  This was originally a question, but is now a code enhancement, since it's a very minor (but useful) update. When heading (or other) text is used as a link with sIFR 3, you now get the two 'open link / open link in new window' options in the right-click flash context menu for the link. When I came across sIFR for the first time yesterday, I was wanting to copy a header (h2) link to the clipboard, on a site that used sIFR 2.x, and was frustrated that I couldn't. • Python halts while iteratively processing my 1GB csv file

  I have two files: metadata.csv: contains an ID, followed by vendor name, a filename, etc hashes.csv: contains an ID, followed by a hash The ID is essentially a foreign key of sorts, relating file metadata to its hash. I wrote this script to quickly extract out all hashes associated with a particular vendor. It craps out before it finishes processing hashes.csv stored_ids = [] # this file is about 1 MB entries = csv.reader(open(options.entries, "rb")) for row in entries: # row[2] is the vendor if row[2] == options.vendor: # row[0] is the ID stored_ids.append(row[0]) # this file is 1 GB hashes = open(options.hashes, "rb") # I iteratively read the file here, # just in case the csv module doesn't do this. for line in hashes: # not sure if stored_ids contains strings or ints here... # this probably isn't the problem though if line.split(",")[0] in stored_ids: # if its one of the IDs we're looking for, print the file and hash to STDOUT print "%s,%s" % (line.split(",")[2], line.split(",")[4]) hashes.close() This script gets about 2000 entries through hashes.csv before it halts. What am I doing wrong?   I am working on zend framework, PHP and jQuery. I am working on popups sometimes. When any popup is open on the screen, we can still clicks links on webpage behind popup which causes some unexpected behaviour. How can I disable a webpage behind popup. I have seen some web application in which when popup appears then webpage behind popup become shady. I have read some tutorial about this. In each tutorial a link is used to open a dialog and an special attribute is added in for modal. But I have a different case I have to open dialog on some condition in action. • How to determine if a registry key is redirected by WOW64?

  Is it possible to determine whether or not a given registry key is redirected? My problem is that I want to enumerate registry keys in both the 32-bit and 64-bit registry views in a generic manner from a 32-bit application. I could simply open each key twice, first with KEY_WOW64_64KEY and then with KEY_WOW64_32KEY. However, if the key is not redirected this gives you exactly the same key and you end up enumerating the exact same content twice; this is what I am trying to avoid. I did find some documentation on it, but it looks like the only way is to examine the hive and do a bunch of string comparisons on the key. Another possibility I thought of is to try to open Wow6432Node on each subkey; if it exists then the key must be redirected. I.e. if I am trying to open HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows I would try to open the following keys: HKCU\Wow6432Node, HKCU\Software\Wow6432Node, HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Wow6432Node, and HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Wow6432Node. Unfortunately, the documentation seems to imply that a child of a redirected key is not necessarily redirected so that route also has issues. So, what are my options here?

  I have a piece of code that creates an SQL Server Express 2008 in runtime, and then tries to connect to it to execute a database initialization script in Transact-SQL. • How can I automatically release resources RAII-style in Perl?

  Say I have a resource (e.g. a filehandle or network socket) which has to be freed: open my $fh, "<", "filename" or die "Couldn't open filename: $!"; process($fh); close $fh or die "Couldn't close filename: $!"; Suppose that process might die. Then the code block exits early, and $fh doesn't get closed. I could explicitly check for errors: open my $fh, "<", "filename" or die "Couldn't open filename: $!"; eval {process($fh)}; my $saved_error = $@; close $fh or die "Couldn't close filename: $!"; die $saved_error if $saved_error; but this kind of code is notoriously difficult to get right, and only gets more complicated when you add more resources. In C++ I would use RAII to create an object which owns the resource, and whose destructor would free it. That way, I don't have to remember to free the resource, and resource cleanup happens correctly as soon as the RAII object goes out of scope - even if an exception is thrown. Unfortunately in Perl a DESTROY method is unsuitable for this purpose as there are no guarantees for when it will be called. Is there a Perlish way to ensure resources are automatically freed like this even in the presence of exceptions? Or is explicit error checking the only option?

• Simple Prototype.js code to select multiple elements with the same classname

  I have one link with an id of "link", and I use the javascript below to open that link up in a modalbox: #In my template I have: <a href="some/path" id="link">link</a> #Then in my application.js file I have: document.observe('dom:loaded', function() { $('login-link').observe('click', function(event) { event.stop(); Modalbox.show(this.href,{title: 'some title', width: 500}); }); }) Since id's must be unique, this javascript only works for one element per page so I use it to observe my login-link and it has served me well. Until now. I want to use the same javascript to observe multiple links which have classnames instead of id's as below: <a href="link/to/some/stuff" class="link">link 1</a> <a href="link/to/some/other/stuff" class="link">link 2</a> When I do this, I can't get any of the links to open in a modalbox. If I change the class to an id for each link, then I can get the first link in the list to open in a modalbox. I've tried to use the '$$' notation to build an array of links in my javascript (shown below) but if I do that, then none of the links open correctly #document.observe method removed for display purposes $$('link').observe('click', function(event) { event.stop(); Modalbox.show(this.href,{title: 'some title', width: 500} ); }); My javascript skills obviously suck. • How do set up jquery to exclude classes in a function?

  I essentially only understand how to read bits of javascript and make modifications. I am using grid-slider, a script I purchased, but the code writer is mia at the moment, so hopefully someone here can help me. Basically, it's a slider and there are options to have links open like normal or to have links open in a panel on the same page. I want some links to open in a panel and others to open in the parent window. It seems to me that all that would be required to do this would be to activate the panel display function (which I've done) and then set up an exclude function to exclude certain uls or lis with a specific class from the function. • Merge Multple Worksheets From Multple Workbooks

  Hi, I have found multiple posts on merging data but I am still running into some problems. I have multiple files with multiple sheets. Example 2007-01.xls...2007-12.xls in each of these files are daily data on sheets labeled 01, 02, 03 ..... There are other sheets in the file so I can't just loop through all worksheets. I need to combine the daily data into monthly data, then all of the monthly data points into yearly. On the monthly data I need it to be added to the bottom of the page. We set a breakpoint at line of "beep", then lunch the test application under ide debug mode, when ide stops at the breakpoint line (qry.post has been executed), at this time we use microsoft access to open test.mdb and open table aaa you will find there are no any changes in table aaa, if you let the ide continue running after pressing f9 you can find a new record is inserted in to table aaa, but if you press ctrl+f2 to terminate the application at the breakpoint, you will find the table aaa has no record been inserted, but in normal circumstance, a new record should be inserted in to the table aaa after qry.post executed. who can explain this problem , it troubles me so long time. thanks !!! • Internet explorer 8 opens file in browser instead of the client

  Our company is working with a great Business Intelligence tool CorVu 4.2 to analyse the operational and strategic data. Since several years we are successfully working with Sharepoint 2007 to collaborate and share information with colleagues. Most of my colleagues are working with Internet Explorer 7, but step by step Internet Explorer 8 is implemented in the company. We share a lot of CorVu files thought Sharepoint, but since we are using Internet Explorer 8, we have a problem that is new for us. If we click on a CorVu file in Internet Explorer 8 (not necessarily in Sharepoint) a pop-up shows how to open the file, if we save the file, there is no problem. But if we open the file, the file is shown in the browser and not in the CorVu client! See the screenshot below: link (I removed some unnecessary information) So far my colleagues accept this 'feature' in Internet Explorer 8. But I we open and closes more CorVu files, multiple errors (more than 10) show up starting with: (unable to place more hyperlinks) By pressing Enter the errors disappear, but it's not professional! I contacted the creators of CorVu, but they don't have a solution for in their client. There may be a solution in Internet Explorer 8? The extensions of a CorVu file can be a .sqy, .tab or .qrp. But is it possible to force the files to open in the standard client instead of the browser?

The one still works and the other gets the error. ?!?

  Im using an existing widget from the jquery-ui labs call selectmenu. It has callback options for the events close and open. The problem is i need in these event to animate a node that is part of the widget but not what its connected to. In order to do this i need access to this node. for example if i were to actually modify the widget code itself: // ... other methods/properties "open" : function(event){ // ... the original logic // this is my animation $(this.list).slideUp('slow'); // this is the orginal call to _trigger this._trigger('open', event, $this._uiHash()); }, // ... other methods/properties However when in the scope of the event handler i attach this is the orginal element i called the widget on. I need the widget instance or specifically the widget instance's list property. $('select#custom').selectmenu({ 'open': function(){ // in this scope `this` is an HTMLSelectElement not the ui widget } }); Whats the best way to go about getting the list property from the widget?

  Hi, I hope somebody can help with my notification problem. I have a notification which looks to be set up correctly but it isn’t delivered as expected. I am developing a document based app. The delegate/ document class posts the notification when it reads from a saved file: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:notifyBsplinePolyOpened object:self]; Logging tells me that this line is reached whenever I open a saved document. In the DrawView class, I have observers for the windowOpen notification and the bsplinePoly file open notification: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(mainWindowOpen:) name:NSWindowDidBecomeMainNotification object:nil]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(savedBspline:) name:notifyBsplinePolyOpened object:nil]; - (void) mainWindowOpen:(NSNotification*) note { NSLog(@"Window opened"); _mainWindow = [note object]; } - (void) savedBspline:(NSNotification*) note { NSLog(@"savedBspline called"); NSLog(@"note is %@", [note name]); } The behavior is odd. When I save and close the main window and reopen it, I get the “Window opened” message but not the “savedBspline called” message. If I leave a main window open and open a previously saved session, I get the “Window opened” message and the “savedBspline called” message. I have searched online discussion and Apple DevCenter documentation but I have not seen this problem.

• Problem with .release behavior in file_operations

  Hello, I'm dealing with a problem in a kernel module that get data from userspace using a /proc entry. I set open/write/release entries for my own defined /proc entry, and manage well to use it to get data from userspace. I handle errors in open/write functions well, and they are visible to user as open/fopen or write/fwrite/fprintf errors. But some of the errors can only be checked at close (because it's the time all the data is available). In these cases I return something different than 0, which I supposed to be in some way the value 'close' or 'fclose' will return to user. But whatever the value I return my close behave like if all is fine. To be sure I replaced all the release() code by a simple 'return(-1);' and wrote a program that open/write/close the /proc entry, and prints the close return value (and the errno). It always return '0' whatever the value I give. Behavior is the same with 'fclose', or by using shell mechanism (echo "..." /proc/my/entry). Any clue about this strange behavior that is not the one claimed in many tutorials I found? BTW I'm using RHEL5 kernel (2.6.18, redhat modified), on a 64bit system. Thanks. Regards, Yannick

  I'm just starting too use python, learning experience. I know the basics logic of programming. I have a function in python that is running everytime, even when it's not supposed to. I use an if statement in the beginning of the function. I don't know why this if statement is not working, confused. I have another function that is similar and works correctly. Am I missing something simple?
