• Mysql Algorithm for Determining Closest Colour Match

  I'm attempting to create a true mosaic application. At the moment I have one mosaic image, ie the one the mosaic is based on and about 4000 images from my iPhoto library that act as the image library. I have already done my research and analysed the mosaic image. I've converted it into 64x64 slices each of 8 pixels. I've calculated the average colour for each slice and assertain the r, g, b and brightness (Luminance (perceived option 1) = (0.299*R + 0.587*G + 0.114*B)) value. I have done the same for each of the image library photos. The mosaic slices table looks like so. slice_id, slice_image_id, slice_slice_id, slice_image_column, slice_image_row, slice_colour_hex, slice_rgb_red, slice_rgb_blue, slice_rgb_green, slice_rgb_brightness The image library table looks like so. upload_id, upload_file, upload_colour_hex, upload_rgb_red, upload_rgb_green, upload_rgb_blue, upload_rgb_brightness So basically I'm reading the image slices from the slices table into PHP and then pulling out the appropriate images from the library table based on the colour hexs. My trouble is that I've been on this too long and probably had too many energy drinks so am not concentrating properly, I can't figure out the way to pick out the nearest colour neighbor if the appropriate hex code doesn't exist. Any ideas on the perfect query? NB: I know pulling out the slices one by one is not ideal however the mosaic is only rebuilt periodically so a sudden burst in the mysql load doesn't really bother me, however if there us a way to pull the images out all at once that would also be a massive bonus.

  Our smart-client application is deployed using the ClickOnce. Our production site is hosted on 2 separate web servers, and they are pointed from the same domain-name (for load-balancing). Here is what we do when we push updates to the production. In VS, publish the smart-client application into a localhost directory Copy/Paste the directory to the webservers The deployment address from VS is localhost while it is being used in some other production website.   hi friends, I want to set Image Brightness and contras of images that are in my photo library, I got the code from http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/samplecode/GLImageProcessing/Introduction/Intro.html, but that will work on the EAGL layer i.e. all the effects are provided on image that is put initially not on the image that are selected from the photo library ,as this function will work on the view(EAGLview) and not on the image view. so how to change the brightness and contras of any images that are selected from the photo library?? if any one know this please let me know.. regards viral.

• WCF NetTcpBinding Security - how does it work?

  Hi, encountered the following problems trying to work through the quagmire of settings in WCF... I created a WCF client server service using a NetTcp binding. I didn't make any changes to the security settings and when running on one machine it works very nicely. However, when I ran my client from another machine it complained that the server didnt like the security credentials that were sent. I understand now that NetTCP is "secured" by default and that my client would have been passing the wrong security details - namely the windows user name and password (or some form of domain authentication) to my server which as they are not running on the same domain it would not have liked. However, what I don't understand is as follows: I haven't specified any security in my binding - does the standard settings expect a windows user name or password to be sent? I don't have any certificate installed on my server - I understand that NetTCP bindings need some form of public private key to protect the credentials - yet this seemed to work when both client and server were on the same machine - how was the data getting encrypted? Or wants it as WCF knew it was on the same machine and encryption isn't needed? I have had to set my security mode on my client and server to "none" now and they connect nicely. However is there any way to encrypt my data without a certificate? Finally... what is the difference between Transport and Message security? To check my understanding (excuse the scenario!) message security is like if I sent a letter from person A to person B and I encode my hand writing to ensure that if anyone intercepts it they cannot read it?   Hi everybody. I'm working with gwtai to integrate a java applet into my gwt - project. Basic communication from my main application to the applet (such as invoking simple methods that return int or boolean values) works. But the main reason why I need to integrate this applet is, that I need it to connect to another server and receive a answer and pass it to my gwt-application. So there's one basic method in the applet: public String SendAndReceive(String host, int sendPort, int receivePort, String query) that connects to the server, receives an answer and returns this answer as a string. When I now try to invoke this method like this: applet.SendAndReceive("0.0.0.0", 9099, 2000, "show streams;"); I constantly run into following error (full error message at the end): com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (String): Error calling method on NPObject! [plugin exception: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission * read,write)] I couldn't find a solution (for gwtai is a quite uncommon topic), what I found out (and what the Exception let's one assume) is, that there's a security problem - maybe because I'm connecting to another server. I also read something about browser's Single Origin Policy, what would point in the same direction...up to now I have never worked with java applets. So if someone has a solution or a hint I would be very thankful. If more code is helpful I can give.   Background So I am attempting to load a jnilib (specifically JOGL) into java on OSX at runtime. I have been following along the relevant stackoverflow questions: Maven and the JOGL Library Loading DLL in Java - Eclipse - JNI How to make a jar file that include all jar files The end goal for me is to package platform specific JOGL files into a jar and unzip them into a temp directory and load them at start-up. I worked my problem back to simply attempting to load JOGL using hard-coded paths: File f = new File("/var/folders/+n/+nfb8NHsHiSpEh6AHMCyvE+++TI/-Tmp-/libjogl.jnilib"); System.load(f.toString()); f = new File ("/var/folders/+n/+nfb8NHsHiSpEh6AHMCyvE+++TI/-Tmp-/libjogl_awt.jnilib"); System.load(f.toString()); I get the following exception when attempting to use the JOGL API: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no jogl in java.library.path But when I specify java.library.path by adding the following JVM option: -Djava.library.path="/var/folders/+n/+nfb8NHsHiSpEh6AHMCyvE+++TI/-Tmp-/" Everything works fine. Question Is it possible use System.load (or some other variant) on OSX as a replacement for -Djava.library.path that is invoked at runtime?

• Scheme: Detecting duplicate elements in a list

  Does R6RS or Chez Scheme v7.9.4 have a library function to check if a list contains duplicate elements? Alternatively, do either have any built in functionality for sets (which dis-allow duplicate elements)? So far, I've only been able to find an example here. The problem with that is that it doesn't appear to actually be part of the Chez Scheme library. Although I could write my own version of this, I'd much rather use a well known, tested, and maintained library function - especially given how basic an operation this is. So a simple "use these built-in functions" or a "no built-in library implements this" will suffice. Thanks!

  hi, i know this question have been mentioned alot here but mine is a little more updated, now with ASP.net 4 and new Ajax client templating plus JASON services. so if i got all these new capabilities will i really need server side controls as long as i can bind on client side, create data-views on client side heck i can even use data-context and apply CRUD operations on clients side. so i actually i wont need button_click server side event or what so ever... i am asking this because i own some commercial Controls like Telerik and Component art and they both offer client side operations ow but still i am confused as to my knowledge creating these controls will still have to go through Page Life cycle please advise me.

• C++/CLI managed thread cleanup

  Hi. I'm writing a managed C++/CLI library wrapper for the MySQL embedded server. The mysql C library requires me to call mysql_thread_init() for every thread that will be using it, and mysql_thread_end() for each thread that exits after using it. Debugging any given VB.Net project I can see at least seven threads; I suppose my library will see only one thread if VB doesn't explicitly create worker threads itself (any confirmations on that?). However, I need clients to my library to be able to create worker threads if they need to, so my library must be thread-aware to some degree. The first option I could think of is to expose some "EnterThread()" and "LeaveThread()" methods in my class, so the client code will explicitly call them at the beginning and before exiting their DoWork() method. This should work if (1) .Net doesn't "magically" create threads the user isn't aware of and (2) the user is careful enough to have the methods called in a try/finally structure of some sort. However, I don't like it very much to have the user handle things manually like that, and I wonder if I could give her a hand on that matter. In a pure Win32 C/C++ DLL I do have the DllMain DLL_THREAD_ATTACH and DLL_THREAD_DETACH pseudo-events, and I could use them for calling mysql_thread_init() and mysql_thread_end() as needed, but there seem to be no such thing in C++/CLI managed code. At the expense of some performance (not much, I think) I can use TLS for detecting the "usage from a new thread" case, but I can imagine no mechanism for the thread exiting case. So, my questions are: (1) could .net create application threads without the user being aware of them? and (2) is there any mechanism I could use similar to DLL_THREAD_ATTACH / DLL_THREAD_DETACH from managed C++/CLI?   I recently decided to switch from Eclipse to Android Studio. I imported a project I was working on and am now getting this error when I try to run the project.   I just added this to my web.xml on my JBOSS server. But it had no effect. I am still allowed to connect to ports that do not use bi-directional certificate exchange. • WCF Timeout issue - should there even be a socket connection?

  I have a .Net application which is split into a client and server side. The communication between them is handled using WCF. I'm not using the automagic service references, but instead I've built the connection manually like described in the Screencast by Miguel Castro. Summarized this means that I create a console application on the server side that holds ServiceHost objects for the different services: var myServiceHost = new System.ServiceModel.ServiceHost(typeof(MyService), new Uri("net.tcp://localhost:8002")); myServiceHost.Open(); And on the client side I have service proxies creating channels using the ChannelFactory: IMyService proxy = new ChannelFactory<IMyService>("MyServiceEndpoint").CreateChannel(); The client and server side share the service contract defined in the interface IMyService. And another advantage is that I get minimal App.config files - without all the autogenerated stuff created through the Service References. Example from client side: <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <system.serviceModel> <client> <endpoint address="net.tcp://localhost:8002/MyEndpoint" binding="netTcpBinding" contract="IMyService" name="MyServiceEndpoint"/> </client> </system.serviceModel> </configuration> So - to my problem. I create the proxy once, and it holds a channel all the way through the application. However, if I leave the application without use for a few minutes the channel has timed out, and I get the following exception: The socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your message or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network resource issue. Local socket timeout was '00:00:59.9979998'. How do I prevent this? I'm assuming I need to specify a higher timeout in my configuration? But I don't want it to ever time out. But on the other hand - I don't want a socket connection! Do I need one? Thought I could go connection less with WCF... What's the permanent solution and best practice on solving this? Set timeout to "never".. Create a new channel for each request? I'm assuming there is some overhead creating the channel?.. Increase the timeout to e.g. 5minutes and create new channel if the connection did timeout? Make it connection less somehow? (Without the overhead of creating channels..) Something else...

  I'm using Windows XP SP3 logged in as the administrator. I had RAID Mirroring running. The motherboard broke earlier in the year. When I got a new battery I did not resync. I just use the disks as two separate disks. I searched Google for the errors but I didn't find anything detailed enough.
