• ArrayAdapter and android:textFilterEnabled

  Hi there, I have created a layout which includes a ListView... The data shown within this ListView isn't too complicated, it's mostly an Array which is passed when the extended Activity is started... The rows themselves exist out of an icon and a text, thus an ImageView and a TextView... To fill up the ListView I use an ArrayAdapter simply because an Array is passed containing all the text-items that should be shown.. Now I'd like to actually be able to filter those, thus I found the android:textFilterEnabled paramater to add on the ListView xml declaration... Now a search field is shown nicely but when I enter some letters it won't filter but it will simply delete the whole list... I found out that that's because the textfilter has no idea what it should filter... So now my question is : I know I need to tell the textfilter what it should filter, I also still have my array filled with the text that should get filtered so how do i couple those two ??? I have seen examples extending a CursorAdapter, but again, I don't have a Cursor, I don't want to do calls to a DB I want to re-utilize my Array with data and obviously the ArrayAdapter itself so that the data will be represented decently on screen (i.e with my ImageView and TextView layout)... Thanks in advance for any help/pointers/tips/code...

• Messaging pattern question

  Process A is calculating values for objects a1, a2, a3 etc. and is sending results to the middleware queue (RabbitMQ). Consumers read the queue and process these results further. Periodically process A has to send a snapshot of these values, so consumers could do some other calculations. Values for these objects might change independently. The queue might look like this a1, a1, a2, a1, a2, a2, a3... Consumers process each item in the queue. The snapshot has to contain all objects and consumers will process this message for all objects in one go. So the requirement is to have a queue like this: a1, a1, a3, a2, a2, [snapshot, a1, a2, a3], a3, a1 ... The problem is that these items are of different types: one type for objects like a1, a2 and other for a snapshot. This means that they should be processed in a diferent queues, but in that case there is a race condition: consumers might process objects before processing a snapshot. Is there any pattern to solve this (quite common) problem? We are using RabbitMQ for message queueing.

  Hi i have a table strcture for my menu, and i need to be able to collapse/expand the menu from level2, so that all level3 cells becone visible. • Using LinqExtender to make OData feed fails

  A pretty simple question, has anyone here tried to make a OData feed based on a IQueryable created with LinqExtender? I have created a simple Linq-provider that supports Where, Select, OrderBy and Take and wanted to expose it as an OData Feed. • Button style in AlertDialogs

  Does anyone know how to override the default style for AlertDialog buttons? I've looked through the Android source for themes and styles and experimented with different things but I haven't been able to find a way that works. What I've got below works for changing the backgrounds, but doesn't do anything with the buttons. myTheme is applied to the whole <application> via the manifest. • Caching sitemaps in django

This one was bigger that 1MB, so storing into cache failed: >7 SERVER_ERROR object too large for cache The problem is that django has an automated way of deciding when it should divide the sitemap file into smalled ones. According to the docs (http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/sitemaps/): You should create an index file if one of your sitemaps has more than 50,000 URLs. In this case, Django will automatically paginate the sitemap, and the index will reflect that. What do you think would be the best way to enable caching sitemaps? - Hacking into django sitemaps framework to restrict a single sitemap size to, let's say, 10,000 records seems like the best idea. Why was 50,000 chosen in the first place? Google advice? random number? - Or maybe there is a way to allow memcached store bigger files? - Or perhaps onces saved, the sitemaps should be made available as static files? This would mean that instead of caching with memcached I'd have to manually store the results in the filesystem and retrieve them from there next time when the sitemap is requested (perhaps cleaning the directory daily in a cron job). All those seem very low level and I'm wondering if an obvious solution exists...

• HTTP Error 405 from a Tooltip loading another page.

  I have a web page that uses tooltips. I am using Prototip specifically. One of the options is to use Ajax to load another page within the tool. The Ajax functionality is coming from the Prototype framework, http://www.prototypejs.org/api/ajax/request/. All I really want to load is an image. I just don't want the image to load on page creation because there are so many images. So when I put a link to a .jpg file or even a .html file I receive the error HTTP Error 405.0 - Method Not Allowed from IIS. I am running IIS7. Is this an issue with my code or an issue with IIS7? Also, the other version of the error I am getting is The HTTP verb POST used to access path '/Images/Items/tech_over_RST.jpg' is not allowed. I receive this version of the error message when I run in debug mode from VS2010. I am also using URL Routing but not MVC.

• Delphi access violation assigning local variable

  This seems like the simplest thing in the world and I'm ready to pull my hair out over it. I have a unit that looks like this ; Unit myUnit; // ... //normal declarations //... Public //bunch of procedures including Procedure myProcedure; const //bunch of constants var //bunch of vars including myCounter:integer; Implementation Uses //(all my uses) // All of my procedures including Procedure myProcedure; try // load items from file to TListBox - this all works except on EReadError do begin // handle exception end; end; //try myCounter:=0; // <-- ACCESS VIOLATION HERE while myCounter //...etc It's a simple assignment of a variable and I have no idea why it is doing this. I've tried declaring the variable local to the unit, to the procedure, globally - no matter where I try to do it I can't assign a value of zero to an integer, declared anywhere, within this procedure without it throwing an access violation. I'm totally stumped. I'm calling the procedure from inside a button OnClick handler from within the same unit, but no matter where I call it from it throws the exception. The crazy thing is that I do the exact same thing in a dozen other places in units all over the program without problems. Why here? I'm at a total loss.

The list and values are located in a file at location "app/res/xml/time.xml" <ListPreference android:title="Time unit list" android:summary="Select the time unit" android:dependency="Main_Option" android:key="listPref" android:defaultValue="1" android:entries="?xml:time/timet" android:entryValues="@xml:time/timet_values" /> The code for the time.xml is as follow: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources> <string-array name="timet"> <item>seconds</item> <item>minutes</item> <item>hours</item> </string-array> <string-array name="timet_values"> <item>3600</item> <item>60</item> <item>1</item> </string-array> </resources> I am not able to reference these values in my preference xml file. • MVVM pattern: ViewModel updates after Model server roundtrip

  I have stateless services and anemic domain objects on server side. Model between server and client is POCO DTO. The client should become MVVM. The model could be graph of about 100 instances of 20 different classes. The client editor contains diverse tab-pages all of them live-connected to model/viewmodel. My problem is how to propagate changes after server round-trip nice way. It's quite easy to propagate changes from ViewModel to DTO. For way back it would be possible to throw away old DTO and replace it whole with new one, but it will cause lot of redrawing for lists/DataTemplates. I could gather the server side changes and transmit them to client side. But the names of fields changed would be domain/DTO specific, not ViewModel specific. And the mapping seems nontrivial to me. If I should do it imperative way after round-trip, it would break SOC/modularity of viewModels. I'm thinking about some kind of mapping rule engine, something like automappper or emit mapper. But it solves just very plain use-cases. I don't see how it would map/propagate/convert adding items to list or removal. How to identify instances in collections so it could merge values to existing instances. As well it should propagate validation/error info. Maybe I should implement INotifyPropertyChanged on DTO and try to replay server side events on it ? And then bind ViewModel to it ? Would binding solve the problems with collection merges nice way ? Is EventAgregator from PRISM useful for that ? Is there any event record-replay component ? Is there better client side pattern for architecture with server side logic ?

• Magento Set Grid to Filter Automatically by Current Day using Existing Datetime Column in Grid

  In Magento I'm creating a custom module and would love to be able to filter automatically by the datetime column so that the intial grid listing shows only entities related to "todays" date. Here is my datetime column: $this->addColumn('ts', array( 'header' => $hlp->__('Activated'), 'align' => 'left', 'index' => 'ts', 'type' => 'datetime', 'width' => '160px', )); I'm think there should be a way for me to just add a filter to the collection like so: $now = Mage::getModel('core/date')->timestamp(time()); $dateTime = date('m/d/y h:i:s', $now); $collection = Mage::getModel('mymodule/items')->getCollection() ->addFieldToFilter('ts', $dateTime); But this doesn't work? Am I using the wrong filter? My "ts" field in the database is a "datetime" field, but the default magento "From: " - "To:" date range selectors don't use hours, minutes, seconds. Any ideas? • JS sort works in Firefox but not IE - can't work out why

  I have a line in a javascript function that sort an array of objects based on the order of another array of strings. This is working in firefox but not in IE and i don't know why. Here's what my data looks like going into the sort call.   Hi, The context menu is not popping up on the long click on the list items in the list view. Now I am thinking of a adding a button to the list item and it displays a menu on clicking it. Is it possible with some other way than using Dialogs? Any help would be much appreciated..

• Templates, and C++ operator for logic: B contained by set A

  In C++, I'm looking to implement an operator for selecting items in a list (of type B) based upon B being contained entirely within A. In the book "the logical design of digital computers" by Montgomery Phister jr (published 1958), p54, it says: F11 = A + ~B has two interesting and useful associations, neither of them having much to do with computer design. The first is the logical notation of implication... The second is notation of inclusion... This may be expressed by a familiar looking relation, B < A; or by the statement "B is included in A"; or by the boolean equation F11= A + ~B = 1. My initial implementation was in C. Callbacks were given to the list to use for such operations. An example being a list of ints, and a struct containting two ints, min and max, for selection purposes. There, selection would be based upon B = A-min && B <= A-max. Using C++ and templates, how would you approach this after having implemented a generic list in C using void pointers and callbacks? Is using < as an over-ridden operator for such purposes... <ugh> evil? </ugh> (or by using a class B for the selection criteria, implementing the comparison by overloading ?)

• Problem when reading input in C

  I've made a Linked List. Its elements keep both previous and next items' address. It gets commands from an input file. It detects the command and uses the following statement as a parameter. (text: add_to_front john - means: add_to_front(john)) Code: http://pastebin.com/KcAm1y3L When I try to give the commands from an input file it gives me same output over and over. However, if I write inputs in main() manually, it works. I know it's a lot to ask but this thing is bothering me for 2 days. What do you think i'm doing wrong?

• Dynamically populated NSPopUpButtonCell menu in an NSOutlineView

  I’m working with an NSOutlineView which has two columns. My dataSource supplies the outline view with a tree of items of a custom class which represents file types (that is, you initialise it with a UTI). The first column is the display name of the file type (e.g., “Source code”, “Interface Builder NIB document”, etc.). The second column is an NSPopUpButtonCell which is supposed to allow the user to pick a handler for the given document type (think of Xcode’s “File Types” preference pane, and you’re pretty much there). I can generate an NSMenu for a given item in the tree, populated with options based upon the Launch Services database entries for the UTI, complete with the relevant application icon and and so on. In fact, the menu itself works wonderfully, populated by way of NSPopUpButtonCellWillPopUpNotification. The problem is, try as I might, the cell when the menu isn’t popped up always contains precisely one of two things: either an empty string, or the default text for the cell, the former if the result of -handlerName on the item (the attribute assigned to the column) is non-nil, the latter otherwise. Moreover, I’m manually calling -selectItem: on the NSPopUpButtonCell instance, which just seems Wrong. In contrast, the left-hand column, which is just an NSTextFieldCell, everything just works (although granted, all it’s got to do is read the value from the item and present it). (Disclaimer: I’m fairly new at Cocoa UI stuff; I know Objective-C, and lots of other programming languages, but I’ve not a huge amount of experience of building Mac OS X UIs, so be gentle).

• Setting Up OpenCV and .lib files

  I have been trying to set up OpenCV for the past few days with no results. I am using Windows 7 and VS C++ 2008 express edition. I have downloaded and installed OpenCV 2.1 and some of the examples work. I downloaded CMake and ran it to generate the VS project files and built all of them but there with several errors, and couldn't get any farther than that. When I ran CMake I configured it to use the VS 9 compiler, and then it brought up a list of items in red such as BUILD_EXAMPLES, BUILD_LATEX_DOCS, ect. All of them were unchecked except BUILD_NEW_PYTHON_SUPPORT, BUILD_TESTS, ENABLE_OPENMP, and OPENCV_BUILD_3RDPARTY_LIBS. I configured and generate without changing anything and then it generated the VS files such as ALL_BUILD.vcproj. I built the OpenCV VS solution in debug mode and it had 15 failures (maybe this is part of the problem or is it because I don't have python and stuff like that?) Now there was a lib folder created after building but inside there was just this VC++ Minimum Rebuild Dependency file and Program Debug Database file, both called cvhaartraining. I believe it should have created the .lib files I need instead of this. Also, the bin folder now has a folder called Debug with the same types of files with names like cv200d and cvaux200d. Believe I need those .lib files to move forward. I would also greatly appreciate if someone could direct me to a reliable tutorial to set up VS for OpenCV because I have been reading a lot of tutorials and they all say different things such as some say to configure Window's environment variables and other say files are located in folders such as OpenCV/cv which I don't have. I have gotten past the point of clear headed thinking so if anyone could offer some direction or a simple list of the files I need to link then I would be thankful. Also a side question: why when linking the OpenCV libs do you have to put them in quotes?

• How to get DIVs into this code via JQuery

  Heya everyone I been struggling along with this piece of code for the longest time, its driving me insane. I am trying many different things and looking at past posts here but nothing seems to be helping. Basicly i have a jquery pagination code in place and i want to add animated transitions between pages. With some assistance i got that working correctly however this causes the page to jump around as the new items fade in and out. To fix this i need a DIV wrapped around each selection of results. I have been trying to use .wrap .html .wrapinner .append and i cant get any of it to work properly. The 2 areas where i beleive the code needs to be place are as follows: $('#content').children().slice(0, show_per_page).css('display', 'block'); and $('#content').children().fadeOut('slow').slice(start_from, end_on).fadeIn('slow'); Full original code: http://tutsvalley.com/tutorials/making-a-jquery-pagination-system/ Only the second line of code posted here has been altered. • C# Multi CheckboxList update inserts checked records but doesn't delete unchecked records

  I have a multi checkboxlist on a formview. Both use queries in a tableadapter. I'm using VS 2012. When the user updates the form, I use the following code to update the checkbox data. If a user checks a new box, a new record is inserted correctly, however if the user unchecks a box the existing record is not deleted. The delete query works fine if I run it from the query builder in the table adapter, it's reaching the expected line in the code correctly, all values are correct and I receive no errors. I use a similar query to delete records when the form level data is deleted which works fine. The very last line is the one that doesn't work. • How best to implement "favourites" feature? (like favourite products on a data driven website)

  Hi, I have written a dynamic database driven, object oriented website with an administration frontend etc etc. I would like to add a feature where customers can save items as "favourites", without having to create an account and login, to come back to them later, but I dont know how exactly to go about doing this... I see three options: Log favourites based on IP address and then change these to be logged against an account if the customer then creates an account; Force customers to create an account to be able to use this functionality; Log favourites based on IP address but give users the option to save their favourites under a name they specify. The problem with option 1 is that I dont know much about IP addresses - my Dad thinks they are unique, but I know people have had problems with systems like this. The problem with 1 and 2 is that accounts have not been opened up to customers yet - only administrators can log in at the moment. It should be easy to alter this (no more than a morning or afternoons work) but I would also have to implement usergroups too. The problem with option 3 is that if user A saves a favourites list called "My Favourites", and then user B tries to save a list under this name and it is refused, user B will then be able to access the list saved by user A because they now know it already exists. A solution to this is to password protect lists, but to go to all this effort I may as well implement option 2. Of course I could always use option 4; use an alternative if anyone can suggest a better solution than any of the above options. So has anyone ever done something like this before? If so how did you go about it? What do you recommend (or not recommend)? Many thanks in advance, Regards, Richard

• How would I structure the loop to go through inputs?

  I am attempting to make a loop that will go through an array structured like this: $input[n][checked] $input[n][input] The 2nd input acts as a price multiplier, but doesn't have to exist (field can be blank). I don't think a foreach loop is right because I don't think it handles the inputs from the form in the correct dimensional array order to keep the information together. I have inputs on a form that look like this: <input type="checkbox" name="measure[<?php echo $item->id; ?>][checked]" value="<?php echo $item->id; ?>"> <input class="item_mult" type="text" name="measure[<?php echo $item->id; ?>][input]" /> I am attempting to make the loop go through and act as a multiplier on the input relative to its sibling field. • How to implement menuitems that depend on current selection in WPF MVVM explorer-like application

  I am new to WPF and MVVM, and I am working on an application utilizing both. The application is similar to windows explorer, so consider an app with a main window with menu (ShellViewModel), a tree control (TreeViewModel), and a list control (ListViewModel). I want to implement menu items such as Edit - Delete, which deletes the currently selected item (which may be in the tree or in the list). I am using Josh Smith's RelayCommand, and binding the menuitem to a DeleteItemCommand in the ShellViewModel is easy. It seems like implementing the DeleteItemCommand, however, requires some fairly tight coupling between the ShellViewModel and the two child view models (TreeViewModel and ListViewModel) to keep track of the focus/selection and direct the action to the proper child for implementation. That seems wrong to me, and makes me think I'm missing something. Writing a focus manager and/or selection manager to do the bookkeeping does not seem too hard, and could be done without coupling the classes together. The windowing system is already keeping track of which view has the focus, and it seems like I'd be duplicating code. What I'm not sure about is how I would route the command from the ShellViewModel down to either the ListViewModel or the TreeViewModel to do the actual work without making a mess of the code. Some day, the application will be extended to include more than two children, and I want the shell to be as ignorant of the children as possible to make that extension as painless as possible. Looking at some sample WPF/MVVM applications (Karl Shifflett's CipherText, Josh Smith's MVVM Demo, etc.), I haven't seen any code that does this (or I didn't understand it). Regardless of whether you think my approach is way off base or I'm just missing a small nuance, please share your thoughts and help me get back on track. Thanks!

• How to know if all the Thread Pool's thread are already done with its tasks?

  I have this application that will recurse all folders in a given directory and look for PDF. If a PDF file is found, the application will count its pages using ITextSharp. I did this by using a thread to recursively scan all the folders for pdf, then if then PDF is found, this will be queued to the thread pool.
