  • Hex colors: Numeric representation for "transparent"?

    - by Pekka
I am building a web CMS in which the user can choose colours for certain site elements. I would like to convert all colour values to hex to avoid any further formatting hassle ("rgb(x,y,z)" or named colours). I have found a good JS library for that. The only thing that I can't get into hex is "transparent". I need this when explicitly declaring an element as transparent, which in my experience can be different from not defining any value at all. Does anybody know whether this can be turned into some numeric form? Will I have to set up all processing instances to accept hex values or "transparent"? I can't think of any other way.

  • How can I stop the flickering in Scriptaculous?

    - by Richard Testani
I'm running this script on a page which shows a box with more information when you roll over it. site for review The script works fine, except theres a flicker of the box before it actually scales. What is causing this? I use the same thing in the main navigation with the same flicking. Any ideas whats causing this? //work page springing box $$('.box').each(function(s) { var more = $(s).down(2); $(s).observe('mouseenter', function(e) { $(more).show(); new Effect.Scale(more, 100, { scaleX: false, scaleY: true, scaleContent: false, scaleFrom: 1, mode: 'absolute', duration: 0.5 }); }); $(s).observe('mouseleave', function(e) { new Effect.Fade(more, { duration: 0.2 }) }); }); Thanks. • DIV overlap on top of submit order INPUT button not working right in IE7

    - by Lauren
I created a test account at www.avaline.com: username: [email protected] pass:test02 I'll keep the account around so you can see what's going on with this submit button without going through the registration process (and needing to fill in a fake address, etc). If logging in doesn't work, you can create your own test account though. Make sure at least one item is in your shopping cart, hit "proceed to checkout", and check off "PayPal" as your payment method (this way the payment won't go through for testing purposes). Once you're on the "review and submit" page, in IE7 (at least), hover over the "pay with Paypal" button, and you'll see that the cursor is a hand when you hover over the text or the button border, but it's a regular arrow when you hover over the button part. If you try clicking on the arrow-cursor area, you'll get the error that you should see...but if you click on the hand-cursor area, you get redirected to the paypal page. In FF, the #hidSubm DIV covers the "Pay with Paypal" button. Why isn't it working in IE7?

  • Action -methods vs public methods in PHP frameworks

    - by Tower
There are plenty of PHP frameworks out there as many of you know, and I am interested in your thoughts on this: Zend Framework has so-called action controllers that must contain at least one action method, a method whose name ends in "Action". For example: public function indexAction() {} The word "Action" is important, without it you can't access the method directly via the URI. However, in some other frameworks like Kohana you have public and private methods, where public methods are accessible and private are not. So my question is which do you think is a better approach? From a secure point of view I would vote Zend's approach, but I am interested in knowing what others think.

  • WCF Data Services implementation strategies.

    - by Nix
Microsoft has done a savvy job of not outlining the actual place for data services in the wonderful world of SOA/Web dev. So my question is simple, are WCF Data Services designed to be used via clients? Or has anyone ever heard of someone using them on the server side? Simple scenario a general layered architecture using BO business objects (parenthesis indicate what is being passed between layers) (XML) WCF Service - (BO)Business Logic - (BO) Dao - Entity Framework or using data services it would be where DS BO are modeled business entities to be used in data service. (XML) WCF Service -(BO) Business Logic - (BO) WCF Data Service - (DS BO)Server I can't see a use for the later, unless there are going to be a lot of cases people would be accessing your data via your Data Service Layer vs the Service layer? Thoughts anyone? I have not seen any mention of using DS from within a Service Layer....

  • How do I prevent selection scrolling in the body

    - by Travis
I have divs that are placed off-screen. I have disabled scrollbars like so: body { overflow: hidden; } Currently, when I highlight text and drag the mouse outside the window, the body still scrolls. How can I prevent this behaviour? (Setting offscreen elements to display: none is not an option.) Thanks! Travis

  • How to get table cells evenly spaced?

    - by DaveDev
    I'm trying to create a page with a number of static html tables on them. What do I need to do to get them to display each column the same size as each other column in the table? The HTML is as follows: <span class="Emphasis">Interest rates</span><br /> <table cellpadding="0px" cellspacing="0px" class="PerformanceTable"> <tr><th class="TableHeader"></th><th class="TableHeader">Current rate as at 31 March 2010</th><th class="TableHeader">31 December 2009</th><th class="TableHeader">31 March 2009</th></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>Index1</td><td class="PerformanceCell">1.00%</td><td>1.00%</td><td>1.50%</td></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>index2</td><td class="PerformanceCell">0.50%</td><td>0.50%</td><td>0.50%</td></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>index3</td><td class="PerformanceCell">0.25%</td><td>0.25%</td><td>0.25%</td></tr> </table> <span>Source: Bt</span><br /><br /> <span class="Emphasis">Stock markets</span><br /> <table cellpadding="0px" cellspacing="0px" class="PerformanceTable"> <tr><th class="TableHeader"></th><th class="TableHeader">As at 31 March 2010</th><th class="TableHeader">1 month change</th><th class="TableHeader">QTD change</th><th class="TableHeader">12 months change</th></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>index1</td><td class="PerformanceCell">1169.43</td><td class="PerformanceCell">5.88%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">4.87%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">46.57%</td></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>index2</td><td class="PerformanceCell">1958.34</td><td class="PerformanceCell">7.68%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">5.27%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">58.31%</td></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>index3</td><td class="PerformanceCell">5679.64</td><td class="PerformanceCell">6.07%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">4.93%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">44.66%</td></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>index4</td><td class="PerformanceCell">2943.92</td><td class="PerformanceCell">8.30%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">-0.98%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">44.52%</td></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>index5</td><td class="PerformanceCell">978.81</td><td class="PerformanceCell">9.47%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">7.85%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">26.52%</td></tr> <tr class="TableRow"><td>index6</td><td class="PerformanceCell">3177.77</td><td class="PerformanceCell">10.58%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">6.82%</td><td class="PerformanceCell">44.84%</td></tr> </table> <span>Source: B</span><br /><br /> I'm also open to suggestion on how to tidy this up, if there are any? :-)

  • Problem with a test method in Yii web services

    - by Conrad
Hi There, Is there anyone here who might be familiar with web services in the yii framework? I declared the following test method: /** * Send a single SMS message * * @param string $username Username * @param string $password Password * @param string $identifier Valid Identifier to use * @param string $mobileNumber Mobile Number to send message to * @param string $message Message to send * @return string 'OK' on success, error message on failure * @soap */ public function singleSms($username, $password, $identifier,$mobileNumber, $message){ return "username=$username, pwd=$password, source=$identifier, mobno=$mobileNumber, msg=$message"; } But when I try to call this method I get the following response: - - WSDL - SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: Couldn't load from 'http://sms.chillnethosting.co.za/index.php?r=sms/webservice' : Start tag expected, '<' not found The WSDL generates when I call my URL: Web Service URL Any Ideas?

  • What is the structure of a (Data Access) Service Class

    - by jiewmeng
I learnt that I should be using service classes to persist entities into the database instead of putting such logic in models/controllers. I currently made my service class something like class Application_DAO_User { protected $user; public function __construct(User $user) { $this->user = $user } public function edit($name, ...) { $this->user->name = $name; ... $this->em->flush(); } } I wonder if this should be the structure of a service class? where a service object represents a entity/model? Or maybe I should pass a User object everytime I want to do a edit like public static function edit($user, $name) { $user->name = $name; $this->em->flush(); } I am using Doctrine 2 & Zend Framework, but it shouldn't matter

  • Selector and Iterating Through a Table Within a Div

    - by GregH
I have been working on this and cannot get this iterator to work. I have the following HTML and am trying to iterate through all rows (except the first row) and extract the values in cells (td) 2 and 3 : <div id="statsId"> <table width="220" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td width="65"/> <td width="90"/> <td width="65"/> </tr> <tr style="font-weight: bold;"> <td align="left">$1.00</td> <td> <a href="#">UserID1</a> </td> <td>Single</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">$6.99</td> <td> <a href="#">UserID2</a> </td> <td>Multiple</td> </tr> <tr>... .....(snip) I tried the following iterator to iterate through all except the first row of the table that is a child of "div#statsID" and get the values of the 2nd and 3rd cells (in the example, the first extracted cells would have values of "UserID1" and "Single"), but it doesn't work. $('div#statsId > table tr:not(:nth-child(1))').each(function(i, ele) { var secondCol = $('td:nth-child(2)', ele).innerHTML var thirdCol= $('td:nth-child(3)', ele).text() ..... }); Any suggestions on how to specify and iterate through the rows (except the first) of a table that is a child of a div would be appreciated.

  • Controls not aligning properly.

    - by RPK
    I am using following code to design my home page. The output (as shown below) is not appearing properly. You can see the banner going to far left and the navigation links have a huge gap in between. How to set this? Can it be done using only the DIV tag instead of TABLE? <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <title> First Website </title> </head> <body> <table id="main" align="center" width="600 px"> <tr id="trBanner"> <td id="tdBanner"> <img src="../../../My Pictures/banner copy.bmp.jpg" </td> </tr> <tr id="trNavLinks"> <td id="lnkHome"> <a href="" id="lnkHome" name="lnkHome">Home</a> </td> <td id="lnkLife"> <a href="" id="lnkLife" name="lnkLife">Life</a> </td> <td id="lnkTeachings"> <a href="" id="lnkTeachings" name="lnkTeachings">Teachings</a> </td> <td id="lnkExperiences"> <a href="" id="lnkExperiences" name="lnkExperiences">Experiences</a> </td> <td id="lnkPhotoGallery"> <a href="" id="lnkPhotoGallery" name="lnkPhotoGallery">Photo Gallery</a> </td> <td id="lnkReach"> <a href="" id="lnkReach" name="lnkReach">How to Reach</a> </td> <td id="lnkContact"> <a href="" id="lnkContact" name="lnkContact">Contact Us</a> </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html>

  • jquery animate and image resize flickering

    - by denadai2
Hi, i've a problem with a resize effect that i've done in http://www.mcz-scenario.it. When you click on a language, you can see the "background" image transferring into a certain position of the screen. this is the image: <img id="lago" src="http://www.mcz-scenario.it/images/lago.jpg" height="1070" width="1600" alt="lago" /> And this is the "resize" effect $("#lago").animate({ height: 148, width: 264, top: endPosition2.top+42, left: endPosition2.left+350+26}, 4000); Now... I see some flickering running this animation in Firefox. How can i handle this? Is it normal because the image is too large? Help me please :( THX

  • Problem creating ObjectContext from different project inside solution.

    - by Levelbit
I have two projects in my Solution. One implements my business logic and has defined entity model of entity framework. When I want to work with classes defined within this project from another project I have some problems in runtime. Actually, the most concerning thing is why I can not instantiate my, so called, TicketEntities(ObjectContext) object from other projects? when I catch following exception: The specified named connection is either not found in the configuration, not intended to be used with the EntityClient provider, or not valid. I found out it's brake at: public partial class TicketEntities : global::System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext { public TicketEntities() : base("name=TicketEntities", "TicketEntities") { this.OnContextCreated(); } with exception: Unable to load the specified metadata resource. Just to remind you everthing works fine from orginal project.
