    I know that with an InnoDB table, transactions are autocommit, however I understand that to mean for a single statement? For example, I want to check if a user exists in a table, and then if it doesn't, create it. However there lies a race condition. I believe using a transaction prior to doing the select, will ensure that the table remains untouched until the subsequent insert, and the transaction is committed. How can you do this with MySQLdb and Python?

Example: On weekdays (mon-fri), I would like to output text according to the following periods of time (24H, server time, UTC): 00:00-08:00: "Lorem ipsum" 08:00-13:00: "dolor sit amet" 13:00-15:00: "Pellentesque habitant" 15:00-15:30: "dolor sit amet" 15:30-24:00: "Lorem ipsum" On weekends (sat-sun), I would like to output the following text in this time period: 00:00-24:00 "Lorem ipsum" Can anyone help with a php script to do that? I've already gotten some help over at the css-tricks forum.     I'm working on a project that involves KML creation using Java. Currently, I'm fooling with the sample Java code from the KML example at Micromata Labs JAK Example. I tried to "extend" the code by adding multiple coordinates and getting two markers, but I could not get it to work. Can you please tell me how I can add multiple coordinates and put markers on them, and also, draw a line between the markers. Thank you for your help! PS: I need to do this via the program. I saw sample code of them using DOM and XML, but not pure Java/JAK as such. Please guide me. I got as far as this: kml .createAndSetDocument().withName("My Markers"). createAndAddPlacemark().withName("London, UK").withOpen(Boolean.TRUE) .createAndSetPoint().addToCoordinates(-0.126236, 51.500152); kml.createAndSetPlacemark() .withName("Somewhere near London, UK").withOpen(Boolean.TRUE) .createAndSetPoint().addToCoordinates(-0.129800,52.700152); But I know I'm going wrong somewhere.   • How to deploy to multiple redundant production servers with "cap deploy"?

    Capistrano is working great to deploy to a single server. However, I have multiple production API servers for my web application. When I deploy, my code needs to get deployed to every API server at once. Specifying each server manually is NOT the solution I am looking for (e.g. I don't want to do "cap api1 deploy; cap api2 deploy"). Is there a way, using Capistrano, to deploy to all servers at once, with just a simple "cap deploy"? I'm wondering what changes I would need to make to a typical deploy.rb file, whether I'd need to create a separate file for each server, and whether and how the Capfile would need to be changed. Also, I need to be able to specify a different deploy_to path for each server. And ideally, I wouldn't have to repeat things in different config files for different servers (eg. wouldn't have to specify :repository, :application, etc. multiple times). I have spent hours searching Google on this and looking through tutorials, but I have found nothing helpful.   • NUnit - Multiple properties of the same name? Linking to requirements

    I'm linking all our our System Tests to test cases and to our Requirements. Every requirement has an ID. Every Test Case / System Tests tests a variety of requirements. Every module of code links to multiple requirements. I'm trying to find the best way to link every system test to its driving requirements. I was hoping to do something like: [NUnit.Framework.Property("Release", "6.0.0")] [NUnit.Framework.Property("Requirement", "FR50082")] [NUnit.Framework.Property("Requirement", "FR50084")] [NUnit.Framework.Property("Requirement", "FR50085")] [TestCase(....)] public void TestSomething(string a, string b...) However, that will break because Property is a Key-Value pair. The system will not allow me to have multiple Properties with the same key. The reason I'm wanting this is to be able to test specific requirements in our system if a module changes that touches these requirements. Rather than run over 1,000 system tests on every build, this would allow us to target what to test based on changes done to our code. Some system tests run upwards of 5 minutes (Enterprise healthcare system), so "Just run all of them" isn't a viable solution. We do that, but only before promoting through our environments. Thoughts?

  • How can I make VS2010 insert using statements in the order dictated by StyleCop rules.

    The related default StyleCop rules are: Place using statements inside namespace. Sort using statements alphabetically. But ... System using come first (still trying to figure out if that means just using System; or using System[.*];). So, my use case: I find a bug and decide that I need to at least add an intelligible Assert to make debugging less painful for the next guy. So I start typing Debug.Assert( and intellisense marks it in Red. I hover mouse over Debug and between using System.Diagnostics; and System.Diagnostics.Debug I choose the former. This inserts using System.Diagnostics; after all other using statements. It would be nice if VS2010 did not assist me in writing code that won't build due to warnings as errors. How can I make VS2010 smarter? Is there some sort of setting, or does this require a full-fledged add-in of some sort?

I'm building win app with EF by adding edmx as data source then drag and drop the tables to get navigator and binding source .. when I press the add button in the navigator it allows me to enter new data but when I save the context I get NULL data for all fields except the auto increment field ( the ID field ).... What should I do to save many entries ...? DO I have to loop over all the entities in the binding source and add them to the context ??     Hi, I've got a collection of object which contains data as follows: FromTime Duration 2010-12-28 24.0000 2010-12-29 24.0000 2010-12-30 24.0000 2010-12-31 22.0000 2011-01-02 1.9167 2011-01-03 24.0000 2011-01-04 24.0000 2011-01-05 24.0000 2011-01-06 24.0000 2011-01-07 22.0000 2011-01-09 1.9167 2011-01-10 24.0000 In the "FromTime" column, there are data "gaps" i.e. 2011-01-01 and 2011-01-08 are "missing". So what I'd like to do is to loop through a range of dates (in this instance 2010-12-28 to 2011-01-10) and "fill in" the "missing" data with a duration of 0. As I've just started with LINQ, I feel that it should be "fairly" easy but I can't quite get it right. I'm reading the book "LINQ in Action" but feel that I'm still quite a way off before I can resolve this particular issue. So any help would be much appreciated. David

    I am customizing the insert SQL generated by hibernate and have hit an issue. When Hibernate generates the query by itself, it inserts data into the first two columns of the table, but this causes a database error since all four columns of the table are non-nullable. For the insert to be performed properly, it must insert the same data into two columns of the new record. This means that I need Hibernate to bind the same data to two different parameters in the query (prepared statement) that I am writing. Is there some SQL syntax that allows me to refer to anonymous parameters bound to a prepared statement in an order different from which they are bound?     For the first time I am needing to join information from two tables and am quite nervous about doing it without any advice first. Basically, I am building a secure site that is accessed by authorised users. I have my login table with user_id, username, password Once the user is on the site, they have the option of inputting data into another table called input. At the moment this table only captures the information that is entered, not the user_id or username of the inputter. I would like the form to be able to input the user_id and/or username from the login table into the input table. Please could somebody talk me through this process? I am sure that once this is amended, I will then be able to use the table to only allow the logged in user to access the information that he or she have inputted, is that correct? Many thanks

    I'm rather new with the whole OSX programming, I wanted to stick a WebView into an empty app. Apparently it isn't as simple as sticking a WebView on a window in interface builder and creating an outlet. IBOutlet WebView *webView; It gives me a expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'WebView' and when I don't use an outlet, it terminates due to uncaught exception. I'm not too sure what these error messages mean. Seems it isn't that simple!
