• Failed to create feature receiver object from assembly/FileNotFound...

  During solution deployments & Feature activation, I am facing an on/off issue where the system is unable to find & load the FeatureReceiver class. Mostly it is file not found exception (even though the assembly is there in the GAC). I checked over the net and this seems it a common issue with solutions (wsp) packaging DLL to be GACed. (But, no one has any clue or solution!) What is the recommendation and guideline to fix this issue? We are setting the flag to reset IIS in my solution definition - but that does not seem to help. The issue is more prevalent in multi-M farms. Thanks

  I have the column DateTimeExpired, and I would like to create another column called "Expired" which will show "Yes" or "No" according to the expiration date - "Yes" if the date has already passed. I wrote this: DataColumn colExpirationDate = new DataColumn("DateTimeExpired", typeof(DateTime)); DataColumn colExpired = new DataColumn("Expired", typeof(string), "IIF(DateDiff(DateTimeExpired, date())>= 0,'No','Yes')"); But I get an exception "The expression contains undefined function call DateDiff()." (please note that I always want to get the row, no matter if it's expired or not) How do I set the column's text to the correct form?

• running VisualStudio CF3.5 apps on WINCE

  Hi, I am trying to write a program for a chinese PNA device with wince 5.0. But everytime I write a simple program in VS8 with C# and 'deploy' it to my device it just doesn't run. First it complains about disposing an object call menu, although I don't want an menu but VS8 just creates one for me. If I delete the menu from the form the program gives an exception. I installed a program call MIOPocket on the PNA with has powertoys some games and MS media player. It also creates a directory .net framework 3.5 so I known 3.5 is installed and must be working. But I think I am missing something. I am also not sure what to choice as target device ; windows mobile or WINCE. If I click the .exe file under win7 it works but under wince its a no go. Maybe someone has a clue what is going wrong ?

• Can someone explain ORA-29861 error in plain english and its possible cause?

  I have an application implemented in Grails framework using underlying Hibernate. After it runs for a while, I got an Oracle DB error and resolved it by rebuilding the offending index. I wonder if anyone can propose the possible cause(s) and ways to prevent it from happening. The following seems to work but I'd like to avoid printing errors to the console (at least Safari and Chrome do when accessing location.href on the parent frame. • Why is -[UISwitch superlayer] being called?

  I've got sort of a crazy thing going on where I have an NSProxy subclass standing in for a UISwitch. Messages sent to the proxy are forwarded to the switch. Please don't comment on whether or not this is a good design, because in context, it makes sense as an incredibly cool thing. The dealio is that when I try to add this object as an accessory view to a UITableViewCell, I get the following crash: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UISwitch superlayer]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x5889740' Yes, I could just set the proxy's target as the accessory view, but then I would have to keep track of the proxy so that I could release it at the right time. So, what I really want is to be able to have the proxy retained by the table cell, and released when it is removed from the view just like a normal accessory view. So, why is -[UISwitch superlayer] (a method which does not exist) being called, and how do I save the world?

  I am using hibernate on the server side with a client application started via Java Web Start. I can't sign the jars (I'd like to but I can't). I get a permission exception when I get a POJO with lazy fields.   I have a backend service and front-end services. They communicate via the trusted subsystem pattern. I want to transfer a username from the frontend to the backend and do this via username credentials as found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms730288.aspx This does not work in our scenerio where the front-end builds a backend service channel factory via: channelFactory = new ChannelFactory<IBackEndService>(.....); Creating a new channel is done via die channel factory. I can only set the credentials one time after that I get an exception that the username object is read-only. channelFactory.Credentials.Username.Username = "myCoolFrontendUser"; var channel = channelFactory.CreateChannel(); Is there a way to create the channel factory only one time as this is expensive to create and then specify username credential when creating a channel?

• How to use SharpSVN to (quickly) check if a remote folder/file exists on the server

  Say i have a svn repository at https://www.mysvn.com/svn/. How can i use SharpSVN to figure out whether the remote folder https://www.mysvn.com/svn/a/b/c exists on the server? I need to do it an a way that allows me to tell the difference between a failed connection (ie server down) and the folder simply not having been created yet. Calling info on the full https://www.mysvn.com/svn/a/b/c path does not seem to give an exception that enables me to tell the difference between no repository at all and just a missing folder. I could list all files for https://www.mysvn.com/svn/ but the repository can easily be so big that this can take too long. Right now im doing an info on first the root url and then on the full url. If the root url fails i treat it as a server problem, but if it succeeds and the full url fails i assume its because part of the path hasnt been created on the server.

• GAE/JDO: How to check whether a field in a detached object was loaded

  My DAO detaches and then caches certain objects, and it may retrieve them with different fetch groups. Depending on which fetch group was used to retrieve the object, certain fields of that object may be available, or not. I would like to be able to test whether a given field on that object was loaded or not, but I can't simply check whether the field is null because that results in a "JDODetachedFieldAccessException" which demands that I either not access the field or add detach the field first. I could always catch that exception, but that doesn't smell right. So, does anyone know whether its possible to check if the field was detached?

• Unable to generate temporary class for web service

  I have an application with a proxy class for my webservice - This works fine in all 32-bit machines. However the same app throws an exception in windows server 2008 64-bit machine.   Hi, I have a telerik grid which is performing operations like searching,sorting,filtering etc. To make customers happy, we put this control in an ajax panel for seamless experience. Now, we added a new functionality to the grid where the customer can download the entire row information as a csv file. As the response is a file, ajax panel is trying to parse the output and throwing the following exception: Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near '?'. • JPA 2.0, hiberante 3.5, jars & persistence.xml location

  I'm building a desktop application using hibernate 3.5 & JPA 2.0. I have 2 jars, the lib, which defines every entity and DAO, packages looks like this : org.my.package.models org.my.package.models.dao org.my.package.models.utils In org.my.package.utils I defined my hibernate utility class for getting EM & EMF instances, which means the lib is bound to a Persistence Unit name but that's not a problem for now (anyway you can recommend me a better way to manage that) the second jars is built as follow: org.my.package.app META-INF is defined on the root of the project which means in my jar I can find this directories directly in the root: META-INF/ META-INF/persistence.xml org/ org/my/ ... org/my/package/app/Main.class META-INF/ When I run the app, hibernate doesn't managed to find persistence.xml it throws an exception something like "package or class for PersistenceUnitName not found". I googled a bit about the problem but I can't get the source code organisation right. Any help ?

  I am using following code to compute MD5SUM of a file - byte[] b = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(file); string sum = BitConverter.ToString(new MD5CryptoServiceProvider().ComputeHash(b)); This works fine normally, but if I encounter a large file (~1GB) - e.g. an iso image or a DVD VOB file - I get an Out of Memory exception. Though, I am able to compute the MD5SUM in cygwin for the same file in about 10secs. Please suggest how can I get this to work for big files in my program. Thanks

• MySql timeouts - Should I set autoReconnect=true in Spring application?

  After periods of inactivity on my website (Using Spring 2.5 and MySql), I get the following error: org.springframework.dao.RecoverableDataAccessException: The last packet sent successfully to the server was 52,847,830 milliseconds ago. is longer than the server configured value of 'wait_timeout'. You should consider either expiring and/or testing connection validity before use in your application, increasing the server configured values for client timeouts, or using the Connector/J connection property 'autoReconnect=true' to avoid this problem. According to this question, and the linked bug, I shouldn't just set autoReconnect=true. Does this mean I have to catch this exception on any queries I do and then retry the transaction? Should that logic be in the data access layer, or the model layer? Is there an easy way to handle this instead of wrapping every single query to catch this?
