  • Spring server start-up event

    i am facing a problem. I am using tomcat server for my spring maven project and i want to subscribe my application to facebook once when server starts up. I have tried ApplicationListener ContextRefreshedEvent. It gets invoked on application context initialization, but the issue is at that time my server has not completely started and hence my application is not publically accessible which is required in my case as facebook subscription requires verification using application public URL. So i want to do subscription when my server gets started completey and not on application context initialization. Any idea how can i do it? Do i have nay application level event listener that can tell me that server has started completely? Regards jia

  • Compiling error with API 10

    I was following the basic tutorials on developers.android.com and came by creating the activity named DisplayMessageActivity. It is a blank activity with all the specifications given as shown in the tutorial. FYI, I am using Min SDK = API 8, Target SDK = API 16, Compile with = API 10 The next thing is that there are two errors: "The method getActionBar() is undefined for the type DisplayMessageActivity "home cannot be resolved or is not a field" I tried changing the API to 14 which called for another problem, it wants the minimum API to be 11. That solves these problems, but the main problem is so many devices still use Gingerbread or maybe FroYo. Can't I write for them? Do I have to go higher? How to write for them?

  • Getting my app to work on my phone

    Hello I wrote an app android sdk version 1.5 using it's built in emulator in eclipse. I created a database outside of eclipse populated it with data and push it to the emulator folder data/data/project name/database and could access it fine from the my app, everything was working great. My final step was to test the apk file on an actual phone. When I did that the program would not work. After looking into it I found that the database file was not being uploaded into the phone. Is there a special way to install the apk file on the actual phone to get the embedded database to work? Or can I assume that since everything worked fine on the sdk 1.5 emulator that everything will work when I upload it to the market. Thanks in advance.

Okay, what I wanna ask you is that is there a way to start a sample as a project in the Eclipse? I mean like clicking a project file in c# or a solution file.     Recently search engines have been able to page dynamic content on social networking sites. I would like to understand how this is done. Are there static pages created by a site like Facebook that update semi frequently. Does Google attempt to store every possible user name? As I understand it, a page like www.facebook.com/username, is not an actual file stored on disk but is shorthand for a query like: select username from users and display the information on the page. How does Google know about every user, this gets even more complicated when things like tweets are involved.

    Today i installed Ubuntu 10.4 and Eclipse Galileo. Then I downloaded the Android SDK and tried to install all packages via the Android SDK Tools. But unfortunately, only the Target Levels 3, 4, 7 and 8 were available. API Level 5 and 6 are missing. Does anybody know the reason for this? I already did a Google search and there seems to be nobody with the same problem. I also tried to restart it and nothing happens, the API Levels are still missing.

    I have an admin where users from multiple properties can enter in monthly statistics for twitter/facebook followers. We do not have access to the real data/db so this is why a manual entry. The form looks like this: Type ( radio, select **one** only ): - Twitter - Facebook Followers/Fans ( textfield ): Property (dropdown): Hotel A, Hotel B Date Start: mm/dd/yyyy (textfield) Date End: mm/dd/yyyy (textfield) Question 1.1: Since I am only keeping track of month per month, the date start/end fields which I have already created might be too specific. Would it be a better idea just to have a start month/year and and month/year if that's the only thing I care about? Question 1.2: What schema could I use for month to month statistics if I were to change the date start and end textfields to start month/year and end month/year dropdowns?

    The context: i have a project, that contains configs/ directory, which contains (surprise-surprise!) a set of config files: database.php, facebook.php, twitter.php, cache.php, etc What I did in svn: I have created branches per specific file and made changes there (changed database connections, facebook API keys, etc). So they were stored in my private branch. Now I'm trying to migrate to "modern" nowadays DSCM - Mercurial. And I cannot get any possibility of doing the same. Any ideas?

The code it is complaining about is: <style name="Title" parent="@android:style/TextAppearance_Holo_Large"> <item name="android:layout_height">wrap_content</item> <item name="android:layout_width">wrap_content</item> </style> I checked my manifest file and I have set the SDK to: <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" android:targetSdkVersion="17" /> Which i believe allows for using the Holo Themes. I am using Android Studio though I doubt that is the cause of the error. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

    I am not able to run on my android tablet. I have been following the Android training link It says To run the app from Eclipse: Open one of your project's files and click Run from the toolbar. In the Run as window that appears, select Android Application and click OK. But when I do the same , I do not see anything on my Mototola xoom Tablet. I have checke dthe following link for Setting up USB drivers.As per the link , I have confirmed that device is connected When plugged in over USB, you can verify that your device is connected by executing adb devices from your SDK platform-tools/ directory. If connected, you'll see the device name listed as a "device." C:\Android\sdk\platform-tools>adb devices List of devices attached 0380610842bf5157 device Can anyone please advise where I am going wrong. What should I do to make my eclipse code run on android tablet.

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise won't install on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise

    I've been trying to install SQL Server on a new Windows Server 2008. I have tried everything but I haven't been able to narrow down the problem. When the installation fails I get " Exit code (Decimal): -2068643839". The problem with this is that according to Microsoft this is a generic error code. I follow their guide to look into the detail.txt inside C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\ But I can't find something that specifies the exact error. Any suggestions ?   • Embedding ADF UI Components into OAF regions

    Having finished the 2 Webcast on ADF integration with Oracle E-Business Suite, Sara Woodhull, Principal Product Manager on the Oracle E-Business Suite Applications Technology team and I are going to continue adding entries to the series on this topic, trying to cover as many use cases as possible. In this entry, Sara created an overview on how Oracle ADF pages can be embedded into an Oracle Application Framework region. This is a very interesting approach that will enable those of you who are exploring ADF as a technology stack to enhanced some of the Oracle E-Business Suite flows and leverage your skill on Oracle Applications Framework (OAF). In upcoming entries we will start unveiling the internals needed to achieve session sharing between the regions. Stay tuned for more entries and enjoy this new post.   Document Scope This document only covers information that is specific to embedding an Oracle ADF page in an Oracle Application Framework–based page. It assumes knowledge of Oracle ADF and Oracle Application Framework development. It also assumes knowledge of the material in My Oracle Support Note 974949.1, “Oracle E-Business Suite SDK for Java” and My Oracle Support Note 1296491.1, "FAQ for Integration of Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) Applications". Prerequisite Patch Download Patch 12726556:R12.FND.B from My Oracle Support and install it. The implementation described below requires Patch 12726556:R12.FND.B to provide the accessors for the ADF page. This patch is required in addition to the Oracle E-Business Suite SDK for Java patch described in My Oracle Support Note 974949.1. Development Environments You need two different JDeveloper environments: Oracle ADF and OA Framework. Oracle ADF Development Environment You build your Oracle ADF page using JDeveloper 11g. You should use JDeveloper 11g R1 (the latest is 11.1.1.6.0) if you need to use other products in the Oracle Fusion Middleware Stack, such as Oracle WebCenter, Oracle SOA Suite, or BI. You should use JDeveloper 11g R2 (the latest is 11.1.2.3.0) if you do not need other Oracle Fusion Middleware products. JDeveloper 11g R2 is an Oracle ADF-specific release that supports the latest Java EE standards and has various core improvements. Oracle Application Framework Development Environment Build your OA Framework page using a development environment corresponding to your Oracle E-Business Suite version. You must use Release 12.1.2 or later because the rich content container was introduced in Release 12.1.2. See “OA Framework - How to find the correct version of JDeveloper to use with eBusiness Suite 11i or Release 12.x” (My Oracle Support Doc ID 416708.1). Building your Oracle ADF Page Typically you build your ADF page using the session management feature of the Oracle E-Business Suite SDK for Java as described in My Oracle Support Note 974949.1. Also see My Oracle Support Note 1296491.1, "FAQ for Integration of Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) Applications". Building an ADF Page with the Hierarchy Viewer If you are using the ADF hierarchy viewer, you should set up the structure and settings of the ADF page as follows or the hierarchy viewer may not fill the entire area it is supposed to fill (especially a problem in Firefox). Create a stretchable component as the parent component for the hierarchy viewer, such as af:panelStretchLayout (underneath the af:form component in the structure). Use af:panelStretchLayout for Oracle ADF 11.1.1.6 and earlier. For later versions of Oracle ADF, use af:panelGridLayout. Create your hierarchy viewer component inside the stretchable component. Create Function in Oracle E-Business Suite Instance In your Oracle E-Business Suite instance, create a function for your ADF page with the following parameters. You can use either the Functions window in the System Administrator responsibility or the Functions page in the Functional Administrator responsibility. Function Function Name Type=External ADF Function (ADFX) HTML Call=GWY.jsp?targetPage=faces/<your ADF page> ">You must also add your function to an Oracle E-Business Suite menu or permission set and set up function security or role-based access control (RBAC) so that the user has authorization to access the function. If you do not want the function to appear on the navigation menu, add the function without a menu prompt. See the Oracle E-Business Suite System Administrator's Guide Documentation Set for more information. Testing the Function from the Oracle E-Business Suite Home Page It’s a good idea to test launching your ADF page from the Oracle E-Business Suite Home Page. Add your function to the navigation menu for your responsibility with a prompt and try launching it. If your ADF page expects parameters from the surrounding page, those might not be available, however. Setting up the Oracle Application Framework Rich Container Once you have built your Oracle ADF 11g page, you need to embed it in your Oracle Application Framework page. Create Rich Content Container in your OA Framework JDeveloper environment In the OA Extension Structure pane for your OAF page, select the region where you want to add the rich content, and add a richContainer item to the region. Set the following properties on the richContainer item: id Content Type=Others (for Release 12.1.3. This property value may change in a future release.) Destination Function=[function code] Width (in pixels or percent, such as 100%) Height (in pixels) Parameters=[any parameters your Oracle ADF page is expecting to receive from the Oracle Application Framework page] Parameters In the Parameters property, specify parameters that will be passed to the embedded content as a list of comma-separated, name-value pairs. Dynamic parameters may be specified as paramName={@viewAttr}. Dynamic Rich Content Container Properties If you want your rich content container to display a different Oracle ADF page depending on other information, you would set up a different function for each different Oracle ADF page. You would then set the Destination Function and Parameters properties programmatically, instead of setting them in the Property Inspector.   • Learn Cloud Computing – It’s Time

    Last week, I gave an in-house presentation on cloud computing.  I walked through an overview of cloud computing – characteristics (on demand, elastic, fully managed by provider), why are we interested (virtualization, distributed computing, increased access to high-speed internet, weak economy), various types (public, private, virtual private cloud) and services models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.)  Though numerous providers have emerged in the cloud computing space, the presentation focused on Amazon, Google and Microsoft offerings and provided an overview of their platforms, costs, data tier technologies, management and security.  One of the biggest talking points was why developers should consider the cloud as part of their deployment strategy: You only have to pay for what you consume You will be well-positioned for one time event provisioning You will reap the benefits of automated growth and scalable technologies For the record: having deployed dozens of applications on various platforms over the years, pricing tends to be the biggest customer concern.  Yes, scalability is a customer consideration, too, but it comes in distant second.  Boy do I hope you’re still reading… You may be thinking, “Cloud computing is well and good and it sounds catchy, but should I bother?  After all, it’s just another technology bundle which I’m supposed to ramp up on because it’s the latest thing, right?”  Well, my clients used to be 100% reliant upon me to find adequate hosting for them.  Now I find they are often aware of cloud services and some come to me with the “possibility” that deploying to the cloud is the best solution for them.  It’s like the patient who walks into the doctor’s office with their diagnosis and treatment already in mind thanks to the handful of Internet searches they performed earlier that day.  You know what?  The customer may be correct about the cloud.   • TFS Auto Shelve - New Visual Studio 2010 / TFS 2010 Extension

    We've been working with the Visual Studio 2010 SDK and the TFS 2010 SDK a lot recently to create new Visual Studio Extensions. You can find these extensions in the Visual Studio Gallery. If you're a developer/programmer, you should check it out, they have some pretty cool tools out there. I'd be surprised if you told me you went there and couldn't find any tools that could help you. One of the new extensions Cory and I made is called TFS Auto Shelve. Check out the description and read about it below. You can download it here: http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/080540cb-e35f-4651-b71c-86c73e4a633d   Here's a description and screenshots of what it does: Automatically shelves the latest version of all pending changes from local TFS workspaces to the TFS Server every "x" number of minutes when solutions are opened.   ·         Purpose o    Created for Team Foundation Server 2010 and Visual Studio 2010 o    This tool is mainly aimed at the Programmer/Developer audience so they can always have the latest copy of their pending changes backed up to the TFS Server while coding ·         Functionality o    Menu options become active and automatic shelving begins when a solution that mapped to a TFS Workspace is opened in Visual Studio o    In Tools > TFS Auto Shelve (Running/NotRunning):  Automatic shelving can be turned on/off o    In Tools > TFS Auto Shelve Now : Shelve all code can be manually triggered o    Each TFS workspace has its own shelveset which is re-used to save the latest version of pending changes o    Shelvesets are named as Base Name + Workspace Name o    Shelveset comment contains item count o    If there are no pending changes, no shelvesets will be created/updated o    If a solution is opened that is not mapped to a TFS Workspace, menu options are disabled since shelving only works for mapped workspaces. ·         Configuration o    In Tools > Options > TFS Auto Shelve Options: Base Name is configurable o    In Tools > Options > TFS Auto Shelve Options: "x" number of minutes is configurable in options ·         Logging o    Custom Visual Studio Activity Logging is implemented. If you run into any errors, please startup Visual Studio with the /log switch, re-create the error, then close Visual Studio. You can browse to “%AppData%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\ActivityLog.XML” to view the log.
