  • New to Drupal -- how should I create a main page with a mix of dynamic and static content?

    I apologize for the terribly basic question but I'm not even a particularly adept web dev. I've read that Drupal is great if you know exactly what you want to do (then the API is handy) but I don't even know what I need yet. That is what I am hoping to gain from this discussion. I want a main content page which has a fancy content slider (using jQuery or something) which will be a selector for showing some basic information on these 2 or 3 subjects. I'm stuck on where I should be writing this mix of markup. In the template? Create "content" through a content type? Since there's a fair share of CSS and markup required to do this, I don't know if I can do that through the "basic page" content type that was there. I'm looking for pointers that can teach me how I would become aware of what Drupal can and can not do. Thanks for reading, let me know if I need to clarify anything.

Props to the answerer, but my question is about doing that same thing but also sending a keyword to search in the pdf. I have no idea how to do this, should I set a flag? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to "reset" subviews of scrollview for new items?

    I have a MasterViewController displaying Items. Selecting an Item (ItemA), displays images of ItemA in a DetailViewController. The DeatilViewController contains a scrollView, displaying all the images. When tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath is called, the images is added to an UIImageView, that is tagged and added as a subview to a scrollview. NSUInteger i; for (i = 1; i <= numberOfImages; i++) { NSString *imageName = [ItemAImages objectAtIndex:i-1]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:imageName]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; imageView.tag = i; [scrollView addSubview:imageView]; } Works fine. But when I go back to the MasterViewController, and selects a ItemB, the ItemA is still displayed, like the iPhone simulator refuses to forget the previous scrollview,containing ItemA images. I have tried [subview removeFromSuperview]; which results in either no scrollview at all, or no effect. Depending on when this method is called. How can I "reset" the scrollview for the next Item?

  • How can I wait for the image to load in my new window before printing via child.print()?

  • Applescript for a Newbie: Copy file to a new folder.

    Hi there! I've also posted this on the macnn forums, but thought I may get a better response here. I was hoping to find some help with using applescript (something I have never tried before, though I have a good knowledge of php etc) I need to create an applescript that will copy specified files from one folder to a newly created folder. These files need to be specified in the applescript. so something like: start fileToBeMoved = "Desktop/Test Folder 1/test.doc" newfoldername = "Test Folder 2" make newfolder and name it 'newfoldername' copy 'fileToBeMoved' to 'newfolder' end I'm so sorry for the rubbish description!     Hi all. I have a script in php 5.2. I want to use a simple form. I found something a programmer made for me about 5 years ago. When I use it, PHP outputs an error now unless I set register_long_arrays = On, then it works fine. On the PHP website, however, it says: Warning This feature has been DEPRECATED as of PHP 5.3.0. Relying on this feature is highly discouraged. It's recommended to turn them off, for performance reasons. Instead, use the superglobal arrays, like $_GET. Should I listen to PHP's warning, or just enable the option and keep using my old form happily? If the former, then how/where do I change this simple form, so it does not rely on the deprecated setting?     Hy, I was thinking that all my website will have use of cells, using the known plugin cell for rails, so this is my idea: A table that contains 3 fields: id, view_name and layout. the layout will be a serialized hash. When a request is made, the layout field is requested and then in the view, default layout, will be unserialized the layout var, that looks like this: @layout[:sidecol][:gallery] = {... some params for it...}; @layout[:maincol][:comments] = {..params...}; In the <% #ruby code to render the cells in the @layout[:sidecol] % will be some ruby code that will loop over the @layout[:sidecol] and render all cells in it. the same occurs in the maincol div. What do you think? Positive in my opinion: More modular controller is used only for post easy change of structure easier to implement some kind of traking to see diferences on what layout is better or not. Negative: not found yet

  • Mapping element via joining table with NHibernate

    This is stuff ive done lots of times before but my mind is just blanking at the moment, i will try and give a simple overview of my current situation. I currently have 3 tables as shown below: Office > id, name Person > id, name Office_Personnel > office_id, person_id I then have a model for Person (id, name) and Office, however the Office model contains personnel information: public class Office { int Id {get;set;} string Name {get;set;} ICollection<Person> Personnel {get;set;} } Mapping person is easy, but now im a bit stumped as to why office wont map properly. I chose to use a set when I was mapping the Personnel as there shouldn't be any duplicates, however it doesn't seem to work as I would expect... <set name="Personnel" table="office_personnel" cascade="all"> <key column="office_id" /> <one-to-many class="Person"/> </set> Now one thing that strikes me as odd is that there is no indication as to what person should be binding to (person_id). It keeps trying to find *office_id* column within the Person table. I'm sure this is just some simple problem and im being an idiot, but any help would be great! On a side note, I was weighing up if I should even bother having a middle man table, as I could directly put an Office_Id column within the Person table, but im not 100% sure if in my real project the Person class could be in multiple Offices further down the line...

  • New to VS.net (VB.net) 2008. Windows 7 aero glass stuff.

    Hey all, i have been using VB.net 2008 for a few months and i have a question. I compiled my program and ran it in a VM running windows 7. However, the progress bar looks like it does in XP. It doesn't have that cool look to it like I've seen in many other programs running in windows 7. I have downloaded the 3.5 .net framework with sp1 and also the sdk for windows 7 (1.4+ gb dvd) but i still see nothing. Is there a check-box i am missing in VS 2008 to enable these types of features? Maybe some type of code i need to place in the program? Thanks! David

  • which is better, creating a view or a new table?

    I have some demanding mysql queries that are needed to grap same datasets from several mysql tables. I am thinking of creating a table or view to gather all demanding columns from other tables, so as to increase performance. If I create that table, I may need to do extra insert / update / delete operation each time other tables updated. if I create view, I am worrying if the performance can be greatly improved. Because data from other tables are changing very frequently. Most likely, the view may need to be created first everytime before selecting it. Any ideas? e.g. how to cache? other extra measures I can do?

  • SEO Problem for new dictionary site, google hasn't indexed content.

    I loaded about 15,000 pages, letters A & B of a dictionary and submitted to google a text site map. I'm using google's search with advertisement as the planned mechanism to go through my site. Google's webmaster accepted the site mapps as good but then did not index. My index page has been indexed by google and at this point have not linked to any pages. So to get google's search to work I need to get all my content indexed. It appears google will not just index from the site map and so I was thinking of adding pages that spider in links from the main index page. But I don't want to create a bunch of pages that programicly link all of the pages without knowing if this has a chance to work. Eventually I plan on having about 150,000 pages each page being a word or phrase being defined. I wrote a program that is pulling this from a dictionary database. I would like to prove the content that I have to anyone interested to show the value of the dictionary in releation to the dictionary software that I'm completing. Suggestions for getting the entire site indexed by google so I can appear in the search results? Thanks

    Alright. My app has a text field and next to it are two buttons (Plus button and Equals button). When you press the "Plus" button, it takes the text inside of the textField and adds a "+" to it. Code below: - (IBAction)plusButtonPressed:(id)sender { NSString *plusString = @"+"; NSString *inputString = carbsField.text; NSString *outputString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%@",inputString,plusString]; NSLog(@"%@",outputString); [carbsField setText:outputString]; } I will eventually make that more intelligent so that I can't put two pluses or whatever. Anyway, then I want the equal button to take whatever is in the textField, which should look something like: "23+54+2.2" and get the sum of those values. I believe I know how to take an Integer and make it a String, but I want to verify it: int *value = 56; NSString *string = @"%d",value; Well, if anyone can show me how to do this, I would be very appreciative. Thanks. EDIT At the moment, I have not tried anything. This is because I do not know where to start. I have an idea of what to do, but I do not know how to execute it. I believe I need to get all characters before a "+" convert them into int and then get the sum of some array of those values.

    I am trying to make C# launch an application (in this case open office), and start sending that application keypresses such that it would appear as though someone is typing. So ideally, I would be able to send a running open office process the keypress for the letter "d", and open office would then type d on the paper. Can anyone give me direction as per how to go about this? I have tried to do the following: p = new Process(); p.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = true; p.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = false; p.StartInfo.FileName = processNames.executableName; p.Start(); p.StandardInput.Write("hello"); But that doesn't get me the desired effect - I don't see the text typed out in open office.
