• php string search - grabbing specific urls

  Hello, I have this string that may contain some urls that I need to grab. For instance, if the user does: www.youtube ... or www.vimeo ... or http://www.youtube ... or HttP://WwW.viMeo I need to grab it (until he finds a space perhaps). and store it on a already created array. The need is to separate the vimeo links from the youtube ones and place each of those on the appropriate video object. I'm not sure if this is possible, I mean, if the URL coming from the browser could be used to be placed on a predefined video object. If it is, then this is the way to go (so I believe). If all this is feasible, can I have your help in order to build such a rule? Thanks in advance

• Autostart application/process in WP7

  How is it possible to auto start my application or run a process when the user turns on the phone. If you look at ex. Outloock WP7 included in the operating system then updates the icon so that you can see that there are new mail. This is a process in the background running. But I've read a bit about this now, but can not find out that this is possible using the SDK from Microsoft? Is it not possible?? If possible, how does one do that? Notice: I do not want any solution that involves jailbreak.

• How come the [L] flag isn't working in my .htaccess file?

  Here are the rules: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^$ index.php?action=home [L] RewriteRule ^[\w\W]*$ error.php [L] When a page matches the first one, it is supposed to ignore any other further rules. Yet accessing / results in error.php being invoked. Commenting out the second rule works as intended - the page redirects to index.php. What am I doing wrong? Also: is there a better way to write the last line? It's basically a catch-all.

• Accessing primitive properties from objects stored in a NSDictionary

  Apologies if this is a basic question, I am just starting with Objective-C and trying to wrap things around in my head! I have a simple class of the form: @interface Whatever : NSObject { int somePrimitive; SomeObject* someObject; } @property (nonatomic) int somePrimitive; @property (nonatomic, retain) SomeObject* someObject; The class is more involved that this, but this illustrates the purpose. When I store instances of this class in a NSMutableDictionary: Whatever *whatever = [[Whatever alloc] init]; whatever.somePrimitive = 1; whatever.someObject = ...; [myDictionary setObject:whatever forKey:@"someKey"]; and then try to retrieve the object later: Whatever *result = [myDictionary valueForKey:@"someKey"]; then, result.someObject is ok to reference but, result.somePrimitive crashes. Does the NSDictionary not copy over the primitives of the object? Is the rule that the object stored in a dictionary should only contain objects?

• Automatically save CSS changes made to existing styles in Chrome dev tools?

  I've already mapped the necessary files to the local resource - however, while that does allow me to save any changes made to a file in the Sources panel, I was wondering if it's possible to automatically save changes to CSS made in the Elements panel. Otherwise at the moment, any changes made to the style in the Elements panel seem to exist only there. I remember at some point there used to be a little indicator of the file and line number next to a class/id etc. in the Styles tab of the Elements panel - surely it can't be that hard to simply 'update' any changes to that style rule considering Chrome knows exactly where it's coming from (in the case that it's a stylesheet and not an inline style?). It would be a great relief to my workflow. The answers to this similar question are obsolete.

• Using ANTLR with Left-Recursive Rules

  Basically Ive written a Parse for a language with just basic arithmetic operators ( +, -, * / ) etc, but for the minus and plus cases, the Abstract Syntax Tree which is generated has parsed them as right associative when they need to be left associative. Having a googled for a solution, i found a tutorial that suggests rewriting the rule from: Expression ::= Expression <operator> Term | Term as Expression ::= Term <operator> Expression*. However in my head this seems to generate the tree the wrong way round. Any pointers on a way to resolve this issue?

• maintain formatting entered into an html form?

  Im setting up a web form, and I'm trying to have it where visitors can paste their resumes into a text area. Then I want to email the info using php mail(). But the resume info is just stored in the variable as one long string with no formatting. Is there a way I can send the pasted resume text to the client in the resume format? Maintaining all the line breaks and stuff? He wants to avoid having people upload resumes.

• Apache mod_rewrite help with Wordpress

  I administer my wife's site, namelymarly.com. Up until last week, the root page of the blog was namelymarly.com/blog/. Last week I changed it in the WP settings to be namelymarly.com. WP created the new htaccess file, and I moved the index.php to the root directory (but left the WP folder where it was in the /blog/ directory), as instructed. Everything is working great except for one very important thing: When you type 'namelymarly.com/blog/' into a browser now, you get a 404 error. All other URLs, when they include the '/blog/somethinghere', will redirect properly to '/somethinghere.' It's only when there's nothing after '/blog/' that there's a problem. I tried adding this rule but it breaks the site: RewriteRule ^/blog(/|)$ / Any suggestions/help?

• SMS Through Email

  I know this is a subject that has been well covered here and throughout the web, so I am not asking for a list of carrier emails, however my question is how to send a text without knowing the users carrier and preferably without going through a third party. The only solution that I thought of would be send out to all carriers. I would only be sending to US carriers, however would a large number of failed emails slow the mail server at all or cause any other problems? Any advice on this solution or thoughts of others would be great.

  I've heard that it is a bad idea to do something like this. But I am sure there is some rule of thumb which can help to get that right. When I iterate over an NSMutableDictionary or NSMutableArray often I need to get rid of entries. Typical case: You iterate over it, and compare the entry against something. Sometimes the result is "don't need anymore" and you have to remove it. But doing so affects the index of all the rows, doesn't it? So how could I safely iterate over it without accidently exceeding bounds or jumping over an element that hasn't been checked?

  I'm looking for a formula or rule that will allow me to distribute n characters into a n*n grid with as perfect of a distribution as possible. Let's say we have an array of 5 characters, A through E. Here's an example of how it definitely shouldn't turn out: A B C D E B C D E A C D E A B D E A B C E A B C D The pattern is very clear here, it doesn't look "random". It would look better this way: A B C D E D E A B C B C D E A E A B C D C D E A B What I basically did here was place the A B C D E on the first row, then shift it by 2 on the second row, by 4 on the third row, 1 on the fourth row and 3 on the fifth row. Compared to the very bad example, this one shows no clear pattern. Though I'm certainly hoping there is a pattern, so I can use it to calculate not only small arrays such as this one, but arrays of any size. Any ideas as to how this can be accomplished?

• Using different validation rules based on user input.

  I have a simple form: a combobox and a textbox. My combobox has 2 values: A and B. When value A is selected I want textbox to use a validation rule. When value B is selected there should be no validation rules applied to the textbox. I've read an article that has a solution and I'm trying to use it, but had no luck so far, and I think there might be a more elegant solution. Has anyone done anything like this before?   Core Data is calling these methods in certain situations: - (BOOL)validateForInsert:(NSError **)outError; - (BOOL)validateForUpdate:(NSError **)outError; - (BOOL)validateForDelete:(NSError **)outError; I wonder if they're doing anything different, or if they're essentially doing the exact same things. As far as I know, these methods call the -validateValue:forKey:error: method once for every property. The only difference I can imagine is in the .validateForDelete: method. I see no reason why to validate an object when it shall be deleted, except for applying delete rules, probably only in the case of the DENY rule.

• Problem with Firefox, javascript, and Canvas

  I'm having a Firefox-specific issue with a script I wrote to create 3d layouts. The correct behavior is that the script pulls the background-color from an element and then uses that color to draw on the canvas. When a user mouses over a link and the background-color changes to the :hover rule, the color being drawn changes on the canvas changes as well. When the user mouses out, the color should revert back to non-hover color. This works as expected in Webkit browsers and Opera, but Firefox chokes on it if mouseout is triggered and no mouseover event follows it.   I have my domain say "example.com" (java, GlassFish Web Server) Now I have 3 application.. say A,B,C. Now what I want is, if user hit a.example.com OR example.com/X then A application should get invoked. similarly for B and C. b.example.com or example.com/B, c.example.com or example.com/C. like mail.google.com news.google.com.   I'm doing operation on a dataset containing data from a sql table named Test_1 and then get the updated records using the DataSet.GetChanges(DataRowState.Modified) function. Then i try to save the dataset containing the updated records on a different table than the source one (the table is names Test and has the same structure as Test_1) using the following statement: sqlDataAdapter.Update(changesDataSet,"Test"); I'm getting the following error : Update unable to find TableMapping['Test'] or DataTable 'Test' I'm new to ado.net and don't even know if it"s something possible. Any advice is welcome. Just to provide a bit of context. ETL jobs are importing data in temp table with same structure as the original but with _jobid suffix. Right after a rule engine is doing validation before updating the original table.

It seems there's no way to learn style information from CSS rules without having an example of the rule already in the document, which would require you to animate the <li> to the target appearance, then in the animation-finished callback, set the class which leads to redundant style declarations and can foul up your CSS at "runtime". Sorry if this question's unclear: It doesn't occur in the context of any specific project, I'm just curious how you'd go about this. Also, I know CSS3 hypothetically includes support for such transitions but using CSS for dynamic behavior like this seems such an ugly hack.

• Distribution of many small classes

  Hi All, I have a base class called EventArgs. Derived from this are many, many specializations that represent event arguments for a particular kind of event. Consumers of these events may need some, many, or very few of these argument classes. My question is, would you provide a header file for each type (e.g, 50+ header files for the varying ones), would you try to group them in to families and have a 'common' header file for those, or would you throw caution to the window and throw them in to one easy-of-use header file that can just be included? Another approach might be to have 50 header files, and then I could introduce some "family" header files that included particular ones. Not sure about the naming conventions for these kinds of things so it is obvious what is where. I know there may not be a hard and fast rule, but wondering what other developers have done when they find themselves writing many little classes. Thanks in advance.
