    executing the following query in SQL management studio provides results, whereas it does not via cfquery... select distinct locationid, locationname, locationaliasname from vwLocationsWithAlias where 1 = 0 or (LocationName = N'the' or LocationAliasName = N'the') or (LocationName = N'the republic' or LocationAliasName = N'the republic') The results expected are returned from SQL Mgmt Studio, but nothing is returned from CFQuery. WTF!?

  • Query an XmlDocument without getting a 'Namespace prefix is not defined' problem

    I've got an Xml document that both defines and references some namespaces. I load it into an XmlDocument object and to the best of my knowledge I create a XmlNamespaceManager object with which to query Xpath against. Problem is I'm getting XPath exceptions that the namespace "my" is not defined. How do I get the namespace manager to see that the namespaces I am referencing are already defined. Or rather how do I get the namespace definitions from the document to the namespace manager. Furthermore tt strikes me as strange that you have to provide a namespace manager to the document which you create from the documents nametable in the first place. Even if you need to hardcode manual namespaces why can't you add them directly to the document. Why do you always have to pass this namespace manager with every single query? What can't XmlDocument just know?     I have to tables as follows; Employees: Name nvarchar(50), Job Title nvarchar(50) and Salary int. Employers: Name nvarchar(50), Job Title nvarchar(50) I would like to select every item from the 'Employers' table where 'Job Title' does NOT show up in the 'Employees' table.     Hi all, I want to use parameter for query like this : SELECT * FROM MATABLE WHERE MT_ID IN (368134, 181956) so I think about this SELECT * FROM MATABLE WHERE MT_ID IN (:MYPARAM) but it doesn't work... Is there a way to do this ? I actually use IBX and Firebird 2.1 I don't know how many parameters in IN clause.

    Hi, I have two tables: Contact (id,name) Link (id, contact_id, source_id) I have the following query which works that returns the contacts with the source_id of 8 in the Link table. SELECT name FROM `Contact` LEFT JOIN Link ON Link.contact_id = Contact.id WHERE Link.source_id=8; However I am a little stumped on how to return a list of all the contacts which are NOT associated with source_id of 8. A simple != will not work as contacts without any links are not returned. Thanks.

    If I am doing a search in sharepoint, some of the results I'm expecting are not being returned. I believe its because in active directory these entries may not have all the fields. So a name that doesn't have the givenName attribute set in active directory is not being returned from this query. Is there a way I can get this to work like I expected?     I am not sure how to best describe what I am trying to do (or search for it for that matter) but I am going to try. I have a pre-existing query (stored procedure) that returns items based on 3 specific ID's. What I want to do is to be able to reduce the results even further based upon a column within the results having the exact same string. For some reason I am confused about how to do this, I am drawing a complete blank about this. Please help
