they could press F5 and that is causing another insert into the database, which I don't want to have happen. Is there a setting of some sort that I can set if/when they do press F5 to tell the page - don't submit again?

    I installed .net framework 4 on my windows 2003 enterprise x64, wrote simple asp.net 4.0 application (default.aspx page only). The application works great if request is to default.aspx, not to the root site: contoso.com/ - doesn't work (Get 404 error) contoso.com/default.aspx - works. Default.aspx is in list of default documents in IIS. Please help.

  • Getting the executed output of an aspx page after a short delay

    Hi all, I have an aspx page which has some javascript code like <script> setTimeout("document.write('" + place.address + "');",1); </script> As it is clear from the code it will going to write something on the page after a very short delay of 1 ms. I have created an another page to get the page executed by some query string and get its output. Something that simulates a regular FTP client, but actually displays web pages over HTTP, with the following functions: Create Folder Rename File/Folder Delete File/Folder Change Timestamp ("Touch") Move Archive etc. I saw a few commercial tools, but nothing when it comes to OSS.     I did a system test on a new ASP.NET app. I encountered several exceptions when using the BACK button in my browser (IE 7). I stated in a review-record that the web-app must support the use of a BACK button (or at least handle it gracefully with for example session-time out warnings). The teamlead did not agree with me as he stated that a web-app should not support working with the back-button by default. Do you agree?

    We have a checkbox that is initially disabled and checked. It is then enabled on the client side through javascript. If the user then unchecks the box and presses the button to invoke a postback, the state of the checkbox remains as checked on the server side. This is obviously undesirable behaviour. I tried implementing my pages' custom error messages using his method, yet there are some problems I can't quite explain. a) When I provoke a 404 Error by entering in invalid URL such as localhost:3001/NonexistantPage, it defaults to the ServerError() Action of my error controller even though it should go to NotFound(). I really like Pure.Kromes approach to implementing these error messages, but if there are better ways of achieving this don't hestitate to tell me. Thanks! *EDIT : * I can directly navigate to my views through the ErrorController by accessing /Error/NotFound or Error/ServerError. The views themselves only contain some text, no markup or anything. As I said, it actually works in some way, just not the way I intended it to work. There seems to be an issue with the redirect in the web.config, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Codeproject.com has this tutorial, but it requires you to have the full version of Acrobat. Is there an open source alternative that's geared for ASP.NET?

  • Adding row to Datalist

    I have been searching around the web for a solution to this issue but have come across nothing so far. Basically I have a table as shown below, whhich i made up of itemtemplate fields and is populated by a dataset from my database. It shows brands to the user of which they can then click and go onto another page. I need to add another option to the table called "All Brands". Thus then I can use this to go to a page showing all the brands.
