• Suggestions for a good IDE for DB2

  Hi all, I know, I know... it's a horrible fate but I am forced to work in an environment with DB2 on the back end. OK just kidding but the truth is I do like MSSQL's data studio a lot, and well IBM's tool is sorda crummy in my opinion... I was using the free version of Toad but I just got a new 64bit machine which is nice and all but there isn't a free version of Toad that I can find for win7 64. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good IDE to use with DB2? Being a developer I really just do a lot of looking at the DB structure and querying to see what I get back and how I want to get things back etc... Thanks for any advice!

• Help with Magento and related products

  I have a customer product page that literally lives beside the catalog/product/view.phtml page. It's basically identical to that page with a few small exceptions. It's basically a 'product of the day' type page so I can't combine it with the regular product page since I have to fetch the data from the DB and perform a load to get the product information $_product = Mage::getModel('catalog/product')->load($row['productid']); To make a long story short, everything works (including all children html blocks) with the singular exception of the related products. After the load I save the product into the registry with Mage::register('product', $_product); and then attempt to load the related products with: echo $this->getLayout()->createBlock('catalog/product_view')->setTemplate('catalog/product/list/related.phtml')->toHtml();` All of which give back the error: Fatal error: Call to a member function getSize() on a non-object in catalog/product/list/related.phtml on line 29`, and line 29 is <?php if($this->getItems()->getSize()): ?>`. Any help getting the relateds to load would be appreicated.

  Hello, I have a form that has two field (time_selects), the idea is that the user can select the beginning of a call and end time of the call. • How to batch retrieve documents with mongoDB?

  Hello everyone, I have an application that queries data from a mongoDB using the mongoDB C# driver something like this: public void main() { foreach (int i in listOfKey) { list.add(getObjectfromDB(i); } } public myObject getObjFromDb(int primaryKey) { document query = new document(); query["primKey"] = primaryKey; document result= mongo["myDatabase"]["myCollection"].findOne(query); return parseObject(result); } On my local (development) machine to get 100 object this way takes less than a second. However, I recently moved the database to a server on the internet, and this query takes about 30 seconds to execute for the same number of object. Furthermore, looking at the mongoDB log, it seems to open about 8-10 connections to the DB to perform this query. So what I'd like to do is have the query the database for an array of primaryKeys and get them all back at once, then do the parsing in a loop afterwards, using one connection if possible. How could I optimize my query to do so? Thanks, --Michael

For example, if a deals status changes from pending to win, I want to show it, and if the value goes up or down, I want to show it, that kind of thing. Also, if you open the overview page, I want it to show the history of changes. So I need some kind of change logging, to be able to look in the past. How do I do this? It is a rails project, but I think that's irrelevant.

• VS 2010 Entity Repository Error

  In my project I have it set up so that all the tables in the DB has the property "id" and then I have the entity objects inherit from the EntityBase class using a repository pattern. I then set the inheritance modifier for "id" property in the dbml file o/r designer to "overrides" Public MustInherit Class EntityBase MustOverride Property id() As Integer End Class Public MustInherit Class RepositoryBase(Of T As EntityBase) Protected _Db As New DataClasses1DataContext Public Function GetById(ByVal Id As Integer) As T Return (From a In _Db.GetTable(Of T)() Where a.id = Id).SingleOrDefault End Function End Class Partial Public Class Entity1 Inherits EntityBase End Class Public Class TestRepository Inherits RepositoryBase(Of Entity1) End Class the line Return (From a In _Db.GetTable(Of T)() Where a.id = Id).SingleOrDefault however produces the error "Class member EntityBase.id is unmapped" when i use VS 2010 using the 4.0 framework but I never received that error with the old one. • Are SqlCipher open cursors a security concern?

  I'm using SqlCipher with content providers. Right now, when I want to lock the app I just clear out the cached password. However, the app can continue to work with any open cursors. This means that re-opening the app grants access to the sensitive data. I fix this issue on the surface by redirecting to a login screen if the app doesn't have passwords. However, I'm concerned if there are any security issues with these open cursors or if I should just continue to block UI access and not worry? SqlCipher's docs say that it reads/writes encrypted pages on the fly, as opposed to decrypting the entire DB, this makes me think that open cursors are still secure. The main concern here is that someone loses their phone and then a knowledgeable individual can use these open cursors to extract sensitive data.

  I follow the direction in here How to configure SQL Server to manage ASP.NET sessions to create ASPState db. I have 2 web application in IIS 7. In IIS web application setting, i go to "Session State" and set session state as "SQL Server" and provide connection string. In each web application web.config, i add <sessionState mode="SQLServer" allowCustomSqlDatabase="false" sqlConnectionString="data source=server;user id=user;password=password" cookieless="false" timeout="7200" /> I create a session , Session["Data"] = "test" in Web App A and go to Web App B in the same browser to print it Response.Write(Session["Data"]); It shows NOTHING. I can see there are data in table : ASPStateTempApplications and ASPStateTempSessions under ASPState Database. Also, i dont see any error in event log. Can anyone think anything i may do wrong? • Javascript get li values and encode them

  At the moment I have two (maybe more) unordered lists which are sortable with jquery and ui. The things that work are that the lists are connected, items are draggable, items can be removed and a form that adds to the list. What I need however is a function that gets all the content for li items and json encode them ready to be sent off to some db function, or something. Im new to jquery however and cant find documentation for li items. Hope Ive explained this well. Daniel

  I've got a table in a testing DB that someone apparently got a little too trigger-happy on when running INSERT scripts to set it up. The schema looks like this: ID UNIQUEIDENTIFIER TYPE_INT SMALLINT SYSTEM_VALUE SMALLINT NAME VARCHAR MAPPED_VALUE VARCHAR It's supposed to have a few dozen rows. It has about 200,000, most of which are duplicates in which TYPE_INT, SYSTEM_VALUE, NAME and MAPPED_VALUE are all identical and ID is not. Now, I could probably make a script to clean this up that creates a temporary table in memory, uses INSERT .. SELECT DISTINCT to grab all the unique values, TRUNCATE the original table and then copy everything back. But is there a simpler way to do it, like a DELETE query with something special in the WHERE clause?

  I'm in this project: A web page that's gonna be used by the front-end company people to query and update data from a SQL DB. I'm working with visual studio and the code behind (C#) is almost done, so the interactions between SQL and C# and ok. My original idea was to work with ASP.NET which is familiar to me, but that's not gonna be possible. I have to switch to PHP. So, today is my first day learning PHP, checking http://php.net/manual/en/index.php and a lot of things seem quite similar to ASP.NET so I guess it won't be that hard. Anyways, some questions popped up quite fast as I wanted to script something else than a "hello world" . Is there an easy way to get/send C# variables from my class using a php page? I've read soemthing about using XML in order to do so, but still I'm scratching my head, is there another, easier, way to do this?

• Streaming data to the browser as a file of unknown size

  I have some data which is queried from the database and I'd like to send it to the client as a csv file. The file size varies each time due to the fact that the DB data returned can be of any size. Instead of saving this file to the hard disk, I'd like to send it to the browser at the same time it's being processed into a CSV by my algorithm. Response.Write seems useless. For some reason, the file download dialog is only displayed once my processing is finished. This seems odd as I'm writting all my output to the Response.Output stream. I have downloaded files on the web before where the filesize is not known and the browser just keeps on downloading. Is there any way to achieve this?   I work with Delphi 6 and SQL Server 2008. With Windows Vista everything runs ok. But since i change my OS to Windows 7 all my projects started to show a message when i'm trying to compile them that says "Stored procedure (SPname). Doesn't found or doesn't exist in the server. I look my server and it has the Sp with the correct name. i used ODBC connection and try the SQL Server and the SQL Native client 10.0 but the problem continues. the projects connect to the D.B with no problem until i try to run a SP. if i run the same projects in a vista again they work fine. If any of you can help me i really appreciate.......

• Database design efficiency with 1 to many relationships limited 1 to 3

  This is in mysql, but its a database design issue. If you have a one to many relationship, like a bank customer to bank-accounts, typically you would have the table that records the bank-account information have a foreign key that keeps track of the relationship between account and customer. Now this follows the 3rd normal form thing and is a widely accepted way of doing it. Now lets say that you are going to limit a user to only having 3 accounts. The current database implementation will support this and nothing would need to change. But another way to do this would have 3 coloms in the account table that have the id of the 3 respective accounts in them. By the way this violates 1st normal form of db design. The question is what would be the advantage and disadvantages of having the user account relationship recored in this way over the traditional?

  Hello, I have an attribute which is annotated with @Id. The ID is going to be generated automatically when persisting the object. That means that the ID-value is not defined before I persist the object. After persisting it, it has an ID (in the database), but unfortunately the field still remains null as long as I don't reload it from the DB. is there any easy way to find out the generated id? • Why await is not taken in consideration after deploy?

  I have a method which does some sync calls to a specific REST api, something like: WSRequestHolder url = WS.url("rest_api_url"); Promise<WS.Response> promisePerPage = url.get(); promisePerPage.getWrappedPromise().await(3000, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS); WS.Response responsePerPage = promisePerPage.get(); ProductsWrapper productsWrapper = new Gson().fromJson(responsePerPage.getBody(), ProductsWrapper.class); As you notice, I put 3 seconds between calls so each request can be parsed in time and inserted in DB. All works great locally but after I deploy to cloud, all goes continuously, without any more waiting (3 seconds) between requests... Do you know why?

• Perl launched from Java takes forever

  I know this is an absolute shot in the dark, but we're absolutely perplexed. A perl (5.8.6) script run by Java (1.5) is taking more than an hour to complete. The same script, when run manually from the command line takes 12 minutes to complete. This is on a Linux host. Logging is the same in both cases and the script is run with the same parameters in both cases. The script does some complex stuff like Oracle DB access, some scp's, etc, but again, it does the exact same actions in both cases. We're stumped. Has anyone ever run into a similar situation? If not and if you were faced with the same situation, how would you consider debugging it?

• Anonymous iterator blocks in Clojure?

  I am using clojure.contrib.sql to fetch some records from an SQLite database. (defn read-all-foo [] (with-connection *db* (with-query-results res ["select * from foo"] (into [] res)))) Now, I don't really want to realize the whole sequence before returning from the function (i.e. I want to keep it lazy), but if I return res directly or wrap it some kind of lazy wrapper (for example I want to make a certain map transformation on result sequence), SQL-related bindings will be reset and connection will be closed after I return, so realizing the sequence will throw an exception. How can I enclose the whole function in a closure and return a kind of anonymous iterator block (like yield in C# or Python)? Or is there another way to return a lazy sequence from this function?

Some scripts are easily tracked to specific projects, whereas others are "convenience" functions created to serve a set of tasks.   I am developing an application and need to read the users call history from iPhone.I have go though all the forums and google it and found that we can get the records from teh callHistory sqlite database by "private/var/root/Library/CallHistory/call_history.db". But this path is not working from iOS 5 and above. Seems like apple has changed all their database path and structure so that no one can accees it. I have also seen some of the application on iTunes who are capable of getting the users call history like:-https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/callog/id327883585?mt=8 I have also check a mac desktop utility called "WonderShare Dr.Fone" which will fetch all the data from your iPhone like call history messages, notes , etc.How this utility is fetching the call history records and other details? If their is any API or private APIs by which i can get the callHistory data path please let me know.

• Would you store binary data in database or in file system?

  This is a question which has been asked before (large-text-and-images-in-sql) but mainly for data which will be changed. In my case the data will be stored and never changed. Just seems sensible to keep everything together. Are there any reasons why I should not store static binary data in a database? Assuming it is a sensible thing to do, are there any advantages to storing such data in separate tables? (You might begin to realise now that I'm not a DB expert...) Clarify: There will probably be no more than 10-20 users but these will be in the US and in the UK. The binary data will have to be transfered in any case.
